The service was just as quick and efficient as the food came out! The food is very flavorful and zesty! A cute little indoor vibe as well. Only thing I didn't like was that more than half the menu is fried options, was expecting more clean/raw options. Still really good!

Came here for an impromptu happy hour Friday afternoon and discovered such an amazing happy hour menu! The happy hour drinks were so yummy. The standouts were definitely the frozen cocktails cause it's hot as hell here in the summer time. The host was kind enough to let us sit inside with my well behaved pup cause it was supposed to rain. He came by to offer my pup much needed pets and attention. Originally we just wanted the drinks but then we decided to get food as well since it's also on the happy hour menu. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the brisket Rangoon. I highly recommend stopping by for their daily happy hour when your schedule allows.

Came here for date night, and although the restaraunt theme is a bit confusing, the food was yummy and we will be coming back! The service was good, it was just us two in there at the time for dinner as well. There seems to be a bar connected also in their name, which was busy! Ambiance and decor is fantastic. We really wanted to love this place. The hostess mentioned they were a bit understaffed, which we appreciated the heads up. We were very excited for our food based on reviews and menu descriptions but unfortunately, everything we ordered was very underwhelming. We ordered the Hawaiian ceviche (not sure what made this Hawaiian..3/5), brisket rangoons (was very odd, ingredients didn't seem to go well together 1/5), and honey sriracha popcorn chicken (best of the 3, but nothing to write home about 4/5). Google and Yelp labeled this place as 'Asian fusion', but wondering if other items would be better.

First time at Anthem, did not disappoint!! We went on a Sunday, which had ALL DAY happy hour! Score! The menu for happy hour did not skimp out either. We got the salmon poke bowl, charred edamame, shrimp ceviche, and itchy salmon. The itchy salmon, just order it. You may need two or three servings though. It's bite size, but oh so good! The shrimp ceviche was a little bit spicier than anticipated, so beware. We got the banana daiquiri and Magnum PI for drinks, and the banana flavor wasn't too heavy which I was worried about. Both yummy & refreshing. Adding this place to my happy hour list, you should too!

First of all, this place deceptively large! The interior is nicely decorated and the booths are cool. The bar seats have back, which is always nice. The service was EXCELLENT. My wife and I planned to share two plates because we like trying multiple items when we go out. This may be the first time I've ate at a restaurant where they took it upon themselves to actually split the food and plate both dishes separately. Now THAT'S service. We had the Hapa Hot Chicken and the Sesame Seared Salmon. The chicken was excellent. It came with a nice dipping aoli for the sweet potato fries. Lots of good flavors in that sandwich. We asked for salmon to be cooked medium and it was very tender. I think the noodles were too salty from too much soy sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by Anthem and would stop by again!

What a delicious way to end our trip for ACL (Austin City Limits music festival)! I've been eyeing this Asian-fusion restaurant ever since we stayed around Rainey, and finally got a chance to see how it is. The decor alone reminds me of a mix of Mid-century Modern and Hawaiian/Polynesian. It's bright, cozy, and colorful, just like the food. I started with the popular Anthem Smashed Burger and an upgraded side of Furikake Fries. The Burger is quite good, if not a bit dry at first until you get a couple ore bites in and taste the salt & pepper aioli. On the hand, it's nice to have a crunchy, savory burger that's not drenched in sauce and you can actually enjoy the burger patty itself. The Furikake Fries are the star of the show for me, however. They're perfectly fried and seasoned with salt, sesame seed, and the very tasty furikake (Japanese seaweed). It is so delicious by itself, as well as with the Sriracha Ketchup! Sadly, they were having a bit of an issue with their oven so I won't be able to try the Upside Down Pineapple Bread Pudding, but they took care of me with the Hong Kong Waffle with Vanilla ice cream. There is a lot of components here with the green tea matcha bubble waffle sundae (I chose Vanilla ice cream), topped with Oreo cookie crumbles, Mochi candies, the iconic Pocky Japanese chocolate sticks, and sea salt caramel drizzle. If you have a sweet tooth, this dessert will definitely satisfy your craving!

