I had a plumbing problem in my office. It's much more complicated than a regular bathroom sink drain system because the drain took an additional high pressure feed in addition to the regular sink drain. A part broke and flooded my bathroom. I went to this place after getting zero help at one of the big box hardware stores. In addition to not having the right part, no one was around to advise me. So I went to this place on 190th off Anza and in less than 10 minutes, this guy told me how to improvise with new parts and fittings and clearly explained to me how to put it all together. I put it all together and it worked like a charm. Everything went smoothly, which is amazing because plumbing fixes never go smoothly and it took me about 30 minutes to get the job done. All together the parts cost less than $15.00! Deal! For what looks like a small neighborhood hardware store I find they are better stocked than the big box stores. They always have the part I need. If I need a nut or screw, I can buy just one as opposed to the large package of 50 pieces. But the best thing about this place is the helpful service and advice they give me when I'm not sure how to tackle a problem. That is so refreshing in this day and age. I hope they never go out of business. We should all try to support businesses like this. read more

Don't go here. if you bring them a key to cut and they ruin it, they won't cover the cost of a new key.I asked Sorlito if he could cut my transponder car key. He said he could but he couldn't and he ruined my key. When I asked for a refund on the key they tried to put it off on me and said I had insisted and they are not liable. I did not insist and I don't think a judge would agree with the liability issue. I would have went somewhere else had he told me he might ruin the key. They will not cover the cost of a new transponder key. They also addressed me in a disrespectful way in order to get rid of me. All in all the last owners of this true value would have handled it differently. I would always try to go here and give them my business for the last 50 years but no more. I really don't like disrespectful people and people who don't stand by their work. read more

My little cousin and his friend decided to jump on my mom's bed and wound up breaking two of the support beams in her boxspring. They weren't the main beams, so we decided to just replace the two slats. We would normally go to Home Depot, but after the horrible service we received on our last visit, we went back to Anza True Value. The same employees were there! We bought new screws for the bed but were sad to see that they don't carry wood. We decided to ask anyway. The employee asked what kind of wood we needed and what it would be used for. He went out back and grabbed exactly what we needed! It turned out to be the wood that they would normally cut down into fence stakes! It wound up being $3 for a 10-foot piece, versus Home Depot's $2, but we didn't need to get it cut, nor did we have to deal with horrible service and drive across town. If you don't see something on the shelf that you really need, ASK! Chances are, they have it out back! Plus, supporting a local business that has dependable, friendly service is WELL worth it! read more

This place is your typical neighborhood family owned hardware store. Small, cramped, but a lot of selection for small and large stuff. I was in here June or July of 2014 for a plumbing part. I think we needed the toilet rubber stuff (the one that looks like POO). It was my first time here today and will definitely come back. The man who helped me, which I assume is the owner was very nice and helpful. It was kind'a busy and he managed to help me and 2 other people at the same time. Came in looking for lamp clamps and luckily they have 2 left. I told him it's for a DIY lightbox I'm planning to make. Then our conversation went on to lamp clams and all kinds of light bulbs. He was so knowledgeable and I learned a lot. However, they ran out of the natural daylight bulbs that I need. He suggested another kind of bulb, and told me to test it out and come back if it doesn't work. Prices are a bit higher compare to as Home Depot, Lowes and Orchard, but it's a small mom and pop hardware store and they need to make money too. We gotta support! They are super helpful and I've been there a little over a half-dozen times. They are my go to place for anything that home depot sells and I can feel good spending my money here. Can I give negative stars???? That's what this place deserves! The manager Greg is rude and has absolutely no customer service skills. Took my wooden screen doors in to be rescreened, "it will be a hard job but we can do it" was what we were told. Well, about a week later, WE call to see if they are done, and go to check them out. Finally, we get a little air relief from the hot weather because our screen doors are back... nope. Nice try, they "fixed" the screens by shooting the staples THROUGH THE DOOR face! WHAT?!??!? Now we have a door with nails/staples sticking out of it. We are not accepting that, you need to fix your crappy repair job. Okay, so we leave the doors, fingers crossed they will be fixed again when we pick them up. Call the manager, Greg, multiple times to see what they are going to do about ruining our screens, it's like tracking down the president. He tells people he will call them back, and doesn't; he tells people he will be in until a certain time, he isn't; HOW ARE YOU RUNNING A BUSINESS???? Rhetorical question... you're not. The worst customer service. Suffer through another week of stagnant heat with doors shut. Again, WE call to check on them. Yeah, they are done. Go to check on the... NOPE! The sheared off the nails/staples, puttied over them, then primered the door. Now they look like trash, something you would pull out of the dumpster. I'm not putting those on my house! Have the employees call the manager, who was supposed to be in until 3:30 today but never came in because he's on medication (sorry, but not my problem. Don't tell me you will be somewhere until a certain time and then not be there to help). Explained to him the problem, AGAIN; maybe he doesn't remember because of the medication. "We will refund the amount you paid for the fix," (what fix??? You screwed up the doors). A normal manager would take ownership for his business ruining a product. His response "your doors were crappy to begin with. We aren't replacing them." I'm sorry? If you couldn't handle the job, you should have said that instead of saying you could do something then ruining the original In the process!!!! I asked him to call his boss, the owner, if that's his boss; reluctantly, after me saying that I wanted to speak to the owner multiple times, he said he would contact the owner and to give him my number. Now it's been 3 weeks, multiple phone calls, multiple trips to the store, still no acceptable screens, and waiting on the manager again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! The customer service is horrible. I would much rather have them just say they couldn't handle the job, then I could have taken them elsewhere that could have done the job. Instead, I was taking their word and got screwed in the end. I'm out two screens, three weeks so far, and a HUGE hassle. read more

