First, if you check the Google reviews you will see that this practice replies to poor reviews with giving out the patient's phone number in a petty way. Who does that? Second, they are not a true emergency dental practice as they go by appointment's only. At least, that is what I have been told when I call. They are always "too booked". Third, they prescribe medication based on a short questionnaire which has questions such as, "Are you in pain?" "Are you experiencing swelling?" - So, yes they prescribe medications without seeing the patients first. Instead, they go off of their symptoms. Fourth, the man who answers the phone seems to have a attitude or just a voice that is tired of working and is ready to retire. As he said he has been with the practice for many, many years. When dealing with patients who have pain, I would expect a little more empathy being shown. read more

My husband and I were visiting orlando... a mini vacation. Two days into our stay I started having intolerable tooth pain, having had an abcess before.... I was fairly certain this is what I was dealing with. I had contacted my own dentist and made an appointment the day after our return, they started me on antibiotics. Fast forward.... Two sleepless nights... increasing pain, I contacted Dr Oswald.... He did not have any appointments for the day I called, I was given a typical office routine, however they did mention a phone consult. I thanked them for their time, and was contemplating the phone visit. Within 10 minutes of my initial call Dr Oswald returned my call personally, mind you I did not leave any personal information with my initial call, only the pain I was experiencing. Dr Oswald immediately offered the phone visit, he changed up the antibiotics, explained in detail an over the counter pain regimen, and called the prescription to the pharmacy. It's been less than 24 hrs since the call and changes were made. I'm comfortable and able to enjoy my last day here...I'm so grateful!!! read more

This man os a butcher. Broke 2 teeth putting in a bridge and billed me for them to be fixed. Oral surgeon he sent me to told him i had a tumor on my jaw he blew it off and said don't worry about it. It is now causing numbness and pain on nerve. I need to a oncologist to see what to do. AVOID THIS BUTCHER AT ALL COST UNLESS YOU HATE YOURSELF OR THE PERSON YOU BROUGHT. HE IS ONLY AFTER MONEY. I am so thankful for this dental office! They saved our vacation. Long story short...I started getting a toothache on the 2nd day of our vacation. I thought it was just tooth sensitivity but it was getting progressively worse. At bedtime last Saturday night, I realized it was bad enough that I couldn't sleep and we were supposed to go to Epcot the next morning. I was in tears and started searching. I found this phone number for a 24 hour dentist and decided to give it a try. Great decision! He asked me what the issue was and said it sounded like an infection. I sent him a picture of the tooth that was hurting. Within 15 minutes, he had called in a prescription for antibiotics for me to a 24 hour pharmacy close to my hotel. Once I had my antibiotic and took OTC pain medicine, I was asleep by 2am and my family and I made it to the parks and enjoyed the rest of our vacation! By the end of the 2nd day of antibiotics, I had no pain but he told me if I still had pain, they could get me in first thing in the morning to fix the issue. Thankfully I didn't even need to do that. Dr. Oswisk saw me on short notice when I was down for spring break. Instead of getting frustrated when we couldn't narrow down what tooth was hurting me, he was patient and conservative. He suggested giving it a couple days to let the pain localize. He gave me a prescription which relieved a lot of the pain. A couple days later I saw my dentist at home and could better figure out which tooth it was. He is a straight shooter with a good sense of humor. He tolerated my quirky questions and even gave me advice for choosing a dentist back home. He offered advice for some other teeth that needed work, even though he knew he wouldn't get the work since it was my spring break. He followed up with several calls after the appointment to make sure everything was ok. Overall a good dude. read more