I happened to stumble upon Anthem by accident when looking for a place to eat for lunch on a Sunday afternoon in downtown Austin. Seating was ample and there wasn't much of a crowd at the time I went, but it seems like it would be a more happening spot on a Friday or Saturday night with it being so close to Sixth Street. For my entrée, I had the beetroot burger which went unpictured, but it was absolutely delicious! I am always appreciative of restaurants that take the initiative to offer substantial vegetarian-friendly options. What I found most intriguing was the Pacific Islander-inspired decor, but also an interesting bulletin in the ladies room. It said that any woman who felt like they were in an uncomfortable situation could ask for an "umbrella cocktail", which notifies the staff that the woman who requested it needs help getting out of an uncomfortable situation. I guess this goes back to being a prime spot for dates or partying near Sixth Street.

The restaurant does not validate parking so expect to spend at least $40 if you park in the garage next door for a 2 hour dinner. Our server was very attentive and gave us good recommendations. We ordered a few things to share and our own entrees. Cauliflower was really good, not too saucy and cooked well. Shrimp ceviche was mediocre. It wasn't limey and overall lacked sauce. It also came with a ridiculous amount of chips for such a small bowl. Two girls got the noodles but mentioned they thought it would have a bed of lettuce but it was actually just shredded lettuce mixed in. I got the smash burger with sweet potato fries. Not the most amazing in ATX but it does the job. I also got a lychee lowdown. It had the lychee flavor and was refreshing. Overall, I would come again but I think only for sharables, do a happy hour with friends, and leave entrees out.

As the first time visitor at Austin, I am living nearby Anthem and was walking on the street to looking for food to snack on. When I was passing by the place and the inner decorative was very inviting, so I decided to give it a try. The staff are all friendly and did recommend some dishes to me. Turned out that Brisket rangoons is my favorite and the Hawaiian shrimp ceviche was a big amount and I would not finish it on my own. I ordered Caribbean Cowboy as drink, it was standard, nothing too much surprising. Overall, I would still come back for the staff, environment and location too. I give a recommendation

Summary is that We go to Anthem for their Sake shots. This is a place right at the end of Rainy street, very chic ambience inside, and a nice patio to sit out, which was necessary for us because of Mylo. They have a damn good happy hour that goes from 12-7 weekdays and has Sake shots in it. The itchy salmon is amazing and the tofu appetizer was very good too. The Chicken and Waffle main course is a different take on the dish and it might work for some. The presentation is fancy and I liked it but the waffle shape was different than conventional waffle and does not have slot to put syrup in which did not work for me. I will be back for the Sake shots and Anuya will get the IPA at the stay put brewery on the other end of Rainey st because she did not care for the shots much.

Rating: 4.4/5 [dine in] Anthem's Happy Hour is one of the best in Austin. We come here often for their extensive happy hour menu, and it never disappoints. They recently extended their HH hours--now available Monday to Friday from 12-7 PM and all day Sunday. Service can be slow though so expect to wait a bit for your server. Lychee Lowdown ($8 HH): Really good - sweet and strong. EXSW Margarita ($8 HH): Our second go to drink. Magnum P.I. ($8 HH): Tastes a bit off; didn't get much pineapple rum flavor. Peach Fuzzy ($8 HH): Just okay - pretty basic. Frozen Blood Orange Margarita ($8 HH): Better than I expecte, and a great choice for a hot day. Thai Hippie Tofu ($8 HH): Delicious! Crispy, flavorful, and comes with a refreshing cucumber salad. Char-Buff Cauliflower ($12 HH): The tempura cauliflower is amazing--always a must-order appetizer. Crispy and tasty, especially with the Thai Green goddess dressing. JFC Popcorn Chicken ($12 HH): Comes in kung pao or honey Sriracha flavors. My husband got kung pao and asked for honey Sriracha on the side. The chicken is average, but the sauces are what really make it. Miso Mac Daddy ($10 HH): Surprisingly impressive. These mac & cheese balls taste similar to takoyaki--unique and enjoyable. Brisket Rangoons ($9 HH): Brisket was dry, and I couldn't really taste the five-spice--likely overpowered by the cheese. Yummy Fries ($12 HH): One of our favorites! The crispy sweet potato waffle fries are super addicting and full of flavor. Hawaiian Shrimp Ceviche ($14 HH): I don't usually go for ceviche, but this one was tasty and paired well with the tortilla chips. Salmon Poke ($13 HH): The first time we ordered it, the salmon wasn't fresh, but it was better the second time. The nori crisps were indeed crispy and pairs nicely with the poke. Itchy Salmon ($6 HH): Two pieces of baked Atlantic salmon on top of spicy crab mix, topped with Serrano, cilantro, and ponzu. These were just okay and didn't look appetizing either. Hilo Hawaiian Sandwich ($19) + Roasted Cauliflower ($2): Chopped brisket on a King's Hawaiian sweet bun with sesame slaw, French-fried onions, garlic dill pickle chips, kimchi aioli, pickled okra, and your choice of side. It sounded better than it tasted. The brisket was really dry. We thought the cauliflower side would be the same as the Char-Buff Cauliflower, but it wasn't. These were actually charred cauliflower--not tempura.

