First time here. No one at front greeting you and looking at your reservation. Waiting is fine, it's a Saturday night. But we waited until 30 min after our time and no one even spoke to us. We were finally seated, waitress opened the wine and left the bottle. No pore, no greeting. A while after she shows up to take orders, no greeting, no review of specials, no mention of if we had been there before. While we waited for our food had to stack up our bread plates and ask the bus boy to take them. We have empty waters for a while and I had to ask bus boy for refills. Dinner came and it was good. Give credit when it's due. No coming around to ask how everything is, do we need anything. We asked for check, here you go. I did leave 20% because I can't help myself. But it wasn't deserved. The food was good yes. Maybe we had an off night? Maybe. That being said, when spending good money on dinner, too many other places that deserve it. We won't be back. read more

Not rushed , comfortable, service was on point and the food was delivered relatively quickly, although we stayed for 2-1/2 hours .. exactly how a fine italian restaurant should be. There were six of us and we ate like kings ( and queens !) had tripe appetizer , calamari fritte , zucchini fritte mussels in white sauce and straciatella soup. The bread was hot right out of the oven. Dinner we had 4 different veal dishes - veal royale, veal Saltimbocca , valdistano, and Sorrenti.. I had bolognese and another had chicken francese. Dinner this evening at Manasquan , ordered Pollo Buongustavio, received slice of thin cut Chicken breast cut into two pieces , one round cut of eggplant with a tomato slice and ,mozzarella over the tomato, in a horrible garlic wine sauce, no salad was offered no pasta was offered this entree was $35. We came here with dear friends who have frequent diners. VV is located in a strip mall -a convenient location and ample parking. It's nicely done inside and offers a nice ambiance. We had a very friendly waitress so I don't understand the other Yelper's complaints about service (we went on a Thursday). Appetizers: Arancini Burrata Prince Edward Island Mussels Entrees Bistecca Sicliana Eggplant Parmigiana Salmon Oregenata Veal Valdostana Dessert Bread pudding Cannoli The food was very good at Via Veneto. Went there last night with my friend. The food was good as usual. There were only about 4 other tables eating at the same time as us. The manager/owner???? (gray haired gentleman) Was stumbling around and being extra loud. He was literally screaming the name "ALISON" in the kitchen over and over again while all the diners just looked in amazement. The bus boy and waitress were offing their apologies. A dish was thrown at the kitchen door while the screaming continued. The dish broke into pieces. Everyone finished up quickly and left in a rush. It actually was a little scary. Hope the workers were ok. I don't think we'll be going back there. read more

Fabulous anniversary dinner We made a reservation at Via Veneto on the recommendation of a friend and very happy that we did. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation but we were seated immediately by a friendly and courteous hostess. Our server, Crystal, was personable, and answered all our questions with knowledge and confidence. Each course was spaced out perfectly and let us enjoy our special dinner at a leisurely pace. The food was delicious and to our satisfaction. Our apps were the burrata salad with thinly sliced prosciutto, fresh arugula. also shared a Caesar salad and delicately fried strands of zucchini. For our dinners my wife had Garlic Shrimp Scampi with a hint of lemon and perfectly cooked capellini. I had a special that was indeed special, a tower of fried eggplant, fresh mozz and tender veal cutlet with a filetto di pomodoro, served with roasted potatoes and sauteed green beans and julienned carrots (next time I'll request capellini). The housemade italian ricotta cheesecake was a perfect ending. It was light, flavorful and not too sweet. My compliments to Via Veneto and the staff for another great memory to have in our life together. read more

