Another Broken Egg Cafe is an American restaurant chain that specializes in southern-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch. Since opening its first location in Mandeville, La in 1996, it has expanded its operation to include over 75 locations nationwide. Another Broken Egg Madison ranks among my favorite in the state of Alabama. Other honorable mentions go to the Tuscaloosa and Mountain Brook locations. Like other locations, the menu features an assortment of traditional and speciality breakfast items including chef-inspired omelettes, Benedict and sweet treats off the griddle. On this visit, I ordered the Traditional Day Starter, which includes 2 eggs, a serving of breakfast meat (I opted for maple bacon chicken sausage) and a fresh fruit. I also added a short stack of pancakes (+$4.29). Overall, I was pleased with my order choice and the service was exceptional in spite of the holiday crowds. I come to Huntsville for work often. When I am here I look forward to breakfast/brunch here at the Broken Egg. I usually sit at the bar but I have sat at a few tables. The service no matter where you sit is always on point. I recommend to sit at the bar with Jerrie "The Barkeep", she is awesome and hands down the best barkeep in Huntsville . I got the cinnamon roll French toast. Which was heavenly. It is a very heavy meal so make sure you're hungry when getting this, however it reheats greatly for a midnight snack. As far as service...there was none. Despite the fact that they weren't busy and had many empty tables we were taken to the table right at the back tucked away in a corner never to be remembered again. I had to get up and ask someone to come and even take our drink orders. We decided to take that opportunity to place our food order then as the staff seem to enjoy a wonderful workplace comprising of much talking and laughing in back out of sight of customers with service being the last thing on their mind. Tables are left dirty and uncleared as they socialise, customers ignored. We've come here before for their eggs Benedict and they used to be great. Unfortunately they have decided that the simple task of making hollandaise sauce is too much effort and clearly now get some kind of canned wall paper paste instead. Everything we ate was absolutely awful. The beignets were hard on the outside and uncooked on the inside and the avalanche of powdered sugar on them meant you couldn't taste anything else. Our food was tepid at best if not outright cold. My son had a waffle that was reminiscent of mattress foam with rubbery cold eggs. Hubby had crab cake Benedict that were so fishy smelling and tasting that I hope he doesn't get sick. Mine had chopped bacon as the main meat and it was basically just a sprinkle you couldn't taste. Sliced tomato, poached eggs and wallpaper paste was all that was on my untoasted muffin. The side of "country" potatoes was cold, shrivelled and lacking in any kind of crunch or flavour at all. The overall feeling we all had upon finishing was immense relief that we were done and could leave. We will never return here. I would have left no stars if I could. read more

I went to Another Broken Egg apparently during a very busy weekend. I made reservations so I only had to wait a few minutes for them to wipe down the table and seat us. Our waiter immediately greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered a mimosa carafe. It took about 30 minutes or so for them to make it. Apparently they had to wash some glasses. The waiter did apologize for the wait. Our food eventually came out as well. It's your typical breakfast food. Nothing super special about it. But the waiter was super nice even though it took a while for us to receive our food and mimosas. He also brought us some beignets for my friend's birthday. All in all, just a very busy day to visit ABE. However, I'm not counting them out completely. read more

At first, we thought this might be just another overpriced hipster joint, but we would've been wrong.. the food was delicious! I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, which was NOT covered in rich hollandaise, but rather sprinkled with capers and minced red & green onion, on a toasted bagel. Eggs were perfectly soft-poached, and the side of buttery grits completed this dish. Now, for the peace de resistance, the biscuit beignets. OMGeee. Perfect bites of not-too-sweet powdery puffs, dipped in a luscious honey marmalade. If nothing else, please try these. Good job, chef and staff. We will return. read more

Sadly to report but Another Broken Egg (This Specific Location) has let me down terribly. It's been years since I've eaten here and I have been dying to come back. But, I'm afraid it'll be another few years before I decide to give them another shot. For a Thursday Morning there was little to no people seated. The parties that came after my family and I got there food first and once we received ours its was not fresh for the amount of time we spent waiting. My bacon was burnt and rock hard. The biscuit beignets were also old/hard. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast and it was like warm and the bread had toughened. My wife had the Supreme omelette and her meal also had burnt bacon that overpowered the taste. The only enjoyable part of my breakfast was the powdered sugar and the fresh fruit my infant had. Needless to say we left hungry and were already wondering when we would eat lunch. Had the food been fresh and wed been served timely this experience would have played out differently. Spent my birthday breakfast at the wrong restaurant I should've went to metro diner. Very disappointed read more

