The service is very welcoming and the restaurant is adorable. I love the display and the options available. It's a playful menu that really speaks to the palette. I hoped to enjoy the carrot cake more than I did. The sweetness level was perfect. Not too sweet, which is refreshing for a southern bake shop. The texture, unfortunately, as well as the flavor was lacking to me. The astringent flavor of the caramel was overwhelming and took away the presence of the cake. The abundance of coconut was thoughtful but prolonged the chew of the dessert. The design of the restaurant is a bit awkward as there are large tables blocking the condiments, so navigating the space was difficult, even though there were not many people in there. It was super busy inside, but for a good reason - everything was great! The store was small, but it was very cute and all the pastries in the case were gorgeous. They also had a menu on the wall, and paper menus to browse while in line. Even though it was busy, the line was moving decently fast and the employees were very kind and balancing helping each customer, being attentive, and providing good customer service. I got an iced pistachio latte and a strawberry coffee cake. For the price, the quality of both was great. The espresso came through, and the latte wasn't too milky or sweet. The coffee cake was dense and moist, and the strawberries in it were fresh. Would plan on coming back! read more

In love with this new coffee shop. I got the vanilla date latte, which was one of the best coffees I've had in awhile. We couldn't resist the baked goods, so we got the coconut passion fruit cake, which was so light and almost refreshing for a dessert. We also tried the sticky bun, which was a little richer but equally delicious. The space itself is so cute. There isn't a ton of indoor seating, but they do have a few outdoor two-tops. TLDR: If you are looking for drinks (especially matcha), look elsewhere. Disappointed overall. Annie Mae's Bakeshop looked very promising from the outside. It's beautifully designed and very aesthetic. We ordered a pastry (peach sticky bun), a sandwich (egg salad), and two matcha lattes (regular and banoffee w/oat milk). To start on a positive note, the food was genuinely good and came out quick. The pastry and sandwich were enjoyable and felt well made. Unfortunately, the drinks were a completely different experience. While ordering, I asked whether the matcha came sweetened or unsweetened, and the response I received was, "I don't really drink matcha," which honestly left me a bit confused rather than answering the question. Once the drinks arrived, both matchas were some of the weakest I've had in the city. They did come unsweetened, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but they also lacked almost any real flavor. The regular oat milk matcha tasted watered down, and the banoffee matcha, despite the cold foam, only had the faintest artificial banana flavor. The appearance didn't help either. The matcha was unusually pale, and there were noticeable clumps of unsifted powder settled at the bottom of the cups. For drinks at this price point, the quality was extremely underwhelming. For nearly $50 total, the experience felt disappointing. I we didn't even bother finishing the drinks because they simply weren't enjoyable. If you're visiting for pastries or food, this may still be worth trying. But if you're specifically looking for quality matcha or specialty drinks, there are definitely better options in the city. read more

The pastries are the best thing here IMO not the pies... scones, coffeecake etc unreal. The coffee is generally great. The only reason its not 5 stars for me is the inconsistency - I've been probably ten times now and the lattes have been 10/10 or 6/10....food is always great. I stumbled upon this cozy bakeshop by chance one Sunday morning. I typically am in the know about new openings in town but this one coauthor me by surprise. I have heard the business name around town before but this was the first time experiencing the goods. They have a pastry menu as well as coffee selections. The inside of the shop is pink and absolutely darling. They have hats for purchase. I had a simple latte and it was very good. I ordered a slice of pie and chai chocolate chip. The coffee prices were decent but the pastry prices were daily high although spot on for the area. The employees were cheerful and very accommodating and helpful! Absolutely amazing!! Long line was well worth it. The maple sausage egg and cheese biscuits were to die for, never had a better biscuit!
