Our experience at this restaurant was not good at all. Pancakes and eggs that I ordered was good but that's where it stops. When we sat down we noticed the napkins were sticking to it he table and my partner mentioned this to our server and suggested it needed to be wiped down. The waitress said that yes, they have been sticky all morning and did not wipe it down. My friends eggs were cold, the potatoes were undercooked and the English muffin was not toasted or heated through. We had to ask for silverware and for coffee refills. Uh, ok, dudes. So we went to the USAF Museum (which was dope) and then we needed food so we went here because it was close. Now, full disclosure, our hunger levels were approaching 'starving wolf in late winter' so it is entirely possible that we could have eaten anything and it would have been delicious because we were so ravenous, but the food was really, like remarkably good. Huevos Rancheros were nontraditional but fantastic; the kids ate every speck of food on their plates, and the service was really good as well. Is this place a chain? This has to be one of the worst places I have ever eaten! All of my food was cold, the bacon was burnt, fortunately the food deliver knocked a piece on the floor so I told her to bring me a whole new order. It was cold when I got it. It's clear they fry there bacon way ahead and fail to keep it hot. The grits had a nice thick skin over them from being bowled up way ahead of time. Our waitress took our order, did not bring our food, showed up about 10 minutes after our food was delivered with coffee. Then we had to wait 10 minutes after we were through to get our check. I am absolutely in love with this place!! The food is amazing, I got french toast made from banana bread(!!!!), and it came with strawberries, raisins, pecans, and apples. It was sweet, but not tummy ache sweet. A perfect balance. Prices were perfect because the portions they give are large! Our server today was Hannah, and she was very kind and yet didn't overwhelm or bombard us like we've experienced at other restaurants. Great place for a lovely breakfast, brunch or lunch, especially if you like to have a Bloody Mary or mimosa to top off the experience-- the kids at the hostess station were friendly and helpful, short wait time for a table, friendly waitresses who smile as they walk past, all staff smile and say good morning. Waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions based on my questions. Platter arrived without a long wait. I ordered the HEY LUCY!™ OMELETTE, coffee, and apple juice. Chorizo omelette was delightful (difficult to make a decision from all the menu choices). Fried potatoes were truly fried, crunchy and nicely seasoned -- not a mushy half cooked plop of greasiness. This restaurant is open and operating while many businesses on this street were demolished by the recent tornadoes in the Dayton area. I usually like to avoid franchises, but Broken Egg's menu is so unique to this area, I will not insult them by calling them a franchise. I'm also not going to compare them to First Watch, the only thing they have in common with that chain is that they also offer upper scale breakfast. On my first visit there, first of all our server offered to take our coats and hang them up for us. Nice touch! I had to try the smoked salmon Benedict. It was fantastic, my eggs were perfectly prepared, coffee was hot, and I loved that the flavored creams were offered in addition to regular cream. My sister and brother in law were coming to town and I couldn't wait to take them to my new favorite restaurant. My sister was extremely pleased with her peach cobbler pancakes, my brother in law had a Southwest omelet, and I tried another variation of Eggs Benedict. We had a leisurely brunch, our plates were cleared as we finished our breakfast and our coffee cups were kept full. So many options on the menu, I look forward to my next visit. read more

Ordered the beignets- four dollars for four. Chewy tasteless and not much bigger than a donut hole from Dunkin. If you want real beignets go to NOLA. If you are here in Dayton go to a donut shop buy donut holes, sprinkle on some confectioner's sugar and you have the same as this place at a much lower price. read more
