Worst customer service ever. They profile people and treat them differently. I found a pair of pants on one of the shelves and asked a representative where can I find other sizes she said let me see went looking in the sale rack didn't find others came back to tell me this was the last pair for FULL PRICE. Now I have been shopping at anthro for years and I know for a fact they can order any size of full priced items for you at the store. I love Pasadena and I used to love Anthropologie! However Ive never felt so profiled or accused as soon as I walked in the door. I came in to look for a New Year's Eve outfit and accessories to match. The store was relatively busier than usual, I got my items and accessories and went to the fitting rooms where I didn't see any fitting room attendant in sight. I saw another girl walk straight into a room so I proceeded to do the same since all the fitting room doors were open. I was all the way in my room putting my bags down when I heard an "EXCUSE ME!" In the most accusatory tone where MARY/MARYANNE whatever her name was *mind you i was already fully inside the fitting room* literally snatched the items from my hands as if I was a child who had done a bad deed. I immediately said "oh I've got it" and her response was "UHM LET ME HELP YOU" to where I replied "Im okay really" and she said "mhhhmm *chuckles* yeah" then I said "that was kind of rude." And she took my items away and walked away .. I told her I wanted to try them on and she only left the clothes and when I stated I wanted to try on the accessories and hats for my full outfit she said "*SCOFFS* NO." I've never felt so accused or profiled in my entire life. I told the manager what had happened after as I was teary eyed and so embarassed I didn't even want to purchase the items. This was one of my favorite stores that sadly I'll never be coming back to. There's another review I also read before writing this about how she was followed as well, this store just needs to do better. read more

Sadly, I am going to be one of many to give Anthropologie Pasadena a single star- if I could I would rate this store a 0 star since I felt the service almost bordered to a racist level. I simply wanted to return an item I had bought that did not suit my daughter for whom I had bought the top. The Sales associate (#196930) was so absolutely demeaning- she began by asking my cell number and when it did not match an act I offered my email for my Anthropologie account. This associate denounced me loudly by saying " it doesn't matter" since the refund will be based on my credit card. She then proceeded to to read out my credit card last 4 digit and as I tried to look it up she said "it doesn't matter" it already went through - she then had access to my name and email number and yet asked for my name and I tried to show her my name on my credit card she dismissed me by saying" I don;t need your credit card, just spell your name" and then proceeded to spell my email address out loudly so everyone around us could hear her. I finally told her I had never been treated so poorly at Anthropolgie and she proceeded to fumble and throw my card on the counter and said " Iam sorry but it's been a long day". I really felt as a white person she felt she could dish her frustrations publicly at me due to my color; I simply had say "OK" since i did not want to reduce myself to her level. The saddest part is that everyone looked at her quitely without being able to say anything. Shame on Anthropologie for allowing such horrible treatment get away. I have been coming to Anthropology in Old town for many years but never again. I'll take my business to Glendale and hope all the other reviews with 1 star will be noticed by the Anthropologie headquarters so they can make changes or close the store! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience at this location. The staff was super sweet and I got a killer deal thanks to a wonderful hook up. The new location is awesome and this sales are really decent for beautiful clothing. I also loved the selection of home goods especially the dishes. read more

I just wanted to thank both the store manager & the sales associate for being so patient with my yesterday. I had ordered 2 items online to be picked up at the store. One never shipped & they worked very hard to figure out what was going on with the order. They also called customer service on my behalf to get the dress that I ordered (which was never going to arrive- but that's an online sale issue, of which there are many) officially cancelled and an e-credit for my gift card balance that was not used. I happened to find the dress that I had ordered in the store on the sale rack & they matched the discounted price that I was scheduled to pay online for the original order. When asked for help was completely ignored, waited in line for 20 minutes while the ladies behind the register laughed it up with one another while not doing their job. When asked someone if they had portable system they said yes but nothing they can do. Even though IT WAS IN HER HAND, maybe start ringing up other people with the mobil? Thats a thought. New location in Old Town Pasadena! The location is pretty big and has two entrances and is just gorgeous (isn't everything in Anthropologie??). Obviously the only bad part about Anthropologie is that it's hugely expensive ($100 for a sleep shirt?? $45 for bubble bath?). But everything is so charming and whimsical. I pretty much only shop in the sale section. However, this time I managed to find a pretty spoon rest ($12) and a nice candle ($10) that were reasonably priced. Awe, I love Anthropologie. Tip: It's easier to troll the sale section online than in stores. read more

