If you're looking for a cute brunch spot, Annia's Kitchen isn't the way to go. I would describe Annia as more of a cozy, family restaurant. If you sit outside, you can look at the planes take off. I came on a Monday with my mom and sister. Amongst the three of us, we shared two plates - 1. French Toast, Sausage, Bacon, and Eggs and 2. Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Eggs. It was enough food for us to share comfortably. The sausage, bacon, eggs, and pancakes are what you would typically expect at a breakfast spot. I wouldn't get the french toast again, the dish looked so sad as I was expecting it to be sweeter and more hearty. The wait for our food was long, we waited around 30 minutes for our food to come out. Service was pretty much non-existent. However, after reading other people's reviews, it seems that my experience with the wait and service is an outlier. read more

Ok, full disclosure: as a pilot, I'm a serial visitor to just about any and all airport cafes I can find while on business trips. But this one ranks among the best I've ever tried. A+ for ambiance, as you can sit on the patio or just inside and see the constant parade of aircraft taking off and landing -- nice. But the food and service match the ambiance and are absolutely excellent. And just when you thought LA was *the* most expensive place on earth (well, it is...), Annia's Kitchen is a very pleasant surprise with generous portions and reasonable prices. Annia's is a great homestyle diner. Situated next to a small El Monte airport, it has a unique view, without the noise (planes are parked). The food and service have always been great. I like to go for breakfast because their Chile Verde is out of this world. Huge savory chunks of tender pork and saucy over easy eggs make this my personal favorite. Came here right when it opened at 8am on a Saturday. They are opened daily from 8am-2pm and have both indoor and outdoor seating. What I thought was great about the outdoor seating was that you have a perfect view of the airplane runway of the San Gabriel Valley Airport. They have heating lamps in case it gets a little chilly in the morning. They have a QR code for the menu or you can look through their physical menu. I was the only vegan in the group so I asked about their vegan options while explaining what I could or could not eat. The server suggested the veggie enchiladas (mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach wrapped in a tortilla) but swap out the beans (made with lard) for the home potatoes (fried potatoes with bell peppers and onions), and I also added onions into my enchiladas. The enchiladas were topped with a tomato sauce and half an avocado. My non vegan family and friend had the Ham&Eggs, Scrambled Eggs with Home potatoes, and biscuits & gravy. I thought my enchiladas were pretty good. My family and friend really liked their food as well. Our server was amazing and was patient when asking my questions about what some of the food were made out of. The bus person who refilled our drinks made sure we had bottomless drinks :) The server and bus person checked up on us to make sure we got everything we needed. I love this joint! the fare is consistent and presents great value. The staff is hard working and super friendly. My fam & I have enjoyed dining here for many years now and we dig each visit as if were new. The owner is usu in the house and you can tell it is a house of respect and managed well. Eggs benedict, chili relleno platos, burritos, the mickey and minnie pancakes my kids get, the specials Nana enjoys...on and on. Fantastic vibe off the patio with the air field operations, the gorgeous mountain views. Inside is nice and cozy and you can keep up with your fave teams! Just the wait is FOREVER. Waited about 20 min or to get seated. From being seated to getting our food - at least an hour. It's hard for me to leave a negative review for any small business owner because I, as a small business owner, know the challenge that comes with running a small business, however, based on the poor management, aggressive attitude and the poor etiquettes of the owner Annia, I don't feel it's right letting it go. I called on a Sunday morning to ask if they take reservations and Annia answered saying they don't because they're very busy so I asked what the current wait time was and she said it was 30-35 min. We, a party of 4, showed up at 11:30 and were placed on the waiting list. Multiple groups between 3-5 people in each group walked in 30 min after we checked in and were seated ahead of us. I asked why others were getting seated ahead of us and Annia, with an attitude said "who, tell me who", then she said we'll be up next, 3 more groups sat in ahead of us after she promised we were next and when I went back to ask why we're being skipped again, she said " I'm cleaning your table right now, do you want me to clean it?" The place was packed and people were staring, I said "go ahead" and she replied, "don't talk to me like that that's very rude" keep in mind she's an older women who's probably burnt out but for her to say something like that is unprofessional and inexcusable. To add to all of this nonsense, the chicken tenders we ordered for our kids was RAW, we told the waiter and he said he'll tell the cook but never brought a replacement. We had been coming here for couple of years and every time we come we spend $70-90 for average food but good scenery for the kids since they like seeing the airplanes takeoff and land. This restaurant based on the food and management would not survive if it was in a different location. The "clean" silverware had food on them, we've sent them back many times asking for a clean set. Tables get sprayed and wiped with dirty re-used rags. Cleanliness isn't a priority and is often sacrificed when it's busy. I also just found out that they're rated B but it's not posted in a visible location. Since the manager didn't take any initiative to make things right this will be our last visit. read more

