Last night, we finally stopped into this authentic BYOB Italian restaurant after passing it dozens of times, and what a wonderful surprise it was. We started with the rice balls as an appetizer, and they were absolutely outstanding. The very first bite instantly brought me back to my Nonna's kitchen. ~ the same comforting, authentic flavor I remember growing up. It's the first time I've had rice balls in a restaurant that truly tasted like hers. Our waiter, Riccardo, was attentive, informative, and incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. The food was fantastic. My husband had the Sunday Sauce and said it was outstanding, and I had the Cavatelli and Broccoli, cooked to perfection! Everything about the evening exceeded our expectations. Do yourself a favor and order the rice balls ~ you won't regret it. If you're looking for authentic Italian, that taste like it came straight from a Nonna's kitchen, this is your place. We will definitely be back! read more

If I could give it less stars I would. This used to be my go to place for Italian food, but I think Labrano's Trattoria down the street has a new regular. These prices are absurd.I got two items a chicken soup and clams vongol, and a grand total of $41. Unless they're getting their plates shipped straight from Italy there's no reason for it to be this expensive by all means do not go here unless you wanna get robbed. I just came back from a trip to Italy and there wasn't a single time. A plate of clams on goal was more than $20. read more

Ordered a large plain for take out last night for dinner. Service staff was really friendly and the ambiance was really nice. Crust was tasty and cooked really nice, good char. So why 3 stars? We recently had our mother's 90th birthday celebration here. I can't say enough good things about the staff and how pleasant and accommodating they were. I like to try different things. I had not eaten Veal Saltimbocca in a while, so I gave it a shot. I have to say it was the worst. The prosciutto was very salty, and the Marsala sauce was not cooked down enough. I could still taste the alcohol. This along with the fact that I asked the waiter three times for more dipping olive oil, before I received it. However, to be fair the rice balls along with the Calamari, and Fig & Goat Cheese Bruschetta were very good. Anything with sauce is a safe bet. Hope the helps. read more

A local resident recommended this restaurant and I'm glad she did! We had 5:30 PM reservations and we were seated right away. Ambience is beautiful. Staff was very attentive. Some of the pastas are homemade. The marinara sauce was very light and flavorful, salad was fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette was creamy and not acidic tasting. Portion was very large. I have yet to dine in with Antonio's, I am mostly a door dash customer. I work in a restaurant, so the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is go into another restaurant. I have lived in Belmar for the last 8 months, and I order from here all the time because I know the quality of the food is amazing. Unfortunately, I did have a mishap this evening with steak temperatures, & one of the managers did something I did not expect for a DD order. He reached out to me personally, and let me know how long the restaurant has been in business, and how important it is for them to strive to maintain good customer relationships. Let me tell you, I am a DD girl, for reasons listed above. Not a single manager of any establishment has ever reached out to me, to find out why my experience wasn't satisfactory- for a take out order! These are the kind of businesses that deserve recognition, for actually caring about their customers. Even ones like me who may only ever be a take out customer. Thank you for professionalism, kindness, & respect. No lost business here. (Ps. We absolutely love Antonio's. Such a great family owned restaurant that provides fresh, and delicious Italian style meals! We have been here many times and every time we are blown away. The restaurant is very nice and quaint. It's not a huge place so I would recommend reservations for the weekends but it's definitely worth the wait. Food is always outstanding and they always have new items and specials to choose from. We started off with the antipasto for 2 which was such a generous portion size and so fresh and delicious. My husband had gotten the buffalo shrimp app and that was hands down one of our favorite dishes ever. For dinner I had a chicken special which was perfectly cooked and so full of flavor and hubby got the gnocchi. Do not skip dessert!!! It's totally worth it!!! Picked up take out today and it was awful. Eggplant parm. Very sad! First of all I thought a salad comes with it. Second, it said $19 on menu but was $25 and change. The sauce tasted like ragu...just gross. Spaghetti was like out of a can. Just very disappointing! Enjoyed a delicious meal at this BYOB. The restaurant is romantically lit and the ambiance that of an old school Italian place. The waitress was kind and honest. The food was disappointing. The artichoke Francese was not good. Artichoke undercooked and the sauce was weak. Mozzarella in Carozza was made like a slice of mozzarella with bread crumbs. I had the veal parmigiana which was disappointing because the veal was cooked perfectly and tender but the sauce tasted like hunts straight out of the can! Terrible! The service was good even though they mixed up our party reservations. The place was very nice with a nice ambiance to it. I'm sorry but I won't recommend this place. read more

Very good food. Great service. I like this restaurant for a small number of people. It can get loud and it's difficult to have a conversation if you have a bigger group. We have gotten several dishes from Antonio's and they are consistently delicious! I normally get the eggplant rollatini. But, I tried the meat lasagna and I think it might be my new go to!! The s'mores dessert pizza hit the spot!! They give you a rosemary bread that I could eat a loaf myself! We normally order Togo. But, we went in early summer for a baptism. The services was great! The food was tastefully prepared with generous portions, scallops wrapped in bacon with a light lemon cream sauce.Sunday gravy with meatballs & sausage. Both tasty. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The dining areas are tastefully decorated filled with many diners. The booths are a little tight and the a/c was on and a bit chilly. If you are debating if you should eat here, don't debate, just go! We are here for the first time tonight and from the appetizers to the bread to the salads to the entrees to the dessert, everything was just delicious! Also the servers were friendly, the waters were filled continuously (even though they were busy) and dirty plates were taken away quickly and with a pleasant smile! Prices were very reasonable, the menu had a lot of options and they took reservations (which were ready on time when we got there). I had the chicken cordon bleu and it may have been my favorite cordon blue ever! I also recommend the caramel apple pie for dessert. It was tasty yet light and capped off the meal wonderfully. My family and I have been going to and ordering takeout from Antonio's for about 11 years. We have always loved the food and the overall value. Tonight we spent $68 on takeout that consisted of Ravioli Al Forno (baked ravioli), Spaghetti & Sausage, and Calamari Marinara. For our $68 we got 4 ravioli, a dreadfully small amount of spaghetti to go with sausage, and a nice sized Calamari Marinara meal. The dinners were tasty (if you like eating sausage and sauce) but two of us are still very hungry and feel ripped off after eating our appetizer sized dinners. Is there a pasta shortage that we're not aware of or do we need to look for a new Italian restaurant? read more