I needed copies for two keys. Right after walking into the store, one of their employees who was restocking supplies looked up smiling and offered his assistance. He walked me to the back of the store where their key-station is and helped me with the keys. Great store, I'll definitely go back. The employees and the owner are very friendly and helpful. I'll take a "Mom & Pop" shop over BIG-BOX RETAIL any day of the week and I highly recommend you give this place a shot before you hit Home Depot or Lowes. Obviously, they are not going to have the selection of the above-mentioned but if you're in the market for your basic widgets, tools, etc. and want a personal touch - Anza True Value Hardware is the bomb. This weekend my toilet went down --- ohhh no! It would flush but it would not fill back up --- no bueno! Believe me when I say that I am total clown when it comes to repairing stuff; no aptitude whatsoever. Apparently the "guts" inside the back of toilet were shot and the young kid working at the hardware store walked me through the entire process. I was really, really impressed and appreciated him taking the time to explain it in so much detail. I have NEVER had that kind of service from Home Depot or Lowes. They always act like they are in too big of a hurry (at least in my experience). The job turned out to be super-duper simple; my plumber hat is off, the toilet is up and running, no leaks, no issues -- girlfriend is happy. What else could I ask for? Today the big drain pipe under the kithcen sink got a hole in it. The sink was full of nasty water and I wondered why it wouldnt drain. I stuck a coat hanger down it trying to unclog it when all of a sudden I hear water spewing out under the sink. Shoot! I just poked a hole through the eroded drain pipe with the end of the coat hanger. That really sucks. I quickly put my finger over the hole to stop the mass flood under sink. I couldnt let go and I had to get something that would catch the rest of water from the sink once I took my finger off the pipe hole. ...15 minutes later I mop up all the water and remove the rotted pipe and head down Anz True Value hardware. Soon as I walk in there's a dude asking me how he can help. I show him the pipe and we head down one of isles and grab a new pipe of the exact same size that I need. $2.89 later I'm heading back to the Ponderosa for the repair. nice! read more

This is my local go-to, and today they restored my faith in humanity, and earned a life-time customer! I was running a quick errand to the fishing store, pulled my mask out of my purse not noticing that, as I did so, my tiny travel-wallet holding about $40 cash fell to the ground. Didn't realize it until I tried to pay for something and couldn't. I ran all over, thinking I'd left it at home or dropped it, and was so upset with my carelessness. As we retraced our steps, my son suggested I ask at Anza True Value, which is where we donned our masks. Amazingly, someone turned it in, and they gave it back to me! No ID in it, just cash. I would never even have asked, just assumed someone had found and kept it. However, a good Samaritan and an honest shop keeper made my day! All the doom and gloom in our news right now, and stories like this make me so happy - that maybe the news has it wrong, and we are MOSTLY a really good, honest society! read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews and this is probably one of my very few 1 stars BUT if your hours state you are open until 3 PM , then stay open until 3 PM, or at the least post a sign saying you're closing early. Not that I am oft in need of hardware... but unless I need a whole lot of major items that I think a small store might not have room to carry, I will stop by this place. Friendly staff and the owner is super nice and very informative. I'll definitely be back! I came in looking for beading supplies one time... I know not often do people go to a hardware store looking for that type of thing but I needed sandpaper, epoxy, and some springs to hold my bead strings. The owner showed me exactly what aisles to find things and we even had a discussion on the types of epoxy and grades of sandpaper best for my project. read more