I made a "new patient" appointment, for a cleaning and check-up, with Dr. Kashlak in January, and was given a date in early April. My appointment was for 5PM, and I confirmed the appointment before leaving work at 3PM. I arrived early and filled out the necessary paperwork. I then waited until 5:20, at which time Dr. Oswick came out and asked me what I was there for. I told him I had an appointment with Dr. Kashlak for a cleaning and a check-up. He stated that it appeared I did not have my old x-rays with me. I explained that my previous dentist, in North Carolina, had felt that my x-rays were too old to be of much use (the panoramics were more than 5 years old), so I had not obtained copies, assuming that my new dentist would take new x-rays. Dr. Oswick said he would not treat me without my old x-rays, even though I explained that I had taken the afternoon off of work for an appointment made 3 months earlier, and no one had ever told me that my old x-rays were a requirement. Dr. Oswick stated that he would put me in the chair and look at my teeth and I could return with my old x-rays when I had them for the cleaning and full check-up. A cursory glance in my mouth lead Dr. Oswick to note that I needed "a lot" of dental work, including at least 5 fillings. He also asked me if I was happy with the color of my teeth. My previous dentist, whom I saw 8 months ago, never tried to sell me teeth-whitening, and didn't tell me of any impending need for filling-replacement. Here is what I think happened (granted this is pure speculation): Dr. Kashlak was not in the office for some reason, despite the fact that I had a confirmed appointment with her. Dr. Oswick was seeing her patients, but it was nearly 5:30 and he wanted to go home. Requiring my x-rays was the easiest and quickest way of getting rid of me. To add insult to injury, Dr. Oswick charged me a seemingly-arbitrary $15 copay, explaining that I have a dental discount plan, not dental insurance. In fact, I have a dental HMO, and there is no $15 copay anywhere on the fee schedule. I have lodged a complaint with my insurance company regarding this matter. I will not be back to see Dr. Oswick or Dr. Kashlak. They may be wonderful dentists, but I feel I was dealt with in a very unprofessional manner, and I anticipate them trying to "sell" me lots of dental work that I likely don't need. read more

Worst Experience Ever!!!! Dr. Oswick asked me to pay $2000 for my root canal or he won't fix my swollen cheeks. He started to work on the root canal, however didn't finish the work and leave the problem to grow. When I went back in with pain again, he said he needed additional money to fix that root canal. He charged me another $1500 and he is still not done with the root canal. He is a scam. DO NOT GO. He will suck your money dry before he fixes the real problem. read more

Dr. Oswick is not your cozy southern doctor. He walks around with a light strapped on his head and he is a perfectionist. I'm ok with all of that. Dr. Oswick is the only dentist I will see down here. I'm from New York and Boston and am used to the best in medical care. I don't trust the dentists down here, with homespun charm, who will cheerfully mess up your teeth. Dr. Oswick made me take four impressions because he wanted two that were perfect. The crown was perfect. The appointment was long as a result- I'm also very ok with that. My teeth feel and look great. Highly recommend. Be prepared to pay up front. Totally worth it. read more

Rip off! Don't go! Went there cause of broken tooth...charged me few hundred dollars for x-rays. taught me how to floss ( are you kidding) and wrote me an Rx for pain and charged me again for the emergency visit. Then had a treatment plan of all the other problems of my teeth...I went to my regular dentist and he said my teeth is fine. Of course I lost all the money I gave this office. I called them back and told them I'm not coming back. "Oh you know you will lose your money" expected it so I just left it at that. read more

Avoid this dentist! He is very unprofessional and scared me and my daughter half to death during an emergency treatment session while we were vacationing in Orlando. He shouted repeatedly at my daughter who is only 10 years old. He kept yelling that it did not hurt and that he has been doing this job for 20 years and he knows when someone is just scared. My dauthers mouth was bleeding and she was in pain. He also shouted at his assistant when she got in his way and told her to shut up when she tried to calm my daughter down. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a health care professional. He should not practice dentistry. He also overcharged us for a simple procedure. read more

Do not go anywhere this dentist or his office. To say he is awkward socially is being kind. He and his office staff are poised to manipulate you from the time you walk into the office. He had no intention of cleaning my teeth but to rip me off from the beginning. I don't even think he has a dental hygienist & you would understand if you have the bad luck to meet him. I was told I had to pay an add'l $100. to get an "upgraded cleaning" and my teeth never got brushed nor properly cleaned. He told me I had to prepay $200. for tooth molds & for cavity repair. Now that I've chosen not to return they will not refund any of the money! He should be receiving doctor treatment instead of giving it, psychiatry that is. I wanted to update my review in retrospect and after working with the newer office staff, who communicate much better than the previous people I was working with. When I went in to the dentist for my emergency/broken tooth, I had not been to a dentist in a very long time and he found several other cavities that he felt he needed to take care of. Additionally, the tooth that needed to be crowned had an oddity showing in the X-ray and he did not feel comfortable crowning it without further looking into it and redoing my root canal. This is what caused the extra cost that I did not expect. I have since been to another dentist who confirmed that the work looked good and I have not had any tooth pain or issues since then. I am updating my rating because the dental work was good and, after all, he is a dentist and clearly wants to ensure his work is accurate and complete. The new office manager I have spoken with is much better at communicating and understanding issues and they have checked up with me to ensure my new dentist completes the work. I find this extra care and communication to be much better than my initial experience. And there is no doubt the dental work was good. I believe everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves after a mistake is made, and this practice has done so. read more

