She is a great listener, was receptive to what I expressed I wanted, and we worked together to come up with a beautiful plan for balayage (first time I've ever done anything beyond a single color to my hair). She took care of my color and cut in exactly 3 hours, which was 2 hours shorter than the original quoted time. Such a relief!! Those were my exact words. No raised voices, just a straight forward expression of displeasure. We could not wait and had to find another stylist elsewhere to cut our hair because we were going out of town for an event. Even though she mismanaged her time, she is a great stylist and we made another important appointment for 8 weeks later prior to an international trip. When we didn't receive an appointment reminder 2 days prior, I called the salon and was told we didn't have one but they booked another one for us. They promised to look into what happened and let us know. The MANAGER of the salon called the next day and said the stylist is uncomfortable providing service to us due to the incident 8 weeks prior, and it is "best we part ways at this point." Yes, you read that correctly! We were dismissed because the stylist ran almost 1 hour late, did not call us to cancel or move us, and we expressed displeasure. To add insult, they canceled our next appointment without calling us! That is why we didn't receive a reminder. I wonder if the owner, JoAnn Power, knows about this situation. We were not even offered another stylist in the Salon since our stylist of 2 years suddenly is uncomfortable with us after she mismanaged her time.

She applied a toner to the remainder of the hair and I was very pleased with the results. My hair, which was originally brown with caramel balayage, had turned brassy and orange. She was very friendly and it made me feel valued and welcomed. She told me that my stylist wasn't there yet, but would be with me as soon as she arrived. My stylist, Sarah, arrived a few moments later and warmly greeted me. I followed her back to her station, and we talked a little bit about what I was looking for. I showed her a photo I found on Pinterest, and she said she would be able to help me achieve the hairstyle I was looking for. I went in with hair a little longer than my shoulders, and left with a very cute pixie haircut! Sarah did a great job balancing conversation with efficiency in her service. I enjoyed how quickly yet thoroughly she was able to cut my hair. I received a wash, and she put curl cream in my hair when she was done. I appreciate the extra attention to detail she gave to my hair. I was very nervous going in, but I appreciate that she didn't hesitate to give me what I wanted. I had a very upsetting experience at this salon as a first-time client. When I arrived, I had my two-year-old with me in a stroller. She was calm, quiet, and watching a movie completely unbothering anyone. The salon itself was nearly empty, with only one other client present. Instead of being welcomed, I was immediately met with a very cold and judgmental attitude from the front desk. I was looked up and down, along with my stroller, and told in a very rude and inflexible manner that children were not allowed and that I would either need to leave or reschedule. As a mother, it is not always easy to find time for self-care, and I made the effort to come in for this appointment. The lack of empathy or basic courtesy was honestly shocking. There was zero attempt to accommodate, problem-solve, or even speak kindly. To make matters worse, I was charged $75 (50% of the service) simply for having to leave despite the fact that the situation could have been handled with basic human decency and flexibility. I do want to note that Desi, the hairstylist, did try to be kind while witnessing the way I was being treated, and I appreciate that. I understand this situation was not her fault. However, the overall customer service and experience are a direct reflection of the business she represents. This was the first time I've ever experienced something like this at a salon. I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and frankly, discriminated against for being a mother. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this salon especially to other moms. There are plenty of places that treat clients with respect, kindness, and understanding. This was not one of them.
