I went in for a cheese tasting last week and was blown away. All the cheese we tried was fantastic. The pairings were fun and added new dimensions to the cheeses. The workers were very enthusiastic and helpful. They were very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. I would definitely recommend the whole experience.

We did a 'date night' cheese tasting with a group of 8 people for a buddies birthday and had a blast! They were able to seat us all together, but note the tables only seat 8 people so that is the max for a group. It was no surprise that the cheeses were all amazing; I will admit I haven't shopped at Antonelli's before but I know their reputation and all of the cheese and pairings were up to my high expectations. That being said, what really makes the experience are the hosts! I can buy a half pound of cheese and have a great night at home lol. But the way they curated the parings with the cheese, and introduced the cheeses and pairings not just with tasting notes and info about the style, but also gave details on the vendors everything was bought from and their sustainability etc which gave a lot of personal feeling to the whole tasting. And when they say you will be full afterwards they mean it- I even took some cheese home! We also loved the option to byo wine with a $15 corkage fee; for about the price of a glass of wine this is a solid choice. Parking is free in the garages around the Drafthouse- its great not having to search for street parking on S Lamar!

This was fun! I wasn't expecting to be so full after just a cheese plate but I was (which is nice considering this isn't a cheap activity). The team was wonderful and super knowledgeable about everything they served us. Bonus: I have a mild allergy that they were able to easily accommodate too! Definitely a fun date activity!

Antonelli's tastings are such a fun and unique experience! I've been for both corporate socials and personal date nights and it's a great opportunity to enjoy and learn about cheese pairings. The newer S Lamar location is pretty modern and has lots of tables, whereas the original tasting room feels more homey and cozy. Table seats are close together so it's a pretty communal experience. The cheese plates are huge and you will definitely leave full! They walk you through the different pairings, you can also add a wine pairing if desired, and they teach you about the history of the cheese as well. I love that you can place an order for any of the items you tried and they quickly package and bring it out to you at the end of the night - we got a few cheeses to share with family after our tasting.

We visited the new Antonelli's tasting room on South Lamar on a Saturday evening for their cheese tasting event. It was $50 per person and we received seven cheeses paired with an accompaniment. The class lasted about an hour and a half, and we really had a good time. The two hosts that led you through the tasting were personable and funny. All of the cheeses were delicious and they were perfectly paired with a complementary flavor. My favorite was the strawberry basil preserve, and the honey on the blue cheese. You can purchase a wine flight when you purchase your tasting ticket, but we opted not to and instead purchased a glass of wine when we arrived. They only had three wine options to choose from. I'd definitely recommend a tasting event. They have four long community tables in the room, so you can either sit with a group of friends or be placed next to others.

What a great cheese class! So thankful that I follow them on Instagram. I was scrolling and noticed they had a few seats left for their Sunday morning brunch cheese class. I even got a discount! I arrived a little early, just never know about parking. There are 2 small parking areas. I was cheerfully greeted when I walked in and handed an apple cider mimosa. I was guided to my seat. I did walk around and take pictures. The room is stunning, and very beautifully decorated. As everyone was arriving, they were also guided to their seats and handed a mimosa. After a short period, a cow bell was rung to give our attention to the hosts. They introduced theirselves to us and gave a little insight of how they became employees with Antonelli's Cheese. Which was a cute story, for both hosts. Plates were put out in front of us, and class begun. We sampled a beautiful 7 specific cheese. Its was like one was better than the last. I enjoyed all of the cheese. But there was one that I couldn't get enough of. And that was the raw cow milk Canadian cheese Chemin Du Brule. It was a soft, creamy, savory cheese. On its own was delicious. It was paired with an apple onion jam, that sounded off, but that jam alone was delicious as well. The cheese and the apple onion jam on a little toastie, makes a great holiday app. A lot of cheese sampling. I'm not going to get into all 7, but they were all great in their own way. And the pairings really are imaginative. I see a lot of holiday ideas with this class. Thank you for the knowledge, and the tastings. Wonderful class. And I look forward to going to another.

I recently came with two friends and we ended up splitting a bottle of their sauvignon blanc which was truly perfection on a warm day. We also tried their fondue and obviously snagged a bruschetta board. We opted to the brie apple fig, warm artichoke, pepper jam goat cheese, and a prosciutto for our omnivore friend. I loved all the ones that I tried but the pepper jam & artichoke definitely stand out as my favorites. I'm obsessed with the whole concept and feel like its the perfect snack to pair with wine. I've heard that they do $25 bottles & board combos after 8p on Monday & Tuesday nights which I can't wait to try!

