I am so glad Austin got an Anthropologie! It is a beautiful store that is well laid out. They carry clothing, some furniture and household accessories. They typically have a great sale selection at the very back of the store housed in it's own little room. Check on line before you b/c they might have things on sale on line that are still full price in the store. They do carry nice gift ideas that are the non clothing variety but they are pricey. I found a coffee table book there recently that I loved but didn't buy it because it was so expensive. I did find it through Amazon at half the price. The staff is hit or miss. I will usually walk around the store forever with piles of clothes in my arms to try on before someone ever comes to offer to start a dressing room if they ever do. But then once when they didn't have a top in my size they offered to find it from another store and have it mailed to my house at no charge. So the service is inconsistent at best. read more

Anthropologie is easily my favorite store. The clothes from here have a boutique-y feel and are very cute and unique, usually in the detail. However, it's incredibly overpriced. I personally make it a rule to never buy anything full price at Anthro. Which is actually not that hard because their sale section is usually awesome, fully stocked, and at least somewhat closer to the prices I would be willing to pay at any other store. This particular store has very helpful and friendly staff, a huge selection of merchandise (all laid out beautifully...well, until you walk into the sale section, then it's just racks surrounded by people trying to snag an embellished tank for $30 instead of the original $120) and plenty of seating in the dressing room for those who have impatient moms or boyfriends shopping with them. i'm also glad that finally anthropologie came to austin. seriously, bit pricey with their stuff, but very cool selection of clothing. the sale room could use a bit more AC, but is that the whole point? to keep people from buying sale items? that's what i thought ross used to do (the dressing rooms never had AC). very nice high ceilings makes it very 'comfy' to shop there. the san antonio store is smaller and doesnt have as high ceilings but has a bigger sale room!! i go to anthropologie like once every 2 months to check out what's new and see if i could get any good finds, but the last 3 times, i've left empty handed (too expensive!). the very first time i went, i did pick up a pair of joe's jeans for $25! read more

I've seen many complaints about the prices at this store before, but I definitely think the clothes/furniture/kitchen items/bedding/etc. are worth the buck. Everything is beautifully crafted, unique, and the clothes last beyond washes, unlike Free People for those of you who've experienced a garment fall out after handwashing. I also have never experienced a problem with their saleswomen, as far as I've seen and experienced, they're great at what they do and very helpful. I think the main difference between reviews is dependent on whether or not one can afford to buy. Yes, the clothes are expensive but if you're willing and able to shell out the money, then this place is heaven on earth. read more

Does anyone remember a warehouse sale in Austin probably around 2003 or 2004 that featured textiles and housewares from urban outfitters and anthropologie? One of my favorite shops in Austin or anywhere actually. If I have an event such as a wedding I always come to Anthropologie first b/c I am usually successful. Some days when I got to the little sale room in the back (which is the only place I go based on my budget) I find that everything fits and I love it and other days I find nothing at all! It is all or nothing there. Almost ever thing ends up going on sale there so if you like it keep going back or check the website for sales. read more

This is a lovely store and I've found many a wonderful item here. What puts a burr under my saddle and causes me to give three stars? A couple things: 1. I've had greeters at the door just about leap on me when I walk in with a bag to do a return. I think they think I'm carrying in a bag to try to shoplift or something...at least that's the impression I've gotten (and I don't appreciate it). 2. I had a problem with a return at this store once that caused me to need to contact their home office (who took my side and ended up sending me a gift certificate because the store had handled the situation so poorly). 3. The big one: the sales staff wads up purchases and stuffs them into the bag !!! I fight with myself not to snatch my lovely new items from the person and mutter, "I'll fold it myself, just stop!" This bugs me. I don't treat my clothes this way and I don't like it when someone else does before I've even had a chance to wear it. They need to be taught proper folding technique....I don't care if that's peasant-y and something only a GAP employee would do. I want my clothes presented beautifully. Other than that--the merch is great and it is a pretty store. Also, they tend to have really fun people working in the dressing room area so it is a joy to try on clothes there. read more

I had to do it. I had to walk into the super-expensive chain that sells concepts over quality. But this Anthropologie was a bit different than the others I've been to. It's larger, more fluid (it breathes!) and it looks more like a modern loft rather than a quaint vintage stable, or whatever they're going for. I found tons of books I'd love to own about fashion, and perfect Christmas gifts. I didn't overindulge though. I opted for the sale section (a pleasant surprise considering this store is brand new), where I found little mix-and-match perfumes called Alchemist and the perfect knit winter hat. I love the clothes here. I LOVE the housewares. They do have a sale room which is cool, but the prices are SO STINKING HIGH. I don't know. I'd rather not be broke in my golden years, but come Christmas time, I pick up some great gifts. It's worth a trip just to see their beautiful dishes. Do it. read more

