The burger was without question one of the best burgers I have ever had. Just amazing. The cheese on the burger was a cheese crisp rather than a piece of cheese. The bun was perfectly seasoned and toasted and the fries were hand cut and perfectly cooked. Oh MY God!! Deliciousness! My wife's pasta was home made and easily amazing. Seriously, if you have a taste for something special, you need to give this place a try. The prices were very reasonable and the service was first rate. Hard to believe that this place is so close. We have always enjoyed coming to Anya for special occasions. Normally the service is impeccable and the food is delicious. We were surprised and appalled by our experience last night. Even though our reservation was at 6:00pm, by the time they came to take our order (45 minutes later), they were out of the entrees we wanted. 30 minutes after we gave them our second choice, the waitress came back telling us that was also unavailable. We were finally served some food, but unfortunately it was not good. My stuffed shrimp was almost inedible - a cold tasteless clump of unseasoned "risotto" under shrimp that was so overcooked I had trouble cutting it with a knife, stuffed with a huge clump of tasteless breadcrumbs (no crab) with some kind of brown gravy on top. Obviously there was some kind of crisis going on in the kitchen. Our waitress kept apologizing so we didn't make a stink - just paid and left. But for the amount of money we paid for this disaster, we won't be back. We will look for someplace else from now on! read more

This is my second visit to Anya's. The first was for dinner in July. The waitress was great, the kitchen was very slow, which was surprising as there were only 2 other couples dining. The food was good, but not outstanding. We decided to try brunch today. NEVER AGAIN Who serves French toast and while serving tells us they are out of maple syrup? To make matters worse, never offers to replace for something else. When the bill arrives both orders are on charged. When asked about making the bill right....the arrogance of the waiter was amazing! He asks, what do you want? I had to ask to remove what we clearly didn't eat. I could have let the burnt to a crisp bacon and cool coffee go, but not the arrogance. read more

