We ordered the cranberry turkey sandwich, Italian and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup to share with an extra side order of sourdough. The sourdough alone was phenomenal. Crusty exterior with a fluffy interior that just melted! I think I scarfed down my sandwich a little too quickly because everything was balanced so well, and the bread absolutely divine. They have a nice variety of hot and cold sandwiches like turkey and avocado, roast beef, classic Italian, and vegetarian options, all served on delicious sourdough. The cranberry turkey sandwich is absolutely delicious! They even have different soups and salads too. You can also buy loaves of baked bread to take home, which is always a good idea. I recommend the par-baked baguette, so you can take it home and enjoy it extra warm! Ordering ahead is easy and definitely saves a lot of time. Excellent. Everybody is super friendly and the food is good. Been here a couple of times and the experience was similar. Attentive staff too, they noticed we ordered all vegetarian except the clam chowder and one of them came to us and said that they have a pork base and wanted to make sure that was okay. We have limited meat and changed it to the Mac and cheese at their recommendation. I normally don't rave about Mac and cheese but this was excellent. For $15.29 after tax, my wife and I split an 8 inch Grilled Chicken Pesto. The star of the sandwich is definitely the sourdough bread. Fresh, light, flavorful and toasted perfectly. The house sauce and dijon pairing on the sandwich wasn't heavy but wish it had a little more punch on the flavor. Chicken was very thinly sliced. Generous amount of lettuce and tomato. Would have liked if there was more protein as part of the regular serving because the portion does get lost in the rest of the toppings. Would order extra meat - didn't catch the price of it. We've been driving by for ages and finally pulled the plug to try this location of West Coast Sourdough. We luckily went inbetween lunch and dinner so they didn't seem busy at all. My husband and I easily placed our orders, we paid, and then we waited for almost 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches. While normally this would be a decent wait time, there was only 2 other customers together in the store (besides us) and 4-5 staff members working at once. It seemed a little silly that a 4" and 6" sandwich could take so long with so few customers and a large team working. It's possible they were waiting on fresh loaves to make the sandwiches but that is unknown to us. Was it worth the wait? Yes and no. We absolutely loved our sandwiches. My husband loved his Ruben and I devoured my grilled chicken pesto. The sourdough loaf was perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The pesto and chicken combo was just a dream. So while we were over enjoyed with our sandwiches, overall it was not worth the wait time and price of each sandwich. It did seem a bit expensive compared to Boudin, Panera, Corner Bakery, Subway, etc. While these options may not compare exactly, they feel similar. If we order ahead next time and are nearby, it could be worth it to go again. We really did love the taste of each sandwich! Although I have some negatives reviewed above, it has nothing to do with the staff as is, more the process the company puts the staff through to serve guests. I am under impressed. The sourdough is less than 3 inches in diameter. The beef has no pink, just grey and I'm guessing there's no more than 2 ounces of meat in a 4 inch sandwich and perhaps 3 ounces in the 6 inch. This was $24. Both sandwiches were stuck to the wrapper and it was very salty. In addition, I ordered and the sandwiches were not ready on time. There were three people working behind the counter and only one customer in the place ahead of me. With The foregoing in mind, I would recommend any other place but here. First visit. We went on a Thursday about 5:45 and was not busy and there seemed to be plenty of people working and they closed at 7pm. May seem a bit odd to most but we weren't ever acknowledged or greeted until we spoke to the cashier. Placed our order easily and waited about 10 minutes for our order number to be announced and delivered to our table. Sandwiches were great but as I sat there and watched a fair amount of customers walk in I noticed they were never greeted as well. Just seemed odd to me as the place is new and how important service is especially when there were So many people working that day. The customer service was great everyone was friendly but it was pretty pricy for my liking (I spent almost $40 for not much food) 2 chips, a full size sandwich and half of a sandwich and clam chowder. I will say the clam chowder was delicious. The sandwiches weren't great at all, not filling so you are paying a steep price for mostly bread. Not much flavor. I don't like leaving a bad review for a small business but it's definitely a warning for people coming here that it's not cheap and you aren't getting a lot. I will say I have tried a few of their salads (a family member brought them to the pool once) and the salads were really good! So if I were to come back it would be for a salad. read more

Happy to see a West Coast Sourdough in Oceanside. We have enjoyed salads and sandwiches at their Windsor and Walnut Creek locations. The ingredients are of high quality and very delicious. I ordered the Cobb Salad and my wife the Italian. Both were very tasty and enough to satisfy any appetite. Both salads included slices of sourdough bread. The reason for only 4 stars is the fact their avocados were not ripe and therefore missing in the salad. They added additional turkey and bacon to make up for the missing avocado but it was not the same without the avocado. I still highly recommend West Coast Sourdough and will award 5 stars if on my next visit they include all ingredients. read more

