There aren't enough stars to pick from for this doctor. I was handicapped with a hypersensitivity to loud noises, especially music. The internet claims there is no cure or treatment for this syndrome. I've had to wear ugly ear plugs every time I went out, often I would forget them and have to turnaround and go home and I couldn't talk to people well because I couldn't hear them good and it effected my speech (Dr. Bittar's audiologist made me some custom ear plugs by taking a molding of my ear and they are then printed on a 3-D printer! They colored to be invisible and they worked much better). It happened from barotrauma I experienced on a flight to Denver when fluid filled up behind my ear drum. I went to my family doctor and to two terrible ENT doctors. Ridiculously, they sent me home with antibiotics and a steroid pack even though I insisted it was from the flight, repeatedly. One of them told me it was a temporary condition and it would go away in 1.5 to 2 years but it had already been 2.5 years at that point! Even more ridiculous, he referred me to a cognitive behavior specialist (a psychologist for my ear problem!), I didn't go. So, I thought that I was going to suffer from this handicap for the rest of my life. Another 2.5 years go by, problem persisting, I tried to find a doctor that was part of the St. Davids network because they have a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and I had met someone that said they had a friend that cured his similar problem 90% by going into one of those (still a relatively new science). I also picked Dr. Bittar because I observed that he performed numerous different ear procedures, so I thought maybe he would have one for me, which turns out indeed did! He agreed with me and said it was from barotrauma and that my estachian tubes were collapsed and getting no air through them, so he recommended we try a procedure before trying the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. 2 weeks ago, I had balloon dilation of the Estachian tubes performed which was a outpatient surgical procedure done through the nose (no cutting involved). I was truly skeptical that it could cure the problem!; however, yesterday, I went out downtown to some loud bars, and much to my astonishment, I didn't even have to wear my new ear plugs! The hypersensitivity to music/loud noises is gone! Dr. Bittar healed me 100%!! My only regret is not finding him sooner! I was misled by the two bad ENT's I went to into remaining handicapped for 5 years when there was a solution the entire time. The world needs more doctors like Dr. Bittar! It's like a miracle for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Don't hesitate to go see Dr. Bittar even if other doctors have failed you in the past. I met Dr. Anthony Bittar in 2010. I found him while researching surgeons to perform my thyroidectomy after the doctor who was originally going to do it broke his shoulder and had to cancel. I call that a lucky break (for me). I read up on Dr. Bittar's credentials and education; following our initial visit I felt comfortable and confident that he was my guy. We sealed the deal and set a date. The surgery was textbook. No issues or complications. He had great bedside manners; he listened to me and made sure I understood everything he told me. If I didn't, he told me again. He was kind and patient. Because he used staples to close the incision, I looked like the Bride of Frankenstein following surgery, which I found alternately amusing and alarming. But he assured me that once healed, the incision would be imperceptible. He instructed me on how to care for the incision while the sutures were in place and after they were removed. By golly, he was right. Once I healed, I couldn't (and still can't) discern where he made the incision. Nobody can. He's a magician! Moreover, all the paperwork and insurance claims were handled efficiently. I could not be happier with the process from start to finish. The reason I am writing this eight (8) years after the surgery is because back then, I had yet to embrace social media beyond being a consumer of what others had to say. I wasn't sharing my own thoughts or reviews. I have since become active on social media as a consumer and creator. So, today, after an appointment with the good doctor regarding a different issue, I thought: it's about time I share my experience with others. Six weeks ago, Dr. Bittar performed septoplasty and turbinate reduction on my nose which had been injured when I was a high school student many years past. Two weeks before that surgery, he gave me a complete ENT examination, cleared my ears of impacted cerumen, and noticed my nose injury. He said he could fix it and help me to sleep better. This is my first surgery, not counting tooth implants. Right away I responded to him, "Let's do it!". I have previous history with Dr. Bittar. My last visit to his office was in 2017 when he removed impacted cerumen and cotton from my left ear. I had forgotten I had a cotton wad in my ear and continued pushing it in even more with my hearing aid ear mold. It hurt so much. Finally, I ended up in Dr. Bittar's office without any insurance. His office agreed to treat me as I agreed to pay on the spot. Well Dr. Bittar looked in my ear and said, "We have been putting cotton in our ear?". I had forgotten about it and replied that I didn't think I had. Well, he used that little magic vacuum cleaner and pulled that cotton wad out, it was instant relief! I then adoringly listened to every word he said afterwards. He said that we should not be putting anything smaller than our elbow into our ear, especially not cotton. I responded that Q tips feel so good. He countered saying "If you want to pay me to clean out your ears, then go ahead." That is why it has been a few years between visits, I don't do that anymore. Recently, I have been sleeping longer hours, actually dreaming, and feeling more rested. He is so right, breathing is really all that and more. I only found Dr. Bittar last year, but am so thrilled that I did! He is one of the most competent and compassionate surgeons that I've encountered in Austin or beyond. He discovered and repaired my deviated septum and made some beautiful cosmetic adjustments to my nose, and during the same surgery, he removed a portion of my thyroid (a procedure I had been avoiding, literally, for years). I used Jessica for a photofacial. My experience with jessica was wonderful and I plan on seeing her again for another photofacial and some other services in the near future. She completely explained all the pre- and post questions and concerns I had on the phone and when I was in the office. She was confident and knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend her to anyone. She followed up with me a week after my proceedure as well. Jessica is gem and you should go see her for any or all of your needs in this department. BTW- I used a groupon that she ran and though I had discounted price on the service- I can tell you she didn't treat me any differently or did I feel less important that a client that paid full price. I have been seeing Dr Bittar for about a month already and within that time he has done so much for me, he told me I had a cyst near my brain and sinus(the location of it was very dangerous) and it needed to be out ASAP also that I had very sever breathing problems because of the shape of the inside of my nose. Of course I was very nervous for the surgery to happen because I didn't want the shape of my nose to change but Dr Bittar reassured me that everything will be more better than before! I couldn't be happier with my results. I went to see Dr Bittar with a thrice broken nose complete with deviated septum, bone displacement and entire chunks of bone missing due to the severity of the damage. I could barely breath out of one of my nostrils and my nose was badly misaligned. Dr Bittar did and amazing job putting my nose back together. I now have the full use of both nostrils and I'm not self conscious about people seeing my nose from certain angles. I can say that my nose aesthetically and functionally has become a strength of my face instead of a detriment. I feel better, I look better and its all thanks to the knowledge and skill of Dr Bittar. I had a rhino/septoplasty last week by Dr. Bittar who is a top notch physician and surgeon. I work in the healthcare industry and asked around to my OR RN friends. He was recommended to me. I have always been nervous about finding someone to operate on my nose because it's a complex procedure. Dr Bittar cared for me during an emergency 6-day hospitalization and again a year later for an unrelated surgery. I received the best care possible during the hospitalization, follow-up, surgery, and post-surgical care. He preformed surgery because of a bad sinus infection but he failed to tell me that I also had 3 tumors on my thyroid that had a high chance of cancer. Dr. Bittar did a beautiful and careful repair of my daughter's nose (she had had a prior rhinoplasty with another doctor several years prior, which did not give good results).
