The seating at both restaurants, and you can call them that now since they do not just sell drinks anymore, has been greatly expanded both indoors and outside. He also told me they are working on opening a Plainfield location. I ordered my usual The Slugger on a biscuit for my bread choice (4) with sausage for my meat choice (3) and provolone for my cheese choice (5). It was superb and just how I remembered it from the other location when I was eating breakfast there several days a week about a year ago. We decided to eat lunch because we got there a little bit after noon. The special of the day was sloppy Joe's. I decided to have a pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and coleslaw and my guest decided to get the sloppy Joe's special with fries. On a 10 scale, the coleslaw was a seven, the tenderloin sandwich was a nine, and the fries were an eight. The sloppy joe was a six. I think the reason why the sloppy Joe didn't rank higher is because it was just dry loose seasoned hamburger meat. It didn't have any sauce in it whatsoever to hold it together. It was more like a loose meat sandwich or a taco burger. Those sandwiches are generally drier and crumbly in texture. I also like the option of having some cheddar cheese with a sloppy joe, or any similar hamburger type of sandwich. I would definitely consider coming again and trying something different. I noticed they had some comfort food classics on their menu like ex: chicken and dumplings and meatloaf. I hear they're usually pretty busy and packed when it comes to their breakfast crowd. This restaurant is doing things the right way from what I can tell at this point. The bathroom was average in cleanliness, presentation/appearance. I stand by giving them a strong 4 star rating for them which stays on course with their already established 4 star rating.

Ann's Restaurant in Franklin, Indiana, was buzzing when I rolled in. Place was packed, and I snagged the last table just as the lunch rush really hit. Gotta give 'em credit, even with the crowd, my server was quick. Ordered the beef and noodles special, figuring it'd be a classic comfort dish. Sides of mashed potatoes and green beans rounded it out. Now, it looked the part, just like my own beef tips and noodles I make at home. But, man, was it bland. Everything, and I mean everything, needed a serious dose of salt. Noodles, beef, potatoes, gravy - all flat. Only the green beans had any flavor, and they were decent. I know they cater to an older crowd, but a little seasoning wouldn't hurt. Service was alright, no complaints there. Food came out quick, about ten minutes, which is impressive for how busy they were. Place was clean, nothing to complain about there. Ambiance? Pure casual diner, nothing fancy. This place does breakfast right. My lacrosse team ate here over our spring break a few hours before our game and everyone really enjoyed their food. Some of the favorites of the team were the breakfast burger, the breakfast sandwich, the rueben, and the cranberry apple and walnut chicken wrap. The potato chips that came with some of the dishes were so good! They cut them into a spiral shape, very unique. Our server, Amy, took care of us quickly and did a good job throughout our visit. My colleague went with the theme and got the big stack of six pancakes, too much for one sitting. He also got a side of fresh fruit, which was a nice offering. I went a little heavier and got the corned beef hash, a favorite of mine. Here, it comes with hash browns, which is a little unusual. I certainly appreciated this nuance. I also had some hash and potatoes left over to take away. We both thought our choices to be quite good. The coffee was not bad and more than adequate with food (not sure how it would be on its own, which is the ultimate test for coffee). Between the two of us with food, drink, tax and tip, we spent $42. By today's standards, that's not unreasonable. It was not a bad value considering we each had enough to take away for another meal. I would not hesitate to go back if another opportunity arose.

I always order the pork tenderloin when I'm in Indiana, and this one absolutely did not disappoint -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My grandpa always goes for the ham and bean soup, and according to him, it's exceptional every single time. That alone says a lot. Great portions, comforting food, and that nostalgic diner vibe -- we'll definitely keep coming back.
