My second time at Another Broken Egg, but my first time at this location. As brunch is my favorite meal, everything on the menu aounded good so choosing was difficult. Being October, I opted for the pumpkin waffle with a side of scrambled eggs and ham. I looked forward to the meal, but unfortunately it gave me nothing to rave about. First of all, our service wasn't great. Our server neglected to give us straws and the right amount of silverware for our guest number. I had a coupon for a free order of biscuit beignets, but she only gave a half order. And then for the food, my waffle came cold and soggy on the bottom like it had been sitting out, so I had to return it to the kitchen. My friend also had to wait an additional 10 minutes for her Chicken and Waffle dish to be brought out, and no explanation was given for the delay. After making a long, but scenic backroads trip to Dayton, Ohio we looked around for a good, novel place to eat. After consulting our Yelp guide to find a unique restaurant we might like because we were not very familiar with the Dayton area. After looking through the area reviews, we decided to go to "Another Cracked Egg Cafe." This restaurant was simple to find and not far from our location in Dayton and I noticed the Yelp website offered a convenient early sign-in for their waitlist. So, we did that, which made things a lot easier. As we pulled into the big parking lot we saw handicapped parking available just outside the main entrance which always helps to create an affable dining experience. We were not wrong. We saw all the necessary personal Covid19 precautions in place. With our early sign-in the hostess quickly seated us in a beautiful, spacious dining area and our waiter, Arthur, promptly came to greet us. We told him that this was our first time here as he gave us menus and told us all about the style of the food on the menu and the history of the restaurant. Arthur took our drink order; raspberry ice tea for me and a unique glass of chocolate milk, slathered with chocolate syrup and whipped cream all through the glass for Marsha. Both were very good. Then, because we were first-timer's to the restaurant, we were provided with a complimentary plate of delicious beignets, lavishly coated with confectioner's sugar. The menu presents a unique breakfast and brunch fare with a southern, Louisiana, creole charm to titillate the palate. I had the "Mardi Gras Omelet" loaded with Gulf shrimp, Louisiana-style crawfish, andouille sausage, bell peppers, and drizzled with delicious Hollandaise sauce and a side of creamy grits to top off my meal. Of course, I always order coffee with the meal. The coffee came in a uniquely designed, beautiful "Another Broken Egg Cafe" cup. (Which we bought two of them to take with us.) Our waiter, Arthur, was helpful, answered all of our questions about the menu, yet was not intrusive. We learned that he was as unique as the food he served! He shared with us that he is in training as an Olympic Rock Climber, a new inclusion for the summer Olympics. During our meal, Chef Alton came out to introduce himself after he learned this was our first time at his restaurant. We told him we were pleasantly surprised at the menu choices, but the food we had was delicious and we would be back soon. Went again because first experience was so great. Toke my son during winter break for breakfast. We ordered the exact same thing and food was amazing again. First time was there I sat away from bar in main dinning area and service was amazing. This time in booths almost directly across from bar. The food was great but listening to the employees openly complaining about the place and people was so ridiculous it ruined the experience. The lady behind the bar was nice but the guy with hair ear to shoulder length and the dark haired lady with the tattoo for some reason we're just being absolutely rude and insulting to some of the guests. This is not our first visit to this Café, and it certainly will not be our last. We always get good service, and the food is always amazing! It's always an adventure for us because we like to try new things. The strawberry poundcake French toast was really, really good! It is actually poundcake that has been fried like French toast and then topped with strawberries and whipped cream. The southwest scrambler was another awesome dish! It's always good to check in online, and then go and check in at the desk. Then you know for sure how long you're going to be waiting. The only downside to this place is that they are so good, that you typically have to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes, sometimes longer, it just depends on how busy they are. What a wonderful place to wake up and have breakfast. This place gives you a hometown feeling with warm greetings and great food. I got the Hash brown Eggs Benedict and was not disappointed. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside made the hash browns perfect for the yolk off the eggs. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here. Good things first: The Cinnamon Roll French toast is excellent and our server was wonderful. If you decide to go, get a menu when you arrive so you can decide and order your food the minute you sit down because it takes forever for the food to come. Ordered a cold brew with vanilla and cream and a egg Benedict. The coffee was about a 3 star coffee. Tasted more like milk then coffee. I tried to get it corrected by having the bartender just add more cold brew but it still wasn't good at all. I recommend that the restaurant invest in milk/cream pourers and just let the customer do it themselves. The food was great!