One of many cute and cool spots to hit up on Rainey St. when you're down in Austin, TX. The interior is dope and gives off a certain aesthetic and vibe that you wouldn't quite find exactly anywhere else than Anthem. Drink menus are fun and creative -and- pretty good! Service is great and overall atmosphere is great place to bring friends and/or family to. Went with a group of coworkers for lunch and with my experience, I had the Hapa Chicken Sandwich and it was delish. I ended up getting a stomachache a couple hours afterwards though. I also had the Fuzzy Bomb which was pretty good. Regardless, it was a good experience. 8/10 read more

I felt great about my choice to dine here on a Thursday night, but I would have felt a little bummed if this has been my weekend "splurge" meal. Really cool interiors with a warm inviting vibe! It was a bit of a mess to get us seated - the hostess seemed overwhelmed even though the restaurant was only at 30% capacity. But once we got a table and server assigned, everything ran more smoothly. The margaritas were good but the queso was the star of the show! They do a happy hour so check the timings! They also have outside patio seating and fun for people watching on Rainey. read more

Just what Rainey St. needed! After living on Rainey for a year and now heading back there at least once a month, I can say that I have been to every restaurant/food establishment they have to offer. Anthem offers everything that was missing on Rainey, from great good, to perfect atmosphere, to even better happy hours. We came in on a Tuesday evening for happy hour and tried pretty much every app they had on the menu. I can easily say that none of them were bad, but some were superb. Our favorite was definitely the brisket ragoons followed by the miso mac and cheese balls. They had so much flavor in such a small bite but the serving size can easily be shared. They also have a massive beer list which was a pleasant surprise. I can definitely say that I will be back to try more of the menu! read more

This was the last spot that my friend and I hit while out on Rainey St. Such a fun and chill way to end the evening. The Anthem is a mix of an upscale bar and restaurant with a laid back and tropical themed patio. As soon as you walk in your eyes are captivated by the upscale decor, wrap around bar, and rich lightning. It is just a beautiful place. My friend and I ended up sitting out on their patio that had several small tables. Near the tables were hanging and swinging chairs that were super comfortable and just overall added to the tropical and fun feel of the restaurant. Our waiter was super friendly and suggested several drinks. I got their house made Moscow Mule that was pineapple rum based, which made it a hint of sweetness and made it so nice to sip and enjoy. To go with our drinks we munched on their amazing guacamole and chips. There was no rush for us to leave the restaurant and we were able just to chill, talk, and enjoy our drinks. I definitely recommend Anthem for a cool, chilled, and relaxing night! read more

Holy moly this place is amazing! Super cool that there are multiple vegetarian and vegan options while still having meaty dishes. Even if you aren't veg - you've gotta try their fried tofu appetizer! It's unreal. Crunchy, chewy, and a perfect hint of spice from the sauce. For the meaty folks - don't skip the brisket rangoons! Creamy and smoky filling with a sweet and spicy sauce. I still dream about these rangoons. It is a little pricey but the quality of the food and service makes it perfectly justifiable for any budget. read more

