If you are planning a budget wedding, then look no further! Weddings are hectic, and whatever could go wrong does go wrong X 10! That's why, the event coordinator and maitre d should be pleasant and accommodating. I am a corporate events planner, I understand that things don't always go according to plan, however, I would still keep a level of professionalism when interacting with guests. Yes, we are PAYING guests. They should get rid of the maitre d title and rename it CO (corrections officer) bc she was speaking to everyone like we were inmates at a federal prison. I should also note the sassy wedding coordinator had some sarcastic and patronizing comments as well (but not directly towards me). As soon as the limo came, all our bags were whisked away to the bridal suite. We were then taken to the lobby area outside of the reception area. We were told we were NOT allowed in the bridal suite. Why? So no one could touch up their makeup or anything prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony, the bride had to pay the limo driver and asked me to go get the money from her bag. Since I didn't know where the bridal suite was, I asked the CO. I was told "I can't let you in there by yourself! Someone from our staff needs to accompany you. You are not allowed in there alone." Excuse me? I was obviously apart of the bridal party, bc when she lined us up like cattle earlier, she yelled out each of our names and I was wearing a bridesmaid dress. I had to disrupt the bride & groom from taking pics and tell them I was not allowed to go upstairs w/o a police escort. The bride had to come and tell the CO she needed to pay the driver. The CO rolled her eyes and spoke into her headset to get someone to police me, bc I'm not allowed access to my own personal property. 2 other bridesmaids and I finally get to go upstairs, it was like we were granted special privilege into the prison yard for good behavior. When we got upstairs, my tote bag was open, I know 110% my bag was zipped up. My jacket and cell phone was also stuffed into someone else's bag (so weird). I had brought 2 cash canons (to use during the reception but earlier when I asked, the CO looked at me like I was crazy and said I couldn't use it, it's basically contraband) and had them inside a plastic bag, one was on the couch and one was inside the bag, again very strange. When we go downstairs, the bride said we took too long to get the money and she had to borrow cash from a guest bc the driver couldn't wait (how embarrassing). A bridal suite is for the bridal party to keep their stuff in, change, touch up their makeup. Have a code entry or give a key, we shouldn't need permission or an escort to have access to our belongings. And this is definitely not about security for OUR stuff, bc when the party was almost over and I wanted to get my bags, I was told they already brought all our stuff down. They put all our stuff in the corner of the banquet room. Yes, they put my wallet, with my id, credit cards, and cash in a room with 100 people, very smart move Antun's! Who's the brains behind this operation? The last time I had to deal with the CO was for the bridal party entrance. She said when the bride & groom come in, we need to lift one arm up and create an arch. As each couple from the bridal party came out, we were to line up. The CO kept coming and pushing and shoving us to "get in line!". She even yelled at me bc I'm short and couldn't lift my arms the way she wanted me to. She basically wanted me to stand at a 45 degree angle, how is that humanly possible? The food was standard catering hall food. It started with what looked like a DIY salad, and then guests had a choice b/t 4 options. I was actually surprised to see they had (2) vegetarian options, which was great bc it was a no meat Friday wedding during Lent. I ordered the eggplant with angel hair pasta or should I say a thin piece of breaded eggplant wrapped around plain pasta with string beans and sauce on the side. The servers during dinner were very nice, also the bartender Indira was awesome! She saved this review from being 1 Star! Indira had the hospitality skills and personality that the wedding coordinators lacked. And FYI, you must buy your wedding cake from them. You are not allowed to bring in your own cake. A wedding cake is something special, this alone would be a dealbreaker for me. This is the first event space I went to that did not allow an outside cake, charge a cake cutting fee or something if you want to milk the customer for everything. And the cake was a plain yellow cake with vanilla pudding, weird mushy cake consistency. There are also a million stairs. My team decided to take about 40 of our patients and their guests to eat at a nice place for a Holiday Party. We chose Antun's because it was near our office, it was near public transportation, the prices weren't out of our budget per person, and they would have a nice private room for us. This was a nice place and a nice experience for all of us, and i can see people enjoying themselves at a wedding or some other venue here. However, as an overall experience, it was "middle of the road." Some of the staff were pleasant, others were not. They were accommodating, letting us turn off their music. The decorations were nice, bright, and festive. Their holiday decorations were appropriate and fun. The food was "ehhh", I mean, the best part of the meal were the rolls with salted butter! The appetizer, the fruits, were sour. The entrees were pedantic and run of the mill. The portions were small. I went with L&S entertainment for the dj,mc and photo booth. You will not be disappointed when you use there recommend venus. We booked everything from the people the recommend so it went so smooth. Standard Catering hall. Food not great, A lot of pre frozen stuff which of was obvious. Its a good place if you have a low budget for a wedding. Rolling in kitchen carts to serve the food to 80 plus people gave the feeling of feeding time at the zoo...that certainly could be eliminated from their procedures. Decor is dated big time, heavy carpeting and compartmentalized rooms gives the feel of a funeral home inside. Table service was excellent however. Staff was courteous and worked to ensure that everyone had what they needed. If you want a lower cost catering hall, I suppose this is good but I would imagine there are better options out there. read more

