Fully packed sandwiches and so damn good. Heard so many good things about this spot decided to give them a try. Will definitely come back. It was definitely crowded at lunch time and pretty busy. Friendly staff. Wait time for my order was about 10-15 minutes. They do not do pick up orders FYI.. but totally worth the wait! Filling and satisfying. I wanted to get a specialty sandwich in my neighborhood, so I decided to stop by Anthony & Son because I've heard good things about this place. I ordered the FDNY because I heard this one was a must. And this sandwich did not disappoint. I added Banana Peppers also, and I highly recommend you do the same. My friend got the Mario Panini and it was also amazing. It wasn't as heavy as the FDNY because of the veggies. For dessert, we got the tiramisu. I enjoyed everything we got. The service was also great! It took about 5-10 mins to get our food. The store also has really cool apparel and I liked how they are like a mini convenience/grocery store. The ambiance is a grab and go because there is no where to sit. I highly recommend ordering from here! You won't regret it. read more

I've been following the "Growing Up Italian" Instagram page for a good while now, but never put two and two together that a lot of them work at a family sandwich shop. I'm visiting from LA and was walking the neighborhood when the attractive facade of the store caught my attention so I went in. My brain pretty much broke when all the people working were people I see on my social feed every day. Funny surprise. Anyway, that has nothing to do with my rating of the food here. This place makes the best version of what I like to call "new age hoagies" (I'm from the Philly area originally) that I've ever had. Fat Sal's in LA wishes it was this place. I'm a sucker for a good cutlet and this spot has them down to a science. Thinly pounded, flavorful breadcrumbs, crispy crust. We went with the Paisan which is basically an Italian with the addition of a cutlet and it was fantastic. The star of the show was the Big Bang which featured cutlets, mozzarella sticks, broccoli rabe, hot cherry peppers and vodka sauce. 11/10 that thing was. Truly one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. They're huge and not crazy priced for what you get. Bonus points for the stuffed pepper shooters and tasty arancini. I'd be 400 lbs if I lived by this place. Run, don't walk and get yourself one of these sandwiches. read more

I've given this place three separate tries over the course of several months, hoping the hype would eventually make sense. Unfortunately, it hasn't. I've tried both their hot chicken cutlet sandwiches and, most recently, a cold cut -- and each time, the food has been consistently bland and extremely overpriced. On my latest visit yesterday, I ordered pepper mill turkey and repeated it clearly four times, yet still ended up with honey turkey. At nearly $19 for a basic cold cut, that's unacceptable. I ended up eating half and throwing the rest away. To be fair, the staff isn't rude -- customer service is decent -- but the wait is consistently longer than it should be for what you're getting. There's just no value here. I really wanted to like this place, but the food doesn't justify the price or the reputation. There is no world in which a turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato should cost $19, especially when it tastes like absolutely nothing. No flavor, just a forgettable bite that somehow keeps getting more expensive. If you're craving a quality cold cut sandwich, Sal, Kris & Charlie's in Astoria is 10x better -- a few bucks cheaper and easily twice the size. Don't fall for the hype. read more

Phenomenal sandwich shop in Williamsburg that lived up to the hype. I was incredibly excited to eat here. It's been around for over 25 years, so it's earned its place on the block. However, it's not a run down dump either. It's clean inside, with a fresh menu board and relevant branding throughout. It's an Italian deli meets convenience store and to me that's unadulterated bliss. The huge menu might be overwhelming at first. But the more you read, the more delicious it all sounds. Part of me wanted to get a traditional Italian hero, because the photos were drool-inducing. However, as soon as I made eyes with this other one, a combination so simple yet so unique, I knew my mouth would thank me later. FDNY Hero - chicken cutlet, vodka sauce and fresh mozzarella on garlic bread. Take my money. I had been craving for an old school Italian cutlet (one of my absolute favorite things to eat) and this satisfied that craving to a T. The crispy bread, tender cutlet, gooey cheese and flavorful sauce equated to a sum somehow greater than its parts. A first rate hero if there ever was one. It's a tried and true neighborhood spot. Located on the corner, people walk in left and right and from far and wide. This is a place for the people. I only wish I could eat from here weekly, it's just that good! read more