This is my go-to Anthro store. The team that manages this store are delightful and great. This store has more of a spread out space than compared to their Lake store. From time to time, they have events and it's well organized. Absolutely love them here! Bad customer service. Sales associate who was standing near the entrance was super rude. It make it very difficult to return item that was broken so easily. Anthropologie is cute and I like the style of this brand, but in fact none of the purchase that I have ever made last long in many ways. had a very racist experience at this location. first was never greeted by anyone in the store then as i was looking at sale section a white worker with short blonde hair ( who i assume was a manager and gave off a really bitchy vibe) was walking another customer to the area that i was in, as i was STILL LOOKING the worker asked me to move out of the way as the white customer needed something from the bin that i was still looking through. honestly it was really disgusting. the worker could have handled everything much better. never coming here again plus all their stuff lately has been really ugly and tacky. read more

After moving to this location, I feel like Pasadena's Anthro has lost its charm. The layout of the store is very strange. Sale section is a tiny area that's cramped. I'm so disappointed in this store. Never will I return. Apparently there was a event going on for August Birthdays. The greater in the front of the store, asked if we were part of the event...and we said "no were just shopping" and she said "we are having a event, food and drinks are for guest only" she said this to us in front of other "guest". It was embarrassing to walk around the store as if we were intruding. Having worked in retail, at every event ever hosted we would never say a comment in front of other customers. Wish there was a zero star option. Just got home from the Pasadena, CA location. I have always had a good experience at this location with the exception of today. While standing in line to make a sizeable purchase, I saw a "Clean" hand sanitizer which I tried. I asked the employee helping me if the store had any more (because the one I tried appeared to be a sample and the only one I could find.) I was told by another employee (in an abrupt voice), to whom I was not speaking, that they did not have any more for purchase and that the one I tried was not a sample. I stated that I just used it (as I thought it was a sample) and was told that while I may have used it, it was not a sample. In today's climate, with stores closing by the day and people generally not spending money, this person should have remembered she worked in a customer-service oriented trade and had a better attitude with me. I am on my way back to the store to return all the merchandise I purchased as I would prefer to spend my money at an establishment that appreciates its customers. read more

I love Anthropologie clothing, I love the store design. I used to be a manager for Anthro and it was one of the worst companies. The employees are stepford wives cliquish and unless you follow suite and talk the same way, act the same way and dress the same way you will never feel like part of a team. Clothing is way over priced and it's all knock offs and mostly private labels. I've never had a problem with service in this store and I love the merchandising efforts. Never work here. Over the last year I have consistently experienced issues with customer service at this location. It seems to be coming from the top down. Most recently, I picked up an on-line purchase and decided not to get one of the items. Although I stated my intention I was charged in full, and was dismissively told "sorry you'll have to come back tomorrow because I can't do a return of an on-line item the same day." I recently mentioned my disappointment with Pasadena to a salesperson at another Anthropologie location. She shared having a similar experience at this location. I visited this Anthro today for the first time. (Like many of us, I have shopped several in Ca, and NY) I had ordered many items (I mean a ton of stuff!!) to be picked up here at the store. My plan was to try on the items and buy what fit and was still within my budget. Well this trial system that the Pasadena store has the *luck* to be the beta site for (poor employees, really!), did not work as I expected. When I arrived all the items were brought out, then they had to be logged into the system as picked up by me (even if I just wanted to try them on first), and charged to my card. Then I could take them, try them on, and return what I did not want. This process is quite cumbersome and time consuming for the sales associates (by no fault of theirs at all, by the way). Well, Rachael helped from start to finish. She is not only a lovely looking young lady, but even better, her attitude was just as lovely. She was kind, patient, and so understanding and helpful. Even though I did not have any help back in the dressing rooms, I would still shop this Anthro because Rachael was just so wonderful to deal with (and I'm sure other sales associates are, too). Overall, the size of the store is nice, although it's not a large Anthro (even for S. Cal). They have a reasonable balance of home and clothing. This may sound strange, but I really liked the dressing room area and the dressing rooms themselves. I was in a room with beautiful wood floors, lots of hooks, a seat and shelf, and best of all, old exposed red brick. I just loved the environment! Finally, they will certainly have a great selection of sale items and online items since they are the trial store for this new shipping system. Great store, sweet helpful employees for the most part. Remember, just don't blame the employees for Anthro's new systems/policies. read more