Luv this spot. Other than the parking problem it's a great stop on Rainey street. Entrance host was very kind and seated us quickly even in a very busy shuffle of people. Sat down and had a cool view of the outside while enjoying AC. Our waiter was cool and explained some of the hot items on the menu. His suggestions were great. The chicken and waffle was on point. Food was delicious and savory! Would definitely return! I went on a Sunday early afternoon so it was during brunch time... it was not busy. I say at the bar , enjoyed the ambiance as I waited for my food. Food came quickly! Only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is the food was cool by the time I was half way finished. We were able to take advantage of the cocktail and appetizer happy hour specials. Terrific cocktails and exceptional food. Service was typical Austin hipster but fortunately they weren't busy and our server was pulling double duty of tending bar/making drinks and waiting tables. This place was great! We were hopping around in Austin and were able to get a table on Thurs night after just a few minutes. The Nam Nom noodles were DELICIOUS. Loved this place! We visited during Covid and they were clean and efficient! The food was excellent! It is such a great blend of American Meets Asian! Yes, it's on Rainey street, but it's not at all crazy like you would expect. It's on the very end and family friendly! I would say its a great date night place or good for drinks and apps with friends! Must get the brisket rangoon! It's out of this world! This spot has a few good vegan options! But it's in a lively part of town I'm not really into lol. I had the noodle salad with tofu and loved the smoky flavor of the tofu. Also ordered the chips and guacamole which was good.. chips were good and I liked the lettuce on top, which was different at first but I liked the crunch haha. The sandwich was juicy and flavorful and the fries were crispy and seasoned well. I had a taste of my friend's shrimp (not pictured) and it somehow tasted like tap water plus no flavor so that is why I took off one star - the waitress raves about the shrimp but it turned out very mid. The staff at Anthem was fantastic about COVID-19 precautions when we went for dinner last weekend. The staff wore masks the entire time, and all customers were required to wear masks when entering the restaurant and walking around. Once food is served you can remove your masks. The food was fantastic! Drink we're delicious! We will definitely be coming back. Side note my friend lost her wallet here and the staff found and promptly return it. Visited Austin and stayed downtown in the Rainey street district. Once again used Yelp to find some good places to eat. While searching found this place. Wow! Super great find! The food was delicious! The service was great! And over all everything tasted pretty amazing. I had the chicken and waffles. This was a Tex Asian flair as they like to describe their cuisine. I have to say it was difficult but great tasting. The chicken was a like a hot Siracha sauce (Buffalo type) which had a good taste. A little on the spicy side but good. It paired very well with the homemade waffles which with the maple syrup was awesome. My guest had the brisket burger and that was delicious as well. If you are in the area and want some great and delicious and different, then this is definitely the place for you! read more

I don't typically write reviews, but Anthem is deserving of a 5 star. Our server, Katie was amazing! The food was amazing! I never looked at the menu and left it up to Katie to select everything. Came in for a late dinner the food options seemed exciting and was what I was looking for. The ambience here is cute- nice bar. Staff was friendly- but not very attentive. The water they gave us was nasty started the experience not great. Also we ordered a beer and it was completely flat and not what you would hope to receive from a bar. Given the area and how unique the menu is I gave 4 stars. I would say unique menu and ambience for area 5 food is a 3. Reasonable price for portion We ordered - tofu Asian salad- the salad didn't taste fresh- but tofu was amazing and we ended up eating it. Ordered the brisket breakfast tacos, was decent. JFChicken and biscuits was greay. I think it was a battered deep fried boneless chicken thigh with a Nashville hot style sauce. Biscuits weren't super heavy and the gravy paired well with the entire meal. It's sounds super heavy but wasn't. SXSW margarita was flavorful and the right balance of boozy and flavorful. Pretty good food, lackluster service as times. It's located on Rainey so the waiters are always dealing with tons of people. The food is great, the lychee cocktail is one of my favorites. I love that it's located on Rainey. I used to live on the street and frequented this location weekly. I highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a good bite to eat. Good spot for causal food/drinks on Rainey street. Parking may be difficult, depending on time of day. I'd recommend planning on arriving early to find street parking or at one of the nearby lots or garages. Happy hour is Monday - Friday 3-6:30 and all night Sunday (Drinks only). We mainly ordered off the happy hour menu for some more quick bites. The JFC popcorn chicken was similar to boneless wings, but smaller pieces. For the JFC chicken, there's the sweet and sour sauce or the honey sriracha; I don't think you can go wrong with either. The Yummy fries were with sweet potato waffle fries. Came here on a Friday afternoon for a cocktail, and went with the lychee one. It's cute how they have the crossbones image on their drinks menu to indicate with ones are very boozy (about 3 shots, per our server). Really enjoyed my drink - its flavor composition and presentation. The ambiance in the main room has a strong beachy vibe, with pics of hula dancers and surfboards nailed to the walls. I've been wanting to check out this Asian fusion restaurant for some time now...maybe it's those cute ass tiki drinks I see everyone posting! Most places don't typically live up to their hype but oh boy anthem sure does. Not only is the place super cute inside but the food, well the food I had is not only presented well but also has some great flavors! My best friend and I met up this past Sunday as an early birthday brunch, and considering it was 1 in the afternoon it wasn't too bad. Sunday's are typically lazy days on rainy around those times as people slowly trickle in to start day drinking. When I arrived there were only a couple tables with people "brunchin." After a quick glance of the menu we both decided to share the JFC chicken and biscuit as well as the Korean bao buns. Being partially Korean i was pretty thrilled with the flavor explosion in my mouth from each dish! I'll definitely be back to try more this year, also service was prompt and our server was super sweet. The reason for the 4 stars is that we were the only people in the restaurant. I can not give a review of the atmosphere. We got vegetarian food. Two of us got a burger and I got the noodle salad with tofu. I was told the burgers were very good and moist. (A lot of times it's hard to get a fake burger moist) the fries were seasoned well and were good, hot, and crisp. Roasted cauliflower had a flavorful sauce on them. They were not overcooked. My noodles were delicious. I did not like the texture of the tofu. The flavor was great but it was not firm tofu so when you bit into the chunk it was soft and mushy on the inside. That is a texture thing for me so not really on them. We all got water so no review on drinks however, for someone who is not a fan of dessert the pineapple cake and ice cream thing (sorry anthem I don't remember what it was called) was out of this world delicious. Our server was friendly, our order was correct and the whole place was clean. There is a bar area along with regular dining. A patio with fans and misters (looked very nice but it was July in Texas so we did not try it.) There was also a little area that kind of looked like a lounge area off of the bar. Great place to have after work get-together if you are already downtown. Vegetarian options: There are not a whole bunch of options but the ones they have look very good and the ones we got were delicious. Parking: The garage around the corner is mostly for the apartments above the restaurant so not a bunch of spots. They are for mid to small cars. Hard for trucks or SUVs. The price is not bad for downtown Austin. read more

