On a Sunday for an early dinner, Lubrano's was the place to be. The restaurant was filled with patrons as early as 4pm, and for good reason - the portions are massive and the food was a hit. We stopped by Lubrano's after strolling the boardwalk wanting to avoid the greasy boardwalk eats. I wasn't expecting much since it just seemed like your standard pizzeria with a dining area, but I was surprised to learn the food offerings are elevated and done right. We came at an odd time, right in between lunch and dinner, but thankfully we're given the option to order off the lunch menu if we wanted. The lobster & crab bisque was one of the items on the lunch menu that I ordered - and the portion was MASSIVE. The flavor was there, but to my disappointment there were no signs of crab or lobster meat in this soup whatsoever, not even one chunk of meat. The appetizer salads given to every person who ordered an entree were a decent size, and the balsamic dressing packed a punch. I opted for the spicy rigatoni and once again, the portion size was healthy and the flavors were great. I tried some of the other dishes at the table, including the special of the day: monkfish, and all entrees were done well. It may have been an off day, but our waitress didn't seem too happy to serve us and would often cut us off mid sentence when ordering / asking a question. Often times she seemed irritated and short with the questions we asked regarding menu options, but I'll give Lubrano's the benefit of the doubt that this isn't their standard. Overall, this is a solid restaurant for Italian food and would definitely return when in the area! read more

I have visited Lubrano's several times for dinner and it does not disappoint. It's a located in a strip mall in Mannasquan. When you walk in, you are standing in front of a pizza counter but there is a nice dining room attached for lunch/dinner. I have yet to try the pizza since I usually just come for dinner. At the table, they start with hot bread and olive oil to dip. The bread is super delicious and dangerously addictive. For appetizers, I have tried the Stuffed Zucchini Flowers and Calamari. Both are great options. For an entree, I usually order the Chicken Parm or Seafood Pescatore Linguine. Most recently, I tried the Spicy Garlicky Salmon, which came highly recommended by other Yelpers. It was the perfect amount of garlic flavor and came with a side of creamy mashed potatoes. Everything I have tried at Lubrano's has been amazing and the portions are huge. I usually bring home leftovers and can make another meal out of it! It's BYOB which is a great plus. When you enter, it looks like a traditional pizzeria, but when you go through the doors, it's a cozy, welcoming Italian restaurant. Service is exceptional. Such a great dining experience! It's BYOB but there's a liquor store next door so we were able to get a nice bottle of wine for dinner. After we were seated, we got fresh, hot homemade bread to dip in the olive oil and spices. Then we ordered lobster ravioli and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. They came with a fresh garden salad too. Both dishes were very very good but there was no way I could eat all of my pasta! The staff was so nice to box it up for me and even find us a cork that would fit our prosecco bottle to take the rest home. Service was good- fast, friendly and professional. The place was nicely decorated and clean. While reservations are not mandatory, it gets very busy so it is good to have one. Besides the meal, my husband got a Coke. We were too full for dessert. I called 2 times during the week to make a reservation for last Saturday night and a hispanic gentleman answered, both times. He told me -"we only have 4:15 & 9:15 available, if you want call back Saturday to see if we have any cancellations you can". I called back Saturday(same man answered) & was told the same thing- only 4:15 & 9:15, mind you I was looking for a table for 2. My gf & I decided to try our luck at 6:30pm on Saturday night & we walked in & literally HALF THE TABLES WERE EMPTY!!!! We sat immediately. I was shocked! The food was good, service good, but to call 3 times & literally be turned away & have the restaurant be half empty, is crazy! First time dining here and have a mixed review. The place was packed which is a good sign to me but the food for the prices is not what I hoped it to be. The spicy shrimp and the calamari were ok the bread was great but one major issue was a steak that was close to $40 and tasteless . When asked if they had Worcestershire sauce the waitress answered "we have no steak sauces at all". How does a full service restaurant serving steak have no steak sauce ?! We visited this strip mall pizzeria/restaurant on a Saturday. We had a 5 o'clock reservation but still had to wait about 20 minutes (maybe a little more) to get seated. The place was packed. We brought a couple of bottles of wine, which was nice since it's BYOB. It took another 10-15 minutes for them to take our orders and about 30 minutes after that to receive our appetizers, but honestly, it was all worth it. We tried several appetizers, including fried calamari, eggplant rollatini, and clams casino. For our mains, we had burrata ravioli, lasagna, and veal Parmesan. Dessert was cheesecake & tiramisu. Lubranos always hits home for me. I can always know that any pasta on the menu will be delicious. Service was slightly slower on a Wednesday night, but I think it's because of the larger group. Yesterday my family was looking forward to visiting this restaurant for the first time and we where seated right away. I understand the place was busy but our waitress was totally insensitive and uncaring. The food in general was ok but I ordered their Sinatra streak which is a strip steak with broccoli rabe with melted mozzarella. Well to my dismay the steak was as dry as shoe leather and the same for the broccoli rabe and mozzarella. So I felt I can save it with either A-1 sauce or Worcestershire sauce when I asked if they had either one the waitress bluntly we don't carry it! Needless to say it went back and I got a credit for it and I also question the cleanliness of the place again needless to say I'll never return! read more

