This gem does the best job on natural nails! My cuticles are always clean and I never get any bubbles when coming here. I go to Grace and Julie (if one is fully booked) they both clean up my nails really nicely and I never leave here unsatisfied. The only downside to this place is their lack of color selection and sometimes their wait time is an hour+. I'm gonna start bringing my own nail polishes here because they only have more than one bottle of the same colors. I dont mind the lack of color selection simply because they do the best job on your nails. They put the same, if not more effort on your toes as your nails. They do an amazing job of cleaning up my cuticles and the paint job is also just as good as the nails. Right on 71st so its super easy to get to. Would recommend! read more

I wish there was a 0 star option! DON'T GO IN THIS SPOT. All the bad reviews are completely TRUE. This is the 2nd time coming here, just because I was very busy and this is the only place where I could walk-in at 7pm. I did UV gel last time, the only person who apparently can make it, didn't file the nails completely (she actually left a lot of old-gel on it) and when I've asked, she said no, that's fine that's fine. Ok, final result wasn't too bad, I expected worst. So today I went again after 3 weeks because I had some nails broken, it turns out when the same person removes the old ones, that I had some kind of infection on almost all nails on my right hand. It's the first time it happens to me - it's been 15 years I get my nails done with UV gel. I was very worried and the responsible came and said it was because I waited too long, and it was just some water that went under my gel. Wow, I bet this had nothing to do with the fact they didn't remove my old gel last time!!!! They didn't want to do a French manicure as I've asked, because they were in a rush. I had to choose a color. And still, it seemed the girl couldn't wait to get rid of me. Talking with another colleague in Chinese ALL the time. I was SO pissed off. However, once finished they ask me to pay, btw an outrageous price (which I wouldn't mind for a job well done, but it's so outrageous after all the unprofessional behavior, dirtiness and the infection I went through!!!!). So I've suggested the least they could do, was a little discount. I'd have really really appreciated if they even said $5. Because at least it would've meant they realized the mess they made. Still, no! They called the owner to ask her, and she basically blamed me. I didn't know UV gel nails needed to be done every week guys! I used to go here a lot but notice over the past couple of years they have steadily declined in service. -Polish choices need a major update. -I had to stop the manicurist from once attempting to remove my acrylics with a METROCARD!!! Honestly, what reputable salon even does that anymore instead of removing them correctly??? The fact that a customer has to *insist* acrylics are removed properly instead of being pried off (and causing damage to the real nail underneath) should say a lot about a salon. -This past trip the manicurist made my cuticle bleed due to it being cut accidentally. She was apologetic, and called another employee over to see (maybe the manager?), but no discount was offered due to their error (and the pain it caused), nor did they seem to consider the hygienic risk of someone opening bleeding in their salon. My nail bed wasn't just slightly pricked...my finger was literally dripping blood. The manicurist proceeded with her task just occasionally wiping up dripped blood on her desk with a paper towel. No bandaid was offered (when I asked for one repeatedly she didn't understand what I was saying). Another manicurist who eventually noticed me holding my dripping, bloody finger up gave me a bandaid and a paper towel. God knows how well she cleaned her tools after completing my manicure. -There is absolutely no customer service here anymore. I don't know if they had a change in management, or what, but no one really seems happy to be there. Oftentimes there is yelling in the shop between employees or manager and employees. -If you're the first customer in the door, you may still find yourself waiting. Usually because the manicurist is sitting at her station eating breakfast and won't call you over until she's done. I hate leaving bad reviews but I think I have to do it this time to help other customers like me. $91 is not worth it with the service and treatment that they can provide their customers. This is my first time having my nails done on this nail salon and it will be my last. I usually get a gel manicure and it's my first time to get acrylic nails with nail art, I don't really mind the price and the wait times because I understand that this type of service is time consuming and nail art is not easy for everyone. The first lady who worked on my nails is okay at first, I told her that it's going to be my first time to have acryllic. I showed her the length and design that I want, she asked me if I want it to be round and I said yes. I felt uncomfortable because we are having issues communicating, I tried my best to speak to her and trust her that she understands. She asked me to relax my hands so she can work on it but it's hard when you are not comfortable, she always talks with her co-worker and they speaks spanish each time and would look at my nails and laugh. They did the same thing 3 times and I chose to ignore