Ive always heard great things about Anthony's. This was actually by first time eating here, as I had tried to get in one time before but there was a 2 hour wait. I totally understand why now. This time I was smarter and thought ahead-- I made a reservation. No one answered the phone, but i was promptly called back the same day and they confirmed my reservation time. We arrived and ordered gumbo to share, steak&pasta as our entrees, and cheesecake for dessert. My steak was melt in your mouth buttery. Absolutely phenomenal. It also came with a salad and a side (I chose a baked potato). I truly don't know if I could pick a favorite for the night. Everything stood out. Everything was absolutely divine. Loved that when I called for reservations that I had a return call less than 15 minutes. Loved the old building and atmosphere. I was not a fan of my main course, but the key lime pie was delicious! Next time I will try a dish less spicy. I'm really not a big fan of Cajun seasoning. Those who are would love the dish I chose. read more

Was so excited to try this place. The service was great. Zero complaints there, except for maybe a lack of a manager. But, on recommendation, I ordered shrimp and grits. The amount of added ingredients on that dish was insane. The texture of the grits was off. Either clumpy or so overcooked it was mush. I couldn't eat it. My friend ordered a salmon plate. The inside of the salmon was raw and the sauce on top was inedible. $70 later, neither of us had a meal. I alerted the server and no manager came out or anything. So disappointed. read more

The best catfish!!! My husband had a meat cut with crab that wow!!!! And the bread pudding... definitely is some of the best restaurants in the area!!! We wanted to get catfish in Mississippi, so we looked on yelp and found Anthony's Good Food Market. It had good ratings and after visiting and tasting the food, I knew why. We were from out of state and this was our first time at Anthony's. The place is HUGE! In fact, we had difficulty finding the front door to enter! We went on a Thursday night, so I didn't think it would be crowded. But when we got in and saw the crowd and were asked if we had reservations we got worried we may not get in, but the host said it wasn't a problem tonight and we were seated right away. Curtis was out waited and had the cutest southern drall. He was funny and pleasant and took our order as soon as we were ready. I got catfish with crawfish sauce, and my husband got bayou catfish. We also had salad, bread pudding for dessert. All was delicious. The food was slow getting out but, I think it was because the place was so busy, and I learned in the south, they just aren't in a hurry, and lastly, being from CA, we are always in a rush, so normal time seems slow. I like the place. It can get a bit crowded. It's a bit rustic. Nothing really fancy, but you go for the food. That's what you're here for. And, it's delicious. The mushrooms for a starter, be hitting. They have great steaks, but I'm more of a fish guy. The Salmon is the go to. Of course the shrimp and grits be dapping like Fred Sanford and Sons. Fun place to bring your own wine, sit back and relax. Servers do not rush you. We had our wine and an appetizer before placing our order. Salad came quickly thereafter and perfect timing on the food. Went Friday night 2 adults with 2 kids and a baby, when we got there half of the tables were empty. When we asked for a table the hostess was not friendly at all, didn't ask for a name to be put in a list, just said "well that be at least 45 mins to an hour." Thinking she wanted to put us on a big table I replied "we fit in a booth" and she just said "oh no all our booths are taken for the night" but that was it. Not offered to be put on a waiting list, there was a couple sitting down and one behind us, right away she asked how many to the guy next to me and took them to a booth. At any point she seemed like she already had the couple down from earlier nor they said they had a reservation. Just made us feel like they don't want kids there. I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of the hotel I was staying in. I ordered a cup of the gumbo and the shrimp and grits. At first, the gumbo came out only lukewarm, but the staff heated for me and it was very good. The bread they brought out was exceptional! It is one of the best breads I've had at a restaurant. Don't be fooled by the outward appearance of Anthony's Market. This place is a gem hidden in plain sight. Not a particularly fancy place, but the food and service at top-notch! We were looking for dinner after a particularly long day. Someone at work suggested Anthony's, and in particular the Fried Chicken over cheesy grits smothered in spicy Crawfish sauce. We were seated in the bar because we didn't have reservations (didn't know we needed reservations)! Nothing wrong with the bar because they had live blues music! Bonus! We started with a salad (actually really good, not your normal head lettuce salad). And they sprinkled blue cheese on the dressing (yummy!)! We also had a small loaf of Rosemary bread which was warm, fresh, and scrumptious! Ordered the suggested entree, Fried Chicken over Cheesy Grits smothered with Spicy Crawfish Sauce. This was one of the best meals I have ever had, and that's saying a lot. The chicken was hot, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned and cooked. And huge! This was an average restaurant with average tasting food. I knew this was an average restaurant when they did not provide cloth napkins. Anywho, there were 3 in my party. We ordered the steak. It was dry as heck and not flavorful. We ordered the chicken fettuccine. It was so bland. The table bread was ok. The bread pudding appeared to be made with the same type of bread they give you with the meal. The bread pudding was just ok. The keylime pie tasted like a keylime cheese cake and it looked like a cheese cake but it was good. Just don't expect a keylime pie. I ordered the chicken strips. Now the chicken strips were moist and tasted pretty good. They were the best out of all three dishes. Know the food here was not exciting and not very flavorful but the service was really good. No I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The other two individuals in my party said that they were not satisfied with the food and that they would not return. We agree that Harvey's in Starkville was much, much better and the ambience at Harvey's is much better. This place was more laid back and casual like. read more

