I ordered take out for dinner, Rice with BBQ Pork and Pho with Lean Brisket Steak. The BBQ Pork came with white rice, side salad (w/ sliced cucumber, shredded carrots, and tomato slices), and one little portion cup of fish sauce. Fish sauce was enough to pour over everything, rice, salad, and pork. I devoured it and would definitely order again. My husband ate the pho. He said the brisket was alright by itself. He's had better. Adding hoisin sauce helps. The dish only included two packets of hoisin. (I keep a bottle on hand because I normally like hoisin with almost every bite whenever I eat pho. Restaurants never give enough.) Be sure to ask for extra! The noodles came in a bowl which is convenient. Other establishments may have the noodles in a Chinese take out box and you supply your own bowl. Overall, he was happy with his meal. The restaurant only had one table with guests. Two more tables were taken by the time I left. I don't know if I've ever seen this place packed. The decor is the same from the previous business that occupied that spot. The restaurant is fairly quiet with the exception of a movie playing on tv. I don't know the movie. Didn't pay much attention to it until I heard cussing. A lot of it. Tense scenes. The lady servicing the front paid no attention to it. Probably background noise to her. I wasn't a fan. Not exactly family friendly and poor taste imo. Decent grilled pork banh mi. Bread was nice and soft, meat was clearly marinated. Char siu bahn mi was not great, meat was tough, under seasoned, and kind of old tasting. Would grab another grilled pork banh mi in a pinch, it was to date the best North County bahn mi I've had. read more

I was craving Bahn Mi and found this spot but I had a short lunch so I just placed an order for pick up. It was ready by the time I got there and unfortunately, that's the only positive thing for me. I got there and it was not busy at all but the server took a while to even recognize my presence. Then when I said it's for pick up, he was quick to hand me my food (no hi, no hello) then walked back to his area. I had to check for myself if there were napkins and there was none so I had to signal for his attention. This, again, took a while. It was so inconvenient. Across the little bridge that they have in the front. Little did I know that it was going to be the highway to culinary hell. We went in to an empty restaurant on a Sunday night. We should've known but we were just too hungry. We ordered pho, steak broken rice and spring rolls. Photos on the menu is extremely deceiving. We didn't get any tripes in our pho special. The steak didn't have any vegetables and had smaller pieces, not cubed meats. And spring roll had the thinnest meat. Growing up in San Diego. If you live far from the Vietnamese area, Annam Pho is a convenient choice. I like the bun with grilled meat--the meat is tender and not overcooked. The staff are friendly. The restaurant isn't too crowded, so service is quick and efficient. The space is spacious, though there is a slightly unpleasant smell, probably from being around for a long time. The food was fine, but these people are so cheap they don't have AC running during the day. Instead, they just have fans running inside circulating the heat from the kitchen and the heat from outside. Then the service was so terrible. I worked at a Vietnamese restaurant for about a year in 2021, I had ample opportunity to learn exactly how I liked my banh mi's, and this place nails them every time. I really wanted to like this place. I ordered door dash for the first time here for my pregnant and very tired wife after a long day of packing. Unfortunately, they sent the complete wrong order. When I followed up with the driver he said that it was the order given to him, my wife has a peanut allergy and couldn't eat the food. I order a plate of fried rice, added chicken to that plate, Crispy Fried Tofu and an order of egg rolls. The food was good. The price was reasonable. The server was very friendly and made sure my grandkiddos were good with the food. The kiddos were more fascinated with the pond located at the front of the restaurant while I devoured my food. Pho literally has 5 pieces of meat and is tiny. The broth doesn't have that rich and savory taste that you expect for slow simmering bones, likely over usage of flavoring packages and cutting corner somewhere. Disappointing and won't ever be back. read more