So this review is based on the parking situation, as far as the venue I come to expect that Antuns is what it is a catering hall in a ok residential neighborhood that provides a service. No WOW factor. Many rooms for multiple events unfortunately expanded the location leaving not enough room for parking, 3 lots all full to capacity. Had to park my car on the corner of 98av and 218 street, because this neighborhood is residential. Well came back to my glass smashed and items stolen from my trunk. Another family member also had there window smashed and items stolen. While I'm sure Antuns will say that has nothing to do with them. I fell they should really look into proper parking for there guests, and not focus on just squeezing in as much parties per night. read more

Went to an 50th anniversary event here and it was really enjoyable. The space was fancy and the people who worked there were efficient. The food was just oookaaay typical venue catering where you know to avoid things like potato salad so you don't get a stomach ache. You can hear the music through the walls if there is another party next door so hopefully you don't have a ball when the people next to you are having a twerk fest. read more

Went to an event at Antun's and really enjoyed the space. The event did not involve food so I really cannot comment on that part. The main room was able to accomodate the guests and there was ample dance floor space. There were also guests in their upstairs space. Had a disgusting experience with the owner of this establishment before I even signed a contract. All I wanted was to work put some details for a party I wanted to plan and the owner really did not care. All he rambled on about was how HE likes things run a certain way and how HE hasn't had an issue in 20+ years. He was extremely rude to me and even tried questioning my finances by saying some food at his establishment is quite expensive and not everyone can afford to eat it. Um what? Wow! This place exceeded all of our expectations. The venue was impeccably clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, the bar had everything we asked for, the staff was kind and courteous. I went to book my venue on a Thursday and got all of the info. I told them I would be back Monday with down payment and menu. I called Monday and my date was given away that Saturday. If I could give zero stars I would. I had called up last Sunday at 4:48pm and could not get through to anyone over the phone. When I finally called back Tuesday I got in touch with Samantha and I had asked about the services and packages that Antun's offered. I received a really nasty and loud attitude followed by being told that I would have to come in and that she "didn't have the time to tell me everything over the phone if I'm not 100% sure of what I want". I would think that a simple guide wouldn't be much to ask for but seems to me as if she thought otherwise. When I had asked if I could speak to a manager or work with someone else she told me that she was the manager and that none of her employees are around and any issues would go through her. Finally I realized this was enough of a call for me to take my business elsewhere and I will forever remember this experience I was given. I attended a black tie event here this weekend. Lovely space to rent out for a reception or gathering. Overall the service was exquisite, the staff was very attentive and polite. Cocktail hour was impressive there was lots of variety even the most fickle eater would be pleased-- the open bar was also a plus. I booked a wedding reception at this venue over a tear befor ethe event. I cancelled because I found a nicer and less expensive venue. I cancelled my event nine months prior to my wedding. The manager Richarged refused to refund me the $1500.00 I put down for the event. He lied and said that my contract said he doesn't have to refund me. Prior to speaking with Richard, I spoke with three other people at Antun's about my refund. They all gave me the run around saying the refund is coming but it takes time. I waited a month before being told by Richard that they basically stole my money. Don't waist your time at Antun's. For the money they charge, the small space and lying staff isn't worth it. A one is to high a rating for these thieves. Book some place else. read more