It was a Wednesday night, going home from work in July (I think) of 2011. My mother, who was 80 years old at the time, was in very serious pain. It had been a considerable amount of time since she had last seen a dentist for routine dental care. She is a heart patient, that suffers the fate of many patients like her, that of delayed or neglected dental attention. Because of their medications that cause them to be bleeders (sometimes profuse), most dentists will not touch these patients. At most, the patients can get their teeth pulled. Having to wait until the tooth is rotten before anyone will touch them is not healthy for the patient. So its a vicious cycle -- dental work causes them to bleed substantially - so dentist won't work on them. The lack of dental care aids in further heart health issues and dental issues. So here I am with my mother in substantial pain-- I was also new to Orlando, as was my mother and father. I called an emergency dental referral service, and sure enough, a dentist called me and said, "well, its 6:30. If you can come now, I'll take a look at her". He was brusque on the phone, but I felt I needed to get her to see him. We arrived to the building, all but his office locked up for the night, and we rolled (my mother is in a wheel chair) into his office. Dr. Oswick looked at her and saw the condition of her mouth. It was indeed in terrible shape. All of us (including her) knew she need tremendous amount of care. He didn't do anything for her that night, but offered to see her in 3 days after she had been off her blood thinners for that time, and after he had talked or got the records from her heart doctor. We filled all that out and indeed returned in 3 days. Thus started a 10 month odyssey to pull the rotten teeth, to fill remaining teeth, and then to give her dentures. We have finished the process, and today my mother got her new tooth. Beautiful work. Dr. Oswick is a skilled craftsman. As I am an engineer, I will relate him to my world in that he is a classic lab rat. In technical world, a lab rat is a person who has extraordinary skills in their craft, but lack social skills of the politicians, or the average "good ole boy". He is not the social butterfly. But let me say this -- he is a master at working on your mouth. As many health problems that plagued my mother, he could have done what all the other dentists that she tried to see over the last 10 years. He could have punted and sent her on her way. He didn't. He saw someone in great need and proceeded to work his way through all her problems. My mother never suffered one round of infection from any of the dental work. Not once. That's incredible. She never suffered from pain from any of the dental work. Not once. That's incredible. And I will say, that in his own way, he was extraordinarily kind to her. And there was plenty of opportunity for him to give up as he had to deal with her bleeding issues. I believe his desire to see previous records and speak to my mothers doctors was an effort on his part to know his risks and know what kinds of problems he might encounter. Its better to plan for success but prepare for problems. Again, this is a typical engineering approach to a problem. This is how a skilled craftsman approaches problems. So if you have health issues, and you need dental work performed by a master craftsman, I would recommend Dr. Oswick. But don't look at him to be your best friend or to provide warm and fuzzies. The politician type of dentist does not take the time to learn his craft. The skilled craftsman is normally a shy and introverted technician--excellent with things, not people. I, too, did not have a good experience with Dr Oswick. It had to do with financials. What started as an emergency of a cracked tooth ended up costing over $15,000. The doctor always found work that needed to be done "now", an charged me. I kempt asking for an Itemized bii which I never recieved, I finally could not afford to go any move because each visit ended up costing me $$$$$$. So now I have a mouth full of missing teeth, I am still paying off my credit card,, and I still have NEVER received the itemized statement of the work done and paid for AS I WAS PROMISED AT EVERY VISIT. I might even have a credit, but I'm afraid to go back to him because I can't afford to get more in debt. This is no way to run a business. A patient deserves an Itemized receipt with each payment made. Thanks to the computer it is easily accomplished. Total scam artist. I called the doctor's office the night before due to severe pain lasting several days. I am a single parent that hasn't had any insurance for over two and a half years. The lady that answered the phone assured me that they take Metlife. I arrived early to be greeted by the receptionist who had me fill out some paper work and inform me that I would need to pay 149.00 upfront. I was then greeted by the doctor who rushed me back to get xrays and was very demanding. I was then seated in one chair and then moved to another. I was still filling out paper work when they were reclining the chair. When I asked if they wanted me to stop filling out the paperwork, their answer was to continue. The doctor immediately began by saying, so you haven't been to a dentist in awhile. Uh, no...haven't had insurance or the money to go. He then asked me to look at the xrays and describe what I would call "that" in between my teeth. So I thought I would play along and said, "gook"? He responded with, "Well I have a better word for it"...I said, I'm sure you do. ?? He then went on to say you need to have scaling done before we can even address the tooth that is bothering you. I asked how much? He said, 300.00, How do you want to pay for it? I told him I don't have that. He kept pressuring me saying, what can you afford today? What do you want to do? Can you borrow it from someone? Do you want to do it later today? We can squeeze you in. What about tomorrow? This is serious. You could end up in an emergency room with I.V.'s hooked up to you. What can you afford? You need a root canal. What do you want to do?? This is serious. My head was spinning. I told him that I had a check at home that I needed to deposit. He responded with, do you want to go do that and come back? I'm thinking this is all the money I have right now and I have car insurance and other bills to pay and I don't have anyone who can help me and I don't want to be in a hospital or worse, die from this. I was so scared I didn't know what to do. So he got up and said go do what you need to and come back. We will set an appointment for you tomorrow at 9. While I was standing at the counter the lady said, we can open a line of credit for you, do you want to apply? Uh, no. Then I asked how much is an extraction? He said, 100.00 more on top of the 300.00. Upfront. I was so upset when I left. Come to find out from calling my insurance that they are NOT IN NETWORK. My fault for not calling my insurance company first. Got ahold of another dentist not far from where this dr. is located and the dentist there was very empathetic, drew up a plan, paid ZERO out of pocket the first time, got FREE antibiotics and was treated like a human being, not just someone who can line your pockets (DR. ASS). Read other reviews and some guy named Tony that works for the dr. o., likes to threaten to sue people. Go ahead. These reviews speak for themselves and believe me...I work for 2 major hotels and so does my son. HMMM, you work on referrals right?? I'm sorry that something really crappy must have happened to this dr. to treat people so bad. If you don't pull it together pretty soon there is something called "JUDGEMENT DAY" and I can without a doubt know which direction your heading. Have a good day. read more

