They bought the place a couple of years ago. I have been here before and purchased donuts here. The previous owner was nice and had a decent product. To the current owners, you're in Charleston SC, where we expect manners and civility. Your politicized contempt and rudeness don't belong here. If you're resisting by confronting customers, and chastising them to your way of thinking, you are sadly mistaken. While the cake part of the donut is tasty, the thin watery excuse for frosting is pathetically thin and lame If this was your 'style' in Vermont, please pack up and move back and stay there. read more

Annie's Hot Donuts is perfect for all ages. You can host birthday parties. There are board games, card games, and video games. You can build-your-own donuts. It is fun to watch the donuts being made. Annie's cares about their customers and greet you with a smile. The bacon on a donut makes good breakfast and otherwise, the donuts are good for dessert. We went here for a friend's birthday party upstairs and it was the cutest!!! The play area up top is so sweet and perfect for a small party. Each kid got two hot donuts that they got to dip then add the toppings of their choice. It was such a neat experience and the donuts are excellent! At the end I offered to help clean up but they told me not to stress and that's why they are there. They made it really special for the birthday girl it was such a sweet place! read more

The donuts here are a lot of fun and very tasty. They have a cake-like consistency which makes them even more like a dessert than a breakfast food. Every donut I have tried has been delicious. My son loves playing on the arcade machines as well, so it's a great way to spend some time as a family. My only complaint is the decor. The interior is quite eclectic and mismatched...it's not really a comfortable environment to be in. I would probably stay longer if it looked different inside, but I know that is quite subjective! Probably the best donuts in Charleston! Interesting concept, they have a couple of bases flavors for the donut cake, then they will dip that into whatever flavor of glaze you desire. The donuts are always super hot and fresh. They have a long list of flavors, so prepare to be overwhelmed in a good way. Wow. I think the people who say these donuts are good have not had a good donut. In Maine we have amazing doughnuts, the real thing. I don't know how to describe just how awful these are. They are hot yeah, big deal, they are goopey, tasteless, way too much sugar in the toppings. When they get cold they are a monstrosity, my husband spit out his bite the next morning. $46 for a box of donuts. My sister laughed at herself as she paid. I could sense her regret when she sat down with the fresh box of donuts. They sure are pretty...messy. They smell great and yes, they are very fresh. They were a bit soggy due to too much toppings maybe? These just aren't our style of donuts, I guess? I didn't get much flavor other than what was thrown on top. Parking is horrendous. You can slide into the front--though you won't see parking signs or anything on the ground. There is also parking on the right side of the building but only 3-4 cars will fit. Good luck if you drive anything larger than a SUV. Annie's is by far the best donut experience I've ever had. The donuts roll fresh out of the grease,are handpicked, and dunked in the glaze of your choice, then generously layered with toppings. Their pre-determined flavors are imaginative, but they give you the autonomy to create your own masterpieces. I just needed a donut for my drive home from work but was tired of my regular haunt, so I search my Yelp listings and BINGO, I found a place heretofore unvisited almost right outside the front door of work. So, you know, I made a Bee-line for Annie's Hot Donuts. Thankfully, it was just after opening and the crowd had not yet descended. But in the time it took me to review the order form and have my fresh donut feast prepared, the flood gates opened and the customers started pouring in! The Order Form: once entering I was confronted with choice upon choice upon choices. The donuts are made fresh, and are more like a cake donut than a yeast risen donut you might find at popular chains. So I had to pick; how refreshing! My choices are insignificant compared to the variety available, just check out the menu/order form in the pics. All of them were A-May-Zing!! (I don't often spell things phonetically, but these donuts earned it.) Smooth and moist cake donut texture with on the order topping, placed carefully in a box designed to protect the product in transport. Mine got home almost intact (wink, wink). With so many unique flavor combinations to choose from, it was hard to narrow them down to the 6 that we got. Service was friendly and the production was quick once we ordered. Maybe it was the one I picked but I would not recommend this place. I would consider myself a connoisseur of special donuts and this place for me just really miss the mark. The lady behind the counter was super friendly, and was happy to answer any questions, but for me, the donuts were very underwhelming. Happy that they have gluten-free donuts five star for that!! They are also celiac. My boyfriend said he would give the donuts a four star overall, beautiful spot. Worst experience ever. I went in, ordered and I have a son that is 3 that wants to color so I let him color on one of the disposable menus and then the manager came up to us and was so rude to us. Annie's Hot Donuts is the perfect sweets shop. It's a smaller location right on Ben Sawyer in Mt. Pleasant. We booked it for our daughter's 3rd birthday and it was a massive success. They have a second floor that can accommodate up to 30 people and it's filled with toys and games for young ones. They even provided donuts for the kids to decorate and toppings to customize them to their liking. You can even bring your own food and drinks too. We really loved the high quality of the dough and how artfully they were fried. When you bite into them they are thick and fluffy with amazing flavor. This was so much fun for everyone who was in attendance and we'd love to make another visit. read more

Paid $25 for six donuts. Took them home and opened the box 10 minutes after buying them and found a soggy mess of donuts soaking in the mixed drippings of three different flavors. Everything tasted like a mix of the three flavors. Impossible to eat with anything other than a fork. For a premium price you should get a premium product, not a box of soggy dough swimming in a puddle of mixed up flavors. Box needs to be sized properly for the donuts, donuts need to cool before being frosted. Service was quick though, unlike when it was operating as Fractured Prune. read more

As donut lovers, we found ourselves here when visiting Charleston. It's a build your own shop with some suggested combinations on the menu. The person working was not very friendly. They just have the sauces and toppings all sitting out and they dunk and top the donuts after you order. 4 of us split several donuts. We got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Bacon Bomb, Blueberry Hill, and a BYO with caramel, graham cracker, and mini marshmallows. The donuts are warm and they were pretty good. We got a 2 pack and it was almost $8! A bit overpriced for the size portion you get. The donuts have good flavor but the key lime pie was very disappointing. There was no lime flavor just powdered sugar and graham cracker flavor. I think we'll go back to give it another try but I'm sure there are cheaper places with good donuts and cool flavors. The parking lot is also very small and hard to get in and out of, so plan to go some time maybe on a weekday when they're less busy or early on a Sunday morning. read more

The hand-glazed hot doughnut idea just doesn't work well. The glaze saturates in/drips off because the doughnuts are still so hot when they go into the box and they stay hot in the closed box. You don't get that beautiful glaze in the promo photos with the toppings piled on top--what you get is a flat doughnut, with a glaze in the "floor" of the box. The aesthetic of baked goods is important to me. Look, you'd never frost a cake fresh out of the oven, the frosting would melt off. It's the same concept. This place is also horrendously understaffed! The woman in the shop wasn't answering the phone to take to-go orders because she was busy making doughnuts and taking payments for walk-in orders.