We were visiting Columbus for business, and a colleague suggested making the drive out to West Point for dinner and I'm so glad we did. Everything was fantastic and I could sit at a table and just eat three loaves of that delicious bread and be happy. The fried green tomatoes were the best I've had in literally decades. They were thick-cut and breaded perfectly. Everyone loved the crawfish sauce. It had the perfect amount of kick. Be advised, this is beer only but there is a liquor store like a block down and you can bring your own wine for a corking fee. Also, a very cool space with awesome music. read more

Found this gem on yelp (thank you yelpers!). If you're ever in West Point,MS or near there, you really should try this place. Beef prices seemed a little steep but seafood and chicken were on point. We had a cup of gumbo which would be a bowl at most other restaurants. Spicy without killing you hot. I had shrimp pasta, hubby had chicken with mushroom sauce and kiddo had kids chicken tenders. The kids meal could have been em entree there was so much. The breading was light and just made the chicken good. The pasta was on point--just thick enough to hold up to the creamy sauce. Sauce wasn't too rich but had loads of flavor and the blackened shrimp were just right. Topped it all off with bread pudding which was melt in your Mouth good and just sublime. Service was really good. We seemed to be closing the place down so I appreciate the attentiveness we got so close to Closing. Chase was our fearless leader and answered questions and was there when we needed him and didn't hover when we didn't. Great place and we certainly hope to come back! read more

I cannot explain it. Unassuming little country restaurant in a tiny town in north Mississippi. With the best food I've had in years (uh, I just returned from NYC where I ate big dollar food all week). Sure, people always say somebody's rolls are good. These rolls are from another planet. They can wreck your entree because you cannot stop eating them. Then the appetizer size gumbo is off the chart. Perfect texture and heat to compliment I swore I'd get more for dessert, but I was too stuffed. My blackened fish with crabmeat was superb, but candidly not on the same level as what I had going in (or had the bar been set impossibly high?). The waitress was perky and attentive and witty. No idea what the cost was. Don't care. Everybody at my table said the same thing. This place would dominate NOLA. I'm just shaking my head. I've been to West Point several times. We LOVE Anthony's!!! Best restaurant within 100 miles, hands down. West Point is a really small town. Lived here all my life. I don't care what day it is, if they are open it's going to be full of people... We might see a few people we know but the vast majority have made the drive specifically for Anthony's food, service, and atmosphere. Anthony's is truly a hidden gem in our little town. Their sister restaurant, The Ritz, which is only open for lunch in a location around the corner in an revamped old movie theater, catered my daughter's wedding. I would have never made it without Kirk!!!! He was beyond awesome!!! I couldn't have picked a better place for her reception. The same great food as the main restaurant, Anthony's. Is was about a year since I had gone to Anthony's. My husband and I are celebrating our each month since we got married this past November and this month I chose Anthony's. As always the food and service is great. I made a reservation and soon as we got there we were seated. We ordered the fried crawfish bits as an appetizer, for entrees I ordered the catfish with crawfish sauce with grits and potatoes and my husband order the creole steak with baked potato for both sides, and for dessert the bread pudding. We both enjoyed our food and dessert. My potatoes were not as hot as I liked and the waitress replaced them immediately and I was able to enjoy them with the rest of my entree.