First time coming here, didn't know that there was a cafe inside the airport. They have varieties items on their menu which includes a bit of breakfast, lunch as well as authentic Mexican food. ordered the breakfast special country fried steak with sunny side up eggs.. and a ham with bone with eggs breakfast, delicious looking hash browns, house potatoes, muffin and gravy and side of toast. The country steak was flavorful and crispy.. they placed the gravy on the bottom so the top doesn't get soggy!!! Clever! Ham was soooo good! Worth every penny! It tasted like a thick piece of fried bacon! Pretty darn good!!! Parking lot is plenty, if you go early in the morning. It was my first time here and it was delicious. We come to Annias about twice a month. Weekends get pretty crowded, especially in the early morning. The last few times we came, we saw larger parties (8+ people), so that added to the wait...however there have been times where we get seated immediately. If you see a lot of people outside, it usually won't take longer than half an hour. Even when there are a lot of people, parking is never an issue. They have clean bathrooms in the building (always a plus). They have a cute outside dining space where you can watch the planes take off and land. This is a family owned place where the staff cares. They always interact with their customers and bring out the food quickly. The food is great. Love their red enchilada and nacho sauce. Their loaded nachos are huge. We made the mistake of ordering that as an appetizer for the two of us and we couldn't finish our delicious meal. BUT it was worth it. We love the atmosphere, staff, and quality of the food. They have mostly tables/chairs and about 6 booths inside. We are big on booths so we don't mind waiting the extra time for the booths. read more

Our breakfast plates took awhile to come out though. Food: We shared two plates.... 1) Stack of 3 pancakes, 2 eggs (decided on sunny side up), 2 bacon, and 2 sausage links: All for $7.99! What a deal! Thought it was decent. Bacon was nice and crispy. Sausages weren't really oily. Pancakes were nice and fluffy! Add a little tapatio to spice up your eating experience. 2) Ortega Omellete: Each Omellete comes with choice of potato (baked or hash brown) and toast or biscuits with gravy. We decided on the hash browns and toast. The plating of the Ortega Omellete needed some work, but the portion size was great. I felt a bit slighted. The reason for this is because the price differentiation of a regular cheese omellete ($8.99) and the Ortega Omellete ($9.25) is $0.26. That is some expensive sauce. Do you get the jist? It was my first time here with my friends. It was not what I thought it would be. There were indoor and outdoor seatings. We got outdoor seatings so we got to watch the planes land/take off. Not only that, there was a small area for kids to hang around and watch the planes. The only downside was a smoking area, which was right next to it. The server was very friendly. She would check with us periodically, so we got our food fairly quickly. We ordered Cheese burger, chile relleno and chicken burrito, chile relleno and enchilada, veggie omlette, nachos racheros. Each plate had a good portion and the taste was ok. We could find better taste elsewhere, but the kids friendly option was really a plus! Always great food and great service! I order the chicken fried steak everytime I come and its always really good. Got menudo last weekend which was also very good just with it had some Pata. Very disappointed. We'd heard/read good things about this place, and expected better. We were seated quickly, but once at our table had to wait a long time for a waiter to take our order. It was a weekday, still breakfast time, and they were kind of busy, so we understood when our food took a long time to be served. We figured that might be the reason why. Our waiter finally brought our food, and never came to our table again. Omelettes were just ok, but nothing special. Potatoes were greasy. I've never had pancakes like theirs before - totally RUBBERY! By the time we were done the place had emptied out a lot, and they were not so busy. We were obviously done eating but the waiter never came back. After about 20 minutes sitting there waiting for our check, we went to the counter to pay for our food and left. We will not be returning. We've had much better food and service elsewhere. read more

Kind of a back-handed compliment, but it really fits. The sandwiches were really tasty and the pics don't really do them any justice. On top of that, the service is spectacular. Good selection of options. My server was very nice and made sure I had everything I needed. I enjoyed the biscuit and gravy, the pancakes could use buttermilk or some sort of tang to balance the sweetness, but solid overall. They made my bacon crispy as requested. I would have liked the eggs to be scrambled soft as ordered, they were a tad tough, but everything was hot when served.