My friends know this store as MY store. I love the style so much that I'm actually willing to pay full price for their clothes, and much of it is worth the price because the quality and detail is good. It is quite expensive though. I only buy stuff here when I want to treat myself to a good piece, and that's only about 5 times a year. Aside from the clothes, most of my jewelry is from here. It's the only place where I can find something funky, something delicate, something colorful -- pretty much a little bit of everything in terms of costume jewelry -- for a reasonable price (usually $24-50). It's a good gift shopping and home decor place too. I'll admit I stopped shopping here as frequently once I discovered Urban Outfitters on the drag (check out my review). They're owned by the same people, though, so the money is all going to the same place. I give this location four stars because I experienced one incident of bad service. I asked a sales associate if she could check the back for something. She looked busy but said she'd do it...and after waiting for over 15 minutes and figuring she wouldn't help me, I just left without buying the decorative monograms I wanted for my apartment -- then bought some similar ones at Urban Outfitters. haha. But in all seriousness, for all of you who are sales associates, your politeness makes a huge difference in whether customers make purchases. If she was too busy to help me, she should have asked another sales associate to help me. read more

I know the sale room is a big draw, but often there are missing buttons and other defects. Anthro is way overpriced especially for the quality. It is hit or miss when it comes to customer service. Most often than not the staf is not welcoming, unhelpful, and make you feel like you are putting them out by asking simple questions. Do they just have plain contempt for their job? I expect more from a place where I'd be paying $58-$70 for a thin, wonky shirt. This is Austin for god's sakes, whatever happened to good ol' hospitality. Seriously... read more

This is a fun place to shop. I didn't really find anything I felt compelled to purchase, but I got a lot of new ways of thinking about home decor. The clothes are fun & price range is, well, diverse, I guess. But what a lot of fun for shopping around in! I feel like Austin is a bit more edgy now! read more

This is a great Anthropologie location. I have been here MANY times, so this review is not based on just one or two visits. The sales associates, for the most part, know their way around Anthro's clunky computer system, and are quick and knowledgeable when it comes to returns, using the mobile POS, and other non-standard transactions. The manager that I encounter the most, Stephanie, is cheery, quick, and helpful. She has helped me out so many times in locating difficult-to-find pieces and placing orders. I also really like the staff at this location. I usually shop during regular workweek hours (usually a lunchtime M-F), and all but one or 2 are great with making conversation and being friendly and complimentary. I like that they also hire people in a variety of sizes and ages as sales associates. I've also had a good experience with using personal shopping services. I Love, love, love this company. This location in particular is my favorite!!!! The staff and management team have exquisite service. They are very patient, cooperative, well organized, and friendly. I definately do not, and will not, have buyers remorse at this N. Lamar location. I'm a hairdresser here in Austin with a Bachelors in Retail and a Minor in Restaurant, Hotel and Industrial Management, I think I'm adequate enough to recognize good service. 5 stars all the way!! read more

Anthropologie is amazing - the home accessories are slightly quirky, maintain a classic design, and 100% adorable, and the clothes are to die for. Sure, the prices are high, but the sale room has some of the best deals in town. One time, there was this pair of really nice tailored black corduroy pants, and I looked at the tag, and it read out "$140". I nearly fainted from shock, until I realized that the sale price from that was $20. I nearly fainted from shock again. It was insanely amazing. read more

Went in to buy some clothes for when i start teaching again in august (i always wait for a good sale because i cant really afford their full price). I had planned to not try anything on as an extra precaution because of COVID. I was even nervous to go in! When i entered, there was a hand sanitizing station and a rule that masks must be worn (yay!!). All of the employees were wearing masks and keeping their distance but were still so helpful! I was talking to an associate (cant remember her name) and she told me all sale items were final sale (so if i went home and tried them on and they didnt fit, i couldnt return them). I told her that i was nervous about using the dressing rooms. SHE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR ME! She told me that they're sanitizing the dressing rooms after each use AND steaming the clothes after someone tries them on! I was still sort of nervous so she went ahead and steamed all of the clothes i wanted to try on before i went in!! She was so thorough (spent probably 10 minutes doing this for me)! I felt incredibly safe trying on the clothes. When i went to check out, the woman at the cash register wiped everything down before i used it. It was BY FAR my best shopping experience during COVID. Their cloths are beautiful ! Their large is actually a large. They can be pricey but do not let that stop you. They have a great sale room and if you really look in the store you can find items reasonably priced for a store like this. Also, all my dishes and glasses come from here. read more

