Came for a quick lunch and we liked it a lot! I ordered the green enchiladas and my husband got three tacos My enchiladas were delicious and came with three! Most places only have 2. The green sauce was very tasty. My husband got the al pastor tacos and said they were some of the best he's had. Both plates came with rice and beans. We also got a flan to split for dessert and it was great! The texture was different than im used to. More cakey and less gelatin texture. It was really good. Pretty good first visit to Taqueria La Salsa. We were craving some tacos, and this place served us up some very classic street tacos! Located off of HWY 50/Williams St, Taqueria La Salsa is a small Mexican joint offering many classic Mexican-American staples. We ordered street tacos and a kids' quesadilla. Honestly, the food is just ok. The tacos were flavorful, and the beans and rice were classic Mexican-American; however, the tacos were also quite small, even for street tacos, and the quesadilla was very bland. I felt at first the prices were very reasonable, but after tax and tip, the total didn't come out to be that much less than other Mexican restaurants in the area. Service was ok, but nothing special. We did not feel especially welcomed. I definitely got vibes that this place has a lot of regulars. Overall, I think this place is great, but I also think there are many just as good spots for Mexican food in Carson City and the surrounding areas. read more

While traveling back from Reno to Carson City, we searched for an authentic Mexican food restaurant. Upon searching Yelp and Google, we found Taqueria La Salsa off the highway. Understandably, there was a caveat in the menu that prices are subject to change without notice, due to the cost of produce and doing business. I noted that there was only one refill of soda for the kid's and refills of chips was $1.99 (listed in the menu) That said, we ordered our usual quesadilla, wet bean and cheese burrito and kids' meal - and I tried their # 2 fish taco special with rice and beans. The first problem was the "bowl" of chips arrived at the table, only half full - which I mentioned to the server. No response. The second problem is our bean and cheese burritos was ordered "wet" (with red enchilada sauce over the top) and arrived plain. When they brought it back 10 minutes later, the sauce was cold and the burrito was lukewarm. Third, my fish tacos arrived cold - along with lukewarm beans and rice, which was disappointing. Across the board, the portions were small for the price, which was another disappointment. Honestly, everything about the meal was less than appetizing and we won't be back anytime soon. The ONLY thing that came out fresh and was enjoyable - was the margarita on the rocks. I urge the owners to review this feedback and make some changes if you want to attract more patrons in the future. I'm sorry to have to share this with you, but I would be remiss if I didn't speak my mind. Our bill was $56 including tip - and I felt as though El Pollo Loco would've been a better choice for the money - right across the street! read more

I drove out of my way to try the tacos here and they are solid! Always on the hunt for authentic street tacos, I was pleasantly surprised to find them here at taqueria la salsa. Though the atmosphere is nothing to write home about we got the tacos to go and we're far from disappointed. The pastor, carnitas and carne asada tacos were fantastic. Mi favorito lugar! (My favorite place!) This place feels and tastes like home! Authentic Mexican food with a side of American (haha)! I love that they always have specials when we come here. Today I ordered three tacos with my choice of meat, with a side of rice and beans for $8 and some change. It was delicious and filling. My daughter had an American dish (chicken nuggets and fries) from the kids menu, and it was also really good! My husband had the al pastor entree with rice and beans. His plate was so big it looked like he can make 10 tacos with that amount of meat! Their horchata was good too. We were definitely satisfied! The service is very attentive and friendly. For music, they played corridos from Sinaloa and my daughter was loving it! She said "Mom! I like this music!" I felt for a moment that a camera man was going to walk by and record us.. it felt like I was at a quinceañera party the food was so good! I feel like I only get to eat it at parties HAHAHA! Absolutely horrible food from start to finish. It's amazing how restaurants stay open and they can't make chips that aren't rockhard or a steak quesadilla. Steak was barely existent, cheese was thin. We went to celebrate my sisters birthday. We were ordering and asked the waitress about a difference of prices between the menus. She said she would ask. So the owner came out and showed us that the menu clearly states that prices are subject to change. He was very rude and walked off. We didn't get to finish ordering. The owner finally came back to finish taking our order. Again, he was rude. Never came back to check after our food was brought. Never was asked if we needed refills on our drinks and my sister had to flag the waitress down to ask for something they forgot to bring. The food was good, not great. Al Pastor tacos are some of the best I've had. The salsa is also very good. Definitely recommend this restaurant in Carson City.

I got the carne asada nachos and they were perfect. It was a perfect topping to chip ratio as there was only about 10-12 chips on the plate so every chip was covered. They were also extremely generous on the toppings so when I ran out of chips I still had toppings left over instead of running out of toppings and still having chips, which is the worst. read more

I get back there and tell her I just want my money back and she refused and blamed me for taking the wrong order.. My burrito was cold and soggy and wasn't even what I ordered.. The salsa was a little on the watery side for me but still lots of flavor. I ordered 3 chicken tacos. The chicken was well spiced and seasoned, the salsa was flavorful and the toppings were just right. We ordered from Taqueria La salsa it was $8.99 for the nachos with no meat barely any pico de gallo they charged me two extra dollars for two tiny cups of pico. they told us it would feed two people and it's not even enough food for one person. We also ordered a chimichanga and they did not give us a knife to cut the food with being on the road with no silverware is impossible to eat a chimichanga with a little plastic fork when we called the gentleman at the front desk was very argumentative. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla and they were so delicious. The food in general was very good. My family really enjoyed it. The only thing I could complain about was that the tortillas weren't cooked all the way. And something they could do to improve is to make better salsas and have more of a variety of them. read more
