Quite possibly the worst restaurant experience I've had in years. On a Wednesday morning we walked in (5 of us) and it wasn't crowded. But it still took more than an hour to get our food. There were at least six tables that weren't cleaned, yet servers seemed to be standing around and not very busy. The hostess took us to a table that hadn't been wiped down. The whole time we waited for our food we watched two other parties leave the restaurant before being seated. They waited for someone to greet them and no one did. Even though there were several servers in the vicinity. After an hour with no food we asked for a manager. The server said he would be right over and he never came. My husband got up and walked through the restaurant to find him. Again, this place was not crowded at all. And it didn't seem like they were short staffed. Also, our food was barely warm when we got it. The manager (Daniel) gave us 50% off our bill. He tried to give us free beignets for our next visit. We told him we weren't coming back. read more

Hostess was not welcoming or helpful and seemed upset to be doing her job (she seemed bothered when we interrupted a conversation with a co worker and when I checked in on wait time). After waiting 45 minutes for a table, as we are seated we noticed that we could have sat at the bar without a wait (which would have been nice to know about when we checked in)... The atmosphere and wait staff are nice. Food was good (I didn't like it as much as my boyfriend did), however it is way overpriced. We paid 40 dollars for breakfast (before tip). Ordered beignets (a starter), 2 juices, 2 entrees, and a side of bacon. Worth going at least once, but not going to be a regular occurrence. read more

There's sort-of a dearth of good brunch spots in T-Town--or at least ones that are open past 12pm (when I am waking up). I will say this: ABEC has tasty good, big portions, and it hits the spot--and they're open until 2pm. Everything else I could "take or leave". There's usually a long wait where they give you a buzzer to hold onto. Like if you arrive at noon you will not be seated until 1pm and you will not eat until 1:30pm. Just keep that in mind. I've also found the coffee to be WEAK and you have to ask them for it black or they will put milk in it (at least for the iced coffee). Although I think the food is tasty & don't mind paying a little extra for a good eat, it's a little higher than other places in town (& they will upcharge the hell out of you--I got charged $2 for two tiny TINY little garlic toastettes I asked for extra). The service here is unmemorable. I'll probably be back because it's a decent eat and there's not many other options around, but if you've never been before, just be warned on the wait and the price. read more

Having a delicious here while gazing at the Black Warrior River is one of my favorite things to do on a lovely morning in Tuscaloosa. Everything I've had here is good, and the service is always friendly, helpful, and attentive. Love this place. read more

We found this place on yelp.com of course and thought we'd give it a try. We arrived and found the place to be very nice. The thought of having a nice breakfast with my family while overlooking the river sounded perfect, Until the hostess seated us next to the most oblivious two mothers with four of the most ill-behaved kids on the planet! Before we even got our glass of water these little flagitious individuals were destroying the place. One little imp thought he was Chuck Norris and as we ALL know there is only one Chuck Norris! The other little destructive offspring of satan were equally as bad because of peer pressure I'm sure because this type of public behavior is hard to duplicate on their own. After one of the clearly clueless mom's recognized that these heathens are disrupting the entire restaurant she did what Every mom would do, PLAY A CARD GAME! REALLY? After this magnificent technique ensued the hellions got relatively quiet but then the mom of the year kicked in her vocal megaphone. Obnoxious obviously runs in the family! Shortly after this high level card game that made absolutely no sense they departed this nice place which allowed FEMA to step in and assess the damage this table had caused. I have been here for breakfast and lunch and they are both great! The bacon cheeseburger is really good here also the pancakes are! I love Another Broken Egg. Only thing I would change is how busy it is. It is never empty, you have to get there when it opens or you will be waiting 30 minutes or more to get table. It is worth the wait. read more

Very poor management of the waiting list. You shouldn't have two areas that can be used for a waiting list. Waited almost two hours and when questioned about where we were in line we were informed that there was another list you could login to move up? We dined there today. We were seated at 12:05pm. A party of three. Drinks came on time. Waitress took our order. After about half an hour we were informed that computer was down and they couldn't order our food. Really!?! You can't write it down and give it to the kitchen?? Were informed 15 minutes later that order was finally put in. At 1:15pm still no food. Asked for the manager. Never saw him or her. Why didn't they come out to the tables to apologize? Finally got our food. It was alright. We were given 50% off the bill but neither the waitress nor the manager seemed to care. Very bad experience. read more

Located this restaurant via Yelp for breakfast this past Sunday morning - the wait was about 30 minutes and we noticed as we were being seated that there were many empty tables making you wonder why did we wait?? Our waiter provided good service but had zero personality. We both ordered The Supreme omelet - it was dry and pretty crispy, the potatoes were very good but the English Muffin was almost burnt. I ordered hot chocolate - it was topped nicely with whipped cream but when I got to the liquid - it was cold not even warm. We also ordered biscuit Beignets which were quite good!! I've been to another broken egg several times and usually enjoyed it. The last time I went, however, was not a good experience. I ordered the lobster roll, which was decent until I found a short, black, curly hair in it (I'm blonde). I called the waiter over, but she laughed and took the food back to the kitchen. We were in Tuscaloosa earlier this week and decided to go back to this restaurant, since we had been there the last year when we were in town. We thought it was fantastic, just like the last time I love the menu here, since it offers a very nice variety of options, and we don't find the pricing to be out of line. And I love the atmosphere! My husband is very picky about his biscuits and gravy, and even he was extremely pleased. I had the Huevos Rancheros and loved it! The tortillas were crispy, but I still enjoyed my meal very much. Aimee was our server, and she was very friendly and attentive. She even gave us some helpful advice we asked for about the area. We can't wait to go back the next time we're in town! read more

