    Menu and where you order

We ordered the Checkmate Chai Latte and the Sonic Latte. The Checkmate Chai Latte has white chocolate and chocolate drizzle and topped with cold foam. The Sonic Latte has blueberry white mocha. It was fun sharing the drinks. We both enjoyed the Sonic Latte. It was very smooth and tasty. The Checkmate was way too sweet which took away from enjoying it. We took a risk ordering both and the Sonic was the home run. This cafe is very unique and a lot of fun. I think there are 4 jail cells that you can sit in to enjoy your food and drinks. This cafe has a friendly and fun vibe.

What a great spot for coffee! If you are in the area, you have to check it out! I am limiting my caffeine intake so went for some tea, it tasted great and I feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck! The Samoa cookie is the perfect amount of coconut and chocolate, my friend got a brownie and loved it. She also ordered the coffee special for October, I didn't try it, but it looked DELIGHTFUL. I would fully trust the special drink in the future. I did not realize that Pieces moved here also, but it makes sense since the back end of this building is really big. My friend and I got to sit in a jail cell, which would also be perfect if you had a large crowd, the booths would easily fit 6 on each side, maybe even 8 people on each side! They are so big!

I heard about this place months ago, but didn't get a chance to actually check them out until recently. They are located in a former jail and incorporate this into the theme of the shop, so it's got a lot of character. It's also in the same space as a board game place, so not only is there plenty to do, but there were also plenty of people when I got there on a Sunday late morning. Still, they were reasonably quick about getting through a substantial line, without letting the quality suffer. It's Soulard, so parking is an adventure, but if you're in the area, I'd recommend the place for the coffee as well as all the photo opportunities in their space. Great theming!

This old Jail now turned into a coffee shop is very clever. It was my first time here and while walking around there is a little area in the back where you can sit and enjoy your coffee in what is a cell. There are three of them and all have long tables, so it is great for larger groups too. As for the coffee they had interesting ones. I went with the one called The Wentworth iced Latte. It is a latte which you can get iced or hot with Honey and Cinnamon. It was very tasty. My two other friends had the dirty chai iced latte and the The Fitzgerald which is Espresso, turmeric and ginger spice mix, and vanilla. We all enjoyed our drinks and the atmosphere of this coffee shop. If you are visiting St. Louis this is a place that should be on your list. Even if you are not a coffee drinker just for the vibes of the place. Locals themselves love it too.

Popped in for a little pick me up and had heard so many fun things about the Antagonist Cafe inside a former police station. Really nice exterior and repurposed jail cells that serve as a more intimate seating area for larger groups. It was busy but we were able order and got our ice caramel latte and spinach and feta croissant. The croissant was beautiful and perfectly buttery and flaky. The latte was perfectly sweet.

This place is awesome! Gluten free and gluten filled options for delicious treats are available! Great drinks! Plenty of cool places to sit! Very nice staff! HIGHLY recommend coming here - even just to have a coffee in the vault. Super cool place.

I am so happy to finally have made it here! What an AWESOME place. From what used to be a police station to what is now a tasty coffee spot that brings the vibes. There's a new view each direction you look with awesome deco vibes and little nooks and crannies to take a seat in. I am a big fan of protagonist (their twin coffee spot on the north side of Soulard) so to no surprise I loved my latte. I love the intention that is behind this spot and I'm so excited to go, order a drink, and post up and get some work done. Definitely recommend going- you won't regret!

I saw photos of this new coffee shop posted on social media and the uniqueness of it definitely caught my eye! A coffee shop inside a bank!! This spot is like no other coffee shop I've ever seen before and by far beats all the others by design. The interiors are elaborately designed and you can tell that the owners took their time in creating a unique experience for their customers. There's several decorated vaults with booths inside, which contains board games and seating for about 6 people. The shop sells pastries and coffee/tea. I tried the Parmesan leek croissant which was delicious and had a flaky crust. I also tried the Wentworth Latte. I'm not a huge coffee drinker since I'm very particular about type of coffee that I drink, but I decided to try it since it sounded interesting, and to my surprise I loved the taste of the coffee, and I don't say that about all coffee.

Well repurposed old police station now cafe and board game businesses occupy this space. Got a Café au lait with a nice creamy foam on top. First time having one of those and it was pretty delicious straightup. Baristas were very welcoming and full of morning smiles, which always help to make mornings better! Also included: nice patio seating!

My coffee shop bucket list continues with Antagonist. I have no idea if it actually used to be a jail, but the jail cells are dope as hell. It is still new so it's super busy, but with patience you can find yourself a seat. I came and shared a table with some strangers. It seems all of the patrons were open to sharing the space give. How busy it is. The decor, vibe, and interior are immaculate. Super clean, well executed, and great design. Let's not forget the coffee. I had an amazing iced latte which has been my staple as of late. I am no coffee nerd but I know when one latte tastes better than another. This one was super well executed. This place is new, and the sister to Protagonist, but it will quickly climb the ranks of St. Louis staples adored by locals and visitors alike.

Service was quick and friendly. I came at 10 and it was steady and I easily found a table to sit at. People started coming around 11pm where it was a lot harder to find a place to sit. I came for the 'behind the bars' style seating (many photos on their Instagram if you want to check it out, I didn't want to get any strangers in my photo) but each cove was already filled. I'm assuming you have to get here early or a snag a spot quick, it seemed like a lot of folks were there to camp. My iced latte was just fine, I actually only drank half. I don't think I'll be back for the coffee, rather just a cool place to be. My friend said her pour over was ok too. Very small pastry selection. A water jug was out for you to get water if you wanted. Plenty of street parking. It's worth a shot if you're nearby!