Anthem was such a great find for a Friday lunch! The host and server were both incredibly friendly, and the vibe was relaxed without being too quiet - perfect for a mid-day visit. I sat at the bar to get a little work done, and I really appreciated that there were outlets right at the bar seating so I could charge my laptop. Jed, my server, was fantastic - knowledgeable, helpful, and every single one of his recommendations hit the mark. To start, I had the itchy salmon, which came with two pieces of sushi-style salmon and was incredibly fresh and flavorful. For my main, I went with the Anthem Smash Burger and sweet potato fries, paired with their truffle yuzu & miso aioli. The burger meat was honestly some of the freshest I've had in a long time - hard to explain, but it really stood out. For drinks, I had the ESXW Margarita, a hybrid frozen cocktail with liquid on the bottom and frozen blood orange margarita on top. It was sweet, balanced, and so refreshing. To finish off, I tried the pineapple upside-down bread pudding. While it wasn't the best I've had, it was still a solid dessert. The flavors - cake, vanilla ice cream, and coconut shavings - worked really well together. Between the food, drinks, service, and overall experience, I'll definitely be back. But what really made our experience at Anthem exceptional was the service we received from our waitress, Polly B. She was professional, kind, and attentive, making sure our every need was met. Her attention to detail and genuine care for our group's experience made us feel like royalty. She even took the time to personally wish our birthday celebrant a happy birthday and made sure to bring out a special treat for the occasion. The service provided by Polly was truly the best we have ever received and made us want to come back to Anthem again soon. The food is amazing, but the service takes the experience to another level. Izzy, Heaven, Des, and Katie are MY GIRLS. My boyfriend and I come here atleast 3 times a week with our two dogs and they do everything to make sure we are taken care of! Above and beyond always! And GREAT company! Aside from that, the music is banger always, the food is AMAZING, and the patio is super chill. Great for people watching on Rainey. Our dogs love it. Some good recommendations- miso mac daddy, edamame, coastal shrimp and fries, loaded queso, brisket breakfast tacos, nam nom noodle salad with grilled shrimp or brisket! One of the highlights for me was the brisket rangoons--hands down some of the best I've had. This place has a great location, but sadly that's about it. I would call it a wanna be swanky place. They have swanky place prices but their quality of service doesn't justify the prices. Also their food or drinks are nothing special, you take away the location and you have a less than mediocre restaurant that tries very hard to be a sports bar too.
