The making of The hazelnut Bubble Waffle

The hazelnut bubble waffle is amazing. Friendly service and convenient to have a few tables to seat down at to enjoy the treats!

There wasn't a ton of information on this place online. Turns out it is embedded in a gift shop near the Charleston Market, which is a tourist trap area. I wouldn't have come if I'd realized the street it was on because most of the stuff there is not great. This place had some generic ice cream and other ingredients in a town full of local and innovative stuff. But I went ahead and tried a waffle, which was freshly made. I saw them using some greenish dough and wondered what the heck was going on, but closer perusal of the menu showed that the option I'd chosen had a spinach waffle in addition to the fruits on top. Strange, but credit where credit was due, the combination worked. There were a ton of berries and nutella inside, but still not enough to be worth the robust price. I'd look for local cool desserts elsewhere in the area; I've reviewed several and it's not like Charleston is lacking in quality desserts.

Walflin is a FANTASTIC addition to Downtown Charleston. Don't let the location deter you - it shares a shop with an antique store (maybe the same owner?) which is a little odd but I am so happy I tried it. The waffles are incredible and the staff always goes above and beyond. Everyone is so friendly and I can't say enough about the food - SO GOOD! Plus, the waffles are pretty easy to carry around, so no need to eat your dessert inside this antique shop if you don't want - take a stroll down market street while devouring this indulgent dessert!

Waflin is a very tasty, clean, and friendly place. Highly recommend it and you gotta try some of them.

    Nice relaxed atmosphere

The bubble waffles taste amazing. Will definitely recommend to my friends. My favorite is the hazelnut bubble waffle

Luckily, we were able to be seated immediately but it was very close quarters with surrounding tables. The menu is vast with different dessert options. If you want to know what cakes are available, you should check out the display stand right when you enter. Since we were there 2.5 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be a lot of cake options available, but my husband and I decided to share a slice of the s'mores cake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to make it à la mode. The s'mores cake was a chocolate cake with mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge, graham crackers, and more marshmallows. The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.

We waited about 5 to 10 minutes to be acknowledged while two employees stood nearby. The two layer chocolate caramel pecan cake, which our waitress initially could not find, was dry and tasted stale. I would not order it again. The Tollhouse pie was a bit better, but the presentation and the whipped cream were the standouts, and the whipped cream wasn't even homemade! That's the best thing I could say about our experience. The food, pricing, service, and ambiance all fell below average. When you are located downtown with so many great dessert options around, you really need to step up your game. We will not be returning.

However, I made a promise that I would only have sugar if it's GOOD sugar, and I found that at Off Track. I just loved it here. "It's too expensive" - get over it, that's what you pay for high quality. "There's a huge line" - grab a pint of B&J at Harris Teeter instead and call it a night. Finally went last night with my date du jour and, as expected, HUGE line which didn't bother me at all. It moved fairly quickly, but would have moved more so if a few overweight women in line didn't ask to sample every flavor. One benefit of the long line is it gave me the chance to change my mind a total of nineteen times before hitting the register, finally opting for a fresh waffle cone loaded with peanut butter pie and fudgy chocolate brownie. A+ on the ice cream - creamy and delicious, just like my date du jour. Only slight (and I mean SLIGHT) complaint was how thin the waffle cone was, causing the ice cream to drip all over me (again, just like my date du jour). We got two double cones for about $21, and I'd pay that again. Super high quality and the ice cream was not overly sweet. I absolutely loved the big chunks of peanut butter in the one and massive chunk of brownie in the other. Made me feel like I was having a "ménage a trios" in my mouth. Also, the ladies who worked the front line killed it last night, and were sweet with smiles, which is increasingly rare, especially given the chaos on a hot Friday night. On Monday, I will before forced back on my sugar fast, but the next time I want a hit of "good" sugar, I will walk down the street to Off Track. Great service, delicious calories, and interesting selections. Vincent Vega may have a heart attack when he sees the $9.95 shake, but do yourself a favor and splurge, because "C'est la vie."

I had heard it was one of the best ice cream spots in Charleston, so we had to try it--and it did not disappoint! They have a huge variety of ice cream flavors and tons of fun toppings you can add, like whipped cream, pretzels, sprinkles, almonds, and more. We ordered the chocolate fudgy brownie ice cream and added pretzels on top, which gave it the perfect sweet-and-salty combination! Everything tasted delicious, and it was the perfect treat while exploring the area. If you're walking around King Street and craving ice cream, this spot is definitely worth stopping by!

At the register, the staff answered my questions about the process and took my order. It took a little time for my order, but they have a good amount of seating inside and I was able to enjoy my tasty treat right then and there. There were some games in the tables, which promoted an atmosphere of hanging out for a while. Only things to note were my ice cream didn't seem to stay frozen long at all before it started to melt.