Finally got a chance to try this place. I have to say, their chicken poblano pepper soup is delicious! My mom shared this, along with a Cobb salad and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Been waiting patiently since I found out West Coast Sourdough was opening in the new Arroyo Verde shopping center in Rancho Del Oro. Parking is spacious as the shopping center is still filling out. We decided to try an assortment of sandwiches and the Mac & Cheese bread bowl. Our order consisted of the French Dip,Pastrami and Cracked Pepper Turkey sandwiches. All three were excellent. Very flavorful ingredients that gave me comfort as all three were hot sandwiches.. Portions were good size although I might order extra meat on mine next time but regular was ok for me also. I'd skip on the bread bowl for the Mac & Cheese and just order it à la carte. Just thinking of those sandwiches now especially the French Dip and Pastrami with thier Grey Pouoon mustard packets and Au Jus is making me want to get more very soon. I tried this place for the first time. They have a good variety of sandwiches, both hot and cold. I chose a hot buffalo chicken. It is served with Coleslaw and pepper jack cheese. The bread was fresh and tasty. Didn't seem to have much coleslaw and the chicken was skimpy. While it tasted pretty good, I often was only tasting the bread. This was the most stoic group of people I've seen in a food place. No one seemed to smile but the cashier. I'd like rate it higher, and will go back and try a cold sandwich. read more

They finally open! Came in today (5/12/24) for lunch. They have a pretty simple menu of sandwiches, soups, and salads. Once the family and I got to the front of the line we were greeted by a very friendly lady who took our order. We had a turkey and cheese with clam chowder, a turkey and salami with potato soup, and a French dip. Everything was delicious! It was one of the best French dips I've had in a long, long time. I've been looking forward to this place opening and was very excited when I saw the "now open" sign. Unfortunately, their online ordering isn't available yet so had to wait a couple days to go in. They definitely offer quite a few sandwich options, along with soups, mac and cheese and salads. It appears two of the soups are available everyday (clam chowder and tomato bisque), along with one that changes daily. You can get the soup in a cup, bowl or bread bowl. They open at 10:00 AM and we arrived around 11:30 AM. There were quite a few people already sitting down with their meals and a couple people in line. It's a smaller place but they've done the best they can with the seating. There are a quite a few tables, most are four seaters but against the left wall, when you walk in, they might have put one too many in that space just for comfort of those sitting at the tables. They're so close together I can see a problem with people trying to get in and out of their seats if someone is sitting behind them. While eating the lines got very long, with a lot of people coming in from nearby businesses. Most got their orders to go so I think when they turn the online ordering option on it will be well used. If you only have a 30-minute lunch break you don't have a lot of time to wait for an order. There were two of us in our group and one ordered the BLT and the soup of the day (chicken poblano) as a "meal" option and found both to be excellent. I got the French dip and when I ordered it the cashier mentioned something about it be a "chefs (can't remember the word she used) sandwich" and none of the ingredients could be changed. I was good with that but didn't realize it had a "house sauce" on it and after taking a bite immediately knew I was not a fan of that house sauce. That's all on me though, I'm a very picky eater and there are very few sauces I like so don't take my dislike of it as anything other than that. I made mine a meal as well and chose the mac and cheese. Very disappointed in that as well. First it was very cold, not like a cool room temperature but refrigerator cold. I took it back asking if it was supposed to be cold, which would be weird, but it wasn't. Apparently, whatever they use to heat it wasn't turned on or broken. They heated it up for me and I found it to be very bland. It's a creamy type and was definitely a box type but I will add they never said it was homemade. I love mac and cheese so always try it whenever I find one at a restaurant and decide from there whether or not I'd order it again in the future. The person I was with has gone back again and this time chose the tomato bisque as her soup and was still very pleased with her meal. She has since declared it's her new favorite restaurant. I'll go back again to try another sandwich and see how it goes from there. Note: I gave it a three star as the average score between the two of us. If 3.5 was an option I would have chosen that. Visiting from the east coast and always looking for a great sandwich. This place did not disappoint. I got the #9 Cajun Turkey. All the ingredients were fresh. The sourdough roll was just the right thickness and they built the sandwhich soo neatly with appropriate ratios. The best thing was the turkey was sliced very thin and "fluffed" on the bread. When we get home we realize that they forgot the au jue for the French dip. Realizing they were about to close I tried to call but they do not list their number. Instead they have a "send us a message option". Sent a message about the missing dip for our French dip. No reply. Not even the next day. A week later decided to try again. Mentioned the missing item from the week before and was told "yeah that type of thing happens a lot". Unbelievable, no apology at all. This time we get home and the hot soup was cold. The sandwiches are delicious, love their turkey and their pesto aioli. As someone who is gluten free, their gf bread (as a roll) is delicious! My husband and I have been going here weekly for quite some time however it was a recent interaction that made me want to submit a review (which is rare). We were having a tough time in our family recently and not in the position to go pick up food. We saw the deli on door dash however they don't have the option to sub gf bread. We called in and this lady answered and I asked if there was a way we could edit the order and pay for the bread. She said not to worry about it and she would make an internal note. I broke down because it was such a kind gesture that made me feel like a WIN for a hard week. Her customer service and the way she handled the call was outstanding. As someone who is in leadership at a corporate company, I know good service and she was beyond that. Additionally, they sent the door dash with an extra treat and wrote a note. I like the variety of menu items available at West Coast Sourdough. The food is always good. The main reason why I am giving it three stars is because of the wait. I have yet to stop by and not experience extremely long wait times. I even took the time to enter an online order to find out that it was not available. Then I came to the location to see a long line. Fortunately, the cashier told me it would take 15 minutes. By the time my food was ready, it was close to 35 minutes.