So today I decided to treat myself to breakfast. With all of the new choices in the Madison area, I chose Another Broken Egg. I was not disappointed! I was greeted at the door immediately and was shown to my table. Elijah came by right away to take my drink order. The decided on the Tito's Mary, and it was awesome! This is a followup visit I promised! I was seated immediately, and happily not recognized (I don't want anyone to know I am in "review mode"). The waitress (Morgan) recommend a coffee she described as "on the stronger side, with a hint of cinnamon", I was skeptical, but SO glad I tried this wonderful blend. I ordered the "Eggs Blackstone Benedict" with plain grits- and requested butter, and warned, "YES, I like my eggs a little runny". Breakfast was quickly server and was piping hot. The eggs were close to perfect! The meal was wonderful and I certainly couldn't have made this at home. Just a wonderful experience. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. In the Huntsville/Madison area for work, I decided to eat here for a late breakfast/early lunch on 6/19/2024. I chose the veggie omelette with bacon added, fruit and a coffee because I hadn't had breakfast and knew it would be late when I would eat dinner. Literally had nothing else all day. In the midst of my 3 mile power walk that night, I was hit with abdominal cramps so hard they made me nauseous. I spent the next 8 hours with the worst food poisoning that I have ever experienced. Almost drove myself to urgent care at 3am. Like dysentery level food poisoning. I don't know what protocol they have here with washing hands or vegetables but they need to step it up. I won't ever eat here again. 0/10, do not recommend! And it was $25 for an omelette, fruit and coffee read more

The food here is pretty good and I had a couple of tasty bloody Mary's on our last visit, but the service is only slightly better than atrocious. The crowds weren't too bad this past weekend (we went twice) while we were in town which was nice as the wait was nonexistent. Our first server was nice enough but we had to practically beg to get everything we needed or refills on coffee, etc. the staff doesn't help each other out when they have a pitcher in their hands by topping off water or coffee at another server's section. My wife and I met many moons ago waiting tables so we get it. We had to wait for drinks and silverware and just all the little things you don't really notice until they aren't getting done. Came here for brunch and was not disappointed at all, probably my favorite meal while visiting Huntsville. As it was my first time coming here I was provided complimentary beignets. I tried to only eat one, but I couldn't stop myself from eating 3, they were so good! I ordered the shrimp and grits Benedict special which was delicious. The grits cake was soft and creamy and the egg poached perfectly. The fresh fruit also seemed actually fresh-cut with strawberries mango and pineapple, not that mushy grape mixture that you usually get from other places. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Every. Time. I. Go. To. Another. Broken. Egg. It. Disappoints. Let's just get that out of the way. I FAR prefer Metro Diner--both menu wise and in general--but sometimes, life throws you in ABEC's direction. I will say, staff was very courteous and let me grab a table even though I was a bit early for a planned business lunch. They weren't slammed and it was during the week, so I didn't feel like I was putting them out--plenty of seating was available. The server delivered my coffee (no silverware, which made stirring in sugar impossible) and then...disappeared. I did finally get a refill after we were served our food and had to make do with flavored creamer only (ick). Onto the food. Now, our server asked me TWICE what I wanted with my scramble and I told her (twice) potatoes and an English muffin. I was served grits (ew), and toast (which I didn't even know they had). The scramble was okay, if overcooked, but whatever. Dining companions had better luck in getting their meals as ordered, but the promised hot sauce arrived after our meal was eaten. I honestly don't think this was totally on the server, I think it was on the HORRIBLY loud music piped in--and I swear, if I hear that Mariah Carey Christmas song blasting ONE MORE TIME and I heard it TWICE in an hour here--and just the general acoustics of the restaurant. The size/portion was really good but the real star was his city grits. ALWAYS GET THE CITY GRITS. Pass on the sandwich if you want something fancy bc it was giving Publix tenders ...good but not wow.