A modest family restaurant with gracious service and plenty of seating. I stopped by specifically to try the grilled beef banh mi, which was indeed good. When I went at the start of rush hour, it was very dark and quiet. Annam serves their banh mi traditional-style on a French roll with pickled veggies, lettuce, and lots of grilled, marinaded ribeye. But after the interaction I had for my online order don't think I will be back. Disorganized, slow, and prices change even tho all menu posted say otherwise. We came here because Pho House was closed for Labor Day. It was busy. They were disorganized. Slow. Took about 45 minutes for food to come out. One guy serving, one lady at counter, one guy back up and probably one chef. I feel for them but it's too slow of service. The food is actually decent. The nem nuong rolls were huge, good. The pho broth wasn't bad, it had good flavors. Very little meat in the Dac Biet special though. Even though food was decent, would not come here again. Was too slow. Oh and the lady changed the price on our nem nuong rolls. She added and extra dollar. DON'T come here! I walked in... hoping for a good meal and left nearly puking. I walked in to find an empty restaurant and booth that was all taped up and eating utensils that seemed unclean and plastic-like all in a bin unclear if they had been cleaned or not. Eventually when someone finally came around I ordered a plate with rice and cubed steak, I definitely didn't receive that. My plate had fried meat, and burnt rice and lettuce. I was eating when all of the sudden I saw a huge bug walk out from underneath the meat and all around my salad... I can't even tell you how disgusted I felt. I searched for help for over 7 minutes with no one in sight. I peaked above my booth to find my waiter hiding and scrolling on his phone... when I got his attention and told him about the bug in my food he checked the air... and asked where, I said it came out from underneath the meat. Then he stared at me and then asked if I wanted a fresh plate. He didn't bother to apologize, and eventually when the new plate was brought out the chef didn't apologize either! They didn't even offer a discount and I paid full price... to top it all off they forgot to give me my card back and I left and had to return to that nightmare of a restaurant to get it back. We were killing time before a game at Frontwave arena, and when there was a line out the door of Teri Cafe, we decided to wander down the strip mall to this hidden gem in the corner. We walked in and the huge dining room only had one table occupied. We were greeted by the host/waiter/only employee and told to sit anywhere we liked. We walked over a lil footbridge covering an indoor fish pond and selected a booth. He took our orders pretty quickly (fresh spring rolls and 2 bowls of pho tai), and brought out ice waters with lime. Solid pho, with a good portion of meat and noodles. The shrimp in the spring rolls was huge, and tasted slightly fishy. Based on the beef banh mi and the pate + protein (I forgot), it was very, very satisfying. The sandwich was packed with protein and pickled vegetables. It was just the right size because I am weight concscious. I liked the extensive menu but it makes it harder to choose. I guess I will have to come back and try the other items! It was a 98 degree day so although I was craving pho, I didn't order it for lunch. I did see the huge bowls being served to other patrons, though, so that will be on my to order list next time. The food is okay. I've been ordering spring rolls and fried rice from them for a year. Tonight I tried to order crispy flat rice noodle. The first time it came out it wasn't crispy at all, it was steamed (no photo available). I returned and asked very politely for the noodles to be a little crispy, as he agreed to that modification on the original phone order. He was rude to me and returned 10 minutes later with deep fried noodles that were not edible (photo #1). I felt like he was trying to tell me to take my business elsewhere. I again, politely asked for noodles that were not deep fried, but crispy (photo #2). He came back for the third time with an even bigger attitude and the right noodles. Love this place, just because the pho beef booth was flavorful and they had my favorite Vietnamese fresh roll, the Neum Nguon (pork meatball). Most Vietnamese places have your usual fried egg rolls and shrimp/pork spring rolls but not the port meatball. My brother recommended Annam to be as he lives up the street in Vista. I'm down in SD for a 3-day golf tournament and I usually stay with my brother in Vista when I come solo. He went to work and I wanted noodles. Annam hit the spot. No frills, low key, great service and good food. I also ordered the Pho Tai Nam which was perfect, brisket and rare beef.