We were a party of 5, there for an early Sunday dinner. We were greeted immediately and offered a choice of seats since it was still quiet in there. Our server was helpful and attentive the entire time. For starters we shared fried calamari which was light and crispy. Also had green bean, tomato and potato salad app-- very fresh and tasty although the potatoes were slightly undercooked. For dinner-- wow-- we were impressed with everything. Chicken parm was BIG. The chicken was lightly fried, not heavily beaded. Sauce was delicious. Rigatoni Via Veneto was excellent with 5 large shrimp, mushrooms and peas in a pink cream sauce. The large portion was even better leftover. Orecchietti with sausage and broccoli rabe was another standout. Overall, would definitely recommend. We had a 6:45 Saturday evening reservation. We checked in and were told a check was being paid & we would have that table. That was the last we saw of anyone at the front desk. It remained empty for 35 minutes. Many people just left. We were seated at 7:30. We got our entree at 8:45. Our waitress continued to apologize for the wait, admitting others got served before us that shouldn't have. This was not her fault. She was angry. The manager bounced from table to table hobnobbing with people he seemed to know well, ignoring the situation other tables were going through. We felt like unwelcomed guests. We like to dine early for personal reasons and because we believe that patrons receive better service from kitchen and wait staff when a restaurant is not crowded. So, we made a reservation for 515 pm Friday at VV (it opens at 5 pm). When we arrived, literally no one (patrons or staff) was present. We shouted "Hello!" and walked back to the kitchen where the host (owner?) came out and directed us to a table. Another couple came in shortly after us. Justin came over, opened wine, announced the specials, but told us that Christina would be our waitress. The couple at a nearby table got Gianna as their server, who was very attentive to them. Besides Gianna, another young woman occasionally appeared in the restaurant, glancing over at our table a couple of times, but never approaching us. After 20 minutes (almost ready to walk out) we got Gianna's attention when she was clearing the appetizer from the table of the couple who came in after us. We explained that we were waiting to order and she took our orders and was attentive to us throughout our meals (thus, she got a decent tip because the confusion was not her fault). The restaurant seems poorly managed. The host/owner was pushing tables around with busboys at 545 pm disrupting the place (one should do these things before opening). Also, after the appetizer, the ignorant busboy put our dirty forks and knives back on the table (we corrected him). A big screen TV in one corner and pop songs from the 1960s create a lousy ambiance. Food was pretty good, but not extraordinary. We started with an appetizer of burrata cheese with grilled veggies, $17. Tasty, but such a tiny amount of burrata for that price. Then we both had the $35. seafood entrees: Broiled seafood combo - clams, lobster, shrimp, calamari, and fish of day (Branzino) and Zuppe di pesce - all of the same seafood plus mussels and anchovies (ground up, not even detectable) over at least a pound of linguini (cheap and makes dish look huge). There were adequate amounts of seafood in both entrees. In closing, VV is OK, but there are lots of better Italian restaurants. Probably, will not return. read more

The nice thing about living in this area is there's always another good restaurant to try and I include Via Venuto in that. VV is located in a strip mall but that doesn't prevent it from having a nice warm ambiance. Being a BYOB restaurant helps keep costs down; considerably. My wife and I split a great à la carte salad with fruit and nuts that was quite enjoyable. My half of the salad was plenty. For an entrée I had the balsamic chicken tossed with spinach and sweet sausage. Also very good. I had to bring a third of it home. The restaurant was quiet, maybe because it was during the week and the men's room was clean. Service was very good as well. read more

We had a fabulous dinner at this local BYOB restaurant with friends the other night. Although I've passed it a hundred times & always thought about going there I had previously never made it. The restaurant is in a small shopping center & would be easy to miss if you weren't really looking for it. Parking is abundant despite several other nice businesses in the center. Six of us had 6 PM reservations & had no problem at all being seating right way this weekday. The restaurant has an upscale décor without being pretentious, is light enough to see yet dim enough to have a romantic feel. The wait staff was very friendly & professional. Warm bread was placed on the table with an olive oil dip that was quite tasty. My husband & I started off with a green salad with I believe blueberries, pineapple, almonds topped of with gorgonzola cheese. I asked that the dressing be served on the side (I hate my salads being drowned in dressing) but our waitress said they use the dressing sparingly. She was correct & it was delicious. For dinner I had Penne Paesano; eggplant, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, in a red sauce. It came out piping hot, delicious, & I had enough for a couple of meals! I was so full I didn't reach the halfway point before I asked she pack it to go. For dessert the 6 of us shared the tartufo which came out sliced rather than in one piece. That made for neat, easy sharing. It was very good. We topped everything off with a great cup of coffee. The entire meal was A+. The prices were a little high but not overly considering the caliber of the place. I have been to restaurants & paid a lot more for not nearly as good a dining experience. The BYOB also helps. The only negative I have was it took me 2 days to get through to someone to make reservations. Apparently you need to call after 2 PM for reservations, yet after 2 PM I still got the same outgoing message. I was concerned I would need to find somewhere else for this group to go. I finally left a message on the machine & received a call back. The gentlemen I spoke to was very apologetic about the phone problem. I would recommend that outgoing message be changed to a time you can actually speak to someone, or to reflect a message could be left for a reservation. Other than that small issue this restaurant was fabulous & I would highly recommend it. Looking forward to returning in the future with more friends. read more