What can I say about this place? It's all I ever thought it would be, straight from an Italian TV show or movie; the options are endless! The staff is charming and welcoming, and all ingredients are fresh and the best of qualities; my husband has been here numerous times and can't get enough of it; now I see why! It's my first time here, and plenty more are to come. I tried the Aranciata blood orange soda, which was so good! And their frozen expresso drink is the best! Impressive selection of drinks, can't even count how many. They also have interesting milkshakes like red velvet, slushies and iced coffee. Some interesting appetizers like Mac and cheese balls with vodka sauce and calamari!! You can check out the menu toward the back and then order upfront. Wish my FDNY hero were a little more saucy like some pics but still really good and flavorful. A few benches and tables outside. Food made pretty quickly. Huge menu. Lots of drinks and snack options at the store Mac and cheese balls $10 for 7 decent size balls and some vodka sauce dip on the side was good. Soooooo oily especially when reheated the next day. Ive ordered from here many a time-- a favorite of mine until recently. I was thrilled when my husband said we'd pay them a visit after visiting the area. I always order the FDNY which never had bacon bits in it. Doesnt say that it includes bacon on the menu either. However there was and I am a Muslim whether they give a shit or not. They do not. I went back to explain that to them and they said there was nothing they could do for me so a literal 21.78 dollars gone to the trash along with a whole hero. Mind you it is rare that I leave a place a bad review even if Im not crazy about em but this was too unfortunate an instance not to say something. Dont order online if you do get a sandwich from there. Pester them with questions about everything if you have dietary restrictions or religious beliefs read more

I don't know how many sons Anthony is trying to put through Med School, but the prices are out of control. I asked for a hero and received some sort of tiny pointy baguette or something. Trust me it was worse and smaller in person. No love was used in making whatever that was. And the PRICE.... Ready .... Almost $19 dollars !!!!! I just received a seven dollar sandwich for 18+ dollars . Take my advice, save your money. For that price you should be getting a hero where you can only finish half! I was done in two seconds. And it's not the money, I'm not a cheap guy i like to spend , it's the principal!! All these places taking advantage after the pandemic. Sad read more

3.5 stars I love a good sandwich and have heard great things about this shop. It's definitely pretty popular. I came during lunch time on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line but I didn't have to wait long before I ordered and got my food. They also have online ordering so definitely saw several people opt for that option and just came in to pick up their order instead. I ordered The Godfather Hero along with Knock Out Fries and it wasn't as great as I'd expected it to be. They definitely pack it with a good amount of Italian meats but I've been to other mom and pop shops that have bigger sandwiches and stuff it even more. It's still good though and I'm curious on their other sandwiches as well. The Knock Out Fries were a bit disappointing. It was fries with steak, vodka sauce and mozz. The fries were thick cut and not crunchy at all. I wasn't expecting it to maintain any crisp since it was covered in sauce but it was actually very soggy and limp. The steak were thin slices, like those in a cheesesteak but I liked that. I think the fries just needed to be done better and it would've been more enjoyable. Otherwise, this was a miss for me. I would still come back for their sandwiches, and would love to try the other signature heroes on their menu. They have a large selection and each are very tempting. The sandwiches are still very filling for one person, but for the Godfather, which incorporates a classic Italian sandwich, I'd have to say that I've had better. read more

Anthony and Son is a gift to mankind. It's my favorite hangover meal, often replaces my weekly pizza order and if they were actually healthy for you, I would be happy eating from Anthony and Son for every damn meal. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the FDNY sub. I have tried a few others on the menu, like the bufffalo chicken sub but I keep coming back to the FDNY. If you like it spicy, add some long Italian peppers to it and you will have what I think is something Joey Tribbiani would leave his meatball sub for. The shop itself is a mish-mash of things, you have a cold food section with various drinks and desserts on your left, the sandwich making happening on your right from when you enter the door and a convenience store at the back. The sandwiches travel well, so look no further if you have to pack for a picnic in the park. read more

