I usually cut my Maltese-Terrier at home but decided to save myself time and take him in. Since he hasn't been to the groomer much before he is quite shy and scared. Ann was great and made sure to spend some time with him before the grooming so he would feel comfortable. She was even able to cut his nails which even the vet said they couldn't. I love this grooming salon! One of my good friends had told me about Ann's pet grooming. So I made an appointment for two of my dogs. Bonnie is a medium size, 35 pounder who loves people. Todd is a whopping 11 pounds who is pretty calm and loves snuggles. I was worried about Bonnie since she is a rescue and has not had a lot of experiences with the vet or grooming. She is also "kennel shy" and evokes aggressive growling when scared. Ann and her staff took the time to get to know Bonnie and made her experience as quick and easy as possible. Ann let me stay for Bonnie's quick grooming since I was so worried about Bonnie... Bonnie is a lot to handle and somehow wiggled her way out because she's a canine Houdini... But Ann and her staff were so sweet and willing to make me feel comfortable. Another amazing job by Ann's grooming! Junior had been overdue for a grooming and no more than a couple of hours he was ready to be picked up. He was in his own stall with plenty of play space while he was waiting to be picked up. He seemed very happy and well taken care of! Update: I've come quite a few times now. The Good: * Haircut is consistent, which means that they remembers what you ask for. * My dog is less stressed and happy to greet the owner. * They finish quickly if you drop off early. * No major signs of injury or trauma. The Bad: * I've overheard about a dog being injured while I was there. * My dog has on occasion minor red spot where they clipped too close to the skin and an occasional bloody nail from being cut too close to the quick. * When you go later in the day, there's a lot of barking and crying - would be nice if they came up with a solution to help make a less stressful environment for the dogs waiting in the cages. ------------------------ First visit: * Making the appointment: I did not have any problems making an appointment. Ann answered the phone herself, and put me down in the book without asking many questions. In fact, she didn't even ask for my name and number! The lack of the usual receptionist speak gave me some misgivings at first. * Arrival: The shop is kind of easy to miss even though it's right on the main street. The back of the building is facing State College and the driveway into the parking lot can be hidden by the parked cars on the road. The parking lot is small and fills up by noon. * Grooming: Even though it's our first time here, my dog sensed the bath and grooming from 20 feet away and started pulling me back towards the car. I had to carry her in. Ann came to greet me right away and spent some time getting friendly with my dog and offering her bits of chicken jerky (by the end of the session she's eating them by the fistful). She gave me time to look for a picture of what I wanted (no one ever asked me before!) while she gave her a bath. * Pickup: I got a call that she was ready for pickup 2.5 hours later - well before the 3-4 hour estimated time. When I arrived, she was happily waiting in the gated play area. I was happy to see her tail wagging, mouth grinning, and general excitement to play with Ann more before we left - I don't think she would display that behavior if she was traumatized or hurt. * Cut & Pricing: I described what I wanted, in addition to showing Ann a picture. In the past, it didn't matter what I requested, my dog would come back shaved to half an inch all over. That didn't happen this time. The pricing is based on weight, so I found it very reasonable. $45 for a medium sized dog and $10 extra at their discretion for brushing out knots and mats - but she only charged me $5 extra. read more

After more than 4 years, we are NOT coming back. On the previous visit before this last one, one of the ladies (not Ann) cut my 4-yr-old Havachon's paw pad. We went to pick up my Bichon puppy and 4-yr-old Havachon when we noticed a lot of blood on the floor and all over my sweatshirt. And sure enough, it was our Bichon's paw pad. Ann and the female groomer took him back to clean him up using some pads or something to stop the bleeding. Ann even cleaned off my sweatshirt. Now on this last visit which was yesterday, both pups were dropped off. When I booked the appt., I specifically told Ann to do similar cut they did last time for my puppy Bichon. I'M SO UPSET & SAD... they shaved my fluffy puppy. Not trimmed, they SHAVED him. She and the man groomer claim he had matted hair. This is NOT true...I comb him EVERY day so I know that's not true. She didn't call me to ask if it was OK to shave him. I went there today and got my refund. I think the male groomer must've been too lazy to comb him out & give him a proper trim. Super cute spot! I'm happy we found it. We have been getting out dogs' nails trimmed at petsmart and they always left the duclaws long while cutting their other nails so short that they bled. Right when I walked in the staff was very welcoming. We wanted both dogs' nails cut and they did it so quickly! I also like that they used the grinders instead of the cutters. They were able to cut both dogs' nails perfectly! Our bigger dog is very high energy- and they were able to work with him and cut his nails to the correct length-which I found impressive. read more