Tried an appetizer on the specials.. Fried Zucchini... very tasty.. I had Veal Sorrentino & my wife had a Shrimp Fra Diablo clams & mussels garnish... I've read complaints about the wait between courses but if you are enjoying a night out with a BYOB do you really want to be rushed???? If so then go to Olive Garden they will move you along... We went here for a party. A rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, so my review is based only on a large group pre fixed menu. We were about 80 people. Let's start with the service which was phenomenal. They were so very accommodating. The event was beautiful. It's a BYOB restaurant, keep in mind. Cocktails were served, appetizers delicious. Mains were steak chicken lamb chops pastas and were also delicious. All and all a great time was had and I can't wait to come back and try the actual restaurant. We had a rehearsal dinner for a family wedding here and they did an awesome job! We had a room in the back so everyone could mingle and the kids could run around. The room had its own bathrooms which was awesome. They took everyone's order an served the food in a timely manner which can be hard for restaurants serving large parties. We had Caprese salads as appetizers, salmon or chicken dishes, and penne in pink sauce to pass around. Everything was delicious! They also allowed us to bring our own wine. Just opened this week and off to good start is this sister restaurant to their other location in Brick, NJ. Lovely space done in contemporary fashion with really cool music playing at just the right level as not be distracting but there to be enjoyed. The food servers all very friendly and efficient welcome you to their new restaurant as well as an on site manager / owner to ensure all is going well. We have eaten at their other location over the years and the cooking is very similar with a large menu and a bunch of specials to round it out. Most if not all of the pasta dishes are very good. Nice bread service and delicious salads as well as two pasta dishes were enjoyed by us last night. For a restaurant open less than a week they are doing an excellent job. They are a very nice addition to Manasquan and conveniently located on Rt. 35 N. right next to Pier 1. Fair pricing and BYOB help keep the dining out experience with VVR at a reasonable cost. Complete disregard for the 25% capacity. Owner/manager was sitting and drinking with his friends and then going from table tot table without wearing a mask. When he was ask politely to put his mask on he became belligerent and irrational and began dropping F-bombs and the patrons who asked him to put on his mask, telling them that they just should have stayed home if they were so scared. Met friends on a weeknight. Hot apps were good, salads bland. 2 of 6 main dinners were served, we waited over 40 min for remaining plates. Manager walked the floor, ignored us. The waitress was trying but awkward, kept blaming other staff for the delay. We were really patient, enjoying our friends, tried to calm her. When we all finally were served, pasta was not done, the bolognese dish not edible. Saltimboca was meager, salty. A friend enjoyed the salmon. If you're interested in a true Italian restaurant, (and by that I mean authentic dishes, quality ingredients, and a passionate service staff), come here for dinner. I've come here a dozen times, after having dined at the parent restaurant for ten years, and always had a good time. Knowing I'm appreciated as a customer, which you don't get at the chains, is a bonus. Knowing I'm going to get a great meal and never feel bad about what I spent or what I was served is what keeps me coming back. Food was amazing man ur party had calamari, stuffed mushrooms, clams oregenata and the zucchini. All were amazing but the sauce with the mushrooms....wow!!! Told the owner they should serve that in shots. It was delectable. Meals we ordered lamb chops and the lobster ravioli...both were very tasty and highly recommend. From the get go the waitress brought the wrong type of bottled water to the table-asked for the Aqua Panna non-sparkling-we got sparking..., Took forever to all the appetizers to be served-in my experience, a second waitstaff or helper assists in bringing all the courses of food to get them all out on time. "Wedgesalad???" No it's a wilted stalk of Romaine lettuce drowned with way too much dressing. I was never asked if I'd like fresh ground pepper for it. My eńtree was ok-nothing to write home about. I had the filet mignon-a bit bland BUT to my surprise it was cooked exactly the way I asked-well done. (Many times I've had to sent my steak back in the best of restaurants.) There was not much of a taste to the sautéed spinach or single pathetic baby potato that was cut in half on my plate. I was never asked if I'd like any steak sauce or how our dinners were. Dessert... well the Créme Brûlée was COLD! I have never had it served out if the refrigerator like that...mealy. The cheese cake was good airy. It was NOT a NY cheeses cake. Other patrons complaining about the time waiting to be served after being seated- one gentleman said he was waiting over 1 1/2 hrs for any food!! read more

The owner Nino stepped up after another restaurant in PT Pleasant gave us misleading and conflicting statements regarding the ability to seat our party of 14 (including 5 hungry children). Nino went out of his way to accommodate us last min in an empty party room they had. Via Veneto was short staffed with only 3 server staff on duty. Regardless, we never noticed and felt like we had out own personal server the entire time... especially with the hungry children. The food was amazing. For being an Italian restaurant, the sea creatures including the calamari was excellent and fresh along with the other seafood dishes on the menu. There were absolutely no complaints and everyone loved their dinners. Despite being a last minute accommodation, we never felt rushed and stayed for desert which was also plentiful and epic. I wish I had room for more but filled up on the well portioned appetizers and meals. The 14 of us are from North Jersey vacationing here but all agreed outside of vacation we would take the hour+ drive just to go to this place during the off season. I don't leave reviews as I am very busy and don't normally have the time to sit here and write...but when someone goes out of their way to help out when no other place could accommodate us last minute we noticed and we appreciate it.
