My daughter's made a confirmed dinner reservation well in advance to celebrate my wife's birthday. Out of the blue, they send a cancellation saying that they are canceling the reservation as they now have a big group! Kinda sucks!!! read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday, service was fast and pleasant. We asked if we could move to a different table and they quickly accommodated us. Ordered the Charred Edamame and Miso Mac Daddy as well as the Chicken and Waffles V2.0 and the JFC Chicken and Biscuits. Charred Edamame - Great! Smokey and salty. The perfect appetizer that gets you ready to eat without filling you up too much. Miso Mac Daddy - Amazing! A flavor explosion and definitely worth trying! Chicken and Waffles V2.0 - My wife loves Hong Kong style waffles so this was a pleasant surprise for her. The flavor was good and the textures paired nicely together. It was mildly spicy so be aware! JFC Chicken and Biscuits - A little bit of a disappointment. Flavors were good but honestly just felt like it was a little too heavy. The biscuit didn't hold up well and the whole plate became a bowl of mush after a while. Maybe I didn't eat it fast enough but probably won't order this again. Overall good experience. It's nice to kinda just walk your food coma off after. You'll understand what I mean when you dine-in. II. SERVICE Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. Also attentive with water refills and timeliness with food/checks. III. QUALITY Probably had my favorite cocktail, ever: Lychee Lowdown. It's tangy, sweet, and gingery. Good vibe and good location to be in Austin. The yummy fries were really good with the variety of aoli and truffle yuzu. The brisket burger was flavored well and moist with bun being soft. I would describe anthem as bar food with a twist. It's going to be a bit heavier fare with its gastro pub theme but three ingredients seem to be higher quality than your normal bar foods. I liked my Hilo sandwich. My wife was not as crazy about her salmon. read more

On a friday night what's better than to hit up Rainey Street and get some yummy food?! Tbh, we weren't expecting to go here first but the place we were going to was all full so we landed here - and SO glad we did. We ended up calling on the way and thankfully there was a seat open that the guy in the front ended up reserving for us. It was so KIND - thank you! Once seated I loved the interior of the restaurant and it was super cool to peruse through the menu - there was so much yummy things! I ended up trying: * shishito peppers queso - ever since being in Austin I loveee me some queso and so this was a must have. The chips came warm and crispy and were the perfect pair with the warm cheesy queso! * kung pao chicken - this dish was cripsy chicken and tbh loved every bite. I especially thought the sauce was ON point! * Hapa Chicken Sandwich - this also came with furikake fries (a side) which was awesome and crispy goodness! The sandwich itself was flavorful and loved that the chicken was crispy and juicy at the same time. The sauces all went well together. *Sambal fried okra - I wish the sauce here was more spread out and used in the okra coating - but I still enjoyed the flavor and the texture. * Roasted cauliflower - the green dressing made this worth it! * I also ordered a drink (cant remmeber the name) but it had a mix of the blood orange margarita in it and this was bomb. Grabbed a quick lunch at anthem- tried the cold asian noodle salad with grilled chicken. Service was good, and the salad was good too- but needed a bit more of a flavor kick. Nice restaurant pretty busy on Friday night had a 25 min wait, ambiance really cool and modern. Convenient parking across the street but pretty pricy per hour, paid 35 for 3 hour parking. We walked around the area a bit near a lot of bars, breweries, and food trucks. Cool little pocket for the tourists coming out of the hotels I think. Ordered the salmon and shrimp and they looked great but I think pretty overpriced for the quality. Like meh Service was wonderful though. Would just come here for cocktails and small plates if I had a redo. Saw a bachelorette group and think it's a great space for a big party like that with cute ambiance. I had heard wonderful things about this place but was very let down. The restaurant was half full and we were told there was a 20 minute wait, which is odd but totally fine, and we were told we'd still have to wait even if we wanted to sit at the (completely empty) bar. The hostess was very kind and welcoming. Our server was friendly and attentive at first but never refilled our water glasses and the food was cold. The guacamole was average, but the brisket Rangoon and Mac and cheese balls were good despite being room temperature. It took us 30 minutes (!!!) to get our check after we initially asked for it. The restaurant was not busy. We had to flag down another server to pay...and this was after attempting to flag down our own server and other servers and being outright ignored. They do not validate parking for the attached garage, and the 30 minute wait for the check added another $10 to my parking price...not pleased. It seems like a fun place for groups before a night out on Rainey, but it could use some improvements. read more

My husband and I were in town for one night and did a quick search on yelp for dinner. We very happy with our experience at Anthem. Our server Martin was exceptional. He made great suggestions and we loved a couple of the sauces so much he brought us some to take home. We had the brisket Rangoon which we recommend. We shared the chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. The fries were so good and aioli was amazing! We had the bread pudding for dessert which was also very good. read more

Gregory is the best server. He took care of us with a free appetizer + mimosa for my birthday. He gave us a Miso Mac Daddy for the appetizer and it was a delicious deep-fried, takoyaki-style macaroni. For our entrees, we ordered the chicken and waffles + brisket tacos for brunch. My best friend and I enjoyed the meal very much. The brisket tacos were excellent, especially the guacamole. :D My friend loved her chicken and waffles... talk about a huge portion. Came here for a solo late lunch on a Saturday. Really cute decor , but kind of small inside. FYI, They also have an outdoor patio. Anthem was the perfect place for me to sit in the corner and get some work done while people watching through the window. All of the drinks on their menu sounded good, I ordered the frozen banana daiquiri. Great choice for a slow drinker. For my meal I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Hawaiian Angus Burger - 5/10 - bread was soggy, patty was basic, effort with pineapple but didn't pack any punch paired with tomato and lettuce. 4. Boarder salad with tofu - it was ok. The liquid smoke the tofu was soaked in was over powering and made me not want to continue eating the salad. The salad itself was heavy with the romaine and spinach. We went for lunch and had the Queso loco with shishito pepper queso, five spice brisket on top and a ginger & yuzu guacamole. The guac was so bright and tasty. One was a toucan shaped one and we saw someone get their drink in a chinese take-out style container! We ordered fried okra and roasted cauliflower, both of which were really good. Such a fun place! I took my high school seniors here and they loved it! There was something for everyone, my vegetarian, pescatarian and fussy teens. They loved the mocktails served with umbrellas in pretty vintage like glasses. I took photos of my student's salmon which he enjoyed. We all loved the Brisket Rangoons and the Miso Mac balls. The Buff Cauliflower was super yummy. The students all loved the fries-hard to get teens to all agree on something and they were unanimous in their fry love. My chicken sandwich was crunchy and juicy inside. I chose the cucumber salad and beans as a side. I love when cucumber salad is served sliced very thin, with rice vinegar and not overly sweet. This was perfectly balanced. Our server was great-we loved his super deep voice-he could be an announcer for our conferences. it's a rare occurrence for me to rate a restaurant in austin 5 stars but my experience this past Monday definitely deserves it. my friend and i stopped here on am wanting some small bites and good drinks. We sat at the bar so we could be close to the tv. The bartender, Katie took care of us all night and she's a big r son behind the five star rating . as two ladies who hate making decisions, Katie recommended everything we had . Some of the favorites I can remember are : the esmx margarita (tequila & sake; not too sweet and strong ), the mai tai, the small burger and loaded fries ).