I stopped into Anthony and Son's to grab a bite. I was in the nabe to buy some wine and I thought that I'd give them a try. I went for a grilled Chicken and Broccoli Rabe hero. I took my sandwich to go, and I enjoyed it in the privacy of my home. The hero was large, and tasty. The Broccoli Rabe however, was a bit overcooked. My bill at at $19.60 was a bit steep. Overstuffed sandwiches that must be good when construction workers and locals wrap around the store a few times waiting in line to order and pay. Love the different ingredient options in the sandwich. Whichever panini I got with chicken basil roasted red pepper and a thick slice of mozzarella cheese was amazing. Wait wait one minute!!! This is a serious thing!!! I just cant think of the last time i was knocked off my feet like this. Wow this is delicious! I mean delicious. Ive only tasted the 3 small salads i got and havent even unwrapped my hot D'onza. I didnt unwrap my sandwich because i started with the what im going to call the pasta salad (see picture). Omg this should be award winning, if not already. And then another WINNER, what ill call the antipasto salad (see pic), the celery took it to another lever for me, wowdelicious. Now for my main course, D'onza Special, te amo! Thats all i can say. Im not a huge fan of mustard, i rather not have it. But this sandwich would not have been the same if it didnt have honey mustard, yummylicious. Im coming back one more time before i go back West. Im excited and sad at the same time. Super yummy! Each sandwich is pretty expensive, but the panini are huge and are essentially two meals. No seating, but great to take out - I hope to enjoy it quite a bit once it's warmer. I got the Godfather and it was so flavorful. Again, super excited to come back. read more

Wow! This place was cool. The menu is kinda overwhelming but we both really enjoyed our sandwiches and the atmosphere of the place. The have a very small bar outside you can eat at. They were repainting their wall, but it looks like they also usually have benches you can sit at too. Sandwiches took about 25mins to come out but were good. Service was decent. Free stickers too. Go for the Godfather wonderful sandwich of Italian meats. Also the Anthony and Son, chicken, mozz, balsamic. I love this place for their amazing sandwiches. I tried both the FNY Hero (Chicken cutlet, vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella on garlic bread) and the Godfather (prosciutto, capocollo, sopressata, salami, pepperoni, mortadella, fresh mozzarella, arugula, homemade balsamic and hot or sweet peppers). The bread is fresh as are all the other ingredients in the sandwich. I like using their simple online ordering system and the service is friendly. I ordered the Mario Special Panini (price: $17) - fried chicken cutlets, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, and red onions. There is some light chipotle flavor, the meat is a little tough but expected because it's been pounded flat and fried. It is a large sandwich, and had a good amount of avocado and bacon. I wish the cheddar cheddar cheese was melted a little more, it felt like eating too much American cheese in some bites which made it salty. Overall not a bad panini, I would go back to try the other variations. read more

Went here twice thanks to yelp! Both sandwiches were really good. I got the FDNY (chicken sandwich with vodka sauce and mozzarella cheese) and my husband got the Philly cheesesteak, and both were good. My friend got the pastrami and said it was good. The only problem I experience here is deciding on what to eat. The menu is huge! Definitely take time deciding what to order. If you are crunched on time I would recommend getting the big bang or the FDNY but when you get a chance explore the different sandwich options. You won't be disappointed. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

I can't really say enough good things about this place. For a shop in a prime area of Williamsburg, it's not pretentious, it's not pricey, and it's got an AWESOME selection of REAL sandwiches. No tofu bacon or kale here. While that may be upsetting to some of you, I promise that the rest of you will be overjoyed. I legitimately order from here once a week, and the delivery is always prompt. They even have advil and gatorade on the Seamless menu. Are you kidding? Geniuses. I've been going to Anthony's for over a decade and each time it completely exceeded my expectations! From the moment I walk in, I am always greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was cozy and modern with a unique spin, making it the perfect spot for a delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack! The sandwiches were the true star of the show. Every single one I've tried was always phenomenal! The bread was fresh and had the perfect texture--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ingredients were incredibly fresh; you could taste the quality in every bite. The combination of flavors was perfectly balanced, and the portion size was generous without being overwhelming. The menu offers something for everyone, with plenty of options for vegetarians and those looking for unique flavor combinations. A friend of mine recommended me this place but I was a little skeptical because of all the bad reviews but the other day I was in the neighborhood and I decided to try it. The worst thing that can happen us that I lose 10 bucks. So I went inside, I didn't expect great service, I expected a good quality sandwich. And I saw that they had a huge variety of sandwiches. I decided to order the Williamsburg hero and it was absolutely amazing. Mouth watering just watching the guy make it. It was fresh because they have a REAL kitchen in the back and not right out of the box. It ha such a great flavor and the bread was fresh. And there was a great balance between the onion rings and the chicken cutlet and especially that they were both great golden colors and not brown and full of grease. This was nice and tendered and perfectly cooked. So, all I have to say is thanks to my friend for telling me to try this place or else I would've just been dependent upon the reviews. And I would've lost out on a great spot that I now plan to go to more often. read more

