Cheese tasting on a boat!
Gurpreet L.

I was already head over heels for the class experience at their Hyde Park location but then saw that they offered cheese cruises! I wish I could give them 10 start for I had so much fun (and so much wine). The pairings were delicious, the hosts were fabulous, the wine was flowing, and the views were to die for. I can't wait for my next cheese

Such an incredible experience! Antonelli's cheese tasting was the perfect mix of fun and education. The hosts were engaging, knowledgeable, and made the whole evening feel so welcoming. We not only learned a ton about cheese, but also met some amazing people along the way. It felt intimate, well-curated, and genuinely memorable. Highly recommend for a unique night out in Austin!

OMCheese! Whenever we're having a gathering or need to take something to a party, this is where we come for all things cheese. Heck, this is where we come when we just want to eat cheese on the car ride home. I kid you not. They are hands down some of the best cheese experts I have ever come across. I love that they are able to provide so much detail about every product they have. The region it's from, how it's made, what pairs best, everything you need to know about cheese, they can tell you. Quality, quality, quality. The shop is super cute and welcoming. It makes me feel like I am back in France.

I stopped by for the first time today--and wow, they have incredible cheese! Stephanie was amazing. She greeted us right away and asked if we were looking for anything specific. We weren't, really, but she smiled and said, "No pressure," letting us know we were welcome to sample anything that caught our eye. And yes, we definitely found some standouts. Every cheese I tried was legit--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. I had a few favorites, some imported from Europe and others from domestic farms. Each one had amazing texture and depth. They also have little sample bites ready to go in the display fridge just to the left of the entrance, and they're happy to cut small portions if that's what you need. It's a super friendly, professional place--and absolutely worth a visit if you love good cheese.

Took part in the cheese tasting for "taste of the holidays" and had a great experience. I loved the set up inside but we were put in the annex area and I feel that took away from the experience a little as it was right by the bathroom and away from most of the other people. I'd suggest booking fewer people. But the tasting itself was amazing - the folks were super knowledgeable about the cheese and the pairings and love the wine options available as an add on. I would definitely come back for another one!

We did the signature cheese tasting with wine pairing and it was delicious! Ample parking and really nice space. All of the pairings were wonderful and super good cheeses. The staff was very knowledgeable and able to accommodate dietary restrictions as well! We left super full so you definitely get a ton of food, and they give to-go boxes at the end if you can't finish it all :) definitely recommend for a fun night in Austin!

Went here over the Christmas holidays with my fam and we had a great time! Off the bat they have two locations across the street from each other. One is a store and the other for their tastings. It was BYOB with free corkage and so we walked across the street to the store and grabbed a nice bottle of wine. We went for the cheese and food pairing and it was a full house. There was one 'host' who talked about the pairings and the history and then left you to eat at your own pace. I liked the setup. There was no rush and we truly got to learn about the cheeses we were eating. We got so full that we had to box up the rest for later, which I also like that they do. Overall, amazing experience and I would say worth the money.

The people working there are amazing!! They answered all of our questions and offered us many samples to choose from. We really enjoy all of their selections. Our favorite cheese shop for sure!

We had the most wonderful experience at Antonelli's Cheese House in Hyde Park the other night. From the moment we arrived, the storefront was charming and inviting, and the staff immediately made us feel welcome, seating us promptly at our assigned table. The tasting was sold out with about 30 guests, yet it felt intimate and relaxed. Two incredibly knowledgeable and engaging women guided us through the experience, introducing an impressive lineup of cheeses--goat, sheep, and cow, cave-aged and reserve selections, and cheeses from the Netherlands, France, and even Fredericksburg. It was fun, informative, and completely over the top in the best way. I can't recommend it enough for a date night, girls' night out, or even a unique team-building experience. We loved every minute and absolutely plan to go back.

