This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Carson. They make the tastiest Mex in the area. Good service and I like that you can sit at the high top table and watch them cook! Very friendly! Excellent service!

We visited Antojitos La Jefa on the recommendation of our neighbors. Off we went ! We went for breakfast but their menu offered a wide variety of options, with delicious sounding tacos and other magical treats. For me, the tortilla chips and salsa are a good litmus test of how the food is going to be. All I can say is the chips were AMAZING. Crisp and flavorful. These chips were clearly homemade. The salsa was meh, but the chips were amazing. On this day, we were taken care of two wonderful Latina's, which added to the authenticity of the experience. I overheard our waitress saying she was from Mexico City. Legit. Our friends ordered the Sopas and Birria "soup". The Sopas looked amazing, with a hand formed tortilla and served with a variety of proteins. Our friend ordered the carnitas and chorizo, to have a couple of flavors to sample. She said that the tortilla was bit different than "her mom would make" but did not take away anything from the dish. Her husband had the Birria "soup". I don't know if that was the official name but that's what it looked like. LOL. Served in a rich broth (not oily) were wonderfully seasoned, tender chunks of Birria beef. Whenever a Mexican restaurant offers Menudo for breakfast, I'm down. Menudo it was. This dish was served with Tripe only, lacking the familiar hominy in the dish. I came to understand, the inclusion of hominy varies, depending on where in Mexico the recipe comes from. Well, all right, now I know. The kiss of death of Menudo is if the soup is "oily". No oily broth here. The dish was perfect, served all the normal accoutrement, including onions, cilantro and oregano. Now about the tortillas. We were told that the tortillas were hand made. O-M-G. These were the most delicious corn tortillas I have ever had. I couldn't stop eating them. OMG. Last but not least, my wife ordered the breakfast burrito. She ordered it with bacon instead of the normal Chorizo. Her breakfast burrito was legit. I don't know how they prepared their potatoes but man-o-man were they good. The burrito is also served with Mexican Queso. SO GOOD. The cheese added creamy goodness to the burrito. What a great meal. The restaurant is small but super clean and the staff were amazing. We are looking forward to sampling more of the menu. Que Bueno

This place is soooooo good. Definitely a gem!! Would highly recommend. The service was amazing also.

Tacos Dorados- I took a bite before the pic... I couldn't resist!

Wow! An unexpected experience! The outside of the building gives no indication of the amazing food that waits within!! We are out-of-towners and were desperate for Mexican food. This place had good reviews so we took a chance. We ate the absolute best tacos we've ever had! No disappointment here!

The tacos were great! Made with home made tortillas and large for size. I ordered 3 Al pastor and 2 carne asada for my daughter. The only reason I knocked down a star was because the lady serving us couldn't hear me because the music was too loud and she came off rude when asking what I wanted on the tacos. I don't expect to be treated like royalty when I go out to eat, absolutely not, but it would be nice to be served by someone who doesn't have an attitude. If I come back, I'd call for pick up.

    Pollo burrito 'with everything'.

Super clean, nice service, great (huge) burritos! The hubby and I picked up 2 burritos to go from this cute, little place: pollo and carne asada. There were several choices of meat that were 'authentic' choices, but I'm not brave with meat. Would have liked to have seen carnitas though. The burritos were huge, flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I saw the chef walk by with a big bowl of masa. Next time I'll try the tacos or sopes, to sample that stuff! The breakfast looks enticing too.

Ambiance: Relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with Mexican-inspired décor and cultural touches throughout the restaurant. There was a steady flow of guests, giving the place a lively but comfortable feel. Restrooms: Clean and decent, although a bit outdated. Service: Friendly but somewhat disorganized, possibly because we had a large group. The waitress initially told me the bartender was busy, but later realized she had never entered my drink order. She apologized and removed it from the bill. She also brought the wrong entrée for one of my friends but corrected it promptly. On a positive note, she graciously accommodated another friend's custom drink request even though it wasn't on the menu. Chips & Salsa: The first basket is complimentary. We were told additional baskets normally have a charge, but during our visit we were offered unlimited refills. Food: Fresh, authentic, and generously portioned. Recommended dishes: Salmon Atlántico, Fish Tacos, Artichoke Dip, Enchiladas, and Bistec.

Nice and crispy, served with rice and beans. A satisfying dish. My husband got the fajitas with steak. Their portions are huge and the amount of meat they gave him was definitely a value with what they charged. I also, had the best horchata there. Not too sweet and perfectly balanced with just enough cinnamon. The best item I had there. The 2 items not worth getting is the shrimp tostada. Literally a boring ice berg lettuce salad with cold shrimp filled in a tortilla bowl. And their choco-flan. The cake part was dry and hardly tasted chocolate. However, the flan layer was pretty good. Maybe just order the flan. This is an old place that could definitely use a renovation. The place over all is just dirty. Everything needs an upgrade.
