This was my first experience at an Anna's. Arrived at 12:43 after already having added our name to the waitlist. We were 8th in line. Took quite a while to get seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found the restaurant to be incredibly warm which was a bit uncomfortable for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nothing was standing out to me, so I did settle on the big breakfast because I'm a fan of a little of everything and this way I didnt have to choose. It originally came without the bacon, but that was quickly remedied. The sourdough bread was good, their pancakes are a bit on the sweet side and not cakey (cakey is actually what I prefer), the eggs and meats were standard (sausage link was kind of like a brown n serve, bacon was on the crispy side if that's your jam.) but tasted good. I enjoyed the american fries. Only other small complaint is the syrup caraf was, even visibly, covered in syrup making it impossible to pick up without totally sticky hands. Could have used some wet naps. It was overall, a very slow experience and we didn't get out of there until 2:41. The service was friendly. We had lunch at the Northland location today and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found the both the ambiance and service to be excellent[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but frankly the food was sloppy. I ordered the BLT with avocado and sweet potato fries. The bacon, though of good quality, was undercooked and the bread was burnt on the edges. The bottom slices were backwards so you had to take the sandwich apart to put it back together in order to eat it. The sweet potato fries were limp. I would have sent it back, but we had waited a bit long for our food and we were hungry. I'm not sure if I would go back. read more

The last time we were in there, we were seated right away. Ordered our drinks. We had water and 2 coffees. One regular, one decaf. The decaf was so full of coffee grounds we couldn't drink it. We ordered food and it took forever to come. The food is always delicious, but if the restaurant is busy, be prepared for a very long wait for your food. Blair is the reason we came back today . She is an awesome server who makes you feel at home . My wife was craving pumpkin pancakes and these are the best around , side note to ask for all the toppings on the side so you can make it to your level of sweetness . I went for the BLT which I must say was a little skimpy on the B , needs more bacon ... the fruit cup I subbed in for fries was very fresh w melon pineapple and berries . Stopped by for lunch and I was disappointed in the service and quality of the food. This place has changed. The receptionist was hanging out at the bar, not paying attention to the customers entering the door. I ordered a traditional breakfast with eggs and bacon, and it just tasted funny. The cooking oil in the eggs was really strange. The bacon was over overcooked, This place used to be really nice quality of food and it is changed. When I walked in the greeters were having fun at the counter while I waited to be seated. Basically if you want to be a better company be welcoming as soon as a customer enters your dirty door. And get rid of all the fake photos. Your food does not look like that. read more

Always a must stop when visiting family in Grand Rapids, we LOVE Anna's House. The vibe & decor of the restaurant is so airy, bright, and decorated with a old school yet contemporary diner feel. Old toasters and bright blues and whites plastered around the room. The food is top notch quality - made with the freshest ingredients and they offer tons of dairy free options, vegan, and gluten-free substitutions. I went classic with eggs, sausage, potatoes, and fruit. A REAL fruit bowl with berries and pineapple. Perfectly cooked and crunchy hash browns. Let me tell you something about Katie at Anna's House -- she may be fun-sized, but she runs that breakfast floor like a caffeine-powered tornado in an apron. The second I walked in, she hit me with a smile so bright I got a tan. My iced tea wasn't just refilled -- it was psychically topped off. I took a sip, blinked, and somehow it was full again. I think she's in league with the breakfast gods or has a portal to an endless tea dimension. She's short, sassy, and faster than a waffle on a runaway plate. You could tell she's been through the breakfast trenches -- eggs flying, bacon sizzling -- and came out on top holding a spatula like a sword. At one point she dropped a one-liner so quick I almost spit out my hash browns. Katie's got the kind of sass that could turn a bad morning into a stand-up comedy show. If she ever leaves Anna's House, the whole place might just shut down out of emotional devastation. If you go and don't sit in Katie's section, you're basically saying you hate joy, laughter, and properly refilled iced tea. 10/10 -- tiny server, huge personality, endless fun. 5 minutes of wait time at noon on a Sunday - whereas per yelp the other Anna's house on Plainfield the wait time was 35 minutes!!! So going to this one was a no-brainer. Very in tune with her customers, she doubled checked before refilling coffees, had the condiment lids ready for the takeout box, and was just terrific in general. Summary: Food was yummy (as always) but service was different/unusual so we probably won't return to this location. Longer: We really like Ana's house and go often and wanted to try this new location (we usually do Plainfield of East Beltline). Did the waitlist using Yelp which worked great (as usual). Got seated right away but it took a while before anyone to come to the table. We ordered coffees and after 20 minutes of being seated and ordering drinks, they arrived. We ordered our food and then waited and waited (noticing many other people around us getting their food before us, despite ordering after). We finished our coffees and still waited for our food. Our server asked if we were ready for the check and we said we didn't even have our food yet... they replied "oh" then left. 10 minutes later the food finally came. We aren't sure if they forgot to put the ticket in but it was MUCH longer than any of our other times coming to Ana's House (and we never got a reason). Our server caught they made something wrong on my husband's dish but brought the rest out since we had been waiting (which we were grateful for). There was another thing missing that my husband brought up and they corrected it. I'm not sure if, with it being newer, people are still learning. Our food eventually was good though... we just didn't enjoy the process (and no one ever apologized or explained why all the issues were happening) so we will be visiting other locations in the future. read more