Cheese, Meats and Treats, size large

Antonelli's make the best charcuterie boards, hands down! I've been getting them for a holiday party I host for the past three years. They are always a big hit. I like the large-sized "cheese, meats and treats" tray the best. It comes with 5 different cheeses, 3 meats, super tasty corn nuts, peppadews, gherkins, green olives and seasonal fruit (in the winter it is usually grapes, dried apricots and dates). The apricots and dates and not overly dehydrated and still have a soft chewy texture. The tray is well packaged for pick up, and it includes a little sign that lists everything in the charcuterie board (which is nice because you can identify the cheeses and meats). This year the large-sized charcuterie boards included a free bottle of wine (and the wine was decent). It's a breeze to order online. Although parking is tight for the area, it's helpful there's a dedicated pick up window and you don't have to enter the crowded shop.

This review is for Antonelli's signature cheese tasting event at their Hyde Park location. Such a cool experience! For $50 per person, my friend and I each received a cheese plate with 7 types of delicious, unique, varied cheeses - each paired with a salty or sweet bite. Two knowledgeable staff members walked us through the tasting, sharing interesting facts and tips. It's byob so you can bring in your own bottle of wine - we grabbed a bottle from their shop across the street which offered great, affordable options. Highly recommend this experience for a fun date night or night out with family and friends!

Cheese and chocolate tasting

My husband and I booked a cheese tasting experience at Antonelli's and had such a wonderful time. We were seated with great company and the entire experience was wonderful! The tasting occurred in their tasting house across the street from the cheese store. You need to pre-purchase wine, buy from the store front, or pay a cork fee and bring your own. We tried the cheese and chocolate and really enjoyed the sampling and pairing of everything. Would highly recommend! Very small group setting in the cute neighborhood area. Very casual and fun overall.

Ask the Community - Antonelli's Cheese

Do they ship?

Yes they ship. See website. But the important part is the experience of being there, the people, samples, etc. then go next door to Uncle Nicky's for a Negroni.

Are masks still required to walk in?

Hey Melanie! Thank you for asking, like you we are excited that we are now in Stage 4 and slowly getting closer to "normal". That being said we do still require masks to enter the cheese shop for the safety of our awesome employees. Thanks so much!

How big is the selection of organic non gmo cheeses?

BIG!

BUY IN STORE -- Not online…read more I truly hate writing this review because Rebel Cheese's products are excellent but the fulfillment and customer experience were a mess from start to finish. I ordered a holiday cheese box on December 3 as a Christmas gift. My card was charged immediately. The order never shipped, and I received no communication until I followed up myself, multiple times. After the holidays, I learned (only because I kept pushing) that my order had been internally canceled due to a system glitch, with no email, no refund, and no outreach. I was repeatedly told it would ship on specific dates that came and went. A replacement order was finally sent in January. It arrived late, wet, with melted and ruptured ice packs, and the cheese was very soft to the point my friends weren't sure it was safe to eat. The box also lacked the gift note that was supposed to be included. What bothers me most is that my card would have stayed charged indefinitely if I hadn't chased this down myself. That's not okay especially for perishable food. It's a real shame, because the product itself is great. But based on this experience, I can't recommend ordering gifts or anything time-sensitive unless the fulfillment and communication processes dramatically improve.

Up until it's final day Rebel Cheese has been excellent in food, atmosphere, and service. The space was always clean and there were plenty of foodstuffs to peruse in their store. On more than one occasion I got myself a bit of snacky vegan deliciousness to go. It wasn't all cheese, there were sauces, spreads, and sugary treats too. Every single cashier has been kind and friendly. The food always came out fresh and hot. Online ordering is easy and my products arrived right on time. No complaints! This is a great place to at least try to make the switch to vegan cheese. There are plenty of options and everything is flavorful.

First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!

