Food was surprisingly above average and tasted fresh for being in the middle of nowhere, especially the ho fun, noodles tasted fresh. Like many others, i stopped to use the supercharger.... However very glad we did. Had the deluxe wanton soup and it was great, full of plump wantons, shrimps veggies, served hot and fast! I travel to Laytonville from Arcata fairly regularly, but this was the first time I'd ever stopped in at Anna's. I am very happy to have discovered this place, because it felt like a refreshing respite from the heat and the window at my table provided a pleasant view. Driving through and my friend needed to charge her car. It said it would take an hour to charge so we decided to eat here since it's in the same parking lot. The restaurant was empty for a Friday night but they had a lot of to go orders. Got the chicken broccoli and house special pan fried noodles. If you're thinking about getting Asian food while you're charging your Tesla and you're from out of town, I strongly suggest reading all the comments here on Yelp first before even entering the vicinity of this restaurant. There are so many low star reviews to read, focus on those. If you only had Asian food in Laytonville and not anywhere else even including your own house, great! You can eat here. But if you're only passing through, thinking of having Asian food in the middle of nowhere, rethink your choices. Or roll the dice, entirely up to you. You've been given a chance to make a choice. You have money to buy a Tesla and go on long drives, you'll have enough money to waste here. Maybe just order beef broccoli and plain rice to play it safe. We came in off the highway to have some lunch and we are so glad we stopped! Best egg rolls I've had in a very long time. They are fresh, light, crispy, and really big! We ordered chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken and both items came out fast and piping hot. Service was friendly and fast. We did have the restaurant to ourselves, and after reading other reviews, we were nervous. I'm not sure what other people's experiences were, but our food was delicious and prices are so good! Not one to write Yelp reviews but after seeing all of the 1 stars I felt I needed to. I am from the Bay Area and have had all different walks of Asian food. For being in the middle of no where it was just as good as the bay. Everything had so much flavor. Bbq buns, pot stickers, orange chicken, Mongolian beef. The only thing you could say lacked flavor was the fried rice but with how flavorful everything else was it balanced perfectly. The waitress was exstreamly nice. Anna's is a random little Chinese spot on the way back down south from Redwood National Park. They are currently not open for dine in. Take Out only. Order over the phone if you do not want to wait. Large parking lot. Location is super random right off of the 101 but you cannot miss it. It is the only chinese restaurant in the area. Prawn Fried Rice - $10 Chicken Chow Mein - $9.75 Huge portions. Kirkland bottled water and veggies are definitely safe choices. Service was very fast. Restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. As long as your expectations are reset for rural California, then this place is solid. We had no complaints but admittedly we were not expecting much. The quality of the meat (beef, chicken) is much lower than what we are accustomed to back home. I would avoid the seafood. read more

Disclaimer: I grew up in a family of chefs who owned Chinese restaurants. And our lines were long too. After being on the road for about 4 weeks and eating mostly American, Mexican, or Italian food, I was really craving something Asian. Most Asian places I passed by too quickly. This one had a Tesla Charging station right in front so I easily pulled in. I ordered prawn fried rice. Rice was a little hard but edible. It needed more wrist action when tossing the wok. The rice was very bland. I don't use soy sauce for my fried rice but here I needed it and it only tasted okay. BTW, you need to ask for soy sauce (& other condiments). She only gave me one soy sauce. I didn't finish it because it was a lot of rice for 1 person but I tried to find all the prawns to count them and report back. 7 prawns, I tried digging deep into the box to make sure I was giving you all an accurate count. read more

I'd give it 0 stars if I could. The only reason we entered was because this was at the Tesla Super Charging Station. When we entered there were a number of signs saying restrooms weren't available. We inquired and found out if we were paying customers then we could use them which was acceptable. We were seated in a dining room where the majority of the lights were turned off creating a very dark room at 2pm in the afternoon. It was as if they were trying to save electricity. The waitress was wearing a coat while serving us because the dining room was so cold. We ordered soup, tea, ice water, and the pau pau platter. The water tasted horrible and was not fit for drinking. Needless to say this was some of the worst food we've ever had. Charge your Tesla, do not eat the food. read more

The chicken tasted mere hours away from going completely bad. The fried rice was wet. WET!! Additionally the rice was undercooked. The soup tasted like it was made with swimming pool water - I could tasted chlorine in it - ugh. In all, I had a couple spoons of fried rice and soup before I gave up. As a vegetarian on Weight Watchers, I am always glad for roadside food that is healthy and has lots of veggies. Anna's was recommended to us by our family in Arcata, and we were very pleased by it as well. The vegetables were tender and cooked just the right amount. The staff was friendly and accommodating of requests for different preparations. The flavorings were a bit on the milder side, but the generous array of tableside condiments let us each season our dish to match our preferences. We will be happy to return in the future when our travels take us through here. read more

Stopped to charge our car here at the super charger. We stopped here last time we were up this way and ate here. It is dinner time so we thought we'd grab a bite while we waited for our charge. I went to throw some coffee cups away in the bins behind the restaurant. The man told me "no" when I asked if I could use the large bins for my handful of paper goods I needed to toss. We were going to go inside and order food as we did the last time. We have decided Mr. "No" will never get our business again. He seems clueless as to where his customers come from. Having grown up in an area with an abundance of Chinese restaurants and lots of experience eating from numerous Chinese restaurants throughout my life time, I was actually pleasantly surprised at how authentic and delicious the food was at Anna's Asian Palace. Currently, the restaurant is take out only due to COVID restrictions. You need to call in ahead of time to order your food. Food was hot and fresh when we got our order. We actually found this place because we needed to charge our Tesla. My overall opinion of the food is a 4/5. It was very good, but I personally think they could have kicked up the flavoring and spices just a tad bit more. This is my opinion while comparing the food with highly popular Chinese restaurants I've had. Overall, I really recommend giving this place a try! I have to agree with Lynn. We stopped to charge our Tesla and to eat. After asking to use the restroom (big sign out restrooms only for customers), my intention was to eat there. After getting the weird vibe from my simple question can I use your bathroom? We plan on eating here... He looked at me like I was dumb. Anyways, no kids menu and after looking on here I decided not to eat here. Dumpsters in back also are padlocked so if you are traveling and charging, it sounds like their food isn't good except for locals that think it is, and they certainly aren't the most friendly. Won't be giving this small mom and pop place a try. Parking lot was empty and nobody in the restaurant. Assuming if they were more nice to the Tesla charging people they would be so much busier! Charged my Tesla for longer than needed because this random spot in the middle of nowhere had killer salt & pepper chicken wings, tempura asparagus (seasonal), old school won ton soup (soothing on a long drive), and steam rice (again, great comfort food for a long drive). The place is still sort of hit and miss. It seems to have gotten marginally better since the name Anna was taken off the marquee. Now it's just Asian Palace. Trash disposal has always been bizarre in Laytonville. About the only place in town that you can throw your car trash away without getting attitude is the Chevron station. I read more
