I had some visitors in town and food/cuisine wise they could be hard to shop for, so to speak. However, I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't like a big hearty 'MERICAN style breakfast. Another Broken Egg Cafe was a bit far out but decided it was worth it with all the positive reviews. We chose to sit inside-just to bright and sunny out and we had a fairly mixed group, seniors to littluns. Our server was great, waiting patiently with both the kiddos as well as the non-English speakers. I went with the Shrimp and Grits because it's not something you see super often. It was a hearty meal, with a good amount of shrimp, seasoned right, a little on the mild side spice wise but that was easily remedied. A lot of good southern staples with friendly, patient service not much more you can ask for.
The service was great thanks to Malcolm he was very knowledgeable I wanted the pound cake French toast but guess what it was served for a limited time and I missed it Malcolm convinced me to get the apple crunch French toast and it was delicious, my husband had the chicken and waffles the establishment is clean and the staff were friendly
Came here for breakfast. Had the Bourbon Street Pancakes and they were so dry, Even with syrup. We also had the cinnamon roll pancake and it was good and moist (these had more toppings and made/cooked differently than the Bourbon Street ones, see pics) . I did the bowl with ham, grits, eggs, and cheese gravy on the side with the biscuit. And it was good.
Another Broken Egg Cafe is one of my go-to spots around Austin when I'm craving breakfast or brunch! They have seasonal offerings, you can substitute fresh fruit for the sides (extra cost), and the service is always great! You get good portion sizes and they have a lot of different options on the menu. FAST FACTS: * Parking - Decent size lot outside of the restaurant but it can be a little tough to grab a spot if they're pretty busy (like during brunch on weekends) * Waitlist - No reservations but you can join the waitlist on their website through Wisely. * Online ordering - Available on their website for pickup and delivery (with the exception of alcohol) * Gluten free and vegetarian options available * Allergen and nutrition information available on their website * Seasonal menu offerings * They usually ask if it's your first visit and will give you some complimentary biscuit beignets! SERVICE - I've always had fantastic service each time I've visited! There may be a wait if you visit during peak hours on the weekend but they do their best to get you seated quickly based on your preference of indoor or outdoor seating. Our server brought us water right away, checked on us throughout our meal, and our food came out quickly. Even when they are busy, the workers are always hustling and still maintaining great service! PRICING - The total was $56.02 after tax ($4.27) but before tip for a 1/2 order of biscuit beignets ($5.49), a Broken Egg biscuit sandwich ($13.79), substitution of fruit as a side ($3.49), cinnamon roll French toast ($13.49), and Bourbon Street pancakes ($12.49 + $3 for sides). BISCUIT BEIGNETS (9/10) - I get these every time I go as an appetizer! They're COVERED in powdered sugar, nice and hot on the inside, and it comes with a honey marmalade to dip them in. You can get a full order (8) or half order (4) depending on how many people you're splitting them with. I'd order these again! BROKEN EGG BISCUIT SANDWICH (8/10) - I love their biscuits! They're soft but flavorful and holds up when you're eating the sandwich. The piece of chicken was pretty massive and cooked perfectly. The egg and country sausage gravy made it a little messy but in the best way! It comes with potatoes on the side but you can substitute fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and pineapple) and a pickle spear. I'd order this again! CINNAMON ROLL FRENCH TOAST (8/10) - Delicious if you love cinnamon rolls! You get 3 big pieces drizzled in cream cheese icing and a rum butter sauce with fresh berries and whipped cream. If you want a sweet breakfast, this is perfect for you! BOURBON STREET PANCAKES (8/10) - You get 3 big pancakes topped with bananas, pecans, a rum butter sauce, and whipped cream... what's not to love? I love getting these to split with a table for some sweet bites in between savory ones. It comes with two eggs and a choice of meat... the house-made sweet & savory sausage had a great taste and texture! You get 2 decent size pieces. I'd order these again! CITY GRITS (7/10) - I love grits and these were pretty good! They're almost like a loaded baked potato but in grit form... they're super cheesy, topped with bacon, green onion, and tomatoes. It's a good size side and could even but split. I'd order these again! I've been to Another Broken Egg Cafe a handful of times and will continue to visit when I want a delicious breakfast or brunch and recommend it to others! I love trying new dishes every time I visit, especially with their seasonal offerings!
Service and atmosphere was great the moment we walked in! Host was sweet and Suzi was super sweet! Food came out quick, she was very attentive and kind to give us beignets as first time customers which were delicious! Especially the marmalade. We ordered the Lobster and Brie omlette along with Smoke Salmon Benedict. Both were a bit on the salty side for us, but overall cooked very well. Veterans Day was yesterday and Suzi mentioned the free meals they were giving. My girlfriend happens to be a veteran herself and it was her birthday today so Suzi packed a few extra beignets for us. Thank you so much again! Would definitely come back.
