The food was delicious, but waiting 45 minutes for it to be delivered to the table was ridiculous. No one told us why it was taking so long. I finally had to flag someone down to find out when my husband's order would arrive at the table since I already got my food a couple of minutes before. We ordered around 10:30 (steak Picado con Huevos and Bone in Ham Steak with scrambled eggs and fruit). It was 45 minutes before our food was delivered. No one said the kitchen was slammed or anything. Finally, they brought my order and the waitress said she would be right back with the rest of the order. After a few minutes, I flagged down a waiter to ask for a manager. He asked what was wrong and I told him we were still waiting for the other meal. He asked what the meal was and he went back in to the kitchen to find out what was going on. The waitress finally brought the other meal When I went up to pay and leave, I told the girl at the counter about the issues. She just smiled and said everyone has to wait the same amount of time. Sometimes the kitchen gets slammed so everyone has to wait a little longer. I said if it's going to take this long all of the time I won't be coming back. Her response was "that's ok." Ok, full disclosure: as a pilot, I'm a serial visitor to just about any and all airport cafes I can find while on business trips. But this one ranks among the best I've ever tried. A+ for ambiance, as you can sit on the patio or just inside and see the constant parade of aircraft taking off and landing -- nice. But the food and service match the ambiance and are absolutely excellent. And just when you thought LA was *the* most expensive place on earth (well, it is...), Annia's Kitchen is a very pleasant surprise with generous portions and reasonable prices. Might of been a bad thing that my Air B&B was so close ... I probably visited more than I should have, but certainly not too much! Highly recommended. read more

I moved here to El Monte over a year ago and live nearby the airport and had heard about the restaurant there so for a year I've been looking forward to visiting there finally after an early doctor appointment was able to go to Annia's Kitchen. It was a Thursday morning and it did seem quite busy it was around 10:00 a.m. we picked our own seats we sat outside so we can watch the planes somebody came over and got us two glasses of water and we asked for orange juice and a cup of coffee which took about 15 minutes to get we looked over the menu quite extensively as we didn't know what we were going to get at first boyfriend settled on a stack of pancakes with some sides and I wanted a avocado omelette. Our waiter finally came over to get our order after we waited about 30 minutes maybe longer it was hard to get refills besides the water and our food didn't come out for another 40 minutes. There was a table of two that sat by us that came in after us that got our food about 20 minutes before we did. Another thing that was sort of annoying was when I asked the waiter a question about a different omelette and he stated oh it's all the same. The bill is what surprised us the most somehow it came out to $50 so for what it's worth I don't think we were impressed at all my boyfriend never even finished his pancakes they sat in the fridge and I finally threw them out. I'm really disappointed we didn't have a better experience here because if we had we would have become weekly regulars I'm sure as we are walking distance from the location and I would have loved to have somewhere to regularly go and try other items on the menu but I don't think it's worth it just my opinion read more

Service and food were great! The restaurant itself is a bit out of date, but that was not an issue as these diners typically like to maintain their original ambience. You are able to see the planes take off from the window booths or outside seating. There are heaters outside. It gets busy around 9 am, so it's best to get there early when they open or later in the afternoon before they close. If you have little ones, you may need to change them in the car as there are no changing stations in the restrooms. read more

The food is great here, we've been here twice but the most recent time we went we were told our wait would be 20 min but ending up waiting 40 min. We also waited for our food for roughly 30 min. However despite all that, the food is good, portions are huge, and service is good. They also fill your coffee religiously which is nice. Def worth it for the price imo but if you decide to come, highly recommend coming here earlier as the wait can be long. We came here around 11am. The interior is nice, it has 1950 oldies vibes. First visit to Annia's Kitchen, have heard great things about the food here. Hubby says Annia's is known for their breakfasts. Portions are generous. His favorite is Pork Chop and Eggs. However, he failed to mention that the Mexican specialties his co-workers have ordered were not always that good. Hence my mistake ordering the Steak Picado. Hubby ordered pork chop and eggs. 2 generous sized pork chops, 2 eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. The pork chops were nicely seasoned and not overcooked. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The only thing that I would have changed is to ask for hash browns on the crisp side. I ordered the Steak Picado and Eggs. Unfortunately, the steak was on the tough side and quite chewy even when cut into small bites. The flavor was good, however it was more peppers and onions then steak. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Entree is served with rice, beans and your choice of tortillas. (flour or corn) Service was a bit slow...not sure if that was because we were dining outside. But... we got to watch a couple planes take off which was a nice change of scenery. Overall, even though I only gave them an 3 star rating, I would be willing to come back and give them a second chance. read more

