After the new fan was installed, the unit still would not start up and cool. Brad quickly diagnosed that the unit was not receiving 240 volt power, checked the nearby breaker on the wall, and informed me that the breaker was failing. After flipping the breaker a few times, the unit came on and cooled. I will replace the failing breaker myself later today as electrical work is not part a fan motor replacement job.

Luckily, I found McConahy Mechanical several years ago and they have been outstanding. Every time the home warranty company would say the units weren't repairable, I'd call McConahy and they'd come out within a day and fix the unit for a very reasonable charge. I eventually dropped our home warranty coverage, since it was clear their contractors either weren't competent or weren't honest, or some of both. We finally decided to replace both units this year. The only company I called was McConahy Mechanical, since I trust them implicitly based on all my prior interactions with them. The quotes they gave me were reasonable, Chris McConahy called me to cover the differences between the quotes and answer all my questions, and they scheduled the work within two weeks. The new units were installed over two days, and they are fantastic! As always, the crew from McConahy showed up exactly on time, they were friendly, polite, and professional, the work was done in the time frame they'd quoted, there were no "surprise charges", and they cleaned up meticulously when they were finished. Chris called me over the weekend just to make sure everything about the project had gone smoothly and to make sure we are pleased. Of all the many contractors we've dealt with over the past nearly forty years, I would put McConahy Mechanical at the very top of the list in terms of integrity and professionalism.
