It was super busy inside, but for a good reason - everything was great! The store was small, but it was very cute and all the pastries in the case were gorgeous. They also had a menu on the wall, and paper menus to browse while in line. Even though it was busy, the line was moving decently fast and the employees were very kind and balancing helping each customer, being attentive, and providing good customer service. I got an iced pistachio latte and a strawberry coffee cake. For the price, the quality of both was great. The espresso came through, and the latte wasn't too milky or sweet. The coffee cake was dense and moist, and the strawberries in it were fresh. Would plan on coming back!

In love with this new coffee shop. I got the vanilla date latte, which was one of the best coffees I've had in awhile. We couldn't resist the baked goods, so we got the coconut passion fruit cake, which was so light and almost refreshing for a dessert. We also tried the sticky bun, which was a little richer but equally delicious. The space itself is so cute. There isn't a ton of indoor seating, but they do have a few outdoor two-tops. The staff also couldn't have been kinder. Can't wait to go back!

Wow! The sweetest little bake shop! We arrived on a rainy Saturday and saw a line out the door - don't let that deter you! It moves quickly! The offer a variety of sandwiches, sweets and coffee. We ended up with 3 slices of cake. Coconut Carrot Chocolate strawberry Honestly I can't even begin to pick one that was a favorite. They were all excellent. Can't wait to visit again.

I was so excited to visit this place and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was adorable from the decor, merch, restrooms. There is no parking on site. The chicken salad sandwich that is served with chips on the side is a must try for $16. prices were very reasonable. The line moved quickly and service was great. I cannot wait to return and try a dessert next time.

Some of the best coffee downtown - period!! She has fun flavors like pistachio and salted caramel. The pie is absolutely fantastic. The decor and presentation of the shop is just adorable. My new go-to spot downtown!

Annie Mae's Bakery has a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The pastries were delicious, but not notable, and it was disappointing that their popular chicken salad sandwich was already sold out around 10 a.m. If you're going for that, definitely arrive early, as it is a great place to check out!

TLDR: If you are looking for drinks (especially matcha), look elsewhere. Disappointed overall. Annie Mae's Bakeshop looked very promising from the outside. It's beautifully designed and very aesthetic. We ordered a pastry (peach sticky bun), a sandwich (egg salad), and two matcha lattes (regular and banoffee w/oat milk). To start on a positive note, the food was genuinely good and came out quick. The pastry and sandwich were enjoyable and felt well made. Unfortunately, the drinks were a completely different experience. While ordering, I asked whether the matcha came sweetened or unsweetened, and the response I received was, "I don't really drink matcha," which honestly left me a bit confused rather than answering the question. Once the drinks arrived, both matchas were some of the weakest I've had in the city. They did come unsweetened, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but they also lacked almost any real flavor. The regular oat milk matcha tasted watered down, and the banoffee matcha, despite the cold foam, only had the faintest artificial banana flavor. The appearance didn't help either. The matcha was unusually pale, and there were noticeable clumps of unsifted powder settled at the bottom of the cups. For drinks at this price point, the quality was extremely underwhelming. For nearly $50 total, the experience felt disappointing. I we didn't even bother finishing the drinks because they simply weren't enjoyable. If you're visiting for pastries or food, this may still be worth trying. But if you're specifically looking for quality matcha or specialty drinks, there are definitely better options in the city.

Vibes immaculate. Matcha fantastic. Definitely don't skip the chicken salad sandwich! It was a perfect lunch, with the lightest fluffy milk bread. 10/10 recommend

this place is so adorable! nice workers, gorgeous atmosphere, and not too expensive. $8.34 for the vanilla date iced matcha with oat milk. i'd give it a 6/10! i need to come back and try the food.

A hidden gem in Charleston! Most definitely worth the wait for any of their pies and the buttermilk biscuit with honey & jam (15/10!) I paired with a pistachio butter latte (made by Lance STELLAR) everything was so good and top notch. The decor and vibe of this shop is definitely movie worthy - If you want great coffee, pastries and PIES made from scratch don't miss this spot right next to king st downtown!

All the pastries are beautifully done! Since we came in for breakfast so we had a blueberry scone which was excellent, not the pies or cakes, though very tempting! We'll have to come back later and try the cakes

The carrot cake is the best I've ever had! So cute inside the shop and thoughtfully designed. The coffee was bitter but it was their first day so maybe they were testing things. Please try the carrot cake, not too sweet. Just perfect!

Iced coffee was refreshing I came back the next morning for another round. It was flavorful yet not sugary. Although I was charged twice, the manager assured me they would fix it once the line was manageable. Somehow I trusted her word for it, just the manner with which she handled it was text book! I remembered enjoying it during my first stay, so naturally I had to return. This time around I stopped by twice during our two-night stay. On my first visit, I was tempted by the limited-time LoveShackFancy collaboration and ordered the Pistachio Rose Matcha Cloud Latte. It sounded amazing: house-made pistachio rose syrup, your choice of milk, topped with fluffy matcha cold foam and rose petals. Unfortunately... it was way (way) too sweet. And this is coming from someone who usually likes sweet drinks. At $10, I powered through it, but it definitely wasn't for me. My friend ordered another one of the collaboration drinks and did not finish hers because it was overwhelmingly sweet. Thankfully, my second visit redeemed everything. I went back to an old favorite - an iced matcha latte - and it was just what I was hoping for. Service was excellent during both visits. While the cafe seems to remain pretty popular, it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. I still love the atmosphere here. It's such a great place to grab a drink before heading out to explore Charleston or while staying at the Emeline. Lesson learned: sometimes the specials are worth trying... and sometimes it's best to stick with your favorite!

Since we were there 2.5 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be a lot of cake options available, but my husband and I decided to share a slice of the s'mores cake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to make it à la mode. The s'mores cake was a chocolate cake with mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge, graham crackers, and more marshmallows. The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.
