Another Broken Egg Cafe has really good customer service and gluten free entrees for brunch. The first time we ordered to go, they forgot the avocado in the gluten free avocado toast. The manager remade both entrees for my husband and I, and he gave him a coupon for a free entree on our next visit! The second time I ordered gluten free bananas foster pancakes which came with two eggs and two slices of bacon. They have the best gluten free pancakes in Austin! They're fluffy and not gritty like Kerbey Lane. I was in disbelief that they didn't accidentally serve me gluten pancakes. They also have outdoor seating so you can bring your doggos! read more

This is an extremely popular place for brunch - hence the need to sign yourself up on the waitlist on yelp to reserve your spot! Despite the crowd, the host and staff were all very efficient in directing the flow, and I managed to grab a seat quite smoothly around the ETA given to me by yelp. Overall the food here has a lot of potential. The flavor combinations seem so well balanced and thought out. However in reality the execution was struggling. Even for scrambled eggs and bacon - the eggs were overcooked and were quite dry/chewy. I also got the lobster and brie omelette, which in theory sounds delicious, but there was barely any lobster. There was also too much brie stuffed inside which overpowered the whole dish; I found myself reaching for my glass of water in between every bite. Lastly we ordered a seasonal menu item, the lemon custard stuffed french toast. I love tartness and lemon and thought this would be a hit but there was way too much of the curd - it needed some more balance from the whip cream and strawberries to cancel out all the sourness. The staff always asks if you are first time guests and if so, they offer a half serving size of their beignets which is very nice of them. However the beignets were quite dense and hard to chew. Also they provide many different mimosa flavors, but I did think the portion was quite small for the price. Overall, great potential but poor execution. Friendly staff. I called at 8 am to reverse a table for 8 people for 11am. But apparently once you get there and check in , it is when they start preparing your table, and apparently it takes 45min of wait time. Food was great, but honestly I believe you shouldn't call to reserve, since they have been accepting walk-ins. read more

Second review here! This review is strictly on service. After my review I appreciated how both corporate and the owner of this location reached out to me. They asked me to try the restaurant again at no charge however since it is so far away the owner refunded me (minus the tip per me asking as the server still deserved her tip). Oh 'Em Gee!!!! Hands down the best brunch I've had... EVER! My boyfriend and I decided to try them out this past Saturday and every single item was superb! The service was absolutely amazing! City Grits are definitely a must have! They are so smooth you'd think you were eating mashed potatoes! I also had the bourbon street pancakes chefs kiss!! My main dish was the bacqueso omelette... Tried this place for the first time and will definitely be back, it's the best brunch I've had in Austin so far! I had the biscuits and gravy and everything tasted homemade. Also had the bourbon street pancakes and they were amazing, super sweet and flavorful! My bf had the crab cakes benedict and lemon blueberry pancakes, he said the crab cakes were good but could've been better. The lemon pancakes were good, not overly sweet and he really liked them but I preferred the bourbon street pancakes. My mom had the classic breakfast plate and she said it was good also. I also had the strawberry st. Germain mimosa and it was the best! Love the modern twist on a classic mimosa. Just a 20 minute wait and we had the most satisfying brunch ever. My son suggested we try something new and this food was amazing. We shared a 1/2 order of beignets and tried to decide what to eat. I settled on the Mardi Gras Omelette filled with delicious seafood and a side of potatoes. My son had the Cinnamon Roll French toast, eggs with cheese and Chicken sausage. For Another Broken Egg Cafe this place is definitely all that's it's cracked up to be . The whole vibe and decor first of all is charming and inviting . It is a bit loud but that's because there are so many happy patrons eating delicious food enjoying the place as a whole . This was our first time here and where excited to see what the hype was as everyone online seems to really enjoy the food . We did have a small hiccup upon arrival . First of all I know there will be a significant wait especially being Sunday at a super popular brunch spot and I also understand we aren't any more special than anyone else waiting , so as to get that out of the way . So here's what happened, we signed in with the hostess with purple short hair told her we preferred inside with a high chair and then waited outside until we found a seat directly in-front of the hostess/ host stand the last 30 minutes of our wait. We waited an entire hour total because once again this place is that good . As I finally received the notification that our table was ready the family next to us apparently received there's as well . We knew they where the table/ group rite after ours as they had mention it while waiting . My family and myself sitting directly in front of the hostess area stands up and they proceeded to stand up behind us . I tell the hostess we are ready and she then says " excuse me can you move over I'm seating them and I'll be with you " I then say but we are before them not to be rude but we have been waiting just as long and should be seated in order . She again says " well sorry ! You can just wait ,there will be a table shortly " and proceeds to lie to my face saying "I called your name and you never came up so sorry but I'm taking them ". As she walked them to their table and returns I say excuse me but I'm two feet away you didn't even call anyone's name nor did you walk outside to call any names and you didn't even give a whole minute before you texted the group after ours on the wait ! Plus I was standing here rite in-front of you with my whole family meanwhile the other group hadn't even finished standing up and was clearly behind me . She says "well there's a table outside that's getting cleaned you'll sit there !" I said we asked for inside like an hour ago and a high chair . The other host came bye who I also specifically asked for a high chair 30 Minutes prior said you can follow me outside so I had to also explain to him the scenario about wanting indoor seating and a high chair . They both look at each other and he says "oh well if you want a high chair your going to