Booked a 1 day appt. for a trim to even out my out grown hair. This being said, the owner, Gina was quite busy so I was glad that I had called bc of Covid safety measures. At a $20 price point for a women's trim I thought that was a reasonable cost, but ... safety measures don't seem to be in affect & I never saw her wipe anything down(Ex:salon chair, used comb or how she cleans the used hair drapes). I know trying to cut with a mask on would be challenging so I took off the loops of my face mask & held it up with my hands so that we could both be safe & the cut would be even. Suffice it to say,my right side is shorter than my left side. Be prepared to pay in CASH! It makes me a little frustrated when businesses don't tell you over the phone that CASH is the only form of payment they accept bc I like the safety of being able to charge my purchases. Unfortunately, I thought I could support a local business, but the outcome was the determining factor. read more

I stumbled upon this place 2years ago and I have been coming back to her since. My old hairstylist left the country and I was nervous that I was not going to get someone like her again. I've been looking for months and months. But when I went to G & A in Castro valley, Tina is so.much better than her! She is very talented. She definitely knows hair. She is an expert! I recommended her to my co worker and she too was very impress by Tina's work!. Tina is very very nice and she came in extra early for me today just to accommodate me. Only place that my 12-year old son will get a haircut.... takes a little longer but such a good job

Horrible. From start to finish. Made an appt for 1130 got here and sat down; didn't start with us for over 20 minutes. Why call ahead? Then my oldest had butt length hair wanted to donate to Pantene 8", we ask the length she shows middle shoulder blades and confirms. Ask "all one length?" I say yes. She takes out the razor not scissors and shaved down her pony. I ask why the top hairs are now up to her ears almost! And she says "oh that's how it happens" no! No it's not! I'm an adult who has had My hair cut my whole life. That's not how it works. So to even out my daughters hair she has to cut it all up to her chin, her chin!!! It was down to her butt! Donating is fine, but it should have still been shoulder length! My daughter is very self conscious and this is not good. Have way through I was crying watching the hair fall off and she had the nerve to tell me she couldn't cut her hair anymore if I was upset cause it made her upset! Excuse me??! You chopped my daughters hair an extra 3 inches and now are threatening to leave it uneven cause I'm upset and shed a few tears? Lady please. I noticed every other person came in had very short hair. So I was in need of a quick wash and blow dry and was able to get in right away. I will definitely be back! She did a great job!

We made a last minute decision to get my daughters hair cut right before they closed. They were kind enough to stay open for us. It was for my 9 year old daughter whose hair goes down past her butt. She has been wanting some sort of hair style without losing too much length forever but everywhere I take her the stylists always talk her out of cutting it. However, last night she asked me all the different ways I do her hair and the different styles that we do for competition dance and then she sat with her and they looked through pintrest until my daughter found a style she loved and then they modified it so it would work for us. She left it long in the back, to her belt line and framed her face with soft layers falling all the way down in the front. It was a wonderful experience having her listen to what my daughter wanted and giving her so much attention. Her hair is gorgeous and my daughter is elated and can't stop looking at her new hair. I went with my friend to get her hair ombré and it turned out so bad. My friend asked for the ombré to start at her shoulders and the lady started it higher than her ears. My friend hated it so much when she saw it she couldn't stop crying. Than the lady blamed my friend for what she did to her hair.