This place was really cute with good food. We were seated immediately but were not attend to until 5-7 mins later. They did give us the menus but waaaaaay too long to review before anyone came over to offer drinks. They were busy but not THAT busy. Food was great and delicious. Everyone enjoyed his/her meal. Portion was large. We shared the french toast, sweet and tasty. Loved the coffee mugs, so cute and homey. The service was ok/inconsistent. Spacious with many tables, also has outdoor seating. We'd be back for food when in town again.
Spacious, clean, attentive & friendly staff, and easy parking. Went here for breakfast and cup of joe, and got impressed with their great coffee and somehow the Bloody Mary got me at "bacon & olives" so it turned out to be a Great morning after all. The foods are delis, tasty and well presented. The beignets are light and fluffy and perfectly well paired with the jams (not as great as in New Orleans, but good enough) with coffee and the Bloody Mary. Overall, bloody fantastic place to start out the day.
The food was just average. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. The restrooms were clean as well. The waitress was very attentive and did a good job of refilling coffee and ensuring food was ok. I'm just not one to complain about suttle kitchen prep. The pancakes were slightly tough, and needed extra syrup to soak it up. The sausage patties were a little different seasoned; and moist. I paid around $25 for this meal. :/ It's really just a franchised breakfast joint located in a hippie area.
The atmosphere, service , and food is just what we were looking for! We came in after a hike and enjoyed a few different items. We got in line ahead of time and were sat within 5 minutes of arrival! The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and accommodating! The (manager I think) was very nice and checked on us quite a few times , also cleared our table and helped with a new situation when we were on the patio! We ordered the Tiramisu French toast which was delightful for a little treat! A tad too much cocoa powder for me but that espresso whip is amazinnnggg!!! I'll take a whole can of that next time .. please. lol Eggs and potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly! Both trip ms we had the blackstone Benedict with no bacon- however both times it was originally brought out with bacon and had to be sent back. However my partner enjoyed it once corrected hints why he had it both times. The lobster and Brie omelette was what I ordered the second time around and it was great however a little salty. The grits with cheese only were better than the previous bowl of "city grits" The strawberry pound cake French toast was basically just pound cake it did not give French toast vibes at all- probably wouldn't order again. Over all I love this place and the large menu! We will be back this weekend to try more!
I went here for the first time surprised that I hadn't been yet. The menu is full and everything looks so good. I already knew I wanted the Bourbon Street Pancakes before I arrived. I love bananas and pecans on/in my pancakes so the added rum sauce was a bonus. Unfortunately, it was all way too sweet. It came with a side of meat and eggs which was nice. I don't eat pork, or chicken and those were the only options for a meat side with the meal so that's strike one. Where's the turkey bacon or sausage for a healthier option? I was brunching with 5 other ladies and everyone's food looked great when it came out. The biscuit beneigts that were ordered for the table were the best thing I tasted in my whole meal. I wasn't impressed with the mocktail I ordered because it tasted mostly like soda instead of the pineapple juice and other ingredients that were supposed to be in it. As for service... Several of the drink orders we made came out after our food because "the bartender was backed up". And a couple of food items were also late. We had to ask about things that had not been served yet instead of being notified that there was a delay. The server we had was really nice and doing his best because I think he said it was only his second day. So there's some grace there. We sat outside and most of the meal there were wasps visiting our table being a nuisance. We thought they were bees at first which would have been okay but once we realized they were wasps it spoiled the mood with everyone being fearful of being stung. I spent $30 on food, drink and tip for a meal that was less than great. So glad that the company of the ladies I was with made the overall experience a good one. I may go back again to try different food/drink items and sit inside in hopes that this was just a fluke. We'll see.
* Beignets with marmalade: 4/5, really good with the marmalade but a little doughy * Cinnamon roll French toast: 5/5, super cinnamon flavor and tender with a great bit of freshness from the fruit * Chicken and waffles: 3.5/5, the waffle is delicious but the chicken is a bit dry * Service was perfect with Isaiah coming in with amazing recommendations and stopping by regularly * Lots of room for brunch on the weekdays * Big parking lot and can go grocery shopping at Randall's afterwards