Re. the feral hog butchering class in June, 2026…read more For years now I have been interested in taking this class and have been on DD's email list. Their emails are sporadic, and by the time I got to try to sign up in the past, a class would be full. I was psyched to finally get a spot in this class. I was intimidated by the $300 cost but decided it would be worth it to be able to get some hands-on experience in working with an animal like this. In the week before the class, as I was packing for my trip (I live on the east coast), I emailed DD to find out approximately how much meat participants would leave with, so I could decide on my options for a cooler/insulated bags for my checked luggage. The response: this was an observation-only class: no hands-on activity would take place, and participants would not take home any meat. I was shocked and disappointed. Yes, I know the DD webpage for the class says "demonstrations", as does the Resy page where you buy the ticket. Caveat emptor, etc., yadda yadda yadda. Ok, so I had to shift my expectations and my plans for the trip, and kept an open mind the whole time I was in Austin and at DD. During the class, Chef Jessie was very informative and I did learn how to butcher a whole hog. That part was actually interesting, as was the part of the talk on hunting, dressing, and storing the beasts (I'm not a hunter but it was still illuminating). I picked up a few tips on how to cook some of the cuts. Much of it was familiar, since I do butcher smaller, similar-shaped animals; and the sausage-making portion at the end was also familiar since I've done that many times. The class ran until about 9:45 p.m. All in all I can't really say what I got for that $300 ticket price. At the beginning of the class, the participants nearest me were raving about Chef Jesse's videos and tutorials on YouTube, which left me thinking, Why did I pay this much when I can watch this online? The food DD provided was just a plate of snacks (bread, cheese, cold cuts), and I had already eaten. I did get a nice glass of wine at the start, though I was miffed that the drinks menu had prices listed (we weren't charged for drinks, but it put me off, all the same). I took a few photos and some short notes during the time I was there, but nothing was astronomically revelatory. I think my biggest disappointment was leaving Austin empty-handed -- no boar meat to take home -- since no one in the city sells it (I checked about five specialty markets/butchers while I was in town), and DD was also unwilling to part with any, even for a price. From my time in northern Italy, I'm a huge fan of wild boar anything, so I was really hoping to stuff my suitcase full of meat; but alas, it was not meant to be, and now I am resigned to trying to find an online supplier that doesn't charge an arm for a leg. All in all, I don't think it was worth it. That $300 (ignoring the other expenses of the trip itself -- hotel, airfare, etc.) could have gone a long way to simply ordering some boar from a website. If you're in the Austin area -- or relatively close (i.e., driving distance) -- and/or have access to boar/hog hunting, this might be for you. But if you're just an enthusiastic cook looking to spice up your culinary game with some added skills and exotic meats, look for online videos and have a conversation with your local independent butcher.

REALLY, you buy this local institutions goods at Farmer's Market. You know what? I will help them out and put the locations at which to purchase this fermented cow milk: Downtown - Republic Square Saturdays 9am-1pm; Sunset Valley - Toney Burger Center Saturdays 9am-1pm; Triangle Park - 46th St & Lamar Wednesdays 3pm-7pm; East 5th & Waller Sundays 11am-3pm. That being said, I have given you a little teaser. Now, look at their website to find stores which distribute their goods. How the heck is this cheese, you ask? It is not bad. Though I found the cheeses to be very one-noted and dry, they were definitely rich--this being the result of utilizing the feed for babies from well-treated cattle. The Especial, Seco, and Classico are all similar in texture, flavor, and overall character. In fact, they are not easily distinguished from one another. They would do fine as a secondary ingredient in a simple dish, such as tacos or quesadillas, but they wouldn't hold up to wine or serve well in a grilled cheese. For the latter 2 items, I would go with their Cheddars, which have a bit more bite. They have a wide selection as compared to other cheeseries in the Austin area, as many seem to really just go after the goat cheese fanatics. Nothing too crazy in terms of production and variety here, but give them a shot. The fermented dairy comes from Texas after all. The people who work here are also super awesome and are ready to take care of you when you have questions or concerns about where your cheese is going. Hehe.. you pay cheese for cheese.