I'd love to see them offer some versions with non cows dairy such as some sheep cheese like feta. My fave ones were the smoked salmon and the fig. It was so beautiful inside and outside. We chose to eat inside but took pictures on the patio. Servers were attentive. This place even gives a discount to the parking garage attached to the building. You do have to scan the QR code in the garage when you arrive to pay for parking. (I didn't know that until an hour into my dining and my friend mentioned paying for parking so I had to run out to my car!) Looks like they change the flavors of the boards so it would be great to come back and try different flavors. There were some dessert items I saw online that weren't available on the in restaurant menu that would have been nice to try. They also have a wine club if you're into that. Near downtown so you can enjoy the city before or after your meal. My friends said their cocktails were delish.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here to catch up with a buddy that enjoys wine as much as I do. Starting off, we got a glass of Aubry brut 1er cru glass. Nice, acidic, and bubbly. What I expect out of champagne. We got a philippe jouan (aka pinot noir) bottle which was so delicious. For food, we got the baguette and a egg confit dish that was divine. Then wrapping up, we got a single glass of produttori del barbaresco and capellano barolo. These were super old wines from the 80s and boy were they screaming tertiary notes. Awesome experience. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, we spent around $270 for a bottle of pinot noir, two glasses of really old wine and a sneak peek bite of their tasting menu. Will be back to try more wines and food.

The restaurant is small, but has a ton of character! I highly recommend getting a reservation. We started off with kanpachi crudo which had a delicous ponzu sauce and some extra sweetness from the melon balls! We then had the Vichyssoise, which I would say was my favorite bite of the evening! The Scarlett crab was soo good and added the perfect amount of saltiness and sweetness to the comforting soup! For our mains, we got the duck which had a delicious hoisin sauce. While I enjoyed the bok choy I felt it could have a better accompaniment. We also got the salmon which had a smaller portion, but was unique in its taste and execution. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot, but do be aware that the menu is small when ordering ala carte but each item is executed thoroughly well!

I had heard so many great things about Jeffrey's, including its reputation as an Austin fine-dining staple since 1975. The restaurant strikes that rare balance of feeling cozy and intimate while still maintaining an undeniably upscale atmosphere. Colin was our server and he did an amazing job taking care of us throughout the evening. Shortly after we were seated, we were served complimentary bread with stracciatella cheese, which got me super excited. Stracciatella happens to be one of my favorite cheeses and it's surprisingly hard to find so this was a treat. The bread was warm and perfect for scooping up the creamy, delicate cheese. Extra points to Jeffrey's for offering this as a complimentary starter! After that, we ordered the crispy fried oysters, which were recommended to me by one of the sushi chefs at Sushi by Scratch who mentioned she used to work at Jeffrey's and insisted they were a must-order. They arrived golden and delicate with a light, crisp exterior and that briny, buttery oyster inside. Truly the perfect starter and just the right portion to begin the meal. For our mains, we both opted for the Gulf Red Snapper. The dish arrived beautifully plated with a perfectly seared exterior. The fish was delicate, flaky, and cooked perfectly. On the side we ordered the oak-grilled broccolini, which came out vibrant and slightly charred with a subtle smokiness. It paired well with the snapper and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. They also have an excellent white wine selection, which complemented the seafood perfectly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and the perfect way to end my Austin trip. Jeffrey's will definitely be a staple stop every time I visit Austin from now on.

Since we were going to be in Austin a specific weekend, we didn't have much of a choice on what class to take. The only class available was Thai Vegetarians. All the girls ended up liking the food. We made Hot and Sour Soup, Bean Thread Salad w/ tofu and mushroom, Pad Prik King w/ tofu and red curry paste, and Pad Sea Ew w/ tofu and eggs. I thought they tasted as good as the dishes with meat. There were a total of 11 people in the class. Jam was feeling under the weather, but you wouldn't have known it. We all stood around an island while Jam explained the dish and the ingredients while guiding us on what to do next. The island was split up in three burners so there were 3-4 people making a serving of each dish. It was interactive and we all were able to contribute. She gave us a hard copy of the recipes at the beginning of class, and you can chose to follow them/take notes. There were a lot of leftovers and some brought them to go. It was a little warm inside. They needed to crank up the temperature just a wee bit. They also ran out of Thai tea. We ordered 5 but they only had enough to make 1. I do agree with the other reviewers about the cost of the class. I wouldn't have paid the full price for this type of class and am glad we purchased a Groupon. Overall, we had a great time.