Wow, all I can say is wow. Very impressed with my experience at this restaurant. The location is perfect. Dining room is beautiful and welcoming. The menu is diverse with many different options from breakfast foods to sandwiches. Our server, Ryan, was amazing and super welcoming. Every employee was helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. It was so hard not to leave a 5 star review and unfortunately there's no half stars. I had the Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich and every component except the biscuit itself was delicious. The biscuit was so hard that it was not edible so I had to deconstruct the sandwich to enjoy. My breakfast date had the strawberry pound cake french toast which is a dope spin on a breakfast classic and was quite tasty. Wait was what was expected, got seated pretty quickly on arrival but def a good idea to join the waitlist beforehand. Seating area was a little cramped and tighter than what I prefer but not horrible. read more

Our usual go-to is First Watch. But sometimes I feel like something new, similar, but somewhat different. This hits the spot! I loved the way the place looks inside, I can totally see the effort - cute, cozy, light and airy, looks cool in pictures if you feel like snapping a few. Last minute brunch on a weekend is always hectic. This place was packed so we had to wait a while but it was worth it! Got the seasonal chicken picatta Benedict which I highly recommend! Both of our plates were huge servings and despite our efforts we couldn't finish either. Our waitress also gave us free beignets since it was our first time! Nice brunch spot. I was visiting from out of town. The reviews where convincing. I was expecting a great experience. The food options are plentiful. I ordered the eggs benedict with lobster and it came with a grits options. The benedict was good. I did not realize there would be this thick potatoe hash brown patty on the bottom. That was a bit heavy. The flavor was good. I did feel as though it was quite a bit going on with it. The grits were creamy and kicked up with toppings that worked well together. My love had the cinnamon roll french toast. That was decadent and delish. The server brought out the biscuit beignets since this was our first time in. OMG they were so good, warm, airy and doughy at the same time. The marmalade was a nice touch for dipping. We had mimosas. One with cranberry juice, the other with strawberry purée. Another broken egg is a super great place to grab brunch, just make sure you have a reservation as it can get pretty busy during peak hours. The server was kind, it took us a little while to receive our check at the end. My lemon blueberry pancakes were so delicious and flavorful, but the grits fell short since they were plain. The parking is limited and the spots are small, but worth it for a yummy brunch! read more

My boyfriend and I have started to go out a bit more and one of our goals for 2022 is to try new breakfast spots that we haven't gone too before especially on the weekends. So on Sunday we decided to go try a new breakfast spot it was a close call between here and cafe Java but we took the trip into the far west area to find this hidden gem. Stepping into the restaurant this spot is in a cute plaza next to the randalls. The decor is super homey and inviting, the host promptly greeted us and sat us down at a table. A lot of places have gone digital due to Covid but this space still has paper menus and I actually prefer these physical menus! Once we sat down we both decided on two different types of Benedict's and ordered with the super attentive server. She was great and checked on us often throughout the meal, in a world where service industry workers are lacking she deserves an A +. The restaurant has a lot of families and got super packed around the time we were leaving at 10am. This place has such an extensive menu and the food was wonderful! To the point review. Pros: Delicious. Worth the wait. Cons: Long wait times. Crowded as hell. Here is a more in-depth review on the experience I had: Environment: Very easy to find location that's just about 3 miles away from the Arboretum. When you pull up, Randall's is not too far away from this joint. The parking lot is TIGHT with space so just a head's up. There are tables to sit outside at too. Inside: Wait times are crazy long. This is a popular joint for sure. Make sure to book in advance maybe about 1 hour to 2 hours ahead of heading here. It gets BUSY. Several booths, tables, and a bar to eat at too. Food and drinks: Big menu and a solid drink selection. Food was absolutely magnificent. I had to add a little bit of salt and pepper to my dishes but the flavors were amazing. Everything was thought out, and you can taste it. The fruits were fresh, eggs tasted great, and nothing was dry or bland (I just like salt). Price: The average dish comes out to be $13-$15 dollars. Portions are generous on my, "Am I getting my money's worth?" scale. Easy 4/5 for the scale. Repeat factor: Easy Y-E-S. Summary: Worth it. It does get packed but if you play it smart--this spot is excellent. My overall score with everything factored: 8.1/10. Worth the trip and the money. Not worth waiting in line for though because the food comes out fast but the tables get booked quickly, so make sure to book ahead to give yourself an easier time. read more

This is the best breakfast restaurant in Austin hands down. The quality of the food and portion sizes are definitely worth it. I've had quite a few things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Definitely try the mimosas. My only suggestion to check in online before you get their. There's normally a long wait, especially on the weekend. The good thing is that you can get in line virtually before you arrive. read more