I was a guest at a wedding here. From my point of view as a guest this location was phenomenal . Staff was very nice , timely and professional . The food was amazing especially the cocktail hour! The food at dinner time was ok and average for wedding food but still tasteful and good. The wedding I attended was open bar. The bartenders here were quick and funny . I have never written a review, which should say something about the fact that I'm writing about my experience at Antun's. A friend who planned her daughter's sweet 16 while living in Florida raved about how accommodating they were in helping her plan the event while living in another state. I'm extremely busy so convenience was very important to me. They made the experience so much less painful than I was expecting for planning this kind of party. I was so delighted that I could communicate with them via text. That alone made the entire process easier. Their party packages are also so convenient, and their event coordinators (Gina is a star!) are extremely helpful in staying on top of things and I can't say enough about the owner Joe King and his son Mickey who also took great care in our planning process. They are all the kind of people you hope for when you are planning an event - and great people overall. The party was very tastefully decorated, the accommodations in the bridal suite were terrific, the event staff took great care of us, and my guests absolutely RAVED about the food. And they are tough critics! The overall experience was wonderful and we are so happy we made this choice. I attended Antuns for a wedding on 2-22-19. The videographer (provided by Antuns)was very unprofessional and a big distraction. He was an older fellow with a very dated camera setup on a large rolling tripod. His tripod and camera equipment blocked the view of many people, during the wedding ceremony. Also, during the ceremony, he can be heard telling the bridal party, pretty loudly, where to stand. This was DURING THE CEREMONY! During the reception, while the toast was being made, the videographer can be heard speaking very loudly to the DJ on what he felt the DJ should be doing. He showed no respect for the couple or the guests trying to listen to the toasts. Great videographers are inconspicuous. He was in the way, TOO OFTEN. His service makes me question whether it's worth it to go back to Antuns. What a shame. read more

Came here for a party. The venue itself looks really nice and has a pretty sophisticated feel to it and they even had an open bar! The room where the party itself was held was a good size for the amount of people attending. Servers are nice and seem to always be on their toes. Antun's made our wedding day a dream come true! We were married there on 6/8/19 and I still haven't come down from the clouds! We had a gorgeous ceremony in the garden followed by a reception for 160 in the Venetian Room. From the planning process to the day of the wedding everything went smoothly and perfectly. They just really know what they are doing and have everything organized perfectly. The menu for the cocktail hour is huge with something for everyone and we also had an after-party outside with french fries, pretzels, s'mores and a milkshake bar! Our guests had a fantastic time, everyone said all the food was delicious and the service was amazing. The crew at Antun's made the day so special, I could see how hard they were working to keep us happy and on schedule and they always had a smile on their face. I was 100% disappointed with this location. I recently attended an event here. When we exited the elevator on the 2nd floor the overwhelming smell of fish and mold took over. I couldn't even eat at the cocktail hour because of the stench. I ordered a drink and was beside myself at how anyone could ruin a coke and vodka, the soda was flat and watered down and the vodka was so cheap. My fish was mushy and gooey(I only eat red meat on occasion and I knew the chicken would be frozen from restaurant depot(I was right) my salad was loaded with blue cheese(EWWW) and I had to ask a waiter 4 times for ice cream when he kept forgetting our table. If you live in this part of Queens, this a pretty good option for a large function like a wedding, staff party, or family reunion if no one really wants to sit in the hot sun and bbq. Antun's is nicely and elaborately decorated just shy of tacky; the plants and water fountain in the lobby are nice, but you can tell they're also fake, the chairs for your guests at your wedding ceremony are regular folding chairs, but covered with a pretty white slip...et cetera. The food is not great, but not horrible either. If I had paid for it at a restaurant I'd be extremely disappointed, but after the large variety of pretty good options offered during the cocktail hour with open bar I wasn't very hungry anyways. The exceptional things about Antun's that save it from mediocrity are the service, which was flawless, and the and convenience.