5 deli's, 3 restaurants and a couple bars that serve food are within a 2 block walk from my apartment...and 9 out of 10 times my stomach leads me to Anthony's. Their variety of specialty sandwiches is enough to keep me from getting bored with the menu and varied enough that there's always an option for exactly what I'm in the mood for (although I tend to add bacon to everything). And for when a sandwich won't cut it, their layout of pasta, meat dishes, soup and vegetables (although not very large in selection) is always of good quality and reminiscent of a homemade meal...which goes a long way being a single guy that doesn't often cook. Don't mistake the owner's gruff exterior as rude or intimidating, as I once did. It's actually just something a lot of businesses and owners lack these days...a personality. I've been in the neighborhood for years and this is one of my favorite take out lunch spots in the neighborhood! Not to mention their coffee is great. I eat there all the time, the sandwiches are excellent! The staff is mostly family and they take a great deal of pride in their business and keeping customers happy! If your not in the mood for something on the menu they always let you create your own dish / sandwich as long as the ingredients are available in the kitchen. Quite frankly, because I go so often they treat me like family. Anthony knows what I like and don't like and he randomly surprises me with some new sandwich to try out and its always delicious. I really held out for Anthony & Son - it's a running joke in my office that I was the only person left who still got lunch there (after being overcharge for various reasons, nobody bothers anymore, and I feel like the food's not so great that it makes being overcharged worth it). I even held out after I almost broke my teeth on a bunch of bone shards in the "El Presidente" sandwich. I finally gave up today - paid almost nine bucks for two pieces of chicken. It wasn't a meal, it didn't come with rice, it wasn't hot, it wasn't fresh, it was just two pieces of chicken and I asked them to put a few olives on it. Anthony and son is a family run business for over 16 years. Every time you walk in, you are kindly and genuinely greeted by either Anthony himself or one of his fantastic employees! Anthony makes homemade fresh mozzarella right on premises, and it is to die for! Breakfast can be purchased at any time of the day, bacon egg and cheese always hits the spot! The godfather hero is one of my absolute favorites served at Anthony's. Adding some fresh roasted peppers really gives it a nice kick! But most importantly the FDNY! 433 Graham Avenue Deli provides a great variety of choices for delicious, and fresh food. Made daily, this deli provides amazing fresh hot and cold dishes. Also, they make Paninis that you can't find anywhere else in this neighborhood. Considering that I am Italian, the owner makes FRESH MOZZARELLA that you cannot find anywhere else. My favorite spot in the neighborhood, and I couldn't live without this place. They serve great lunch of both hot food and heros, and the service is incredibly quick. Besides the great food, I also come here for his nice selection of olive oil and wines which I don't see anywhere else. Big Tony The mozzarella in Brooklyn. Every day prepares fresh mozzarella from master cheese maker, and is much more good than the one made in Italy. Not to mention its delicious sandwiches. This may sound like a broken record after seeing all the reviews of this place. However I went to Anthony and Son and was blown away by the amount if variety they offer in sandwiches, panini sand hot food ! I got the FDNY and a Nutella milkshake it was like taking a bite out of heaven. The vodka sauce is AMAZING and on garlic bread it's out of this world. My go to spot when I lived in the Burg. The owner is awesome, and always says hi to me, even when I am just walking by. I love the sandwiches, especially the Frost Street, and the $1 diet peach Arizona ice tea. It is a different sandwich then Graham Ave meats and deli. There's pickled red onions for acid and texture, arugula to freshen it all up, and the excellent ciabatta is swabbed with a red pepper jam that ties it all together. It comes in at $16 + tax and tip (not cheap), but they also threw some unexpected fries in there, which was a nice bonus. I don't think they did that just for me, so you'll probably get them too. The space is a bit nondescript, but they have a surprising amount of seating with big windows and bright natural light, including a decent view of the street. I was almost expecting it to be dry, but it was not an issue. The bacon added another element. The flavor of each item complemented the other ingredients, which made the sandwich extremely enjoyable.