I just signed up on yelp and was not surprised to see negative reviews for Dr. Oswick as I had a very similar, negative experience in the past with this dentist. I am hoping this review will help others avoid going through the same bad experience I had with this dentist. In 2011, I went in for my first (and last) dental visit with Dr. Anthony Oswick. I was told on the phone that for the first visit I would get an exam, general cleaning and x-rays and it would all be covered under my insurance and I would pay $0. When I got to the visit, they immediately charged me a $42 copay. I explained to the assistant and Dr. Oswick at the desk that I should have a $0 copay under my insurance and they said, no, that I did have a copay. I later found out that they had charged me not for a copay as they originally alleged, but instead charged me a fee for showing up late, even though they told me on the phone to come at that time, and they misinformed me that it was a copay, not a late fee. Then the dentist, Dr. Oswick, was extremely rude, saw me for only 3 minutes (I checked my watch) stuck his fingers in my mouth and called that a full exam. And he did not give me x-rays or a general cleaning. Instead Dr. Oswick tried to sell me a $200 scaling job (when I went to my current dentist I found out that I did not need a scaling job and I never had one done). When I asked for a general cleaning or even just x-rays, Dr. Oswick refused and said he would do that when I came back for the $200 scaling job. So I spent $42 and got a 3 minute consultation with no cleaning or x-rays and instead the alleged dentist just tried to sell me an expensive job. And I called my insurance company who informed me everything should have been covered completely by insurance and I should have spent $0. I called the dentist a few minutes after I left because I realized I had been scammed and requested a refund, however, Dr. Oswick did not call me back and never returned my money. I gave him the opportunity to do the right thing but he chose to do the wrong thing. In my opinion Dr. Oswick is unprofessional, unethical and a complete scam and I would not recommend Dr. Oswick to anyone. read more