It is the first place I go...period. I would say product wise this is my Favorite Store. Always something unique, always something special..just what I like. Now I will say that every since the Domain Location opened..something terrible...terrible..terrible has happened at the North Lamar Store ( I won't even bother mentioning the Domain Location cause I've had better experiences at the Dollar Store-Seriously) Every single time over the past two years that I have been in this store I have had a negative experience due solely to the customer service. It's laughable at this point it's so bad. Hope it improves. Anthropologie North Lamar used to be a bad attitude, catty free place to shop. Now it has the roll your eyes, these customers are annoying me thing going on.....I like it the other way. Please clean your house. read more

Anthropologie is a beautiful boutique with many lovely things to look at, but this particular store has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a high end store. Not one of the several employees spoke to us, though my son and I were there quite a while. When we got in line (yes, a line on a Tuesday afternoon) the checker was asking a supervisor for help with a complicated return online. The supervisor was contemptuously dismissive of the young checker, telling her to "do it yourself," then rude and apathetic to the customer. She even told the customer she could just call online customer service herself! She also completely ignored the line, and then went to chat with another employee. She looked right at me, but rather than say, "we will be right with you," she kept on walking. We put our merchandise on a nearby shelf and walked out, right past her. She made no attempt to apologize or even say goodbye. I felt very bad for the young checker left with a line, the disgruntled customer who wanted the return, and no direction on how to make the call to expedite the online return. No employee should ever treat another that way, especially in front of customers. We will not be back. read more

Do NOT buy furniture from them. They only deliver through Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery (just go look at their reviews and you will see). After damaged walls, months of waiting and weeks of trying to schedule, I still don't have my furniture and it's another 3 weeks before they think they can make it. read more

I agree with everybody here that this is not a cheap place. But the majority of their clothes do fit very well, are unique, and very fashionable. Based on their catalog, I was under the impression that this is a store only for very young, edgy people. My impression totally changed once I tried their clothes. Few words about the Austin store: yes, I agree, it is a nice store but the products seem to fly off the shelves quickly, and many times I can't find the size/item when I go back in a few days. They know their market, so why they don't stock accordingly? The "SALE'" room is waaay too small and you always bump into other people (I wonder: a store that can afford a full-time designer doesn't know this, or do they deliberately designed it that way...) I have been in other Anthro stores in the country and they are far better in terms of available items and accessibility of the sale area. Clothes are worth more than 4 stars but because of the problems at the local store, I am giving it only 3 stars. read more

I just moved to Austin, Tx about two weeks ago. Anthropology is one of my favorite stores. This is the biggest location I have ever been to. I loved the store, location, and selection. However, the customer service was over the top. I spoke with a few girls who were on the floor organizing clothes and they were nice. When I went to the dressing room to try stuff on I was shocked at how pushy and involved the dressing room attendants were. They told me they wanted me to come out and show them what I try on. Even though I did not want to do this I felt pushed into it. The first dress I tried on was too big and the sleeves looked horrible. They did not have it in my size. Even though I told the attendant that I did not like how it looked on me and that it was too big, she kept repeating how great it looked on me and that I should get it! Every thing I tried on it did not matter how it looked they always said it looked great and that I should get it!! I felt completely uncomfortable and recognized that I was being lied to so they could make money. Horrible experience! read more

I ADORE their products. Mostly housewares is what i go for. sure its overpriced occasionally but who cares? Its gorgeous. I shop at this location at least once every two weeks. Always spend a couple hundred dollars and i just realized no one has ever spoken to me while i was shopping, The only reason i realized this was because for the first time,i was greeted last week and was shocked by it. No one ever acknowledges you . You cant even tell that people work there for the most part unless you are in the checkout line. The domain staff is excellent and amazing. The south location has just gone lazy it seems. From now on ill be going to the north location. Last time I went i assumed they had general hours and closed at nine. I was in there at 805 and the sales associate would walk behind me straightening everything i touched=i mean literally a foot behind me! and finally at 810( i was the last one in the store with a pile of stuff in my hands ready to buy) the associate walked up to me and said"were closed" and just stood there staring at me. I gave her my items told her i didnt want them anymore. Im a manager at a retail store and thats just not how you do buisness. The domain location will be getting my sales from now on. read more