I was SO excited to see the old Burger King revamped in to the most adorable Anna's House. It is such a fun and unique space, the truly did a wonderful job renovating it! My kids LOVED the toaster column. Right off the bat, everyone we encountered that worked there was SO friendly! I was complimented by the host and our waitress right away - literally the sweetest people. We arrived at 10AM on a snow day and while it was busy, we got a table right away. This location has lots of seating! Love that they have kids menus for kid's to color on, AND the recycle the crayons - love it! I am always impressed by their menu - unique, creative, and everything sounds delicious! I love to see a big vegan section, as well! One kiddo got french toast and devoured the whole plate. Second kiddo got chicken fingers and fries (yes, for breakfast lol) and the fries were SO good and the chicken fingers were nice big pieces. I got the Hippie Hash, sub guac for sour cream.. SO GOOD. I love a savory breakfast and I'm like kiddo #2 - i could eat dinner for breakfast, so i loved all the veggies and heartiness of this bowl. The new Anna's house on Northland is adorable! Love the toaster collection. One of the most consistent things at any Anna's I have eaten at is service. I don't know how they do it, great training for sure, but the people they hire aren't fake smiling at you, they are being genuinely nice. Food is also very consistent. We took out of town friends on Sunday, and one of the friends lovvvvvves brunch, favorite meal anytime anywhere - and he said it was one of the absolute best pancakes he has ever had. We started with the loaded breakfast tots for the table, they were fantastic, crisp exterior cheesy interior. Husband was very happy with the Anna's skillet. I don't remember which omelet one of the friends ordered but he was extremely happy with it also. I think I had one of the best dishes: veggie quesadilla with aioli on the side. It was packed full of vegetables, delicious. Parking is easy. Wait list is super convenient (use it) we walked in to our table right past people who were waiting. read more

Second time I've tried Anna's and the second time I have been disappointed. We were greeted promptly and our server was friendly and helpful. That is where our pleasant time stopped. The food took a long time to come out, my hash browns were overcooked, my wife's side of bacon was forgotten. She was more than half way through her meal by the time it arrived at our table. Our server was hard to get a hold of after delivering our meal. Other staff were doing chores. I can only guess it was close to closing time and they were more interested in getting things cleaned up so they could get out of there than attend to their customers. The food was okay. I tried the corned beef in my omelette and it was really not anything to write home about. We love Anna's. However, we had to wait an extra half hour to be seated for a total of an hour wait. (Yes, we checked in using Yelp. Said we had an a wait time of 1-11 minutes which turned into an hour) The service, always great. Ambiance was nice and clean. Our food... my omelette was as good as a cheap b-fast place. The avocado toast wasn't nearly as good as your Plainfield store... avocado was spread really thin and eggs had runny whites after we asked to be cooked over medium. Wife couldn't eat them so she ate her fruit bowl instead. They apologized and offered to remake but couldn't wait another 45 minutes for it to come out.