it, each time I say thank you to her she ignores me and smirk. I'm not a difficult customer to deal with, I appreciate each effort that's given to me but they chose to be rude and talk behind my back because they thought I'm not the type who will make a scene. The first lady called "Lin" to continue and apply the polish on my nails, I thought they understand that I want my nails to be round and they aren't done yet. She even confirmed and told Lin that I want my nails to be round until I showed Lin the design and she said that my acrylics aren't round for it, the first lady changed her statement and said I want it to be square. I know shapes, I'm not stupid and the first design that I showed her is just to guide her with the length that I want, now it feels like they are blaming me that failed to communicate when I went to the salon prepared to make their job easier. Lin is annoyed that she have to shape my nails again, then she asked if I'm chinese and I said I'm not. I don't understand why is it important to ask for the race or background until I realized that she is asking to see if I will understand chinese coz she did the same thing to me she is talking to her colleague and I can feel that she is complaining and annoyed. She is not fluent and I understand that, but each time she wants me to do something she will pull my finger with force and make it straight. When she saw the design I told her that she doesn't have to do it exactly as on the image but something close to it is totally fine with me. I made adjustments depending on the sticker and tools that she have but while she's doing it she made me feel like she is in a hurry and continues to talk in chinese with her colleague. While we're almost done with my nails she yelled with sighs deeply. I didn't mind that the lines aren't straight and she missed to apply polish on some parts of my nails. I know that's it's a busy day for them and I'm not expecting that their hands are steady after working with a lot of customers but what I don't understand is their bad customer service, racial profiling and talking in their native language laughing. I failed to get the name of the first lady who worked on my nails because I can't wait to get out of that place as soon as possible. I went their to relax after a long week of work and treat myself but that is what I got from the salon. I don't recommend them at all! The price is not worth it for the result and the treatment that I got from them. For me, I rather pay $100 with no hesitation even if the result is not perfect if I was given the right treatment and good customer service. To the owner of the salon, please train your employees on how not to judge someone based on the color of their skin and their background. This is a diverse state and there is nothing wrong if you are proud of your native language but to laugh and give an insulting look to any customer won't help your business grow. read more

If you don't mind being ignored by someone who you're trusting to cut your nails and cuticles, come here. My nail aesthetician barely looked at my toes. I was horrified. She was SO distracted by her environment - people, sounds, cars, new customers - it was ridiculous . All the aestheticians are friends and they talk to each other the WHOLE time. So you think, "well it's nice for people to enjoy where they work". Okay. But when they are too busy talking to each other to look at what they're doing, and they're holding sharp objects, it's a problem. I'll begin with "WOW." Typical Thursday in this neighborhood, all the girls are priming for Friday/Saturday. My regular hair/nail place was very overbooked with guys and gals doing just that -- which is what happens when you run the one clean and respectful places in the area -- and so I had to find an alternate place just for today. I had a gift certificate for Anne's and so I walked in for the first time. The sweatshop factory style hit me first, followed by the fact that there was no discernible manager to ask about the gift certificate. The place was basically empty except for 1-2 clients and the 6-8 staffers. I still had to wait. Another woman stepped in and there was suddenly some confusion about who to take next as she pushed past me in silence and tried to shove her oversized stroller through the tiny hallway to the pedi stations. Junior started hollering as soon as she got through. Not the best first impression, but the friend who'd gifted me said she'd been going there a while, so I tried to give the place a fair chance. A woman who comes up to my elbow says "You. There. She takes you." and I proceed to the dead silence of the pedi area. The decor is frightfully dim. Most of the lights were out. I greet the manicurist and ask her name. No answer, but she directs me to the chair. "Chair now. Shoes now." When she finally does speak it's to say, "Do you want ___? That's $5 extra. Do you want ___? That's $5 extra." Because I don't believe these small grooming moments should cost over $30, I passed on all the so-called extras, which boiled this rather painful experience down to what I refer to as "Holy Thursday, Batman!" pedi -- they soak and scrub your feet, dry them off and apply paint. I have to keep reminding myself that I'd be back at my usual salon in a few days. Anyway, no big deal since this would be covered with the gift certificate, so I'd just have to cover about $5 and then the tip, right? WRONG! The little pirate waited till I was