The waiter and girl she was training were both really friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the Chilaquiles and my guest ordered an omelet. We both enjoyed our food. I especially liked the side I got which was black beans with goat cheese sprinkled on top. It had amazing flavor and the chilaquiles had just the right about the kick. This place wasn't what I expected. From their images online I was hoping for the best and some delicious food. They were very busy which I expected on a Sunday so I did use the Yelp app to reserve a spot in line which was awesome and they sat us down almost immediately. My server seemed very unknowledgeable about the menu and what it offered. I asked if they did any flavored iced coffees and she said she wasn't sure and she'd check. She just brought me a very iced down coffee with little flavor that I wasn't thrilled about. Gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's new and that's fine. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my mom had an omelet. The food came and while it looked amazing the taste just wasn't.. my eggs were cold and the flavors were just okay. My mom said her omelet seemed very over done and wasn't too happy either. My favorite part was the complimentary pancake beignets. Those were soft, hot and yummy but we didn't get them until after paying for our bill. While I didn't enjoy this first time experience, I do think it was just a busy day and maybe I didn't order the best they had to offer. Came here on a Sunday at 1015 and only waited 10 mins. Not bad considering that Purdue university school year is over too at this point in June. The food was fine but the service killed it all. The waitress was not friendly in a rush forgot part of our order and never brought coffee refills. Let me define friendly: introducing herself, a smile, tone of voice that indicates she enjoys her job, and simple courtesies like a greeting and thanking at the end of a meal. The Bloody Mary pitcher had ZERO garnishments, completely opposite to the advertisement and $32.00 you spend on it. It was bland and no care went into it, just vodka and some mix. The creole was out at 11am....and for some reason they couldn't just make the grit cakes and serve it. They had no shrimp either. The grits had this huge chunk of grits in it and we had to send that back as well. Overall this place has declined so terribly in the four years we've been living here. An absolute delight when it comes to breakfast and brunch classics. I went here for the first time this morning, and the interior instantly charmed me, with its red walls and modern decour, and the waitresses were the most friendly I have ever come across anywhere so far. I was asked if I had ever been there before, strangely, but I was soon enlightened that new customers got a free half-order of their mini-beignets, which further reinforced my good first impression. Beignets are hard to find anywhere outside of the south, and while their mini ones didn't quite stack up to a full-sized beignet, they were delicious nonetheless (though hard to eat neatly with a beard and black clothing, on account of the powdered sugar). It was hard choosing what I wanted from their posh and delectable-sounding items, like bananas foster pancakes, chocolate-ganache stuffed waffles, sweet potato waffle, lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes, cinnamon roll french toast, lobster and brie omelette, chicken and waffles -- on and on. I decided to be adventurous with the unique "crab cake benedict," though, described as jumbo crab cakes served on an English muffin, topped with poached eggs, an "Andouille-infused" hollandaise sauce, and served with a side of potatos or grits. I don't often associate fish (except for smoked salmon) with breakfast, and crab cakes are always a risky business anyways (you can either be served a very good one, or else one that gives you the runs six hours later because of food poisoning). Fortunately, there was no fishy business -- the crab cake was tender and went surprisingly well with the poached egg and hollandaise sauce (which had actual Andouille sausage in it, far from just being "infused"). The potatoes were acceptable -- a little dry, and my only gripe was that there was ~$1.30 charge extra for them putting cheese and bacon bits on them, which was not made known to me when it was offered while ordering. I'd say you should probably go for the grits instead. At any rate, I will certainly be returning, and hopefully I will have just as excellent an experience as I explore their other options. read more