My family loves coming here to eat breakfast and specifically sit outside and watch the little airplanes take off/land. My 6 year olds love the sausage and pancakes here. I've only ever gotten their typical breakfast diner plates and all have been delicious! Service is fine, sometimes a little hard to find a server when it's crazy busy, but it's fine cuz we're there to hang out at the patio and take our time anyway. This is such a great local gem. We take our toddler son at least once a month. Weekend service can be a bit slow with the crowds, so that's why we usually come first thing. We don't mind, though, as we are usually sat outside on the patio to watch the planes take off and land. Food is always flavorful, satisfying and well priced. So, I have been here quite a number of times in the last two months. There are quite a number of dishes on the menu and I have tried to order a different dish just to see how consistent the flavor of the food is. They're food is definitely much better than chain restaurants. Their food is also worth the time it takes to prepare. Most of their portions are on the generous side.Most of time, I am taking food home since it was good, but it was too much for me to finish. They have a few specials that are not on the menu that I have ordered and honestly, I have not ordered any dish yet that I didn't really like. Their breakfasts are great, so many different combinations, the Mexican dishes are solid, approved by my Mom! Also the staff do a great job, they are helpful and efficient. Got seated and was told as we sat down and then again 3 times, each time the hostess came gin our table, that our waiter *is* coming to take our order. 15mins later he finally showed up and apologized for mixup on table service. Ugh. I'm so hangry.... now let's see how long it will take for the food to come out - not having high hopes at this point. Don't even know who our guy waiter is, he didn't introduce himself. Update: So... another 25mins for the food to show up. Apparently they got slammed big time on this Sunday. Still more than an hour after we arrived to eat, ugh. The food was good, usual café fares. As things slowed down and people started leaving, then the waiters kept asking us every single time they walk by our table "is everything okay?" The first couple times, I answered yes. On the 3rd and then 10th time, while I'm trying to eat, I got tired of being interrupted and being asked over and over "is everything okay?" Trying to make for the wait and neglect earlier, I guess. But it doesn't work that way. So overall decent café fares but services is horrible when it gets busy. Maybe come back when it's not so busy as hubby likes this place to watch airplanes. read more

So me and my bf planned to go too the Los Angeles County Arboretum and we had a service dog they still refused us. Anyways that was not what I was about to say, since we didn't get in we decided to go here for breakfast and I'm so glad we did. First off we got too see airplane landing and take off ( Yes I'm a nerd I love airplanes ). Second the staff is super friendly they really made us feel welcoming and like a family even though they was full house and busy non stop. Also at the door they have a really cute sign where it's says something with "Everyone is welcome even thought you are vaccinated or not, transgender etc etc" ( I wish I took a picture of it but I forgot ) anyhow I think this place is family own business as well but it's small. So I definitely recommend you guys to go and support them. On top of it big portions so cheap and really flavorful food me and my bf complained that was a lot of food haha. Annia's Kitchen is located in the San Gabriel Valley Airport, formerly known as the El Monte Airport. If you are driving down Santa Anita to get to Annia's, don't drive too fast since the airport entrance is easy to miss. Out of the four or five times that I've been to Annia's, there was never any wait to get seated. Granted, I don't think I've ever tried to go to Annia's during busy brunch times on the weekends. You get to choose where your seats at Annia's, and if it's your first time, choose the outside patio to give you the best view of small private airplanes taking off and landing at the San Gabriel Valley Airport. The view is also okay in the interior dining room, but it doesn't beat the view from the patio. Annia's serves American and Mexican dishes. The food is just okay at Annia's; the selection is pretty much what you'd expect from local diner-type restaurant for brunch. Prices, though, are definitely cheaper at Annia's and the portion sizes are bigger! My favorite items at Annia's are probably the Chili Relleno with refried beans and rice or the Taco Salad. Both dishes offer a pretty good amount of food for less than $10. Check out Annia's if you have family or friends from out of town. Definitely a cool place to bring out of town visitors for brunch without making a big dent in your wallet! read more

My family has lived in El Monte 41 years and never knew about this restaurant. we recently started going past 2 years and OMG A lot to choose from on the menu and everything we have tried so far is so delicious but definitely the hamburger is our favorite . It's not my favorite local diner but I love taking my kids to see the airplanes land and takeoff from the runway. The food is very basic/mediocre, not to saying it's bad, but again nothing special. I've had their American breakfast and Mexican breakfast, and to be honest, I think the Mexican breakfast is better. I recommend the chorizo plate and the breakfast burrito. Cute little brunch restaurant to come and eat with a view of the planes taking off! I've heard many people like to come here, not for the food, but for the ambiance. The food is actually just okay (I might not be the best at judging brunch foods, though). We ordered enchiladas, BLT, and a pancake & omelette combo. I liked the BLT - it was simple bacon lettuce and tomato with fries - which were good! Enchiladas were also pretty good. But the main thing about this little restaurant is that it's located in the El Monte Airport. You can see the private planes take off about every 20-30 min. It's not too loud or noisy, which is good. It's more of a relaxing type of view. I came here only once but I know of people who frequent this place just for a quaint place to chit chat and have brunch!
