Birthday cake
Kit Yee Y.

I haven't had a cake from Anna's Cake House in a long time. I had it again today. It still tasted good and the quality has remained the same. The cake design looked the same many years ago. I liked the cake was not too sweet and it had mixed fruits on top and inside the layers. There are different Chinese bakeries such as St. Germaine's Bakery, Maxim's, and T&T's in the market. Anna's Cake House may consider providing more varieties or update the cake designs or presentations in order to keep up the business among these bakeries. Anna's Cake House is a very traditional bakery to me.

I stop by on the rare occasion for desserts. The pastries are tasty. There is a good variety to choose from if you show up early enough.

Tasty and fresh buns. My favourite are their Curry Beef Buns and their Curry Beef puff pastry.

Landsdown Mall location has good discount after 6:30pm (Wed - Fri) Beware of crazy Chinese shoppers fighting over baked goods @ this time.

Even though I'm not a fan of the coconut cakes, it seems many others are.

Came for a late-night dessert They have a policy where you…read morehave to order at least the number of dishes as the people seated inside but it can be to go if needed for some of the items. The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

We stopped by at lunchtime at first, but they weren't open yet. Since we really wanted to try it, we called again in the evening to confirm their hours before heading back--and we're so glad we did. The service was excellent from start to finish. They were incredibly patient and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food did not disappoint. All the Taiwanese snacks we tried were delicious and full of authentic flavors. Our absolute favorite was the shaved ice--it was refreshing, perfectly textured, and just amazing! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine Taiwanese food and warm, attentive service. Definitely a 5-star experience!

Hole-in-the-wall gem of a find we stumbled upon after going to Costco. At first when we went…read moreinside, I think I wasn't the only one in our party of 9 to wonder what the heck we walked into and wondered if we should leave. The decorations are dated and they have a couch and TV riiiiight behind the ordering counter, lol. God bless the Chinese uncle that owns and runs the place... he and the lady taking the order barely spoke English, so we stumbled with our Mandarin. I think they even spoke Taiwanese with each other?!? Instead of ordering multiple drinks, we just ordered the one mango lover's coconut pudding. Honestly, we didn't know what the heck we ordered and we ordered it to go. It took a little while to prepare, but when it came we were presented with a coconut wrapped in cellophane. We were intrigued and had to open it right then and there. We were treated to a coconut FILLED with fresh mango, mochi, and pudding... all in a fresh coconut - the coconut meat was thin, so you knew it was juicy and fresh! My oldest kid did his best to claim it all for himself as we all wanted a taste. In the end, we did the only thing logical and had to order a second. I would absolutely, hands-down, recommend this place. The family that owns the place deserves our patronage and they've earned it in their own humble way. God bless.
