I happened to walk by Le Macaron on my birthday, and being that it was a special occasion, I had an easy excuse to stop in and order an impromptu sweet treat (or two). Good. We came for gelato. It was good gelato. Not super creamy, but a good flavor. My wife didn't finish her gelato, but the rest of us did. She said she was disappointed in the pistachio. It was okay, I was pretty excited to go believing they would have traditional beignets but the beignets being sold are basically like the ones you can buy by the pack at Whole Foods. The beignets tasted great but they were cold which I did not expect the Whole Foods version is more cost efficient and is at least room temperature. I purchased different chocolates and all were absolutely delicious. The only real downside was the beignets. It was so fun discovering this charming French pastry shop on Thanksgiving Day! We walked by after the downtown Turkey Day 5k and were pleasantly surprised to see the shop was open. Inside, we were greeted by gleaming glass counters full of colorful macarons, gelato, beignets, croissants and more! The staff is very helpful and friendly. They also make wonderful coffee drinks. Wr came on a sunday afternoon on mother's day and the girl that worked there needs to work on her customer service. My husband asked for a "red eye" ok, this is no Starbucks but I think most people know what a red eye is and if you don't know you can ask us there is no need for an attitude. How about cover your mouth when you yawn? Did your family not teach you manners? This is mother's day weekend you should expect more traffic and if you do not like serving guests maybe you should find another job. Visiting the French Quarter of Charleston, my co-pilot wanted coffee. Found this place and stepped inside to a real experience. Ice cream, Gelato, and handmade chocolate delights. Also coffee, cappuccino, bottled water, canned sodas. My co-pilot said the coffee was really good, our other traveling companion got Gelato and said it also was really good. We got a couple of beignets (chocolate filled) and a couple macaroons. They had quite a few handmade chocolate creations (teddy bears, eclairs, leaves made of chocolate that were in a heart shape and looked like it was sitting on wooden board, was told the board was chocolate, all edible).