We were really nervous trying to find another groomer but the one they've been going to is a 45 min drive. Newman has lots of moles on him and usually gets cut a lot. Riley is pretty squirrelly. After reading the great reviews we thought we would take a chance. What a very pleasant surprise. Newman and Riley's hair cut was perfect the first time. That usually doesn't happen. It was a very nice change to get them in the same day. I was expecting the usual 2 week notice. They both were so cute with their bow ties ( another nice change). Clean store, unbeatable prices and great service! My two maltese were due for a haircut and needed to look extra cute for a photo shoot. The store didn't have any fowl dog scent and I liked how they had an open grooming area where I could see everything from the crates to the sink to the grooming tables. I would have never imagined that a grooming salon could be as awesome as this place. And yes I'm calling it a salon! As soon as I walked through its little gate at the door with my little man, I knew my Godzuki would be in wonderful hands. Amy herself, met me at the counter and spoke to me about how I wanted his cut since it was his first time. He was a little mop head and with this heat I wanted it short. When she took him, she started playing with him getting him used to her as well as another groomer Stacy, whom I got the pleasure of speaking with about yorkies. Since my Godzuki is a pup still and being a yorkie parent newbie, all her tips and instruction on how to discipline him was greatly appreciated! He is definitely not like our other dogs in the obedient/training department. The salon has a little play area where dogs/puppies can play as they are getting dropped off and the grooming area can be seen through the window from the lobby area which looked clean and well kept considering they are constantly working with hair/fur. The price was fantastic with all the services they provide. I have called around and definitely this place can't be beat! I dropped him off in the morning and he was done by lunchtime. He came out looking so dapper with his homemade bandana and a bag of jerky treats for the ride home. I wish I could say they were horrible so it doesn't get busier. BUT having to be honest... My dogs and I love this place! Even though I live 30 minutes away, I've given up on trying out numerous pet groomer shops near my area. Prior to dropping my babies off for pampering at Ann's, I would always call at least a week ahead to make an appointment just to be safe, and right before the appointment, I'd take my dogs for a walk in the Craig Regional Park that's located right across the street. Ann's is located on the first level of a small plaza that's facing away from State College Blvd. So if you're turning into the plaza via the north entrance, be sure to angle your car to avoid scraping as you roll down the slope into the lot (I'm speaking from experience on this one). There are plenty of parking spots in this parking lot. What I love the most about Ann's is that the owners and staff are always so warm and friendly. At drop off, Ann (or her husband) always confirm the length of the haircuts and types of services for my furbabies, and my babies are always excited and seemed relaxed when I pick them up as opposed to being anxious and lethargic and can't wait to gtf out of there, which is unfortunately what we've experienced at other groomers. Ann always lets me know approximately what time I can expect a call from her to pick up my babies, but most of the time, she calls before the estimated time so that's always a plus. This place is always clean, clutter-free, and brightly lit and the atmosphere feels very welcoming. And instead of a wall, there are glass panels that separate the lobby from the grooming area. For some reason, this made me like this place even more because in a way I feel like it's because they have nothing to hide, does that make sense? Haha. Anyway, there are also 2 fenced areas in the lobby where they sometimes place the dogs in while they wait. Also, my pets always come home looking all cute and happy with their bowties and a little zip-loc baggy full of chicken jerky treats. read more

Took my very nervous Chi-Grande (he is a Chihuahua/Poodle/Cocker mix) to Ann. She is very kind and efficient. I liked that she gave me an appt time close to when she planned to do the grooming. My dog was there for his 11 a.m. appointment and Ann called around 1 pm for me to pick him up. Therefore, he spent the minimum amount of time at the groomers. Good for my dog as everything scares him. I just requested a bath and the fur trimmed around his paws. His nails are under his veterinarian care. She reported that he did fine but was very scared. Came in right when they opened in the morning with no appointment and they were able to take my dog. Very nice Korean couple who run this business. Inside was clean and had small kennels as well as large, fenced off areas on the floor for bigger (and to hold multiple) dogs. My 50 pound Husky-Shepard (bath, trim on private parts, nail trim, anal glands, and ears) came out to be about $60. Called me back to pick up my dog in about 2 hours.