Where are my brunch fanatics at? I recently came here and damn, they are one of my new favorites to go to. This isn't your typical brunch establishment - not only do they have a wide variety of breakfast classics, but they have some creative brunch dishes too such as: - Cinnamon Roll French Toast: Topped with cream cheese icing, rum butter sauce, and berries. - Banana Bread French Toast: Topped with brie cheese, sautéed apples, cinnamon, raisins and pecans, flambeed in orange liqueur and topped with fresh strawberries Both were great and you can't go wrong with either, just depends on which pastry you prefer. The cinnamon roll one was my absolute favorite! You can also get an order of biscuit beignets on the side which comes with a orange-honey sauce to dip in. You got to get this! Last, but not least: it's not brunch without a mimosa! They have over 6 flavors to choose from, so I went with Lemon Blueberry! Highly refreshing. All in all, I had an amazing time here. It's a laid back family environment, there's a huge selection to choose from, the service is great, and the food is too good. I give them a 5/5! read more

What a great find! I'm a big fan of breakfast food and this place did not dissapoint. The service was spectacular. From the moment we checked in and throughout the meal, everyone was friendly and accommodating. They brought me the wrong coffee, but before I could correct the mistake, they brought the correct order out. The main reason that this place did not get 5 stars is because our beignets were served on top of dirty plates that had egg on them. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict, my husband got the chicken and waffles and we got my son the rooster meal (eggs, bacon, fruit, biscuit). The food and drinks were hot and tasty. The potatoes side dish were delicious. Overall, a good family friendly breakfast spot that I'm happy to return to. read more

We stopped by to give this little place a try. We ordered the eggs benedict and a side of pancakes. The food arrived, and although the plating and portions were nice, we both found the taste of the eggs Benedict was a little off. Almost like the ham was on the edge of starting to turn, but couldn't tell if that was it or the green onions that threw it off. It's hard to say. They do have a nice menu with several things to choose from, so I won't knock them on the Benedict as there are a lot more check out here. The potatoes that came with the dish were a cube style with a very nice crisp to the outside and soft inside done just right with nice flavor. Coffee was good. Pancakes were ok, just not as fluffy as most. Service: A person brought us drinks, and then we had to flag down the host to get waited on. The waitress came by and took our order and was off. She had filled my coffee, then dropped off our food and didn't see her again till we had to flag down the host again to get our ticket. Wasn't happy with the service. The restaurant was nice and clean, and the ambiance was pleasant. Some things can be a one-off, service, or a single dish, so I'd say give it a try as there are good reviews on this restaurant as well. read more

Wow. This place exceeded my expectations. A Cajun flare right here in Austin. Finally. We ordered the Mardi Gras omelette that came with the most delicious grits and a waffle on the side. The omelette was perfectly seasoned, with a large portion. The grits. Oh those grits. It had pieces of bacon -not bacon bits, real bacon and chives. YUmmmm. The service was absolutely impeccable and the outside seating made for COVID-friendly eating. There was a wait, but it was worth every minute. They'll see us again. Been here twice now. Was excited to go back. This time on a weekday brunch vs. Saturday brunch and I can tell the difference. Last time on Saturday dishes tasted a bit better, fresher, hotter. Today many of our dishes were cold or warm. The biscuit beignets were a slight let down. Expected bigger and fluffier but today it was small doughy and dense. Was it cooked through? The Mardi gras omelette was better the first time I had it on a Saturday. Today was ok. Creamy. We got two different Benedicts and the hash brown one was heavy. The crab cake one was tasty. We got the Napoleon temptation and wow it was huge! No way someone can eat this on their own. It was nice and sweet. Layers of carbs lol last time we ordered the strawberry pound cake french toast. It was tasty. Wanted to try something different this time around. We also got the shrimp Benny last time too. Really liked that as well. L Overall it was a yummy experience. Glad we went back with different peeps. Just realized it tasted a bit better on the weekend. Both times our waitress was kind and attentive amidst the busyness. This time they sat us in the back maybe by the kitchen with a constant loud thumping noise behind my friend's head. It was comical and annoying at the same time lol Prices are reasonable for the portions they give. Many of the dishes come with a side of grits, fruit or potatoes, eggs, bacon or sausage. So they give a lot. Perfect to share. Cute little place where Mangia used to be in a nice neighborhood. Quaint. Oh my friends car got bumped while in the parking lot here though so be careful. I have a group of 12 for an upcoming Saturday and when I called I was told there are no reservations...to sign up on Yelp. Yelp only goes up to 8 people. How can I assure our table will be ready?
I would sign up through yelp then call ahead and let them know it is 12 not 8