The waiter asked me if I wanted that specific tequila or Patron not once mentioning the cost and the glass was mostly ice so there is no way I got the value I paid for! Anya is a hidden gem. Taking the country drive out to CT was a bit long, but during into Anya's driveway resulted in unexpected delight. A beautiful venue with twinkling lights, it was charming, but the best was yet to come. The interior decor is beautiful. I loved it's elegance. The piano music was a nice touch, but the food and service could compete anywhere. The Beef Wellington was not only a gorgeous presentation, but it was the best I've ever had. Yesterday evening the family dined at Anya Restaurant in Thompson Connecticut. We were celebrating my Brother in Laws retirement and the acceptance of my nephew to graduate school. Our party of six arrived at 4:30 and were greeted and seated immediately. The atmosphere was really bright and airy with a modern industrial look that was really nice. I also noticed that the bar area was bustling and looked like it was a popular spot for folks to come by for a drink and a small plate in the afternoon or early evening. I will most certainly stop by one day and check that out as it looked like a very nice crowd and the food, as I will shortly describe is really super! Our server was Ashley who greeted us and immediately gave us a run down of the dishes, what were considered signature or exceptional and quickly took our order for drinks. We began by ordering some of Anya's signature cocktails that were all superb. Cleverly put together and mixed with fresh fruit flavors and well balanced. Everyone was very happy with his or her selections. Then we went about selecting our small plate offerings which all looked very interesting. I chose the Octopus Confit, grilled octopus served with butternut squash puree, confit potatoes, frisee and Salsa Verde, which provided a nice bite at the finish. The Octopus was grilled to perfection and was tender with a nice char to it. My nephew ordered the mac and cheese as his appetizer and said that the cheese was very creamy and the pasta cooked just the way he liked it. We also tried the Tenderloin Wellingtons with Duxelles, puff pastry and red wine demi glace and my mother who is 84 and quite expert at making Chowder said that the Seafood Chowder she selected was without a doubt the best she had ever had. A glowing review from an old hand at New England chowder cooking. Moving on to the main course, two of us went with the Ravioli, stuffed with butter poached lobster and a sauce of cognac, tomato and basil. Sublime, they were very happy with their selection. I chose the Cavatelli; fresh pasta covered with braised short rib, sweet sausage Bolognese, tomato and topped with basil infused extra virgin oil and Buratta which once split melted the lovely internal creama' over the pasta and meats. Again, superb, definitely a plate I'd gladly order again. Another chose the Orecchette, again, fresh made pasta sauced with house made sausage and a broccoli rabe and spinach Alfredo. Another superb dish. One of our party, the only to order a meat dish chose the grilled lamb porterhouse chops, gazed with a herb and citrus brine served with a scallop braised potato, glazed baby vegetables and finished with a mint pesto. The lamb was perfectly cooked and another superb dish, one I plan to try on another visit. My sister and host of the dinner chose the Fettuccini topped with wild shrimp, shallots, garlic, white wine, tomato, spinach and artichoke hearts glazed with an oil infused with lemon zest. She was very pleased with her selection. The finale of this already superb dining experience was easily up to the same high standard. Three of us chose the Zeppoles and Coffee, Italian doughnuts served with three sauces; a lemon honey glaze, dark chocolate ganache and Dulce dé Leche dipping sauces with a choice of coffee. I really loved this desert! One chose the Tiramisu Gelato Parfait that was made up of layers of coffee liqueur soaked crumbles, tiramisu mousse, and cocoa nibs finished with Chantilly cream. Excellent! But the one that I saved for last was the Spiced Apple Walnut Panna Cotta that was very likely the largest that I have ever seen. Served in what looked like a tall milkshake glass with another rocks tumbler containing brandied apples, fruit and nuts to accent the dish. Again, this desert was outta the park! All in all, our dining experience was really superb, we all enjoyed the entire meal, our server with spot on and super friendly and we all have some really super memories to take from the experience. Anya is the best restaurant in the quiet corner; easily five stars and I urge anyone who has the opportunity to visit to do so. You will not be disappointed by the entire experience. A must go to. We celebrated our third wedding anniversary there and the evening was spectacular! The staff was warm, attentive, and inviting. The food is positively incredible. My husband had the chateaubriand and I had the salmon each perfectly made. We even got to meet the chef who checked in on his guests which felt a bit like meeting a celebrity. We finished the evening with an orange blossom creme brûlée (out of this world!) and a soufflé. This was our third time going to this restaurant and I was very unimpressed. The service was very slow. Our waitress didn't come over until about 10 minutes after we got seated. The rest of our party arrived and again we didn't see her for another 15 minutes. I went up to the hostess to see if she could locate our waitress and she had her nose so deep in her iPad she didn't even look up at me but said she would get her. The waitress had the excuse of 'the hostess didn't tell me the rest of your party showed up', shouldn't you be keeping an eye out for the rest of our party? And don't you have more tables in the general area than just us?? I got the surf and turf which was $50, it came out medium well (after ordering medium rare) and the lobster tail was that of a baby lobster I'm pretty sure. My family and I have been coming here since day 1. We love the food and love the vibe, we also like the new changes to the menu. But lately the service has been awful. So this place is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, however... you walk inside and it's absolutely stunning. The main dining room is gorgeous and the bar is way over the top (in a good way) I had the pleasure of having the bartender Stephanie, serve me... and being by myself, she was wonderful company and just wonderful in every way! Tried this place for the first time yesterday and while the atmosphere was great (and the bread) that was pretty much it. We went for dinner to see how it was hoping to have an event there in a few weeks and conveyed that to the waitress but she did not acknowledge that or give us any information as we had hoped going in. Not one of us in our group enjoyed our food and spent a good amount of money on a few bites of each dish just to be disappointed. I also ordered the steak fries because I saw a picture on the website and it said they came with a homemade ketchup - mine seemed undercooked and came with a side of a dark, thick, chunky paste (looking very different from the picture) that smelled awful and tasted worse. We were visiting our parents up in the area from Washington DC and decided to try out Anya on a Saturday evening. We made reservations at 7:15pm. Arriving a few minutes early, we were greeting at the host stand by two very attentive gentlemen who seating us promptly at a wonderful and centrally located table. The table was beautifully set and our waiter Anthony promptly greeted us and welcomed us to the restaurant. He took our drink orders and gave us ample time to look over the menu and wine list, answering any questions that we had. My father who is very particular with pasta sauce asked if he could taste the red sauce before he decided on his meal. Anthony and the kitchen quickly prepared a tasting sample for Dad. For the meal, table had a variety of items that included the grilled Caesar, the field greens, the linguini Nero, the short ribs tagliatelle, the seasonal ravioli and the Delmonico steak. All wonderfully prepared and tasty. For dessert we had the creme brûlée and the almond cake, topping it off with cappuccinos and espresso all exquisitely prepared and tasty. Over all Anya, was a fantastic place with a great staff and very well prepared, presented and tasty food. We will come back the next time we are in the area. Now for a few areas of improvement. The restaurant was full last night so the background noise was very loud and sometimes you had to speak even louder to be heard. They had some music playing on the speakers but all you could hear and feel was the bass thumping. The Caesar salad was a little sparse with the dressing. read more