have to wait longer since you cannot sit at a booth with one because it's a hazard is that ok or do you want outside seating now? You basically only have those choices or it will be a wait for indoor seating that can accommodate a high chair" in other words deal with it . But what really upset me was the family that they sat that was supposed to be after us had been sat at an indoor table for four that was high chair "friendly". Like really ? Other than this harsh beginning to our first time eating at Another Broken Egg Cafe we where greeted by the worlds nicest waitress no BS which turned our whole experience around and made our brunch so much better . The food was exceptionally good and our kids really enjoyed the fact they got yogurt packs of all things with their kids breakfast . The hash brown Benedict was so good I'd hurry in to try it like no joke it's amazing but also seasonal so I don't know how long they will have it on the menu . You'd think well the summer season just started but I'm dumb so who knows lol . We also tried the lemon custard stuffed French toast which was also seasonal and phenomenal if you like sweets . One thing that really did it for us though where the powder sugar biscuit beignets with orange zest honey . Like wow they are definitely a reason to come here all on their own . Just don't forget to get something salty and a Sunday cocktail to balance it all out . Last but not least the owner came over and let us know he was sorry about the mishap even though he had nothing to do with the hostess actions . He was an extremely nice guy and we felt horrible he even had to deal with any part of the situation even though it's his restaurant. We know people can be picky ,rude and much more when it comes to customers as my wife and I have both worked in the restaurant industry in multiple positions and know upset customers aren't the easiest thing to handle sometimes . He has amazing customer service an outstanding restaurant anyone could be jealous of and even took some of the plates off our Bill which was above and beyond /completely unnecessary but highly appreciated. Came for breakfast this morning with my Wife, baby, and father-in-law because I had a free birthday stack of pancakes which I believe should have came with 3 pancakes but only had 2. I will say it was an average experience. We were the 3rd or 4th table sat as we arrived at about 7:30. The service was pretty slow we assume on the kitchen part despite all of us ordering the same thing. We waited about 30-40 mins before our food got to the table. What I feel contributed to a 3 star review was the fact they charged almost $9 for 2 eggs and 3 strips of low quality bacon to go with my free stack of pancakes. I understand charging for these items but charging almost the price of a whole other entree is ridiculous. Overall I might come back but definitely would not be my 1st choice. I used Uber eats to have brunch delivered from this spot and it was delicious. We tried the lobster grits, the sausage and gravy with biscuits, and the buttermilk pancakes. The homemade sausage was excellent and a nice addition with a thick, flavorful gravy. Overall, my favorite dish was the lobster and grits. I'm not one to eat grits so it was a new experience, but worth it. The flavor was really good and reminded me of New Orleans. It really could've used a lot more actual lobster though because it was hard to find. I left off one star because of the pancakes and the bacon. They were both a bit dry and overcooked for me. We got here and it was BUSY and I thought the lady at the front said a 30 minute wait....I must have misheard because it was only 3 minutes!!!! I had the the Lobster & Brie omelette and my partner had the Bacquizo (spelling???) Omelette. Our servers name was Heather and she was FANTASTIC. Answered all my stupid questions!! Never returning again, food looked great from afar, but we never got any of it. The table had food under it so I got food and syrup all over my shoe when we sat down. My husband had to get the highchair we asked for because they never brought it. We got drinks ordered, but had to walk up to another server to get cream for the coffee. Our waiter walked past us several times and took care of other tables before we finally got his attention to order food 30 minutes later. We waited another 40 minutes before waving our waiter down to leave with nothing. In the meantime several tables who came in after us were seated, ate and tables replenished with new people. I doubt our waiter ever put our food in. We wound up feeding our toddler his snacks for his meal because nothing ever came and he got hangry. Had good reviews, but did not measure up even close. The menu looked great, and food looked delicious, but my rating is due to the poor management and service I experienced my first and so far only time there. When we visited their AC was having issues which, I TOTALLY understand in Austin, especially that weekend. that wasn't the issue. The problem is that when we said we wanted a table inside and we were told it'd be a 20-30 min wait outside, no one mentioned anything about the AC. So we spent 20 min sweating outside just to come in to an equally hot and stuffy restaurant. It was immediately obvious that the AC wasn't on but our waitress didn't mention it. Once the heat became pretty unbearable, my aunt very politely asked a male manager what was going on, and he very, very, rudely snapped back that they were having AC issues. He seemed very uninterested and unapologetic towards our table of mostly senior citizen patrons who were overheating. Later, as I stared at a beautiful plate of crab cake Benedict I couldn't eat because it was so uncomfortably hot, I decided to just ask if I could send the food back and make the whole thing a wash. Normally I'd have just taken the food home but there was no way I'd be able to properly keep or reheat a crab cake Benny. When I explain this to the waitress she is reluctant to take the food back and she rolled her eyes as she took the untouched plate. It was the second time during our visit that someone working there belittled our discomfort and showed how annoyed they were at US for being too hot in a place with no AC during an excessive heat warning. Luckily, eventually, a female manager came over and handled the situation as it should have been handled in the first place. She was kind, understanding, and admitted there should have been better communication. However, I'm still really unsettled with how they decided to pretend nothing was wrong as people waited to be seated (the dishonesty of it all) and how the male manager spoke to my aunt when she was simply asking why it was so hot and how long it might be that way. 1 star read more