We stopped here for breakfast on a recent trip to Tuscaloosa. It's very close to the U of A campus, located by the river in a great location. Tables are available on a deck overlooking the river. We ate inside, but outside looked to be a nice spot. One of our group had an omelette, another had a traditional breakfast, while I had oatmeal. All were tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. Such poor customer service! They quoted us 45min to an hour, which was fine. After an hour, there were 6 parties ahead of us, and they quoted us at 20 more minutes. I highly doubt it would have been that short. We left. They seemed understaffed and food appeared very slow in coming out. No sense of urgency. Advice: overestimate time. Will not return. read more

Prior to this visit, this would have been a 5 star review without question. Unfortunately, our experience has downgraded it to 3 at best. We decided to come have brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. I called to make a reservation, and the friendly, helpful woman who answered the phone directed me to the app. I wasn't able to make a reservation through the app, but I did mention to her that we would have a group of moms and would need 3-4 high chairs and I was assured that wouldn't be an issue. When we arrived, the hostess clearly had an issue with it, as we were treated like an inconvenience. When we were seated, we were given one kids menu and three adult menus, plus 3 sets of silverware for the table. We had four adults and five kids. We had to ask for additional menus and silverware, which the hostess delivered with clear irritation. Our server did a decent job, although he had very limited interaction with our table. I had to ask for a refill on coffee, which I have never had to do on a visit here. Despite the 20 minute wait, our food was delicious. The kids, considering that we had 5 under 3, behaved very well, minus a spilled cup of coffee at the very end. We were very disappointed with this visit. It's very rare that we get to go out as a group, and this experience has definitely made us reconsider where we will go in the future. read more

We were disappointed. The menu was impressive but didn't live up to the hype. Lunch items were better than breakfast. Eggs were dry. Omelets were sad. Steak seasoning was overkill and salty. Pancakes were crunchy. Brie appetizer and potatoes were phenomenal. Cinnamon roll was wonderful. Hamburger was salty. Biscuits and gravy was good and so were the sausage patties. Our server was Nina. Our check totalled 101.93 before tip for 6 ppl two were children. Service was bad. Very bad. We waited an hour and 10 minutes to be seated, but we liked the no wait ap. 15 for drinks another 15 for appetizers and about another 30 to 40 for food. Had to wave server down for drink refills after 45 minutes. Got there at 10:50 left at 1:30 and we didn't sit around and talk after we ate. I wouldn't go back. I came here for breakfast this morning. The location is great, it's right on the river. I ordered the steel cut oatmeal and turkey sausage. They were both amazing! The oatmeal had fresh strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries along with brown sugar. I am very picky about my oatmeal and I have to say this was some of the best oatmeal I've had. I cannot recommend eating here. Just so so quality, very few options especially for kids, and not inexpensive. I ordered the kale and salmon salad. The server came to me 10 minutes after ordering to inform me they were out of kale and offered to discount it if I would take spinach instead. I wanted to change to a chicken caesar salad, but she said the salmon was already cooked. Ended up with salmon caeser salad and a 2.50$ discount. Not impressed. Good salmon. Weak salad. We were looking for a good restaurant for breakfast with both traditional as well as more creative options, and we found it! The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Huevos Rancheros and enjoyed every last bit of it. I also tried some of my husband's biscuits and gravy, my son's cinnamon bread French toast, and my other son's pancakes, and EVERYTHING was OUTSTANDING!!! Prices were a little bit higher (not outrageous) than an average breakfast restaurant, but this place was by no means typical. Although the restaurant was very crowded, service was great, and we didn't have to wait a long time to be served. This will definitely be our go-to restaurant for breakfast any time we're in Tuscaloosa!!! And we'll certainly try lunch next time, too! read more

This is one of the best brunch places in town! They have a lot of different options and all are guaranteed to please. My favorite is the sausage gravy and biscuits, their sausage is very well seasoned and tastes amazing. Also, they have a great, inexpensive mimosa! I ate here on a Friday morning around 10 with a friend. I was so excited to try it out, since I haven't had the opportunity since they opened. My friend had eaten there one other time, and was excited to try something new. I am a server at restaurant here in town, and judge things pretty fairly because of my experiences. The hostess, very kindly, told us there was 10-15 minute wait, but we could sit at the bar if we wanted to sit immediately, so we did. The bartender was very sweet, got our coffee and our orders quickly, and our food did not take long to arrive. My friend ordered the Sweet Potato Pancake with eggs and bacon, and I had the Crabcakes Cavallo, and we split them, wanting to try sweet and savory. The Sweet Potato Pancake was very yummy, with an orange maple syrup, cinnamon pecans, and whipped cream. It had a slight spicy taste that gave it wonderful flavor. The Crabcakes Cavallo, on the other hand was bland, at best. The crabcakes had no flavor whatsoever, and a few shells, which isn't really an issue for me. The hollandaise sauce was unnecessary because there was absolutely no taste to it. I never salt my food, and I had to for my friend and I to even taste anything at all. The best part of my meal was the home fries, and I can make those at home. I will probably go back because of the lovely view, friendly staff, and promising options, but I will not order this again. I am hands down the hardest to please in a restaurant due to the fact I've been in the industry for 15 years. But from the moment we walked into another broken egg in tuscaloosa al we were greeted with a lovely hostess, followed by one of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure of being served by, and a fun relaxing atmosphere. Since this was our first time, my partner and I got a little bit of everything. Alisha made this experience amazing. Yes the food was incredible, couldn't find anything wrong with it. But nothing can ruin good food like bad service. Even if the food was terrible, Alisha would have made up for it, but that's not the case at all. Cudo's to the great chefs and sous chefs in the back, the hiring manager does their job well as I watched every server do their thing( I critic everything ). They stayed busy, and professional.
