Came today for the first time for lunch with hubs. We were looking forward to this after the reviews but, alas, we were both greatly disappointed!!! Nothing wrong with the food or the service, but it's so damn hot in Santee. My bad, but I mistook Anny's as the late BABS burgers that was off convoy. Both burgers looked the same in the pictures. Anyway, we tried to eat here once before but the indoor seating is limited, and eating outside wasn't feasible because will it's Santee and it's sweltering hot most of the year. This time, we lucked out and found a table inside. This place is known for it's "picture wall menu" but there was no wall menu at this location. This was a bummer because it was hard to gauge what to order by their menu alone.. We went standard however with a simple bacon cheeseburger. The kids all got kid burgers. Our burger was good, but the bottom bun was not strong enough to hold the wet ingredients.. In the end it was still a good burger and lunch. Now what is puzzling was that the kid burgers did not taste as good as the adult burgers. We don't know what took us so long to come back - it was yummy! The garlic Parmesan fries were great with a light batter and lots of garlic. The onion rings had a nice crisp on the batter and the onions were tender. The veggie burger was as good as their beef burgers, but for "those" people ;) The Delish Dog had a really tasty bun with a good chew and the mushroom onion sauce would be wonderful on so many dinners. The centerpiece burger is really the focal point of the establishment (thus the name, Anny's Fine Burger). Served on a warm brioche bun, the Hawaiian I had was both tasty & satisfying. Attention is paid to the foods presentation, which also makes it a visual treat. I want to say I got me the half pound patty. Add to that all the Hawaiian toppings & that burger is HUGE. I have to say, Anny's does make a pretty fine burger. I had the special combo #3 which consisted of a 1/4 bacon cheeseburger, house fries, and a medium drink. The combo was $6.99 plus tax. The burger was very successful. The bun was extremely moist and the patty was very flavorful. I was also very impressed on how fresh the bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes were. Look around and you will find a small Anny's fine burgers sign. Anny's makes me think of a Denny's breakfast joint, obviously its not. Maybe they should change their name to amazing burger creations. This burger place may be a little difficult to find (unless you are getting off the last stop of the SD Trolley in Santee), but it is worth entering their address in your GPS and heading into the East County. Anny's is a small hamburger joint that makes everything, and I mean EVERYTHING (well maybe not the buns) from scratch and it makes a huge difference in taste, juiciness the burger and in satisfaction. The burgers are made to order and they have an entire wall dedicated to their hamburger menu. If you can not find one that is hitting the spot, you can design your own. What you're a vegetarian? Don't worry, there's a patty for that. I have also had their chicken wings which are ridiculously good and several flavors to choose from. There are also gourmet hot dogs to choose from. Started off disappointing when a customer in front of me took his time ordering so it was about 2 minutes after six when I got to order. I was il Happy Hour ends at 6 pm, so better luck next time. Ordered the Anny's Daily Special for $6.99 which is a cheese burger with fries. Burger and fries came out quick. Fries were just warm but the burger looked very good. Upon inspection the patty was very very thin and well done. Obviously had been cooked prior to ordering. Overall kind of disappointing given its a burger place. As a part of the great American takeout during the COVID-19 pandemic, we chose to order from this restaurant to help out a local business. I placed my order by phone, then sat in the restaurant for 45 minutes waiting for my order. During my time waiting, I witnessed the cashier handle at least 5 peoples cash and credit cards, answer the phone multiple times, hand several people their food orders, then proceed to start scooping ice cream to make milkshakes... NOT ONCE WASHING HER HANDS OR USING HAND SANITIZER, although it was sitting on the counter right in front of her. On a typical day, this would be unacceptable behavior, but in the midst of a public health crisis, dealing with a deadly virus that is largely spread by a lack of hand washing, when the world is on lockdown, this is absolutely repulsive, dangerous, and unacceptable! Yes, i did make my concerns and observations known, and no I did not leave with my food as I did not feel it would be safe to do so!