Love the building and how the space was utilized! Came on a Sunday with a group of 5. It was so busy, I was concerned about seating but after we all ordered coffee and pastries, we found a table against the wall in one of the rooms with converted cells from when the building housed a jail. Prior to our drinks being ready, one of the groups was leaving a cell and we moved in. So cool, with the long bench seats and large table, decorated with old time game of Clue items and posters. Everyone enjoyed their coffees and pastry. I was boring and got a white mocha. I'll have to go again and be adventurous and go with the rosemary sage latte. They stayed steadily busy while we sat with our drinks. Great spot to sit and enjoy the cool vibe!

Matcha white chocolate latte and cortado
    Surya K.

Visited Antagonist Café STL on January 3rd and really enjoyed it. We had a matcha latte and a cortado, and both were excellent. Smooth, well balanced, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy good coffee. Would definitely come back.

    Bail me out please.

This was the closest spot on the way to the airbnb so this was the choice. I do like the name too... have you been naughty or nice? It seemed their main draw was whether you want 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 scoops. The scoops were huge and they seemed reasonably priced. I can't remember exactly but the prices were something like 1 scoop(5 dollars), 2 scoops (8 dollars), 3 (10 dollars), all the way up to 5 scoops (15 dollars). Definitely more reasonable the more scoops you order. Maybe the 5 scoops are for naughty people and naughty people deserve the multi-scoop discount too. Anyway, I went with 2 scoops (Biscoff and Midnight Pleasures(dark chocolate ice cream). I couldn't resist adding honey whipped cream and cherries. Got it all in a waffle bowl. Biscoff - Delicious ice cream. Midnight Pleasures - I love dark chocolate. I prefer it. Not sure how I feel about this ice cream flavor. It was very rich and almost tasted dry(which is odd since it's ice cream). It tasted fine but I doubt I'd go to this flavor again. Honey whipped cream - I'm not sure I've ever had honey whipped cream and now I crave it. It's very specific but when you get that surge of honey... drool. Cherries - Juicy and delicious. Perfect for my bowl. We wanted to go back before we left town but got busy and weren't able to. The standout is definitely that whipped cream. I think it's a must-add for any of their ice cream flavors.

I love to give black owned businesses a chance but more than likely I am always met with disappointment. You have to pay for your order over the phone, so naturally you would expect your food to be ready when you get there. That's not the case. No one was at the register for about 3mins, okay their busy. Get to the counter we have to wait an addtl 8mins for food. Okay their busy. I pay for a banana pudding that is priced online for 5$ I am charged 7$ didn't notice til I looked at my receipt on the way home. The prices need to be updated on all platforms!!! We finally get our food the "Saturday Special" it comes with a burger, cheese fries & 5 party wings. 1st thing I notice is that we don't have cheese on our fries. Goes back up to the register. She says "we're out of cheese" and that was it. She didn't offer to take the money off, a complementary item, nothing. I asked for a receipt. Come to find out adding sauce to your wings is an addt 1.50$ that we weren't made aware of. I had about 10 French fries on my plate. My burger was burnt and barely fit the size of my bun. I had a half slice of tomatoe and a slither of lettuce. We spent almost 100$ on maybe 30$ worth of food. My cousin was so displeased with the service she sold her plate to a man in the line that couldn't get food because they were" sold out" of everything an hour before they closed. They had no signage posted. Nothing posted on their instagram to informs customers ahead of time. I called today to see if they would reconcile the situation. After voicing all my concerns the manager asked me what she could do to which I replied , I'll take a refund or they can remake the food. She sounds like she was going to offer a refund but had to check with the owner because again we spent close to 100$ . She came back to the phone to say that they could remake the food next Saturday b/c they only have that special on that day and she would pin my receipt to make sure everyone was aware. In hindsight I would've preferred to have my money back b/c who's to say the same thing won't happen next week or worse after me leaving this review. I doubt I'll return. But this is a lesson learned. Also her excuse for everything is that they were short staffed lol, this crap is laughable at this point .

I was excited to finally try this place even though I was warned about the baklavas being too dry. Sadly that's true. I dint think they are made fresh. They lack syrupy. I understand they don't have much food traffic but cutting down on the types of baklava and freshly making them should solve that problem. Probably the second worst baklava I've had out here. I see why they make shakes though. Since they don't sell ans have leftover stock. We initially sat down to eat but it was so awkward that there's no music and so quiet. My husband said they don't vacuum between the chairs which were full of crumbs. We eventually got our food to go. The second issue is the food. We got a sucuk flatbread and ans egg pide. This is not a pide, it's just pizza bread. Cheese is mozzarella, should have been beyaz cheese. Middle eastern cuisine doesn't use this cheese. My egg was raw and just throw in a corner. Could have saved myself money by just getting domino's, at least my food would be cooked. If you want quality, try Balkan treat box, Aya Sofia or Garbanzo. I would also like to state that there is one employee that works front and back. I didn't see him washing his hands once going back into the kitchen to handle my food. Seems like there a big hygiene issue