Went for dinner on Friday night, made a reservation and the table was ready. Started with the fried calamari appetizer very good, for the entrees the Tortellini Alfredo excellent, Shrimp Risotto was good shrimp on the small side and very little butter nut squash, and the veal saltimbuca was ok the Demi glacé sauce needed work veal was very tender. The dessert was a little disappointing, tried the special Peach Crumble cheesecake which I was expecting made by the place or at least a local pastry chef but it wasn't. The cappuccino and espresso made perfect. The service was ok but our server forgot the bread until we asked and forgot the side dish of pasta for my dinner until asked and did not place any salt pepper or Parmesan on the table until we asked and dropped the check on the table with dessert making us feel rushed. The owner and the manager both stopped by our table to ask how everything is which I really appreciate it shows how much they care about their customers. 4 star central jersey Italian fare, a cut above the usual Italian in the area, large portions and a nice atmosphere for the family. So this is what you get, you definitely have a solid spot here for Italian food, even for picky eaters. You're going to get those large portions of really high-quality food. You're gonna have a really nice atmosphere as well. You won't be disappointed with any of the courses. The salad was nice and fresh and large. The group also ordered a wide righty of Italian dishes. Anywhere from pasta Bolognese, chicken Marsala etc. I remember being happy we picked the spot based on yelp reviews. We weren't expecting to be blown away, we also didn't want to have average food either. And that's what we found here. The atmosphere is really nice as well. It feels like sort of a family restaurant more than anything else. Where you might bring groups including large groups of family. I definitely recommend the spot if you're looking for a good Italian in the area. read more

Sunday night-seven of us went to dinner and spent $350.00 here and we do frequent this restaurant! The food is consistent as is the service. Well my salad arrived and as I was eating a wire tie (like one that would keep a bag of bread closed) was in there and as I bit down it jabbed my gum between my teeth. Not fun. We alerted the server (Vicky) who was very nice and one other person as well. The evidence-so to speak-was handed over and I began to eat my meal while bleeding but not bad. Antonio came over later after our meal and we all chatted friendly as we always do. Then we had dessert-paid the bill and left. My gripe-not even a mention of sorry let alone a dessert or anything on the house to offer some consideration for their error! I mean I am not going to claim my evening was ruined by this wire tie-but it surely could have been had I swallowed it. I question whether I would go back now. Visited Antonio's last Saturday night. This was my first time dining here. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated promptly in a cozy booth. Love the fact that it's a byob. Great value for the money. The meals come with salad, side pasta or vegetable and awesome foccia style bread. We tried the special Stuffed portobello appetizer. It had roasted peppers and mozzarella drizzled with balsamic glaze. It was very tasty. As far as entrees the Veal Saltimbocca and the Chicken Giambotta were both very good. Disturbing managerial reaction tonight to having meat juice spilled on me while another waitress was delivering food to an adjacent table. Restaurant was busy and LOUD. The manager recommended that I use cold water and dish soap to clean my sweater. No responsibility was taken by staff or managers for the event; I was told it was an accident...my children know better. The staff acted like I was a pariah and were uncaring when I said that I now knew what they would do for me: give me cleaning instructions for my sweater. Ugh. Food is standard so we have been a longtime local customer. Especially takeout. Unfortunately this review is based upon service. We made reservations for Mother's Day. They take a credit card to hold the reservation. Totally understandable. Well we had to cancel and we did well within the time frame so that we do not get charged for a no show or late cancellation. The restaurant ran the charge through anyway. Cost us $150. We had called and emailed about the charge and were essentially blown off. Sorry they said, but would not refund the money. So they have lost a long time customer. Oh well. There are plenty of places to choose from. Customer service is usually what makes a place stand out. read more

Antonio's Trattoria provides a nice experience. Their restaurant is fitted with leather booths and regular tables in the back. It's far from an open concept design overall -- it's compact with a pizza-place-type setup in the front of the restaurant. They do offer indoor dining at this time. We were happy enough with all our food -- my Salmon Alla Scampi was cooked very well, it just needed more salt or it would've been too bland -- and the only real hiccup we had was that my father's Filet Mignon was prepared to be rare despite his asking for medium. They remedied the issue once we pointed it out to them. All meals come with a huge, fresh house salad. They were kind enough to have all of their servers come sing happy birthday to my grandmother, and they put what can only be described as a large sparkler in lieu of a candle while we sang. It was super fun, albeit a bit unconventional. Our server Tony was polite, formal, and efficient. This is a good place to go when you have a large party you need to accommodate, as we have in the past, so long as you make a reservation. read more