I love Anthropologie products and the merchandising execution. I'm a store manager for a retail company and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of the retail world. I know what customer service is supposed to look and feel like from both prospectives. Of the almost 20 adulthood years shopping at Anthro I've only had a few bad experiences shopping with them. A few I understood (short staffed, POS issues, Christmas lines,etc...) but Customer Service is the one thing that every retailer has control over so I don't let this type of issue slide. Tonight I came in to do an exchange. I had no receipt since it was a gift. I checked online prior to coming in to see if it was still current since I received it earlier this month. I walked in with it gift wrapped in tissue and in a bag and immediately went straight to the cash wrap so no one thinks I stole it. Long story short, the atmosphere was very unwelcoming, I was given a hard time exchanging this item eventhough she found the original purchase, I was never greeted or asked if I needed help from entering to exiting and I was here for 30mins. I was followed by two associates but never even spoken to eventhough there was other guests next to me...just followed! Once i did check out the girl was so condescending when she asked me if I had an Anthro reward. I told her of course and proceeded to give her my birthday coupon. She asked to see my ID. Its a coupon not a credit card. I was shocked that she asked me. I even questioned when they started doing this because just the other day I was given a coupon from a friend that she didnt use and I used it at a different Anthro and NEVER got asked for my ID. I was so shocked disturbed about it that I called another Anthro tonight and asked if they did that and they said no. So my gut feeling was right. I WAS being racially profiled. I can't believe it! I don't shop here for the clothes just for the home and beauty items so many of these items are not exclusive to them. So its easy to go elsewhere. Now I think I might start doing this. I'm not quite sure If this is a new location or I just never noticed it before, but I really like this Anthropologie! I like the layout of the place a lot, it's arranged in mini rooms/sections which I think gives it a more unique experience while you're shopping. I want to live here! I love every single thing in this store!! The candles are amazing and smell incredible. They have this cucumber mint (grapefruit maybe) lotion there that's super soft. Bought gifts there but next time I'm def shopping for myself. If you want personal service or an employee to pay attention to you; greet you, ask if you need help or finding everything ok- well you won't get that here. One person said hello as they were hanging clothes and walked away. My sis and I walked around the entire store and not once did anybody ask if we needed help (which we did). We simply just needed to be pointed to a particular set of candles, which we ended up finding on our own because we literally walked around the entire store to find them. I love this store - it is a bit pricey but my favorite place to splurge on gifts for my girlfriends. You can always find something unique! I like this new location equally as much as I liked the previous one on Lake. The sales team is super friendly and always willing to help out. Layout is very unique and spread out (you may want to wear walking shoes!) but beautiful and I find it helpful to see things laid out the way you might want to model your home. read more

Terrible experience with customer service by the manager Sarah who was condescending and down right rude. Training needed. Been shopping at Anthro for years, and never had such poor customer service. Was making a return with my receipt but no tag and she said she wasn't able to accept the return because she couldn't be sure whether or not I used the belt (which was in perfect condition). I'm sorry, she needs to brush up on Anthro return policies. She then started talking about theft prevention and how people will just wear clothes with tags still attached and then return items worn. So I guess I'm one of those thrives to watch out for I guess. Yet, that same night I watched as another employee accepted a return that the customer said she washed and it shrank and what did they do? They just retagged the item to resell! Great store with great staff...except for one manager, Riley, who ruined what shopping at Anthropologie embodies. I had ordered an item (one!) for in store pick up. I went to the store, made some returns, and totally forgot to pick up my item. When I get home, I call right away to request an extension as I could stop by in two days. Riley didn't bother to ask how many items I had, and just kept telling I need to go back today or tomorrow to pick up the item because they don't have the capacity to keep items for so long. So it will just be canceled. What? I'm asking you to keep it for one more day! Anyway, she sounded so unhelpful that I said okay, let them cancel the order then because I was so annoyed. She tagged along and said, okay let them cancel it. Wow! I've been a long term customer and this is a first. The corporate office should look into hiring more competent managers who understand what customer service means when shopping at Anthropologie. Thank you Riley for saving me $100+!!!! read more

Yes, I agree with some of the reviews here and seriously thought maybe it was just me. Well, I love the organic and vintage feel to Anthropologie as a whole and have been to many stores but this location does not meet my minimum standards to being treated like a valued customer. Whenever you're in Portland, check out that location. It's impressive along with the customer service. Newport Beach is pretty nice too. Since they've moved from the Lake location, it's gone downhill. The employees at the old location were friendly and had more character. The layout of the store is not ideal. I started a conversation with one of the employees about how I liked the Lake location more then she said something about needing a bigger store and when they found out a Pet Food Express was opening next door at the time was when they made the decision to relocate because it was not the aesthetic they were looking for. AESTHETIC? What are you? A museum? This isn't Rodeo Drive! Anyways, if you don't want to be annoyed, shop online or visit the above mentioned locations. read more
