    Gluten free fish n chips
    Neo V.

I have to update this place. It still is Gluten free heaven but sorry to say they are getting a little cheap on the portions. I am disappointed! I have added a picture of the Jumbo portion of Halibut and chips. As you will see it is not jumbo. There is a lunch (1/2 portion) , dinner and then the jumbo portion. I understand fish is expensive and the size was ok but could have been a little bigger but the FRIES come on! That is one of the cheapest items in a restaurant, fill up the plate and make it look big and if you eat the fries the customer will be full and say to themselves it was worth it. I will say the sever was nice because I did mention that the plate was light and not a Jumbo portion. She was helpful and asked if I wanted more fries. But please do a better job! When you pay $24 for a jumbo portion make it look like a jumbo portion please.

My friend and I came to Annie's tonight after being enticed by this place for years. A bright sign by the road encourages you to try this place. Their specialty is fish and their feature this evening was a two can dine for $14.99. The menu is varied but being a fish restaurant both my dinner companion and I felt like we really should have fish. For the feature, we were given the option of two types of fish and we went with our servers recommendation (I can't remember the exact type) and fresh cut fries. Definitely the best fish and chips I've had in a LONG, LONG time! The fish was cooked perfectly and not overly greasy, the batter was tasty. Fries were lightly salted, allowing you to add salt as preferred. I had the creamy coleslaw and it too was delicious! For dessert, I had a slice of their made in house chocolate cream pie (heavenly!) and my friend had a slice of Strawberry rhubarb which he described as it was giving him a warm hug from the inside. In other words, he really enjoyed it. Service was prompt and friendly. Decor was welcoming and all in all it was a pleasure to dine there. I would say this is probably one of the best meals I've ever had in the Stratford area and I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Amazing gluten free food. Prefer all the gluten? You won't be able to tell the difference.

We ordered: blue crab hashbrowns (the only standout; would definitely order again, except that I won't likely return), salt roasted beets, brussel sprout caesar, scallops, and duck breast; then we both had creme brûlée and espresso. We tried the three white wines, one was a forgettable Chardonnay and the other two...were equally forgettable, notwithstanding being less common grapes. Only the duck was a main-size serving, and we only chose it because when we ordered there was only one order of scallops remaining (for a 5:30 seating!). I want to say "just as well" because the scallops and sauce were bland so we got to try something else...however the duck was not merely uninteresting but the red pepper sauce didn't complement and contributed nothing. The scallops were priced like a main but only four little guys on the plate, the one upside if we had both chosen them we'd have had room for another order of those crab hashbrowns. The beets were also dull, no idea why the word salt is in the name because it was absent from the dish. No tang to anything except the brussel Caesar. I've seen the brussel sprout restaurant renaissance of the last 10-15 years, this dish is pretty common now. This one was on a par with many others I've had but no improvement, and some might be put off: fully half the outer leaves are charred to the point of becoming a mouthful of ash. Not crispy, just dry ash. I guess that's different...and maybe this is the root of the problem. This restaurant makes a point of changing their menu constantly; not just seasonally, but weekly, even daily. So maybe they're just trying out stuff that pops into the chef's head. With the exception of the crab, every dish seemed to need something to make it interesting or appealing. The espresso was good, but the creme brûlée was another ill conceived concoction, with some kind of raspberry trifle thing on the bottom and the creme was a strange thick porridge-like texture and not quite the typical flavour. Last complaint: their self-description says Elevated Comfort. No. Mundane bistro look and ok seating, but that steep and poorly lit descent to the basement washrooms is the opposite of comfort. Hey, maybe we just picked the wrong items from their evolving experiment of a menu. The people are all nice, the service was good, and none of the food was bad...just meh.

They have done a nice job sprucing things up a bit and revamping the kitchen. Hope to see the red carpet in the dining room go at some point. A bit under staffed as they get on their feet a lot of work for one person at front of house to manage, quite a long wait for walk ins due to covid restrictions on the dining room. Definitely call ahead for a reservation. Staff was friendly and polite took our order correctly. Our meals where pretty good! We got two orders of the Fisherman's platter. One with fries and one with a Ceasar salad. Breading on the fish was light the halibut was a nice large piece! Cooked perfectly nice and flakey not greasy at all. The scallops and shrimp where cooked well too. Chips where fresh and light. The Ceasar salad was not worth the 3.50$ dollars for the upgrade. They just tossed two strips of bacon with it. No croutons, red onion or even parmasean. Was also dissapointed that they didn't do a home made tartar sauce and also no lemon provided with the fish. At first I was excited to see the paper in the take out bag! Then realized they wrapped the take out box in paper. Hopefully they will cut back on the waste and just wrap the fish in that beautiful paper moving forward. Would really love to see this place stick to fish and chips and sea food options and perfect their sides. Would love to see more fish and seafood meals and stay away from the burgers etc and really specialize on the seafood. There's plenty of wing and burger family restaurants and I think they could really make a go of it if they keep it simple, fresh and refined! Found it a bit pricey but overall enjoyed out meals great piece of fish! This cost us 70$ with tax.

This restaurant is unique for its serving style - if you order individual seafood, you eat with your hands from plastic bags. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that we were able to keep ourselves relatively clean. We ordered a pound of mussels with garlic sauce, crawfish with lemon pepper sauce, and a fish teriyaki dish with seafood assortment. I loved the garlic sauce, as it gave the mussels a great kick. I wouldn't recommend the crawfish, as they don't have much meat. I felt like I was just nibbling the shells for the sauce. However, the fish teriyaki was a solid choice. Overall, it was a filling and tasty meal, and it came out to less than $20 per person. With so few customers in the restaurant, service was relatively prompt, but I would recommend more frequent water refills, as the sauces were quite salty. We had to personally wave over the waitress in order to get water. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend Captain's Boil if you enjoy seafood like I do. Glad they opened up in London!