I'll start by saying that as soon as you drive into the property you know instantly that Anya is someplace special. The building and grounds are beautiful and when you walk inside that's when it really hits you that the owner has put everything into this venture that they possibly could have. The interior is absolutely gorgeous from the Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams to the elegant furniture in the waiting lounge and dining area . Then you are seated at a beautiful table and the true experience starts. The wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable of all the menus, offering great suggestions from cocktails all the way to desserts. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. We started with cocktails, I had a perfectly made Cucumber gin gimlet called the Greenhouse Gimlet so refreshing. My wife had a delicious Lemon Drop martini also made to perfection. We were a group of 4 so we tried a variety of appetizers to share we enjoyed them all. Our dinners were also amazing. From beginning to end our night at Anya was a memorable one. We will be returning soon. I have to add that when we were there it was only their 10th day open. Anya is in Soft opening mode with a Sept 2nd GRAND OPENING date. While soft openings are meant for a restaurant to work out some kinks and perfect everything before grand opening I must say Anya runs as if they have been open for years. Everyone does a wonderful job at their positions from the bartenders ( True Mixologist ) to the wait staff to the kitchen. The kitchen fires off meals at a pace that lets you sit back and enjoy the whole dining experience and not rush you through dinner like they are just trying to flip tables. Anya is about a dining experience to be enjoyed as long as you want, you never feel rushed. I want to Thank everyone for a wonderful dining experience. Last evening we spent New Years Eve at Anya and had a fabulous time. Kata seated us at our favorite table near the fireplace which was adorned with fun NYE decorations, hats, and noisemakers. Because of Covid they had to close before midnight so in lieu of a midnight countdown they did a 6:00 (midnight in France) countdown. Such a great idea! Chef prepared an amazing meal, as always. Out table started with oysters Rockefeller, calamari, and the lamb meatballs. For dinner, we had chateaubriand, lamb chops, and prime rib. We all agreed that our meals were out of this world delicious! Kara went above and beyond to make sure our experience was special. Dining at Anya is always such a treat and last night was no different. Our experience exceeded our expectations. I feel so grateful to have such a special place so close to our home. read more

My husband and I visited Anya months ago with family, our nephew Chris who lives in the area highly recommended the restaurant. Saturday my husband and I returned for an early dinner. We were seated in the sunroom where there is a nice fireplace. Our server was Lisa, very pleasant and so accommodating. The very talented chef visited our table twice! So impressive. The Shrimp Cocktail was great, cold, crisp and very fresh! Chateau Briand with Asparagus, Carrots and Whipped Potatoes was excellent! The Demi glacé sauce and Bernaise also perfect! The asparagus were cooked well, and they weren't those tough pencil ones! My husband had the Veal Chop with mushrooms, also excellent! We tried the Orange Blossom Creme Brûlée, it was a dream dessert. Infused with orange, creamy and crusted with sugar. Anya is a stunning restaurant, the interior design is incredible, exquisite wallpapers, furnishings and carpets, all so unique. Beautiful lighting, high ceilings and a lovely bar area. Love the white linens, candles and the FRESH ROSE PETALS on the tables!! Anya's style is impeccable. Good music even when there is no piano playing. I'm pretty sure the addition of a new chef made our dining experience even better than our first time there. The chef was nice enough to bring the manager over to meet us. It was our first time visiting ANYA. The ambiance is beautiful. The restaurant has a very warm and inviting feel. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We went here for our anniversary and came away with an overall positive experience. We had appetizers, dinner and desert. Ambiance, service, and quality of the food was 5 star. That said serving size, especially on the duck, needs improvement. We've both had the duck breast many times before (one of our favorites) and gerally it's at least 1/2 the breast. Picture 1/2 a duck breast and then cutting (2) 1/2" thick pieces on a plate.... again prep was right on, but if you come hungry don't get the duck. However, the scallops with root vegetable hash was spot on for portion size and sear. Would get this again. We do plan on returning to the resteraunt to try other dishes. read more

A group of six friends had an amazing dining experience here recently. Despite a major mistake through the online reservation service, we were served graciously and promptly. We had a mix of beautifully presented and delicious entrees and salads. The burrata with arugula pistachios & honey was excellent, as were scallops with root vegetables. WOW that is what I said as we were leaving this amazing restaurant. We have done a great deal of traveling and have been to many restaurants. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly staff member who asked if we all wanted to get our picture taken together. He saw us outside taking pictures in front of the pumpkins. Inside we were immediately escorted to a beautiful room full of light with a very friendly and knowledgeable server. From The time we entered until the time we left we were all made to feel very very special. They were five adults and one teenager who is a little fussy about food she is not familiar with. This server knew exactly what a girl her age would like. The food was Plated beautifully cannot remember the last time I went to a dinner and everybody absolutely loved loved everything ! We. Saved room for Desserts which were made in house and incredible. We all tried each others and couldn't decide which one we like the best they all were so good. I wish Anya the greatest of success in Connecticut. The grounds are also beautiful and they have a beautiful fire pit outside. I am ready to go back there As soon as I can.