I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict which was really good. It comes with a side of potatoes or fruits. For drinks I've had a couple of their cocktails and their espresso which are all good but not amazing. I think the portions are pretty big and well priced. The servers are all very nice. Prices are (as other reviewers noticed) annoyingly high for the common and budget friendly of farm bird creations. We managed to overlook the easy $15 spent on an entree taking a liking to the extra fancy options like lobster & brie, crawfish, and chorizo with hollandaise sauce spread in many places. I'll probably get back once or twice a year when my wallet allows; the Lafayette area hosts many wonderful spots chuck full of excellent flavors and value, Town & Gown, Bru Burger, and Greyhouse give some of the best all round menus at better prices, emphasis on Greyhouse's crepes. Seriously, it's adorable and (more importantly) is at a REALLY CONVENIENT LOCATION. The food definitely has a Southwestern or Southern feel to it, and more than a little reminded me of brunch places in SoCal. This probably partially has to do with the fact they actually have seafood on their brunch menus, not a thing I see very much with other local brunch places. There's also a feel that it's a bit more meant for adults/college students than it is for kids. What's offered kinda hints at it being meant for a sophisticated kind of brunch or lunch. I go there on three kinds of occasions/situations. First is when I need a kind of very professional , but warm restaurant. Meaning, this is a great place to take someone out for a meal like an adviser, a professor, an out-of-town speaker, etc. Second kind of occasion is when I have a class at EE or Armstrong and I'm about ready to pass the fuck out but know I need to eat something. So when I'm in a true "fuck-it" mood and decide I'm going to treat myself for the next two hours before I need to go to my next class, I go here rather than the food stall in Armstrong. I get the Steak Benedict or the Chicken and Waffles and munch on things until I feel human again. Third type is just when I'm going out with friends and family. This is a GREAT place to go out with girl friends. Talk, hang out, laugh, drink mimosas or have more coffee (the coffee cups are so cute). It's trendy without being hipster, hearty and tasty food, and a warm, stylish ambiance. Oh, and your mom will probably love it. FOR PEOPLE WHOSE MOMS WILL BE VISITING CAMPUS ON MOTHER'S DAY, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. But if you decide on that, remember to make reservations really fucking early. You're going to be competing for seats with (other) graduating students who also want to take their parents out. Service is great and so many of the waiters/waitresses have a good sense for when to and not to interact with a person. Plenty of variety, and I just love their potato sides. They're so crispy ad well seasoned. Portions are pretty big and there was definitely thought process going into the flavor profiles of different items. Also, there's bar and a game on if you want, or just order from the bar if you want to get drunk in the morning (no judgement, we've all been there and it doesn't feel all that different from sleep deprivation). I encourage everyone to try this place out at least once while you're at Purdue, as it has the kind of flavor that everyone would like. Another Broken Egg reminds me of a more upscale Bob Evans or Denny's. The menu has traditional breakfast foods as well as fun twists on classics. As an alum and now resident of Lafayette, I am super happy to have this addition to the neighborhood. When I was a student there wasn't much built up around Mackey, so I'm happy to see this change! They were the best grits I've ever eaten, hands down! My husband and I were in the mood for morning booze, so he went for the mimosa. I went for the decadent option, their Spiked Nutella Iced Latte. It had coffee, Nutella, and RumChata poured over ice with whipped cream, bacon strip, and a freshly made beignet on top. Is it over the top, yes, but it was so worth it! Our daughter got the Little Rooster, which had scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, and an English muffin. My husband ordered the Traditional-which was as it sounds. Eggs, red skin potatoes, bacon, and an English muffin. I splurged for their Flan stuffed French toast, served with eggs and bacon. It was super tasty, but the eggs aren't necessary in the meal. They got order wrong we sat another 20 minutes and waited for guest to ear her food was hot. They then said their would be no charge for guest their was, lol they took off the order we did not order they got wrong in first place (did they think we should have been charged for an order that was not placed and was not eaten lol. Ordered a black coffee and asked for non dairy milk and was given coconut cream.... um how does a restaurant in this age still not carry non dairy milk? I don't understand if these waitresses can't hear or what but coconut cream is not milk and no eggs does not mean eggs. Busiest brunch place on campus! Really good breakfast food, pretty good variety, and ok customer service. I had a pretty bad experience last time I was there. I went with 2 other friends and we all got omelette dishes assuming eggs don't take that long to cook. We were in a rush between classes and allotted 2 hours to spend here. It took almost 45 minutes for our food to come out (after putting in our order) and our food was only luke-warm borderline cold. Our waitress failed to check in on us or reassure us when our food was coming, so we were pretty upset. All was redeemed at the end of our meal, our waitress explained everything and gave us free coupons for beignets. All is good in the world :) I've tried the eggs Benedict, variety of omelette and chilaquiles. Everything was delicious, especially with a mimosa on the side.