stuck in the uv drying contraption to announce she wouldn't accept the certificate. "Nonono. You pay cash. Now." She took the cash then disappeared. No change, no return to see if the work was done or to get her tip. It's not like she had another client.... It was just me and two others! I must have had an incredulous look on my face. The young girl next to me smiled and said, "I know. Where do you regularly go?" I told her and also passed the phone number of the family-owned salon down the street. "I'd actually be there now, but the lady was seriously overbooked." Though her nails were wet and freshly polished, the young lady gave them a call on the spot to make an appointment for her next grooming/spa day. On the way out I saw the staffer sitting on her little stool bowing her head over her little mani station with her hands folded in her lap. I said, "Thank you. Have a nice day." but apparently to no one since she didn't answer. Still no manager... What kind of place is this? Besides the strange service I found the place... well, just creepy! I think this place is wonderful.. I've gone twice now, and each time the service has been great and the manicurists nice and attentive. They take great care in making sure that you're satisfied with the color that you've chosen, and allow you to "try on" as many as you like. Most nail salons of this stature tend to be stingy with their polish, but not Anne Nails! They also take their time and give you great arm and leg massages, as an extension of your mani-pedi services. Anne Nails does get really crowded over the weekends, especially around noontime for some reason, and the space is a bit bottle-necked, so that it's hard to get around when it's busy. This place does a swell job on nails. I've been here about half a dozen times and each time I've left happy. For the past two months or so I've been on the hunt for a new nail salon. I've tried a few places in Forest Hills, but have continued to come back to this one. It's definitely important to have a nice mani/pedi but service is *super* crucial. If I make an appointment, I don't want to wait (like, more than 10 minutes) or be sent away. Yes, this has happened to me on countless occasions elsewhere. After that I waited for someone to come get me. I saw a woman walk and say Mani pedicure so I responded then I was directed to the same lady as before who walked up front and said nothing. I've been to Anne Nails before and always had a decent experience. Nothing fantastic, but it was convenient and I always left with polish on my nails so I was happy. The last time I went, I stood by the door looking at polish colors for 5 minutes and no one said anything to me. NOT. A. WORD. I walked out - but this was also me giving them a second chance. A few weeks earlier I went in for a pedi and a gel manicure. While I have no complaints about the pedicure, the gel manicure was another story. The woman who did my manicure was nasty from the minute I sat down. She seemed offended that I hadn't already picked out a color (when I came in I was taken right away and only picked a toenail color, since the gel colors are kept separately from the regular polish). I told her that I hadn't picked a color and I didn't know what I wanted but I wanted something different from my toes, so naturally she asked if I wanted the same color that I had on my toes. She continues to file my nails, and asks not once, but twice more what color I wanted. When she finally let me go over to the colors, she told me I was looking at the wrong ones. Now, I have had gel manicures before, and I have always gotten O.P.I's Axxium system. Apparently there is another brand, CND, she wanted me to use that system. I was adamant about using O.P.I., and luckily she let me. Their color selection for either brand of gel manicure leaves a lot to be desired, but at this point that was neither here nor there for me. The last straw was that I noticed after I left that she hadn't cleaned under my fingernails, and you could see it completely through my manicure. She did a sloppy job, and it lasted barely a week. Every other gel manicure I've had has looked pretty decent up to 2 and a half weeks later. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

Other nail salons I'd been too had different types of pedicure offerings (levels) but this place did not present that too me if they have such a thing. This is my go-to spot for manicures in Forest Hills. They usually do a good job, although lately the manicurists have been slacking off a bit and I have a few bumps and bubbles in my manicure. If I could give zero stars I would. This is THE worst salon I've ever been to. I went here on a Thursday afternoon and kept being told that I would only have to wait 20 minutes (which was not a problem since I didn't have an appointment). An hour later, they finally started on my color gel manicure and immediately told me to pick a new color and different brand. After being cut so badly on my cuticles (which has never been done on a color gel manicure before), she put the color on and it completely bled into my cuticles. I told them this was unacceptable and it looked terrible, at which point they blamed my nails for the issue. I have had a hundred gel manicures and it never looked like that before. After having been there for an hour and a half I left and went down the block to another salon and was so much happier. I would absolutely never go back here. read more
