A bit dingy inside and outdated restaurant booths, BUTTTTT this spot reminds me all too well of the classic pizzerias I knew and loved as a child. With an interior straight out of the streets of NYC (and I should know since I grew up there), not only does Anthony Francos look the part, their pizza taste the part too - if that makes sense???? Unbeknownst to me the first time we came here, Anthony Franco's is actually part of a large chain of pizzerias in NJ. I've now had the chance to try their pizza a few times, including once when my company ordered a ridiculously large number of different pies from them and, honestly, they knocked it out of the park. I've tried their regular cheese slice, pepperoni, sausage, veggie, white, vodka, upside down and eggplant slices and all of them were really good. Really good as in not too thick, not too thin and a nice even breading to the regular slices (not counting the ones that had a massive undercarriage of dough). To be honest, this has been the closest thing that I've tried to a very, very good NY slice in northern NJ. Granted, I haven't even come close to going to every pizzeria in the county, so take it for what it's for. The only knock I do have is that they make a thick version of the Buffalo and Upside Down slices along with thin versions, which I don't understand, but go for the thin one. The thick slices are really unnecessary and way too thick in breading, unless you're looking to carb load for a marathon. Definitely on our list of NJ spots to just hit up if we're in need of a quick slice.

    Drunken Grandma pizza

NJ pizza blows New England pizza out of the water every time. As soon as I walked in this place, I knew it was gonna be good. Crowded on a Friday, tons of guys working. You can watch them make the pizzas behind a glass divider. The Drunken Grandma sicilian pie was excellent. Essentially a plain pie with vodka sauce instead of marinara.

Went to grab a quick lunch with my boyfriend, walked in and was transported back to my childhood. The old authentic booths, the garlic shakers with oregano and red pepper flakes the glass cases for the pizza with the men working right in front of you. The vibes are exactly what you want when you walk into an old school pizza place. It's clear this place is a community favorite and that people have been going here for a long time. They were quick. The food was good and they even were accommodating to my dairy allergy. My boyfriend loved the soup and the ricotta eggplant slice. My salad was typical salad but delicious and awesome for the price. Would return!

Omg seriously. So good. No other words. They're quick and the pizzas are so yummy. I can't deal lol very friendly and the location is simple with parking. Thank you. The food didn't make it home. No bend on a heavy pizza.

If they send you a sloppy mess like this, don't expect a replacement. Really disappointed in the customer service from a place we used to go to all the time. Won't be back.

$3.75 for a pepperoni slice . They have many slices available, I wasn't sure which one to get, so I choose the pepperoni . You get a very good amount of pepperoni and the slice tasted decent. If I'm in the area and wants a quick bite, I wouldn't mind stopping in again.

Friday night dinner run. I have good memories here from the past as they have great pizza. However, I could have done without the trip. I ordered a Sicilian slice and a Buffalo chicken slice. The Sicilian slice looked amazing but only tasted fine. The Buffalo chicken slice was stale. I was not a fan. Looks are deceiving because these slices looked really good but fell short of good. Maybe it's time for me to keep my good memories and find a new pizza spot.

    Veggie Slice
    Joanne T.

Attended a training course and the facilitators ordered pizzas and a salad from here for us to have. One of the best pizzas I've ever had! I had a few veggie slices and absolutely loved them! The veggies were full of flavor, pizza bottom wasn't flimsy, fluffy, and not overly greasy. Really loved it. Even took a picture of the pizza box to make sure I order from them again.

    White slice. Meh.

