We purchased 2 different types of dates that were both delicious and unique in their taste and texture. We will definitely go back and visit again soon. The first 2 trips were put together by an employee who has since retired; she was incredible, very responsive, had everything squared away for us. This 3rd trip was put together by Guillaume Van Wyck at Great Safaris. The accommodations were excellent and we'll be returning to Kenya to several of them. The overall trip was really great, and was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as we anticipated. HOWEVER... communication from Great Safaris was not good. I had to email repeatedly to get answers to questions. Information about obtaining visas was non-existent, and when we had issues, we got a last-minute email that would have been helpful earlier. A hot-air balloon excursion in the Serengeti wasn't scheduled for us (even though we paid for it), so we didn't get to take it; Great Safaris did refund our money, but we wish we could have taken the excursion. Serious mistake on their part. Questions about scheduling went unanswered; we didn't get itinerary times until we were in Africa, and only by asking the people at the lodges. Great Safaris should have provided all of that to us. All in all, we would recommend a safari trip for anyone loving animals and a truly amazing experience. BUT WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GREAT SAFARIS.

We were a…read moremultigenerational group of 9 taking a safari trip to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, so we had ages ranging from 73 to 6. Dave managed to set up the trip of a lifetime for us, finding special activities that the kids would enjoy while simultaneously ensuring that the entire group had a wonderful time. He chose spectacular accommodations for us in Nairobi, Samburu, and the Masai Mara region of Kenya. We spent 3 nights at a luxury hotel in Nairobi at the beginning of our trip to acclimate, and one night there at the end of the trip before returning home to Washington. He organized a wonderful visit to the Giraffe Center as well as the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see elephants up close. These visits were absolutely fantastic for the kids, and the adults got just as much out of seeing these animals up close. Dave organized small flights (10 seat airplanes) within Kenya to get us from Nairobi to Samburu and then from Samburu to the Masai Mara. Both flights were incredible, and were an experience in and of themselves. It was such a pleasure having everything organized for us and being able to just show up. Particularly since we were traveling with 3 kids under the age of 12, we appreciated Dave's efforts in making everything as smooth and seamless as possible. The entire trip was an adventure, and it felt safe and luxurious due to the places we stayed and the guides we had. His knowledge of the area and his years of experience in setting up similar trips in Africa led to the most wonderful trip any of us have ever taken. We can't recommend him enough!

If you're visiting Palm Desert for the first time or a regular visitor like myself - I would definitely visit the Palm Desert Visitors Info Center.

They had a charger that didn't even work they should never have charging stations if they're not gonna work properly he said he was going to get somebody out there to fix it, but he can't guarantee it'll be fixed. That's fine. I understand that, but then he proceeded to tell me that they do not own those that the company does not own those. They're just there for us to charge but yet you guys advertise that in your quotes that we have free charging for us so therefore that's a contradictive statement. The other thing that I did not like is that the place is old. That's fine but at least update your carpet. Your carpet looks like crap. It's pulling, it's dirty. The another thing that happened. I went to go get ice and the ice machine was out. There was no ice upstairs. I had to go downstairs to get the ice I mean, how hard is it to keep your stuff up to par? This is not a go-inside-the homes/businesses tour. This is a thorough overview of the Palm Springs area including parts of adjoining locals. The brochure is clear and accurate. What I can add to it is that Annette makes the experience really special and makes you feel like she really cares that you have a great tour. It's proof of the old saying, "nobody cares how much you know unless they know how much you care."
