I ordered camarones de mojo de ajo-this disgusting gelatinous science fiction monster arrived. The shrimp were previously frozen and tough as hell. This restaurant claims to be authentic. I have never been so horrified and insulted by a dish. The cook needs to be smacked by the last 30 generations of grandmas in his line. If he's Mexican at all-I sincerely doubt any heritage cooking went into this fresh hell. Whomever created this dish I want you to sit and eat it sober. If you don't vomit then I will be shocked. Dinner for 14!! We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Waitress was with us quickly. Drinks were ordered and delivered promptly. She took our orders carefully noting any special requests. Our dinners were wonderful and served as closely timed as you could get 14 dinners. Waters and non-alcoholic drinks were kept filled. Professional and friendly service. The food was very good all the way around. I especially liked my mole enchiladas. They deserve a 5 star rating. My best friend and I were excited to eat here since we hadn't since they first opened. By the end of our visit we were saddened by our decision to eat here. We were sat (not really greeted) immediately when entering. The restaurant is large and well lit. There is a good amount of seating available. When at our booth, the woman who sat us took our drink order and quickly returned with chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and lightly salted. The salsa was smooth with a low heat level. To eat, I had the Taco Salad (ground beef) and my best friend had #11 (Chile Relleno & Carne Asada Taco). My Taco Salad was decent in flavor but it was mostly meat and beans-very little lettuce. My best friend's #11 was extremely disappointing. The taco was flavorful and large in size. The chile relleno was uneatable. The relleno is covered in a very thick egg batter. On top of being super thick, the egg batter was super sweet. It was so bad she couldn't even choke down a 2nd bite. The rice and beans that it came with were seasoned well and delicious. For dessert we had the Fried Ice Cream. It was a standard Fried Ice Cream. After this experience, and leaving 1/2 of one of our meals behind due to it being uneatable, we decided to take this restaurant off of our "to eat at" list. read more

Went to try them for lunch one day. First off the place was very clean, staff friendly. Our waiter was great and on top of everything. I opted for the chili relleno combo plate which was amazingly one of the better I've had around here which came with 1 enchilada to which I opted for the ground beef. It's so hard to find decent ground beef in mexican restaurants as they all want to do the shredded which is not my preference. So this was really good. Hubby opted for the 2 enchiladas, 1 beef and 1 cheese to which he loved them both. Choice of beans and rice. They do have a small lunch menu which is 9.99 a plate and come with 1 item, rice and beans. You have to ask for the lunch menu. We stop in here after a day of shopping about once a month. The food is yummy. Bright and big restaurant and bar, with plenty of booths and seating. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It's the usual mexican fare, and it's higher than some, and less than some. I have had the chimi and the Pozole (every weekend all day!) The guac is homemade, and I normally don't eat the chips and salsa, but I do like it here. We usually have margarita's, but the last time we were in they were off, and we aren't sure why. (which is why I took one star) Plenty of parking, and close to everything. Great for families, or date night. Go enjoy! read more

Stayed at the hotel across the street from this place. Was craving some decent food. We opted to try la Posada and I was quite impressed. Any other similar style food in town has not been that good. My asada plate was spot on how i wanted the meat cooked, beans and rice were great. My child opted for a quesadilla and my Mom ordered the shredded beef taco and one enchilada. Our only mistake made by our waiter was the taco turned out to be chicken but the food was still most excellent. Our server was Abel who was very kind and patient. After visiting La Posada on a few occasions now, I believe it's safe to say the food rocks and is definitely a great choice for Mexican food in Carson! First visit there, I sat at the bar and had a margarita and some Pozole. The Pozole comes out by itself so if you'd like tortillas, cabbage, cilantro or onion to go with it, you definitely have to ask. It would be better IMO if it just came with it already, it would save the wait staff a trip. The soup comes in a big bowl and is full of pork and hominy! With the extras I asked for, it was perfect. The second visit I ordered a Shrimp Fajita burrito. It comes out with sauce on top and is served with rice and beans. The burrito is amazing! I loved the flavor and it's a big burrito filled with fajita veggies and big shrimp. I will order this again someday. Lastly I ordered the Fajitas Colonial and shared them with my sons grandma. They were AMAZING. Definitely enough to share or have some left overs...or just eat the whole thing if you're really hungry! My son ordered Nachos for his entree. We ate those and the fajitas and it was perfect. I also got a Michelada with it! Beer with lime juice, tomato or Clamato juice, and other sauces with a tajin/chili and salt lined cold glass.