So....we waited 30 minutes....not terrible because 1. We spent the time shopping for wine to BYOB 2. The young man who took our names to alert us was apparently the owner's son and was super nice. When we were seated all was well until it wasn't. *Positives, The bread was delish, the sauce for the calamari was outstanding, the server was nice (kind of felt he was putting on an accent to play the role though - I know sounds weird, but true) and the bus boys attentive! -Negatives: the food was just ok. I'm sorry, but I really wanted to like it! The pasta was over cooked and my husband's dish needed more seasoning. Still worth taking home because homemade food is still honorable leftovers, but I would give the whole experience a 3.5 out of 5. Returned here last night to celebrate my wife's 71st birthday. Food was superb. I had stuffed veal in brown sauce with mashed potatoes & summer vegetables. My wife enjoyed a serving of chicken Murphy. Salad was included. The bread was delicious. It is a BYOB & I'd recommend reservations especially on a weekend. We've had tons of celebrations here and love Lubrano's for the warm ambiance, friendly attentive service, and delicious food. Some of my favorites are the sautéed escarole (the nuts, raisins, and capers add so much flavor), Agrodolce Shrimp & Calamari (A MUST ORDER. One of my favorite appetizers ever! That sweet and sour balsamic sauce is incredible), and the lobster ravioli (so creamy and decadent). I've tried a bunch of other dishes and everything has been tasty and filling. We made a reservation for a party of 12 on a Monday at 5:15pm. When you make a reservation early in the evening with multiple children under four, you do so under the auspices that you will be served more quickly. Lubrano's level of service can best be described as a colossal failure. It took 90 minutes for us to receive our meals; simple foods like a bowl of spaghetti with butter for a three year old, took 90 minutes. At no point in the entire dinner was I asked if I would like anything to drink. McDonalds, the IRS, even the DMV have dramatically better service than Lubrano's. After a 90 minute wait, we were greeted with large and unimpressive dishes. Purely on food quality it would sit between 3 or 4 stars, varying by dish. Ordered a margherita pizza and this is what I got. Mind you, their website says this for their description "Pizza made with the utmost attention to the details of Old school Neapolitan pizza making. Fresh homemade dough, sauce made with imported Italian tomatoes, fresh basil and homemade fresh wet mozzarella." Does this look "traditional" or "Neapolitan" to you? I called them because it was so bad that I was sure there was a mistake but nope, when I went to pick up the replacement it was the EXACT SAME. Why even have this on the menu? I told you that if this was what it was supposed to be then you could keep it, but you insisted. Yes I tried it, it was average at best. You charged me $4 extra for a glorified cheese pizza. How about you spend your time making sure that your menu is clear instead of leaving rude replies to your yelp reviews? I have been waiting to try Lubranos for some time now and i'm sorry i waited so long. The food is spectacular. I ordered Escarole and Bean Soup and couldn't stop eating it. Their bread and herbed dipping oil amazing. i will be ordering ALL my Italian food here. I am Italian an couldn't get enough of their home style Italian food. My husband ordered yesterday from them as he's in rehab to gain strength and not only did he rave about the mussels marinara but had every nurse and aide on his floor enjoying the bread and oil As i said THEY ARE THE BEST! We were looking for some good Italian food before a show at the local Algonquin Theater and guess what ? we found it here. Got an early 5:00 PM reservation on a Saturday and the place was already packed when we arrived. As you walk in there is an area for takeout and to the right and through the doors is the restaurant area. Beautiful atmosphere inside the restaurant with brick walls and a cozy and casual feel we were promptly seated at a nice window seat. It's a BYOB and our server Alessandro was great and attentive even though the restaurant was busy, he opened our bottle of wine and proceeded to tell us about the specials. To start we chose one of the special apps, the Fried Zucchini Flowers stuffed with fresh mozzarella which were very delicious. For our mains, my wife saw on the menu that they claim to have the best Chicken Parmigiana you will ever eat and you know what, they may be right. Homemade breaded chicken cutlet, pounded thin, crisp around the ends , covered in a delicious sauce and cheese and finished in their oven, it was excellent. For my main, I felt like a seafood dish and asked our waiter what was best and he suggested the Linguine Pescatore, shrimp, clams, New Zealand mussels, calamari, mussels and scallops, sautéed with garlic and extra virgin olive oil and finished in a Diavolo plum marinara sauce. I loved it, the seafood all fresh, tender and delicious. Good food, reasonable prices and a BYOB, my wife and I loved this spot and we will definitely be back. read more
