We decided to try somewhere new in Willits and I chose here. I am so happy we decided to come here. The store is a sit down restaurant but the walls have Mexican grocery store items that you can buy. The lady that helped us was really nice as we ordered our order to-go. I went with 2 crispy pastor tacos, lingua street taco, and an elote. Upon getting our order, I asked for extra hot sauce stating I would like the hottest one they had. I LOVE hot and spicy food and sauces. She tells me they have a very spicy chili oil but it's extra. You better believe I paid for the super spicy chili oil. The oil was amazing. The chilis were blended down into a thick paste in the oil. She told me to be careful since it can irritate your skin. I started with one of their tortilla chips and dip a little corner in to try it. The flavor had a smokiness to it. It is similar to thai chili oil. It was spicy but it was manageable. I proceeded to cover my crispy tacos in globs of it. Well, the heat builds hahaha my lips were puffy from eating so much and my mouth was on fire a little but I didn't feel like I was dying. Some water helped clear it up. If you like spicy, this oil is definitely something to try. Be careful if you don't normally eat very spicy. The crispy pastor tacos were pretty good. The pastor was seasoned a little different than what I have ever had when ordering pastor but still good flavor it was just a little on the salty side. I probably will change meat type next time. The tacos came with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, and a little pico. I asked for no sour cream. The tortillas have great flavor and were super crispy. There was a lot of extra lettuce, which I appreciate. My tripa street taco came with radish and a grilled jalapeños tucked inside the tinfoil which was a nice surprise since I thought it was just the taco. The tripa was fried nicely and was crispy. The flavor was simple but good. This taco wasn't salt which I liked. I covered this in chili oil as well lol. I also got an elote that I didn't take a picture of. I think by the time I ate it the heat had caused it to sweat a little so the toppings were dripping off a little. The flavor was good. Not too much not too little tajin so it was good for me. The elote was ok. I probably shouldn't have eaten in hot. Don't know if I would order it again. I love this place. It was a pleasant surprise for sure. I will absolutely be stopping here again on long trips out of town. My boyfriend loved his food. He stated it was some of the best chili verde he has had and will be telling his coworkers to make a pitstop here on their way out. Chili oil 5/5 Food 4/5 read more

Incredible find!! Takes me back to my traveling days down in Peru and Guatemala. Fantastic food, friendly service and great prices! We came for dinner one night and returned for lunch the next day. The first night we had Pastor tacos, the fajitas and a grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla. We had it to go and enjoyed it all in our hotel room. It was so good we returned the next day for breakfast/lunch. My husband had the huevos rancheros with chorizo and I had 3 more pastor tacos. So delicious!! read more

This place has changed hands recently and has suffered for it. My Pollo el Pastor is no more, regardless of what the menu says.

The flavor was just impeccable all of their ingredients were fresh. Their crispy tacos did not disappoint. The super nachos were definitely the best. The customer service was very kind. For anyone coming through this little town trying to find a nice affordable meal this is definitely the place. It was so good I would drive 100 miles just to get a taco. Looking for authentic Mexican food? From the limes, onions, and loads of cilantro, all the way to abuela standing in the kitchen making the best tacos I've had in ages was exactly what I wanted. Stumbled upon this tiny place in tiny Willits CA and am sad that it's not right down the street from us! It looks like a family run place with Mama in the kitchen. Ordered carne asada tacos and an enchilada that also had cheese and carne asada in it. Hubs ordered the same. We live in Arizona so eat Mexican food a lot. We stopped here for a late lunch on our way home from camping in the redwoods. The staff were super friendly and the food was really, really good. My partner got a chimichanga that was insane. My carnitas tacos were great. The beans and rice were surprisingly impressive. It's a casual place but everything was very nicely plated. Seating is all indoors, but it's a large airy space and staff were wearing masks. There's also a restroom for customers. Will definitely return at our next opportunity! read more

Yes, there are about 12 different Mexican restaurants in Willits, believe it or not. But they all have their niches of what they make really well. For Taqueria Maria's, I really LOVE their whole fried fish. Yep, a whole fish dropped into the fryer - no breading of course - just enough to cook the inside and leave the outside a little crispy. Then you get rice and beans and tortillas and slices of avocado and salad and a bunch of lime wedges with it so you can fix it up into little fish tacos. SO good and fresh. I also think their chile rellenos are really special. The salsa is thick and mole-esque. The chiles are fresh and absolutely STUFFED with cheese. It is a decadent dish and very well prepared by hand. We were passing through Willits and in need of dinner. Our daughter requested Mexican and this was the place to go based on previous on Yelp reviews. We shared the steak fajitas, which were absolutely delicious ( on the spicy side) and the portion size was very generous, so generous that we have leftovers :) The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but if passing through again we'd definitely go back. Just ok. The meat quality of the carne asada was nothing to write home about and the tortillas on my tacos were soggy and falling apart. The salsa didn't really stand out as anything special either. I liked the spiciness though- heavy on the onion but with the grilled pepper and radish, I liked the burn. Fantastic little Mexican restaurant. Authentic flavors, an expansive (not expensive) menu with some choices you don't often see (try the alambres or shrimp soup if you haven't before). Stopped here twice. Once on our way to Fort Bragg, and again on the way home. Yes. It's that good! Tacos the first time. Both Carne Asada and AL pastor were delicious! Burritos for round two.