Guy seemed overwhelmed and reluctantly took my order. I showed up 30 min later and no one had any record of my order. I recognized the guy's voice and told him he took my order. He was pissed and got into a shouting match with me with 3 other customers around. He eventually apologized and offered a free side of meatballs and spaghetti (don't order that btw, super underwhelming). 2nd time: Wife placed an order for a pie with half pepperoni on their website. Came back with the order and the pie had full toppings. Small nit but annoying. 3rd time: I called at 6pm on a Thursday. No one picked up. Opted to place order on their website and got the same item as last time. Showed up at and the same miserable guy asked for my name and order... and then said he didn't have any order. I told him I placed an order on the website... and he said "You should have called." with an awful (only a mother can love) grin. I showed him my email confirming 6:20pm pickup time and he said he had no order... before pulling a pie with my name on it. I asked if it had half pepperoni and it didn't. Full toppings AGAIN. Clearly, their website is not equipped to actually take half toppings orders. Pizza is OK but not worth the headache or poor service here.

I love a slice of pizza that has the crunchy bottom and the pepperoni is charred and cupped. Their white slice is good too. Pros: - Quick and friendly service - Crunch bottom pizza slices for those who love eating it this way - Opens late on the weekends until 2am - Want coffee?? Dunkin is next door but they close a lot earlier than here Cons: - Limited seating area - Small parking lot but late night there's always a spot Come check them out for a late night slice!

We grabbed a table on a Saturday night we were immediately impressed by the amazing smells upon entering . I spent my summers in Italy growing up and this place took me back . Our wonderful waitress and over and left some bread and oil while we looked at the menu. We agreed upon the califlower as an app . Hubby had the eggplant parm and I did the pasta with shrimp and broccoli . We also got a side of broccoli rabe, the meals also came with a nice side salad . The portions are a realistic smaller size and delicious. Unbelievably so! Fresh and great quality olive oil is used you can taste the difference. We were going to splurge and get dessert but they only had chocolate cake or ice cream so we declined . It is a byob. We honestly already said we will be going again next week! Every appetizer was better than the last. The main dishes were just as impressive. The chicken parm was crispy and flavorful, the gnocchi was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, and the sole francese was delicate and delicious. We were passing plates around the table because no one could decide which dish was their favorite! It's BYOB, which made it feel even more relaxed and special. Called in to make an order, and the owner say it was a busy day, so my pie would be reading in 45-minutes, instead of 25-30. I assumed if people are willing to frequent there, I'll join the queue. I ordered the Drunken Peps Detroit Style Pizza, which had "mozzarella cheese, two types of pepperoni (original sliced/cup & char), homemade vodka sauce, and freshly grated pecorino romano cheese." First off, the pie is huge --- completely worth the $26.96 I paid for it. Secondly, the photos don't do it justice --- it is steaming hot upon pick-up, and that very generous layer of sauce on the top was *chef's kiss*. Although the crust may appear very dark i the photos, it was actually perfect --- and provided that nice *crunch* and *crackle* that those crunchy cheesy edges provide. They have some seating inside and when it is nice outside, there is a good space for more outdoor seating. I always suggest calling ahead to try and reserve a space, just in case it is a very busy night! As for the food, I always have had good food here! Their speciality is pizza, but do not take their wings (or as they say "Wangz") for granted. Typically on Wednesdays (also double check this if you plan to leverage it when you call to reserve), if you purchase a pizza, you can then unlock the ability to get $1 wings! For the Wangz specifically, my favorite is the Cracked Black Pepper ones. These wings typically are not small and have a good amount of meat in them! The flavor of the pepper blends goes very well with them! For the pizza, I have tried many of their speciality pies. Some of my favorites include: - Hot Julia - Red pie w/ Pepperoni, Riccota & Pecorino cheeses, Basil, & Hot Honey - Spicy Calabrese - White pie w/ Gargonzola, Nduja (spreadable pork sausage) & Calabrian Chillies - Prosciutto & Argula - Red pie - The Otto - Red pie w/ Anchovies & Capers These pies are made Neapolitan style and the dough has great flavor! If Neapolitan your style of pizza, you will enjoy it here! Oh and even if the menu does not mention it, they do serve dessert! Ask your server with what they have for the night! I really enjoy the styles of gelato they rotate on the menu!
