This is our third trip to Rome. Tonight, the staff at this restaurant made us feel like family while steering us to amazing food. The prices and portions for Central Rome were very generous. We started with the focaccia served with olive oil and balsamic for the table. It set the mood. For appetizer we did artichoke and bresola. Every member of the table loved it. The entrees were great. If they are having the mushroom special --get it. It was one of my top 5 things I've ever eaten in Italy. The pumpkin truffle ravioli and mussels were also super stars. The sea bass was fresh and had good flavor though the potatoes were cold and one of the filets was a little drier than I would've like but still tasty. Save room for dessert. Our table sampled tiramisu, panna cotta, blueberry and elderberry cake and the fresh lemon almond biscotti. OMG best biscotti ever. What you also need to know is this. We showed up as 5 Americans who spoke no Italian with 2 teens and a grandmother in a wheelchair and they treated us like the most important guests ever. Bottom line: it's pretty, it's tasty and they treat you right. You know, if you like that sort of thing...

After a long flight, we just wanted a light snack since we were going to hit the hay soon. The front desk receptionist recommended Tritone. We started off with the artichoke, split an order of the spaghetti carbonara, and then our waiter talked us into the tiramisu. So glad he did, it was the bomb! He was very generous with the cream on top and that made it even better. Happy we split the carbonara because it was the perfect amount to share. Comfort food at its best on a rainy night. The complimentary limoncello hit the spot too!

3.5 stars, a solid meal but not the best pasta I've had in Rome. An establishment, this place has been around since 1884. We had the garlic focaccia (ok with extra olive oil), carbonara (not enough egg in the sauce/not rich enough), all'amatriciana (favorite pasta here esp with bucatini), and the bresaola (delicious). Service was slow but didn't affect the meal too much, except when trying to pay the check/leave.

During a lunch break between our Vatican and Colosseum tour, we got caught in a torrential downpour. Upon hailing a cab to simply get out of the rain, our cab driver recommended this restaurant to us, saying it was one of his local favorites. He called to ask if they were able to accommodate us- and without hesitation they allowed us to come in (despite their entire staff- both the waiters and the chef- eating their lunch at a table when we arrived). The outside of the restaurant is gorgeous, covered in ivy and bougainvilleas (can't even imagine how romantic it is at night). The inside of the restaurant is very cozy, covered in tiles and arches, with chili peppers, pots and pans, and meat hanging from the ceiling. We ordered the pici carbonara and the ravioli with black truffles- both of which were delicious!!! Not sure which dish I enjoyed more. Both service, food, and location were perfect, would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!!

    Lamb meatballs loved every bite

Just a great meal. It's off the madness of Trevi, but close enough to see it and take pictures then have a civilized meal 5 minutes away. We went on a beautiful night and sat outside. Perfect and intimate. We had the carafe of wine, great value and delicious. The bread arrived hot and about three different varieties. All fantastic. We both had an entree with these artichoke dishes that were the best dish ever. Baked with olive oil and lightly salted. Unreal. I had the lamb meatballs which came with some mashed potatoes. Wow!!! My wife loved her prawns. But the star of the night was the fresh tiramisu. Melt in your mouth goodness. Best I've ever had. The service was on point and roman fun!!! Loved this place from the moment I arrived!! Bravo!

    Seabass with roasted potatoes

Great experience after a long struggle of finding a good quality food in a touristic part of Central Rome. Excellent ossobuco, seabass with potatoes, calf liver, roasted potatoes, and chicken Roman style. Will definitely visit for the third time in a row. Homelike cooking and generous portions. Didn't take photo of other dishes as they were eaten way too fast

I'm pretty sure this is mostly a tourist restaurant, and a bit pricy... BUT! During lunch, ask for the "Menu della Casa"... 13 euro for a 4-Course lunch! :D Salads...pretty standard Lasagna...yum! Totellini in Mushroom sauce...yum! Roasted Chicken...yum! Thin Beefsteak...yum! Chocolate fruit tart...yum! By any standard, this is an awesome dealio and worth trying if you're in the area, which you probably will be if you're walking between the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. However, we did notice that as more people asked for this lunch deal, the staff started pretending it didn't exist. WTF?

    Fettuccine fungi.
    Adrienne L.

I was looking forward to eating here after reading such good reviews but unfortunately was very disappointed. We ordered the melon and prosciutto for a starter and then a carbonara, fettuccine fungi and the veal meatballs as a main course. The meatballs were not what we were expecting - they were super small in size (slight larger than a gum ball) and came out cold, mushy and flavourless, and the tomato sauce that covered it tasted like it came out of a can. The carbonara wasn't any better - it was super heavy and gritty tasting. It almost felt like we were eating a bad fettuccine Alfredo as it arrived with a huge goop of white sauce on top. The fettuccine fungi was decent, thought my husband commented that I only felt that way bc everything else was so bad. Perhaps it was just a bad night for the chef but I was quite disappointed with the food.

Good... but so is most every place in Rome. We arrived late one night and just spotted the place on a whim. The host asked if we had reservations. We said no, so he sat us inside and delivered us each a glass of complimentary wine. (Aperitifs are, like, a thing in Italy.) In time, a table outside opened up, so we were ushered out there. Our waiter, God bless him, seemed in a terrible hurry the entire night. As I discussed wine with my girlfriend, she asked him, "How is your rosé?" "Rosé!" he said, and wheeled away. He came back with the rosé and started pouring. We learned pretty quickly that saying *anything* in this guy's presence meant that we were ordering it. I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was nice, but nothing incredible. My girl had some sort of pasta with dried chili peppers inside. She hates spicy stuff, but I love it... so I tried one. I'm still panting, a week later. At least one waiter made a point of singing while grinding pepper for neighboring tables. But it seemed like he was mocking his guests, not legitimately performing. F that guy. A nice touch: When you're finished with your meal, they give you a souvenir ashtray. Because it's Rome and everybody smokes all the time. Trattoria Tritone is fine if you're in the neighborhood, but it's hard to believe it's your best option. (It was also the most expensive dinner I ate in Rome. Total damage for two plates of pasta and a bottle of wine - $77.42)

    Linguini with lobster

Stumbled on this trattoria on our way to Trevi fountain. Lots of choices on the menu! We ordered linguini with lobster and the mixed fish plate with 1/2 carafe of house white wine. All delicious. Service was very good. Atmosphere authentic italian. Warm and inviting. Only a few tables on the patio and all full so we sat inside. Warm and inviting. Affordable with entrees at 12 to 28 euros average

Excellent Italian restaurant in the center of the city. We got the seafood pasta and the fettuccine w porchinni mushrooms for lunch. Both dishes were light. The fettuccine seems to be handmade compared to the pasta that came with seafood. Prosciutto w melons was delicious as well. The Italian Rose paired well with both.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
